ਕਵਿਕੀਰਤਜੋਸੰਤਚਰਨਮੁੜਿਲਾਗਹਿਤਿਨੑਕਾਮਕ੍ਰੋਧਜਮਕੋਨਹੀਤ੍ਰਾਸੁ॥
ਹੇ ਕਵੀ ਕੀਰਤ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਸੰਤ (ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਤੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ।
So speaks Keerat the poet: those who grasp hold of the feet of the Saints, are not afraid of death, sexual desire or anger.
ਜਿਵਅੰਗਦੁਅੰਗਿਸੰਗਿਨਾਨਕਗੁਰਤਿਵਗੁਰਅਮਰਦਾਸਕੈਗੁਰੁਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ॥੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਅੰਗਦ (ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ) ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ (ਰਹੇ, ਭਾਵ, ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਰਹੇ), ਤਿਵੇਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਦੇ (ਨਾਲ ਰਹੇ) ॥੧॥
Just as Guru Nanak was part and parcel, life and limb with Guru Angad, so is Guru Amar Daas one with Guru Raam Daas. ||1||
ਜਿਨਿਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸੇਵਿਪਦਾਰਥੁਪਾਯਉਨਿਸਿਬਾਸੁਰਹਰਿਚਰਨਨਿਵਾਸੁ॥
ਜਿਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਲੱਭਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਿਰ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
Whoever serves the True Guru obtains the treasure; night and day, he dwells at the Lord's Feet.
ਤਾਤੇਸੰਗਤਿਸਘਨਭਾਇਭਉਮਾਨਹਿਤੁਮਮਲੀਆਗਰਪ੍ਰਗਟੁਸੁਬਾਸੁ॥
ਉਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਪਾਸੋਂ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ (ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਭਉ ਮੰਨਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਕਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ)-("ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ!) ਆਪ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਮਿੱਠੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ।"
And so, the entire Sangat loves, fears and respects You. You are the sandalwood tree; Your fragrance spreads gloriously far and wide.
ਧ੍ਰੂਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦਕਬੀਰਤਿਲੋਚਨਨਾਮੁਲੈਤਉਪਜੵੋਜੁਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ॥
ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਚਾਨਣ (ਦਿੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ),
Dhroo, Prahlaad, Kabeer and Trilochan chanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and His Illumination radiantly shines forth.
ਜਿਹਪਿਖਤਅਤਿਹੋਇਰਹਸੁਮਨਿਸੋਈਸੰਤਸਹਾਰੁਗੁਰੂਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ॥੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬੜਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
Seeing Him, the mind is totally delighted; Guru Raam Daas is the Helper and Support of the Saints. ||2||
ਨਾਨਕਿਨਾਮੁਨਿਰੰਜਨਜਾਨੵਉਕੀਨੀਭਗਤਿਪ੍ਰੇਮਲਿਵਲਾਈ॥
(ਗੁਰੂ) ਨਾਨਕ (ਦੇਵ ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
Guru Nanak realized the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord. He was lovingly attuned to loving devotional worship of the Lord.
ਤਾਤੇਅੰਗਦੁਅੰਗਸੰਗਿਭਯੋਸਾਇਰੁਤਿਨਿਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਕੀਨੀਵਰਖਾਈ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ-ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ (ਹੋਏ, ਜੋ) ਸਦਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕੇ ਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 'ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਰਤ' ਦੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਕੀਤੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੀ ਵੰਡ ਵੰਡੀ)।
Guru Angad was with Him, life and limb, like the ocean; He showered His consciousness with the Word of the Shabad.
ਗੁਰਅਮਰਦਾਸਕੀਅਕਥਕਥਾਹੈਇਕਜੀਹਕਛੁਕਹੀਨਜਾਈ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਕਥਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ), ਮੇਰੀ ਇਕ ਜੀਭ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਛ ਆਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ।
The Unspoken Speech of Guru Amar Daas cannot be expressed with only one tongue.
ਸੋਢੀਸ੍ਰਿਸ੍ਟਿਸਕਲਤਾਰਣਕਉਅਬਗੁਰਰਾਮਦਾਸਕਉਮਿਲੀਬਡਾਈ॥੩॥
ਹੁਣ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ) ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੋਢੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਨੂੰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Guru Raam Daas of the Sodhi dynasty has now been blessed with Glorious Greatness, to carry the whole world across. ||3||
ਹਮਅਵਗਣਿਭਰੇਏਕੁਗੁਣੁਨਾਹੀਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁਛਾਡਿਬਿਖੈਬਿਖੁਖਾਈ॥
ਅਸੀਂ ਅਉਗਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ, (ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਕ ਭੀ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ (-ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਨਿਰੀ ਵਿਹੁ ਹੀ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੈ।
I am overflowing with sins and demerits; I have no merits or virtues at all. I abandoned the Ambrosial Nectar, and I drank poison instead.
ਮਾਯਾਮੋਹਭਰਮਪੈਭੂਲੇਸੁਤਦਾਰਾਸਿਉਪ੍ਰੀਤਿਲਗਾਈ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਅਤੇ ਭਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ (ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ) ਭੁੱਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਸਾਂ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
I am attached to Maya, and deluded by doubt; I have fallen in love with my children and spouse.
ਇਕੁਉਤਮਪੰਥੁਸੁਨਿਓਗੁਰਸੰਗਤਿਤਿਹਮਿਲੰਤਜਮਤ੍ਰਾਸਮਿਟਾਈ॥
ਅਸਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਕ ਉੱਚਾ ਰਾਹ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਜਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਮਿਟਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
I have heard that the most exalted Path of all is the Sangat, the Guru's Congregation. Joining it, the fear of death is taken away.
ਇਕਅਰਦਾਸਿਭਾਟਕੀਰਤਿਕੀਗੁਰਰਾਮਦਾਸਰਾਖਹੁਸਰਣਾਈ॥੪॥੫੮॥
'ਕੀਰਤ' ਭੱਟ ਦੀ ਹੁਣ ਇਕ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ! ਆਪਣੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਰੱਖੋ ॥੪॥੫੮॥
Keerat the poet offers this one prayer: O Guru Raam Daas, save me! Take me into Your Sanctuary! ||4||58||
ਮੋਹੁਮਲਿਬਿਵਸਿਕੀਅਉਕਾਮੁਗਹਿਕੇਸਪਛਾੜੵਉ॥
(ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ!) ਆਪ ਨੇ 'ਮੋਹ' ਨੂੰ ਮਲ ਕੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ 'ਕਾਮ' ਨੂੰ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਭੁੰਞੇ ਪਟਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
He has crushed and overpowered emotional attachment. He seized sexual desire by the hair, and threw it down.
ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਖੰਡਿਪਰਚੰਡਿਲੋਭੁਅਪਮਾਨਸਿਉਝਾੜੵਉ॥
(ਤੁਸਾਂ) 'ਕਰੋਧ' ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਾਤਪ ਨਾਲ ਟੋਟੇ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ 'ਲੋਭ' ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਨੇ ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਰੇ ਦੁਰਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
With His Power, He cut anger into pieces, and sent greed away in disgrace.
ਜਨਮੁਕਾਲੁਕਰਜੋੜਿਹੁਕਮੁਜੋਹੋਇਸੁਮੰਨੈ॥
'ਜਨਮ' ਤੇ 'ਮਰਨ' ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਆਪ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ।
Life and death, with palms pressed together, respect and obey the Hukam of His Command.
ਭਵਸਾਗਰੁਬੰਧਿਅਉਸਿਖਤਾਰੇਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੈ॥
ਆਪ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ ਨੇ, ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ, ਸਿੱਖ (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਤਾਰ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
He brought the terrifying world-ocean under His Control; by His Pleasure, He carried His Sikhs across.
ਸਿਰਿਆਤਪਤੁਸਚੌਤਖਤੁਜੋਗਭੋਗਸੰਜੁਤੁਬਲਿ॥
(ਆਪ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਛਤਰ ਹੈ, (ਆਪ ਦਾ) ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਰਾਜ ਤੇ ਜੋਗ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ, ਤੇ ਬਲੀ ਹੋ।
He is seated upon the Throne of Truth, with the canopy above His Head; He is embellished with the powers of Yoga and the enjoyment of pleasures.
ਗੁਰਰਾਮਦਾਸਸਚੁਸਲੵਭਣਿਤੂਅਟਲੁਰਾਜਿਅਭਗੁਦਲਿ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਸਲ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਕਵੀ! ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਆਖ "ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ! ਤੂੰ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਾਜ ਵਾਲਾ ਤੇ (ਦੈਵੀ ਸੰਪਤੀ ਰੂਪ) ਨਾਹ ਨਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਫੌਜ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ" ॥੧॥
So speaks Sal the poet: O Guru Raam Daas, Your sovereign power is eternal and unbreakable; Your army is invincible. ||1||
ਤੂਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਚਹੁਜੁਗੀਆਪਿਆਪੇਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ॥
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ! ਤੂੰ ਚਾਰ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਥਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈਂ, (ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਨਜ਼ਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ) ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਹੈਂ।
You are the True Guru, throughout the four ages; You Yourself are the Transcendent Lord.
ਸੁਰਿਨਰਸਾਧਿਕਸਿਧਸਿਖਸੇਵੰਤਧੁਰਹਧੁਰੁ॥
ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਸਾਧਿਕ, ਸਿੱਧ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਉਂਦੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
The angelic beings, seekers, Siddhas and Sikhs have served You, since the very beginning of time.
ਆਦਿਜੁਗਾਦਿਅਨਾਦਿਕਲਾਧਾਰੀਤ੍ਰਿਹੁਲੋਅਹ॥
(ਆਪ) ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ, ਜੁਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਦੀ ਹੋ। ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਆਪ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਸੱਤਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
You are the Primal Lord God, from the very beginning, and throughout the ages; Your Power supports the three worlds.
ਅਗਮਨਿਗਮਉਧਰਣਜਰਾਜੰਮਿਹਿਆਰੋਅਹ॥
(ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਵੇਦ ਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਸੀ (ਵਰਾਹ-ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ)। ਆਪ ਬੁਢੇਪੇ ਤੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ (ਭਾਵ, ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ)।
You are Inaccessible; You are the Saving Grace of the Vedas. You have conquered old age and death.
ਗੁਰਅਮਰਦਾਸਿਥਿਰੁਥਪਿਅਉਪਰਗਾਮੀਤਾਰਣਤਰਣ॥
(ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ (ਜੀ) ਨੇ ਅਟੱਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੋ।
Guru Amar Daas has permanently established You; You are the Emancipator, to carry all across to the other side.
ਅਘਅੰਤਕਬਦੈਨਸਲੵਕਵਿਗੁਰਰਾਮਦਾਸਤੇਰੀਸਰਣ॥੨॥੬੦॥
ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ! ਸਲ੍ਯ੍ਯ ਕਵੀ (ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ)-ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਤੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੬੦॥
So speaks Sal the poet: O Guru Raam Daas, You are the Destroyer of sins; I seek Your Sanctuary. ||2||60||
ਸਵਈਏਮਹਲੇਪੰਜਵੇਕੇ੫॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਉਚਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਵਈਏ।
Swaiyas In Praise Of The Fifth Mahalaa:
ੴਸਤਿਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸਿਮਰੰਸੋਈਪੁਰਖੁਅਚਲੁਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ॥
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਤੇ ਅਚੱਲ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
Meditate in remembrance on the Primal Lord God, Eternal and Imperishable.
ਜਿਸੁਸਿਮਰਤਦੁਰਮਤਿਮਲੁਨਾਸੀ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਰਮੱਤ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
Remembering Him in meditation, the filth of evil-mindedness is eradicated.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਚਰਣਕਵਲਰਿਦਿਧਾਰੰ॥
ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕਵਲਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ,
I enshrine the Lotus Feet of the True Guru within my heart.
