ੴਸਤਿਨਾਮੁਕਰਤਾਪੁਰਖੁਨਿਰਭਉਨਿਰਵੈਰੁਅਕਾਲਮੂਰਤਿਅਜੂਨੀਸੈਭੰਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ 'ਹੋਂਦ ਵਾਲਾ' ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਭੈ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਵੈਰ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਕਾਲ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸ-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ), ਜੋ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਰਾਗੁਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀਮਹਲਾ੯॥
ਰਾਗ ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
Raag Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mahalaa:
ਰਾਮੁਸਿਮਰਿਰਾਮੁਸਿਮਰਿਇਹੈਤੇਰੈਕਾਜਿਹੈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ! ਇਹ (ਸਿਮਰਨ) ਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ (ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ।
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord - meditate on the Lord; this alone shall be of use to you.
ਮਾਇਆਕੋਸੰਗੁਤਿਆਗਿਪ੍ਰਭਜੂਕੀਸਰਨਿਲਾਗੁ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ।
Abandon your association with Maya, and take shelter in the Sanctuary of God.
ਜਗਤਸੁਖਮਾਨੁਮਿਥਿਆਝੂਠੋਸਭੁਸਾਜੁਹੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਸਮਝ! ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ (ਹੀ) ਸਾਥ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Remember that the pleasures of the world are false; this whole show is just an illusion. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਪਨੇਜਿਉਧਨੁਪਛਾਨੁਕਾਹੇਪਰਿਕਰਤਮਾਨੁ॥
ਇਸ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਪਨੇ (ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ) ਵਾਂਗ ਸਮਝ, ਤੂੰ ਕਾਹਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
You must understand that this wealth is just a dream. Why are you so proud?
ਬਾਰੂਕੀਭੀਤਿਜੈਸੇਬਸੁਧਾਕੋਰਾਜੁਹੈ॥੧॥
(ਸਾਰੀ) ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ (ਭੀ) ਰੇਤ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
The empires of the earth are like walls of sand. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕਜਨੁਕਹਤਬਾਤਬਿਨਸਿਜੈਹੈਤੇਰੋਗਾਤੁ॥
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ) ਗੱਲ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੇਰਾ (ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸਰੀਰ (ਭੀ) ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਇਗਾ।
Servant Nanak speaks the Truth: your body shall perish and pass away.
ਛਿਨੁਛਿਨੁਕਰਿਗਇਓਕਾਲੁਤੈਸੇਜਾਤੁਆਜੁਹੈ॥੨॥੧॥
(ਵੇਖ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ) ਕੱਲ (ਦਾ ਦਿਨ) ਛਿਨ ਛਿਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬੀਤ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਜ (ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਭੀ) ਲੰਘਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥
Moment by moment, yesterday passed. Today is passing as well. ||2||1||
ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀਮਹਲਾ੯॥
Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mahalaa:
ਰਾਮੁਭਜੁਰਾਮੁਭਜੁਜਨਮੁਸਿਰਾਤੁਹੈ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਿਆ ਕਰ! ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Meditate on the Lord - vibrate on the Lord; your life is slipping away.
ਕਹਉਕਹਾਬਾਰਬਾਰਸਮਝਤਨਹਕਿਉਗਵਾਰ॥
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਮੈਂ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੀਹ ਆਖਾਂ? ਤੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ?
Why am I telling you this again and again? You fool - why don't you understand?
ਬਿਨਸਤਨਹਲਗੈਬਾਰਓਰੇਸਮਗਾਤੁਹੈ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
(ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ) ਸਰੀਰ (ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਿਚ) ਗੜੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਦੇ) ਨਾਸ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਚਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Your body is like a hail-stone; it melts away in no time at all. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲਭਰਮਡਾਰਿਦੇਹਿਗੋਬਿੰਦਕੋਨਾਮੁਲੇਹਿ॥
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਟਕਣਾਂ ਛੱਡ ਦੇਹ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰ।
So give up all your doubts, and utter the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅੰਤਬਾਰਸੰਗਿਤੇਰੈਇਹੈਏਕੁਜਾਤੁਹੈ॥੧॥
ਅੰਤਲੇ ਸਮੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
At the very last moment, this alone shall go along with you. ||1||
ਬਿਖਿਆਬਿਖੁਜਿਉਬਿਸਾਰਿਪ੍ਰਭਕੋਜਸੁਹੀਏਧਾਰਿ॥
ਮਾਇਆ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਹ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ!
Forget the poisonous sins of corruption, and enshrine the Praises of God in your heart.
ਨਾਨਕਜਨੁਕਹੈਪੁਕਾਰਿਅਉਸਰੁਬਿਹਾਤੁਹੈ॥੨॥੨॥
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਕੂਕ ਕੂਕ ਕੇ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਾ ਸਮਾ) ਬੀਤਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥
Servant Nanak proclaims that this opportunity is slipping away. ||2||2||
ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀਮਹਲਾ੯॥
Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mahalaa:
ਰੇਮਨਕਉਨਗਤਿਹੋਇਹੈਤੇਰੀ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਸੋਚ ਕਿ) ਤੇਰੀ ਕੀਹ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ?
O mortal, what will your condition be?
ਇਹਜਗਮਹਿਰਾਮਨਾਮੁਸੋਤਉਨਹੀਸੁਨਿਓਕਾਨ॥
ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਤੇਰਾ ਅਮਲ ਸਾਥੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਨਾਮ) ਤੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ।
In this world, you have not listened to the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਖਿਅਨਸਿਉਅਤਿਲੁਭਾਨਿਮਤਿਨਾਹਿਨਫੇਰੀ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਸੁਰਤ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਕਦੇ) ਪਰਤਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
You are totally engrossed in corruption and sin; you have not turned your mind away from them at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਨਸਕੋਜਨਮੁਲੀਨਸਿਮਰਨੁਨਹਨਿਮਖਕੀਨ॥
ਤੂੰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ (ਤਾਂ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ।
You obtained this human life, but you have not remembered the Lord in meditation, even for an instant.
ਦਾਰਾਸੁਖਭਇਓਦੀਨਪਗਹੁਪਰੀਬੇਰੀ॥੧॥
ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ (ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਬੇੜੀ ਪਈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
For the sake of pleasure, you have become subservient to your woman, and now your feet are bound. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕਜਨੁਕਹੈਪੁਕਾਰਿਸੁਪਨੇਜਿਉਜਗਪਸਾਰੁ॥
ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਖਿਲਾਰਾ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ।
Servant Nanak proclaims that the vast expanse of this world is just a dream.
ਸਿਮਰਤਨਹਿਕਿਉਮੁਰਾਰਿਮਾਇਆਜਾਕੀਚੇਰੀ॥੨॥੩॥
ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ॥੨॥੩॥
Why not meditate on the Lord? Even Maya is His slave. ||2||3||
ਜੈਜਾਵੰਤੀਮਹਲਾ੯॥
Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mahalaa:
ਬੀਤਿਜੈਹੈਬੀਤਿਜੈਹੈਜਨਮੁਅਕਾਜੁਰੇ॥
ਜੀਵਨ (ਦਾ ਸਮਾ) ਅਸਫਲ ਲੰਘਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Slipping away - your life is uselessly slipping away.
ਨਿਸਿਦਿਨੁਸੁਨਿਕੈਪੁਰਾਨਸਮਝਤਨਹਰੇਅਜਾਨ॥
ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ! ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਪੁਰਾਣ (ਆਦਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਭੀ) ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ।
Night and day, you listen to the Puraanas, but you do not understand them, you ignorant fool!
ਕਾਲੁਤਉਪਹੂਚਿਓਆਨਿਕਹਾਜੈਹੈਭਾਜਿਰੇ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਮੌਤ (ਦਾ ਸਮਾ) ਤਾਂ (ਨੇੜੇ) ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਹੈ (ਦੱਸ, ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਭੱਜ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਏਂਗਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Death has arrived; now where will you run? ||1||Pause||
