ਖੈਚਕੈਮੂੰਡਦਈਕਰਵਾਰਕੀਏਕਕੋਮਾਰਿਕੀਏਤਬਦੋਊ॥
(ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ) ਤਲਵਾਰ ਖਿਚ ਕੇ (ਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਦੋ (ਟੁਕੜੇ) ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
The goddess pulled out her sword and struck it on the neck of Sumbh, cutting his body into two parts.,
ਸੁੰਭਦੁਟੂਕਹ੍ਵੈਭੂਮਿਪਰਿਓਤਨਜਿਉਕਲਵਤ੍ਰਸੋਚੀਰਤਕੋਊ॥੨੨੧॥
ਸ਼ੁੰਭ (ਦਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ) ਦੋ ਟੋਟੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ (ਇੰਜ) ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਆਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੀਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੨੧॥
The body of Sumbh cut into two fell in such a way on the earth as the same had been ripped by the saw.221.,

DOHRA,
ਸੁੰਭਮਾਰਕੈਚੰਡਿਕਾਉਠੀਸੁਸੰਖਬਜਾਇ॥
ਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਉਠੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਖ ਵਜਾਇਆ।
After killing Sumbh, Chnadika rose to blow her conch.,
ਤਬਧੁਨਿਘੰਟਾਕੀਕਰੀਮਹਾਮੋਦਮਨਿਪਾਇ॥੨੨੨॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੨੨੨॥
Then she sounded the gong as a mark of Victory, with great delight in her mind.222.,
ਦੈਤਰਾਜਛਿਨਮੈਹਨਿਓਦੇਵੀਇਹਪਰਕਾਰ॥
ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੈਂਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਛਿਣ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
The goddess killed the king of demons in this way in an instant.,
ਅਸਟਕਰਨਮਹਿਸਸਤ੍ਰਗਹਿਸੈਨਾਦਈਸੰਘਾਰ॥੨੨੩॥
(ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ) ਅੱਠਾਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ (ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੨੩॥
Holding her weapons in her eight hands, she destroyed the army of demons. 223.,

ਚੰਡਿਕੇਕੋਪਨਓਪਰਹੀਰਨਮੈਅਸਿਧਾਰਿਭਈਸਮੁਹਾਈ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ) ਚੰਡੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੋਈ
When Chnadi appeared with her sword in the battlefield. None of the demons could withstand her ire.,
ਮਾਰਿਬਿਦਾਰਿਸੰਘਾਰਿਦਏਤਬਭੂਪਬਿਨਾਕਰੈਕਉਨਲਰਾਈ॥
(ਤਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਦੀ ਕੋਈ) ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ। (ਜਦੋਂ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਨਸ਼ਟ-ਭ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤਦੋਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਭਲਾ) ਲੜਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਕੌਣ (ਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ)।
She killed and destroyed all, who can then wage a war without the king?,
ਕਾਂਪਉਠੇਅਰਿਤ੍ਰਾਸਹੀਏਧਰਿਛਾਡਿਦਈਸਭਪਉਰਖਤਾਈ॥
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਡਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਕੰਬ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਰਦਾਨਗੀ (ਪਉਰਖਤਾਈ) ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
The enemies trembled with fear in their hearts, they abandoned the pride of their heroism.,
ਦੈਤਚਲੈਤਜਿਖੇਤਇਉਜੈਸੇਬਡੇਗੁਨਲੋਭਤੇਜਾਤਪਰਾਹੀ॥੨੨੪॥
(ਤਦੋਂ) ਦੈਂਤ ਯੁੱਧ-ਖੇਤਰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਜ ਚਲੇ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ (ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ) ਗੁਣ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੨੪॥
Then the demons leaving the battlefield, ran away like the good qualities from the avarice.224.,

ਭਾਜਿਗਇਓਮਘਵਾਜਿਨਕੇਡਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਤੇਆਦਿਸਭੈਭੈਭੀਤੇ॥
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਇੰਦਰ ('ਮਘਵਾ') ਭਜ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭੈਭੀਤ ਸਨ,
With whose fear Indra had fied from heaven and Brahma and other gods, had been filled with fear.,
ਤੇਈਵੈਦੈਤਪਰਾਇਗਏਰਨਿਹਾਰਨਿਹਾਰਭਏਬਲੁਰੀਤੇ॥
ਉਹੀ ਦੈਂਤ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਾਰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਲਹੀਨ ਹੋਏ ਭਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
The same demons, seeing defeat in the battlefield, being devoid of their power had run away.,
ਜੰਬੁਕਗ੍ਰਿਝਨਿਰਾਸਭਏਬਨਬਾਸਗਏਜੁਗਜਾਮਨਬੀਤੇ॥
ਗਿਦੜ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਰਝਾਂ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਇਸ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਅਜੇ) ਦੋ ਪਹਿਰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੀਤੇ ਹਨ।
The jackals and vultures, having been dejected, have returned to the forest, even the two watches of the day have not elapsed.
ਸੰਤਸਹਾਇਸਦਾਜਗਮਾਇਸੁਸੁੰਭਨਿਸੁੰਭਬਡੇਅਰਿਜੀਤੇ॥੨੨੫॥
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਜਗਮਾਤਾ (ਚੰਡੀ) ਨੇ ਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਵਡੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਜਿਤ ਲਏ ਹਨ ॥੨੨੫॥
The mother of the world (goddess), ever the protector of saints, hath conquered the great enemies Sumbh and Nisumbh.225.
ਦੇਵਸਭੈਮਿਲਿਕੈਇਕਠਉਰਸੁਅਛਤਕੁੰਕਮਚੰਦਨਲੀਨੋ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਇਕਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਵਲ ਕੇਸਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਲੈ ਕੇ
All the gods gathering at one place and taking rice, saffron and sandalwood.
ਤਛਨਲਛਨਦੈਕੈਪ੍ਰਦਛਨਟੀਕਾਸੁਚੰਡਿਕੇਭਾਲਮੈਦੀਨੋ॥
ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਖਣਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਤਿਲਕ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Lakhs of gods, circumambulating the goddess immeditately applied the frontal mark (of victory) on her forehead.
ਤਾਛਬਿਕੋਉਪਜ੍ਯੋਤਹਭਾਵਇਹੈਕਵਿਨੇਮਨਮੈਲਖਿਲੀਨੋ॥
ਉਸ (ਵੇਲੇ ਦੀ) ਛਬੀ (ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਜੋ ਭਾਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਵੀ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ,
The glory of that event hath been imagined by the poet in his mind like this:
ਮਾਨਹੁਚੰਦਕੈਮੰਡਲਮੈਸੁਭਮੰਗਲਆਨਿਪ੍ਰਵੇਸਹਿਕੀਨੋ॥੨੨੬॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਚੰਦਰ-ਮੰਡਲ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਮੰਗਲ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਸੁਖਦਾਇਕ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ) ॥੨੨੬॥
It seemed that in the sphere of the moon, the period of “propitious rejoicings” hath penetrated. 226.

ਮਿਲਿਕੇਸੁਦੇਵਨਬਡਾਈਕਰੀਕਾਲਿਕਾਕੀਏਹੋਜਗਮਾਤਤੈਤੋਕਟਿਓਬਡੋਪਾਪੁਹੈ॥
(ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਦੇਵੀ (ਕਾਲਕਾ) ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਜਗਤਮਾਤਾ! ਤੂੰ ਤਾਂ (ਸਾਡਾ) ਵੱਡਾ ਪਾਪ ਕਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
All the gods gathered and sang this Eulogy in praise of the goddess: “O Universal mother, Thou hast effaced a very great sin
ਦੈਤਨਕੇਮਾਰਰਾਜਦੀਨੋਤੈਸੁਰੇਸਹੂੰਕੋਬਡੋਜਸੁਲੀਨੇਜਗਿਤੇਰੋਈਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁਹੈ॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਇੰਦਰ ('ਸੁਰੇਸ') ਨੂੰ (ਸੁਅਰਗ ਦਾ) ਰਾਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। (ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੂੰ) ਬਹੁਤ ਯਸ਼ ਖਟਿਆ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਜਗ ਵਿਚ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ (ਪਸਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਹੈ।
“Thou hast bestowed on Indra the kingdom of heaven by killing the demons, Thou hast earned great repulations and Thy glory hath spread in the world.
ਦੇਤਹੈਅਸੀਸਦਿਜਰਾਜਰਿਖਿਬਾਰਿਬਾਰਿਤਹਾਹੀਪੜਿਓਹੈਬ੍ਰਹਮਕਉਚਹੂੰਕੋਜਾਪਹੈ॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ('ਦਿਜ ਰਾਜ') ਰਾਜ-ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ 'ਬ੍ਰਹਮ-ਕਵਚ' (ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਚਾਰਿਆ ਸਤੋਤ੍ਰ) ਜਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
“All the sages, spiritual as well as royal bless Thee again and again, they have revited there the mantra called ‘Brahm-Kavach’ (the spiritual coat of mail).”
ਐਸੇਜਸੁਪੂਰਰਹਿਓਚੰਡਿਕਾਕੋਤੀਨਲੋਕਿਜੈਸੇਧਾਰਸਾਗਰਮੈਗੰਗਾਜੀਕੋਆਪੁਹੈ॥੨੨੭॥
ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਡੀ ਦਾ ਯਸ਼ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੂਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗੰਗਾ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਲ ('ਆਪੁ') ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੨੭॥
The praise of Chandika pervades thus in all the three worlds like the merging of the pure water of the ganges in the current of the ocean.227.

ਦੇਹਿਅਸੀਸਸਭੈਸੁਰਨਾਰਿਸੁਧਾਰਿਕੈਆਰਤੀਦੀਪਜਗਾਇਓ॥
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇਵ-ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ (ਚੰਡੀ ਨੂੰ) ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਰਤੀ ਸਿਰਜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਦੀਪਕ ਜਗਾਏ ਹਨ।
All the women of the gods bless the goddess and performing the aarti (the religious ceremony performed around the image of the deity) they have lighted the lamps.
ਫੂਲਸੁਗੰਧਸੁਅਛਤਦਛਨਜਛਨਜੀਤਕੋਗੀਤਸੁਗਾਇਓ॥
ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੁਗੰਧੀ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਵਲ ਵਾਰਦੀਆਂ ('ਦੱਛਨ') ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਕਸ਼-ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ('ਜੱਛਨ') ਜਿਤ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
They offer flowers, fragrance and rice and the women of Yakshas sing songs of victory.
ਧੂਪਜਗਾਇਕੈਸੰਖਬਜਾਇਕੈਸੀਸਨਿਵਾਇਕੈਬੈਨਸੁਨਾਇਓ॥
ਧੂਪ ਜਗਾ ਕੇ, ਸੰਖ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ, ਸਿਰ ਝੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ
They burn the incence and blow the conch and supplicate bowing their heads.
ਹੇਜਗਮਾਇਸਦਾਸੁਖਦਾਇਤੈਸੁੰਭਕੋਘਾਇਬਡੋਜਸੁਪਾਇਓ॥੨੨੮॥
ਕਿ ਹੇ ਜਗਤਮਾਤਾ! ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਯਸ਼ ਖਟਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੨੨੮॥
“O Universal mother, ever Giver of the comfort, by killing Sumbh, Thou hast earned a great approhbation.”228.
ਸਕ੍ਰਹਿਸਾਜਿਸਮਾਜਦੈਚੰਡਸੁਮੋਦਮਹਾਮਨਮਾਹਿਰਈਹੈ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ('ਸਕ੍ਰ') ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
Giving all the royal paraphernalia to Indra, Chandi is very much pleased in her mind.
ਸੂਰਸਸੀਨਭਿਥਾਪਕੈਤੇਜੁਦੇਆਪਤਹਾਤੇਸੁਲੋਪਭਈਹੈ॥
ਸੂਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਸਥਿਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਚੰਡੀ) ਆਪ ਉਥੋਂ ਲੋਪ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
Sabilising the sun and moon in the sky and making them glorious, she herself hath disappeared.
ਬੀਚਅਕਾਸਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਬਢਿਓਤਿਹਕੀਉਪਮਾਮਨਤੇਨਗਈਹੈ॥
ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ (ਸੂਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਵਧ ਗਿਆ। ਉਸ (ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼) ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਤੋਂ ਭੁਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
The light of sun and moon hath increased in the sky, the powt hath not forgotten its comparison from his mind.
ਧੂਰਿਕੈਪੂਰਮਲੀਨਹੁਤੋਰਵਿਮਾਨਹੁਚੰਡਿਕਾਓਪਦਈਹੈ॥੨੨੯॥
(ਲੜਾਈ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਠੀ) ਧੂੜ ਦੇ ਪਸਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸੂਰਜ ('ਰਵਿ') ਮਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਮਾਨੋ ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਤੇਜ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਚਮਕਦਾਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੨੨੯॥
It seemed that the sun had become filthy with dust and the goddess Chandi hath given him the splendour.229.

ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਮਧੁ ਅਤੇ ਕੈਟਭ (ਦੈਂਤਾਂ) ਦਾ ਘਮੰਡ ਤੋੜਨ ਵਾਲੀ, ਫਿਰ ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਣ ਮਸਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ, ਵਰ ਦੇਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ,
She who is the destroyer of the pride of Madhu nad Kaitabh and then the ego of Mahishasura nad who is very active in granting the boon.

ਧੂਮ੍ਰਲੋਚਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਨਾਇਕ ('ਧਰਨਧਰਿ') ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਪਟਕਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ,
She who dashed the tumultuous Dhumar Lochan against the earth and sliced the heads of Chand and Mund.
ਰਕਤਬੀਰਜਹਰਨਰਕਤਭਛਨਕਰਨਦਰਨਅਨਸੁੰਭਰਨਿਰਾਰਰਿਸਮੰਡਕਾ॥
ਰਕਤ-ਬੀਜ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਅਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਲਹੂ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੀ, ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਲਣ ਵਾਲੀ, ਨਿਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਨਾਲ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ,
She who is the killer of Raktavija and drinker of his blood, masher of the enemies and beginner of the war with Nisumbh with great ire in the battlefield.
ਸੰਭਬਲੁਧਾਰਸੰਘਾਰਕਰਵਾਰਕਰਿਸਕਲਖਲੁਅਸੁਰਦਲੁਜੈਤਜੈਚੰਡਿਕਾ॥੨੩੦॥
ਸ਼ੁੰਭ ਨੂੰ ਬਲ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਘਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਚੰਡੀ ਦੀ ਜੈ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੨੩੦॥
She who is the destroyer of the powerful Sumbh with sword in her hand and is the conqueror of all the forces of foolish demons, HAIL, HAIL To THAT CHANDI.230.

ਦੇਹਸਿਵਾਬਰੁਮੋਹਿਇਹੈਸੁਭਕਰਮਨਤੇਕਬਹੂੰਨਟਰੋ॥
ਹੇ ਸ਼ਿਵਾ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵਰ ਦੇ ਕਿ (ਮੈਂ) ਸ਼ੁਭ ਕੰਮਾਂ (ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨੋਂ) ਨਾ ਟਲਾਂ।
O Goddess, grant me this that I may not hesitate from performing good actions.
ਨਡਰੋਅਰਿਸੋਜਬਜਾਇਲਰੋਨਿਸਚੈਕਰਿਅਪੁਨੀਜੀਤਕਰੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਾਲ (ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਲੜਾਂ ਤਾਂ (ਜ਼ਰਾ) ਨਾ ਡਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਾਂ।
I may not fear the enemy, when I go to fight and assuredly I may become victorious.
ਅਰੁਸਿਖਹੌਆਪਨੇਹੀਮਨਕੋਇਹਲਾਲਚਹਉਗੁਨਤਉਉਚਰੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਸਦਾ) ਇਹ ਲਾਲਚ (ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ) ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।
And I may give this instruction to my mind and have this tempotration that I may ever utter Thy Praises.
ਜਬਆਵਕੀਅਉਧਨਿਦਾਨਬਨੈਅਤਿਹੀਰਨਮੈਤਬਜੂਝਮਰੋ॥੨੩੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਅਤਿ ਦੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਲੜਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਰ ਜਾਵਾਂ ॥੨੩੧॥
When the end of my life comes, then I may die fighting in the battlefield.231.
ਚੰਡਿਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਕਵਿਤਨਮੈਬਰਨਿਓਸਭਹੀਰਸਰੁਦ੍ਰਮਈਹੈ॥
ਚੰਡੀ-ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਕਥਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। (ਇਹ) ਸਾਰੀ (ਕਵਿਤਾ) ਰੌਦਰਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖੀ ਹੈ।
I have narrated this Chandi Charitra in poetry, which is all full of Rudra Rasa (sentiment of ragge).
ਏਕਤੇਏਕਰਸਾਲਭਇਓਨਖਤੇਸਿਖਲਉਉਪਮਾਸੁਨਈਹੈ॥
ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਇਕ (ਉਕਤੀ) ਰਸ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਤ ਤਕ (ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਹੁੰਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਰ ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਤਕ) ਹਰ ਉਪਮਾ ਨਵੀਂ ਹੈ।
The stanzas one and all, are beautifully composed, which contain new sillies from beginning to end.
ਕਉਤਕਹੇਤੁਕਰੀਕਵਿਨੇਸਤਿਸਯਕੀਕਥਾਇਹਪੂਰੀਭਈਹੈ॥
ਕਵੀ ਨੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਵਿਲਾਸ ('ਕਉਤਕ') ਲਈ ਇਕ ਕਾਵਿ-ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। 'ਸਤਸਈ' ਦੀ ਇਹ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਥਾ ਵਰਣਿਤ ਹੈ।
The poet hath composed it for the pleasure of his mind, and the discourse of seven hundred sholokas is completed here.
ਜਾਹਿਨਮਿਤਪੜੈਸੁਨਿਹੈਨਰਸੋਨਿਸਚੈਕਰਿਤਾਹਿਦਈਹੈ॥੨੩੨॥
ਜਿਸ (ਮਨੋਰਥ) ਲਈ (ਕੋਈ) ਪੁਰਸ਼ (ਇਸ ਰਚਨਾ ਨੂੰ) ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣੇਗਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਵਸ਼ ਹੀ (ਦੇਵੀ) ਉਹੀ (ਵਰ) ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰੇਗੀ ॥੨੩੨॥
For whatever purpose a person ready it or listens to it, the hgoddess will assuredly grant him that.232.

ਗ੍ਰੰਥਸਤਿਸਇਆਕੋਕਰਿਓਜਾਸਮਅਵਰੁਨਕੋਇ॥
(ਮੈਂ) 'ਸਤਸਈ' (ਦੁਰਗਾ ਸਪਤਸ਼ਤੀ) ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ (ਗ੍ਰੰਥ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
I have translated the book named Satsayya (a poem of seven hundred shalokas), which hath nothing equal to it.
ਜਿਹਨਮਿਤਕਵਿਨੇਕਹਿਓਸੁਦੇਹਚੰਡਿਕਾਸੋਇ॥੨੩੩॥
ਹੇ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਲਈ ਕਵੀ ਨੇ (ਇਹ ਕਥਾ) ਕਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਹੀ (ਮਨੋਰਥ) ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੋ ॥੨੩੩॥
The purpose for which the poet hath comosed it, Chandi may grant him the same.233.

ਇਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਉਕਤਿ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਦੇ 'ਦੇਵ ਸੁਰੇਸ ਸਹਿਤ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰਾ' ਅੱਠਵਾਂ ਅਧਿਆਇ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਭ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਹੈ ॥੮॥

ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ (ਨਾਂ ਦੇ) ਦੈਂਤ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਨੇ
ਬਢਿਯੋਸੋਲੋਹਪੂਰਯੰ॥
(ਆਪਣੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ) ਵਧਾ ਲਈ, ਉਹ ਲੋਹੇ (ਦੇ ਕਵਚ ਨਾਲ) ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਢਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
He conquered Indra, the king of gods
ਸੁਦੇਵਰਾਜਜੀਤਯੰ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਲਿਆ
ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਕਰਾਜਕੀਤਯੰ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਰਾਜ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥
And ruled over the three worlds.1.
ਭਜੇਸੁਦੇਵਤਾਤਬੈ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਜ ਗਏ
At that time the gods ran away
ਇਕਤ੍ਰਹੋਇਕੈਸਬੈ॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ
And all of them gathered together.
ਮਹੇਸੁਰਾਚਲੰਬਸੇ॥
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤ (ਕੈਲਾਸ਼) ਉਤੇ ਜਾ ਵਸੇ।
They inhabited the Kailash mountain
ਬਿਸੇਖਚਿਤਮੋਤ੍ਰਸੇ॥੨॥
ਉਹ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ॥੨॥
With great fear in their mind.2.
ਜੁਗੇਸਭੇਸਧਾਰਕੈ॥
ਹਥਿਆਰ ਸੁਟ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ
They disguised themselves as great Yogis
ਭਜੇਹਥਿਯਾਰਡਾਰਕੈ॥
ਉਹ ਭਜ ਗਏ।
And throwing their weapons, they all ran away.
ਪੁਕਾਰਆਰਤੰਚਲੈ॥
ਦੁਖੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੁਕਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ
Crying in great distress they walked.
ਬਿਸੂਰਸੂਰਮਾਭਲੇ॥੩॥
ਚੰਗੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਝੂਰਦੇ ਤੁਰੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ॥੩॥
The fine heroes were in great agony.3.
ਬਰਖਕਿਤੇਤਹਾਰਹੇ॥
ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ
They lived there for may years
ਸੁਦੁਖਦੇਹਮੋਸਹੇ॥
ਉਹ ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਉਥੇ ਰਹੇ
And endured many sufferings on their bodies.
ਜਗਤ੍ਰਮਾਤਿਧਿਆਇਯੰ॥
ਅਤੇ ਜਗਤ ਮਾਤਾ (ਦੇਵੀ) ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ,
They mediated on the mother of the universe
ਸੁਜੈਤਪਤ੍ਰਪਾਇਯੰ॥੪॥
ਜਿਤ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ॥੪॥
For conquering the demon Mahishasura.4.
ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਦੇਵਤਾਭਏ॥
(ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ) ਦੇਵਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ
The gods wrere pleased
ਚਰੰਨਪੂਜਬੇਧਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਜਣ ਲਈ ਅਗੇ ਵਧੇ।
And sped to worship the feet of the goddess.
ਸਨੰਮੁਖਾਨਠਢੀਯੰ॥
(ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇ) ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਖੜੋ ਗਏ
They stood before her
ਪ੍ਰਣਾਮਪਾਠਪਢੀਯੰ॥੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਨਾਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਦੇਵੀ ਸਤੋਤ੍ਰ ਦਾ) ਪਾਠ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਗੇ ॥੫॥
And recited her eulogy.5.
