ਹੁਣ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ (ਉਕਤਿ-ਬਿਲਾਸ) ਲਿਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ

ਆਦਿਅਪਾਰਅਲੇਖਅਨੰਤਅਕਾਲਅਭੇਖਅਲਖਅਨਾਸਾ॥
(ਜੋ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਮੁੱਢ, ਪਾਰ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਲਿਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ, ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਕਾਲ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਭੇਖ-ਰਹਿਤ, ਨਾ ਵੇਖੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਸ਼-ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ;
The Lord is Primal, Infinite, Account less, Boundless, Deathless, Garbless, Incomprehensible and Eternal.
ਕੈਸਿਵਸਕਤਦਏਸ੍ਰੁਤਿਚਾਰਰਜੋਤਮਸਤਤਿਹੂੰਪੁਰਬਾਸਾ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਸ਼ਿਵ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀ, ਚਾਰ ਵੇਦ, ਰਜੋ-ਤਮੋ-ਸਤੋ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ;
He created Shiva-Shakti, forur Vedas and three modes of maya and Pervades in three worlds.
ਦਿਉਸਨਿਸਾਸਸਿਸੂਰਕੇਦੀਪਕਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿਰਚੀਪੰਚਤਤਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਾ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਦਿਨ, ਰਾਤ, ਸੂਰਜ, ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਦੀਪਕ (ਬਣਾਏ ਹਨ) ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜ ਤੱਤ੍ਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ;
He created day and night, the lamps of sun and moon and the whole world with five elements.
ਬੈਰਬਢਾਇਲਰਾਇਸੁਰਾਸੁਰਆਪਹਿਦੇਖਤਬੈਠਤਮਾਸਾ॥੧॥
(ਜੋ) ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੈਰ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ) ਲੜਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪ (ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਲਗ ਥਲਗ) ਬੈਠਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
He extended enmity and fight between the gods and demons and Himself seated (on His Throne) scans it.1.

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਸਿੰਧੁਤੁਮਰੀਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਜੋਕਛਮੋਪਰਿਹੋਏ॥
ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਗਰ! ਜੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਝ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੋਏ,
O Ocean of Mercy, if Thy Grace is bestowed upon me:
ਰਚੋਚੰਡਿਕਾਕੀਕਥਾਬਾਣੀਸੁਭਸਭਹੋਇ॥੨॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ (ਅਤੇ) ਸਾਰੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ('ਬਾਣੀ') ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
I may compose the story of Chandika and my poetry be all good.2.
ਜੋਤਿਜਗਮਗੇਜਗਤਮੈਚੰਡਚਮੁੰਡਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀ) ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਗਮਗਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, (ਜੋ) ਚੰਡ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡ (ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਹੁਤ) ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਹੈ,
Thy light is shining in the world, O Powerful Chand-Chamunda!
ਭੁਜਦੰਡਨਦੰਡਨਿਅਸੁਰਮੰਡਨਭੁਇਨਵਖੰਡ॥੩॥
(ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ) ਭੁਜਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਡੰਡੇ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਜੋ) ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਨੌਂ ਖੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਸੱਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
Thou art the Punisher of the demons with Thy strong arms and art the Creator of the nine regions.3.
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ॥
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ:

ਤਾਰਨਲੋਕਉਧਾਰਨਭੂਮਹਿਦੈਤਸੰਘਾਰਨਚੰਡਿਤੁਹੀਹੈ॥
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ, ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਦਾ ਉੱਧਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ, ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਘਾਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ (ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੀ) ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਹੈਂ।
Thou art the same Chandika, who ferries across the people Thou art the redeemer of the earth and destroyer of the demons.
ਕਾਰਨਈਸਕਲਾਕਮਲਾਹਰਿਅਦ੍ਰਸੁਤਾਜਹਦੇਖੋਉਹੀਹੈ॥
(ਜਗਤ ਦੇ) ਕਾਰਨ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਲੱਛਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਰੂਪ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਜਿਥੇ ਵੇਖੋ ਉਹੀ ਹੈ।
Thou art the cause of the Shakti of Shiva, Lakshmi of Vishnu and Parvati, the daughter of Himavan, wherever we see, Thou art there.
ਤਾਮਸਤਾਮਮਤਾਨਮਤਾਕਵਿਤਾਕਵਿਕੇਮਨਮਧਿਗੁਹੀਹੈ॥
(ਤੂੰ ਹੀ) ਤਮੋ, ਰਜੋ ਅਤੇ ਸਤੋ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ (ਦੇ ਸਾਰ ਰੂਪ) ਕਵਿਤਾ ਕਵੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Thou art Tams, the quality of morbidity, mineness and modesty Thou art poetry, latent in the mind of the poet.
ਕੀਨੋਹੈਕੰਚਨਲੋਹਜਗਤ੍ਰਮੈਪਾਰਸਮੂਰਤਿਜਾਹਿਛੁਹੀਹੈ॥੪॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਪਾਰਸ-ਮੂਰਤੀ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਛੋਹ ਗਈ, ਉਹ ਲੋਹੇ ਤੋਂ ਸੋਨਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ॥੪॥
Thou art the philosopher’s stone in the world, which transforms the iron into gold that it touches.4.
ਦੋਹਰਾ॥

ਪ੍ਰਮੁਦਕਰਨਸਭਭੈਹਰਨਨਾਮੁਚੰਡਿਕਾਜਾਸੁ॥
(ਜੋ) ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਭੈ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਚੰਡਿਕਾ ਹੈ,
She shoes name is Chandika, delights and removes fear of all.
ਰਚੋਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਤੁਅਕਰੋਸਬੁਧਿਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ॥੫॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਅਲੌਕਿਕ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਉੱਤਮ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰੇਂ ॥੫॥
Illumine me with good intellect, so that I may compose Thy wonderful deeds.5.
ਪੁਨਹਾ॥
ਪੁਨਹਾ:
PUNHA
ਆਇਸਅਬਜੋਹੋਇਗ੍ਰੰਥਤਉਮੈਰਚੌ॥
ਹੁਣ ਜੇ (ਤੇਰੀ) ਆਗਿਆ ਹੋਏ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ।
If I am permitted now, I shall compose my Granth (book).
ਰਤਨਪ੍ਰਮੁਦਕਰਬਚਨਚੀਨਿਤਾਮੈਗਚੌ॥
ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਤੁਲ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ।
I shall find and set the delight-giving gem-like words.
ਭਾਖਾਸੁਭਸਭਕਰਹੋਧਰਿਹੋਕ੍ਰਿਤਮੈ॥
ਸਭ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਭਾਖਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਇਸ) ਰਚਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਾਂ।
In this composition, I shall use the beautiful language
ਅਦਭੁਤਿਕਥਾਅਪਾਰਸਮਝਕਰਿਚਿਤਮੈ॥੬॥
(ਅਤੇ) ਅਪਾਰ ਤੇ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਕਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ) ॥੬॥
And whatever I have thought in my mind, I shall narrate that wonderful story.6.
