ਕਿਜ਼ਰਆਬਰੰਗਅਸਤੁਸੀਮਾਬਤਨ॥੨੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਸੁਨਹਿਰੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਰਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਪਾਰੇ (ਵਾਂਗ ਚੰਚਲ ਸੀ) ॥੨੪॥
which was bedecked like a flower-vase.(24)
ਰਵਾਗਸ਼ਤਦਰਰਾਜਹਾਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ॥
ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਵਲ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਤੁਰ ਪਈ
She strolled through the numerous princes,
ਗੁਲੇਸੁਰਖ਼ਚੂੰਗੁੰਬਜ਼ੇਨਉਬਹਾਰ॥੨੫॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁਤ ਦੇ ਖਿੜੇ ਲਾਲ ਫੁਲ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੀ ॥੨੫॥
Like a red rose surmounts during the spring.(25)
ਬਦੁਜ਼ਦੀਦਦਿਲਰਾਜਹਾਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ॥
(ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨੇ) ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਚੁਰਾ ਲਿਆ।
She captured the hearts of many princes so much,
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਦਜ਼ਿਮੀਚੂੰਯਲੇਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ॥੨੬॥
ਉਹ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਡਿਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੬॥
That a number of them fell flat on the ground.(26)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦਬਾਗਬਰਵੈਕਿਖ਼ਾਤੂਨਖ਼ੇਸ਼॥
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਹਾ
They were taunted, ‘This one, the lady, who is present here,
ਕਿਈਂਉਮਦਹੇਰਾਜਹਾਉਤਰਦੇਸ਼॥੨੭॥
ਕਿ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
‘Is the daughter of the King of the North.(27)
ਵਜ਼ਾਦੁਖ਼ਤਰਹਸਤਈਂਬਛਤਰਾਮਤੀ॥
(ਉਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਬਛਤਰਾ ਮਤੀ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਹੈ
‘Bachtramati is such a daughter,
ਚੁਮਾਹੇਫ਼ਲਕਹਮਚੁਹੂਰੋਪਰੀ॥੨੮॥
ਜੋ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਵਰਗੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ) ਅਤੇ ਪਰੀ (ਵਾਂਗ ਸੂਖਮ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ) ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ ॥੨੮॥
‘Who shines in the sky like a fairy.(28)
ਸ੍ਵਯੰਬਰਦਰਾਮਦਚੁਮਾਹੇਫ਼ਲਕ॥
ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਵਾਂਗ ਇਹ ਸੁਅੰਬਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
‘She has come for the selection of her would-be husband,
ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤਹਸਿਫ਼ਤਓਚੁਜ਼ਾਤਸ਼ਮਲਕ॥੨੯॥
ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਫਰਿਸ਼ਤਿਆਂ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੯॥
‘Even the gods praise her because her body is as pretty as godesses.29)
ਕਿਰਾਦੌਲਤਇਕਬਾਲਯਾਰੀਦਿਹਦ॥
(ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ) ਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਮੱਦਦ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ
‘That one, whose luck would be sympathetic to him,
ਕਿਈਂਮਾਹਰੋਕਾਮਗ਼ਾਰੀਦਿਹਦ॥੩੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਵਰਗੀ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥
‘Could only secure this moonlit night beauty.’(30)
ਪਸੰਦਆਮਦਓਰਾਜਹਸੁਭਟਸਿੰਘਨਾਮ॥
ਉਸ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਨੂੰ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਇਆ,
But she selected the prince called Subhat Singh,
ਕਿਰਉਸ਼ਨਤਬੀਯਤਸਲੀਖ਼ਤਮੁਦਾਮ॥੩੧॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਭਾ ਉਜਲਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਹਸਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ ॥੩੧॥
Who was gentle in nature and was an enlightened man.(31)
ਰਵਾਕਰਦਬਰਵੈਵਕੀਲਸਗਿਰਾ॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਵਲ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ (ਵਕੀਲ) ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
He was sent a knowledgeable Counsellor,
ਕਿਏਸ਼ਾਹਸ਼ਾਹਾਨਰਉਸ਼ਨਜ਼ਮਾ॥੩੨॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮਾਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਮਾਨ (ਰਾਜੇ!) ॥੩੨॥
(Who pleaded,) ‘Oh you the brilliant one,(32)
ਕਿਈਂਤਰਜ਼ਲਾਲਾਇਬਰਗੇਸਮਨ॥
ਇਹ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਲਾਲਹ (ਪੋਸਤ) ਦੇ ਫੁਲ (ਵਾਂਗ ਸੁੰਦਰ) ਅਤੇ ਚਮੇਲੀ ਦੇ ਪੱਤਰ (ਵਰਗੀ ਕੋਮਲ) ਹੈ।
‘Here is she, who is delicate like the leaf of a flower,
ਕਿਲਾਇਕਸੁਮਾਨਅਸਤਈਂਰਾਬਕੁਨ॥੩੩॥
ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਵੋ (ਭਾਵ-ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲਵੋ) ॥੩੩॥
‘She is suitable for you and you accept her (as your wife).(33)
ਬਿਗੋਯਦਯਕੇਖ਼ਾਨਹਬਾਨੂਮਰਾਸਤ॥
(ਰਾਜਾ ਸੁਭਟ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ) ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਅਗੇ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੈ,
(He replied,) ‘There, I already have a wife,
ਕਿਚਸ਼ਮੇਅਜ਼ੋਹਰਦੁਆਹੂਤਰਾਸਤ॥੩੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਹਿਰਨ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ (ਵਾਂਗ ਸੁੰਦਰ) ਹਨ ॥੩੪॥
‘Whose eyes are as beautiful as the ones of a she-deer.(34)
ਕਿਹਰਗਿਜ਼ਮਨਈਂਰਾਨਕਰਦਮਕਬੂਲ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
‘Consequently, I cannot accept her,
ਕਿਕਉਲੇਕੁਰਾਅਸਤਕਸਮੇਰਸੂਲ॥੩੫॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰਸੂਲ ਦੀ ਕਸਮ ਹੈ ॥੩੫॥
‘As I am under command and oath of Quran and Rasool.‘(35)
ਬਗੋਸ਼ਅੰਦਰਆਮਦਅਜ਼ੀਂਨਸੁਖ਼ਨ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ (ਬਛਤਰਾ ਮਤੀ) ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਈ,
When her ears discerned such talks,
ਬਜੁੰਬਸ਼ਦਰਾਮਦਜ਼ਨੇਨੇਕਤਨ॥੩੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੇਕ ਲੜਕੀ ਰੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਈ ॥੩੬॥
Then, that delicate damsel, flew into rage.(36)
ਕਸੇਫ਼ਤਹਮਾਰਾਕੁਨਦਵਕਤਕਾਰ॥
(ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਾਈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਿਤੇਗਾ,
(She announced,) ‘Who-so-ever wins in the war,
ਵਜ਼ਾਸ਼ਾਹਿਮਾਰਾਸ਼ਵਦਈਂਦਿਯਾਰ॥੩੭॥
ਉਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਲਕ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੩੭॥
‘Will take me and become the ruler of her kingdom.‘(37)
ਬਕੋਸ਼ੀਦਮੈਦਾਨਜੋਸ਼ੀਦਜੰਗ॥
(ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨੇ) ਝਟ ਪਟ ਯੁੱਧ-ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਯੁੱਧ ਮਚਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ
She started to prepare for the war immediately,
ਬਪੋਸ਼ੀਦਖ਼ਫ਼ਤਾਨਪੋਲਾਦਰੰਗ॥੩੮॥
ਅਤੇ (ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ) ਫੌਲਾਦ ਦਾ ਕਵਚ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ॥੩੮॥
And put the steel armour on her body.(38)
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤਹਬਰਆਂਰਥਚੁਮਾਹੇਮੁਨੀਰ॥
ਪੁੰਨਿਆ ਦੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਵਰਗੀ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਰਥ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਗਈ।
She occupied a chariot, which was like the full moon.
ਬੁਬਸਤੰਦਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰਜੁਸਤੰਦਤੀਰ॥੩੯॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਤੀਰ ਫੜ ਲਏ ॥੩੯॥
She girded a sword and picked up effective arrows.(39)
ਬਮੈਦਾਦਰਆਮਦਜੁਗੁਰਰੀਦਸ਼ੇਰ॥
ਉਹ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਗਜਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਆ ਗਈ।
She entered the battlefield like a roaring lion,
ਚੁਸ਼ੇਰਅਸਤਸ਼ੇਰਅਫ਼ਕਨੋਦਿਲਦਲੇਰ॥੪੦॥
ਉਹ ਸ਼ੇਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਟਕਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬੜੀ ਸ਼ੇਰਦਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੇਰ ਸੀ ॥੪੦॥
As she was lion hearted, the killer of lions and of great courage.(40)
ਬਪੋਸ਼ੀਦਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਨਜੋਸ਼ੀਦਜੰਗ॥
ਉਸ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ) ਨੇ ਕਵਚ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਬੜੇ ਜੋਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ
With steel armours on her body, she fought valiantly,
ਬਕੋਸ਼ੀਦਮੈਦਾਨਤੀਰੋਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ॥੪੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਬੰਦੂਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੰਗ ਜਿਤਣ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੪੧॥
She tried to win with the help of arrows and guns.(41)
ਚੁਨਾਤੀਰਬਾਰਾਕੁਨਦਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ॥
ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ (ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ ਨੇ) ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਵਰਖਾ ਕੀਤੀ
In the rain storm of arrows,
ਕਿਲਸ਼ਕਰਬਕਾਰਆਮਦਸ਼ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ॥੪੨॥
(ਕਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੀ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਮਾਰੀ ਗਈ ॥੪੨॥
Most of the soldiers were killed.(42)
ਚੁਨਾਬਾਨਬਾਰੀਦਤੀਰੋਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ॥
(ਜੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਤੀਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੰਦੂਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੰਨੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੋਈ
The intensity of arrows and guns was so great,
ਬਸੋਮਰਦਮਾਮੁਰਦਹਸ਼ੁਦਜਾਇਜੰਗ॥੪੩॥
ਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ॥੪੩॥
That most of the men were annihilated.(43)
ਸਹੇਨਾਮਗਜਸਿੰਘਦਰਾਮਦਬਜੰਗ॥
ਇਸ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਇਆ
A Raja called Gaj Singh came into the battlefield,
ਚੁਕੈਬਰਕਮਾਹਮਚੁਤੀਰੋਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ॥੪੪॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਕਮਾਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤੀਰ ਛੁਟਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਬੰਦੂਕ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਗੋਲੀ ਚਲਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪੪॥
As swiftly as an arrow from the bow or a shot from the gun.(44)
ਬਜੁੰਬਸ਼ਦਰਾਮਦਚੁਅਫ਼ਰੀਤਮਸਤ॥
(ਰਾਜਾ ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ) ਦੈਂਤ ਵਾਂਗ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਇਆ।
He came in like an inebriated giant,
ਯਕੇਗੁਰਜ਼ਅਜ਼ਫ਼ੀਲਪੈਕਰਬਦਸਤ॥੪੫॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਥੀ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਗੁਰਜ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੪੫॥
He was like an elephant, and had a knobbed-head club in his hand.(45)
ਯਕੇਤੀਰਜ਼ਦਬਾਨੂਏਪਾਕਮਰਦ॥
ਉਸ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ (ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ) ਇਕ ਹੀ ਤੀਰ ਮਾਰਿਆ
She shot only one arrow towards that gentleman,
ਕਿਗਜਸਿੰਘਅਜ਼ਅਸਪਆਮਦਬਗਰਦ॥੪੬॥
ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਗਜ ਸਿੰਘ ਘੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਆਣ ਡਿਗਿਆ ॥੪੬॥
And Gaj Singh fell down from his horse.(46)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰਰਾਜਹਰਨਸਿੰਘਦਰਾਮਦਬਰੋਸ਼॥
ਦੂਜਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹੁਤ ਜੋਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ-ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ
Another Raja, Ran Singh, full of wrath came forward,
ਕਿਪਰਵਾਨਹੇਚੂੰਦਰਾਮਦਬਜੋਸ਼॥੪੭॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਪੂਰੇ ਜੋਸ਼ ਨਾਲ (ਦੀਪਕ ਉਤੇ) ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੭॥
And flew like a moth approaching the naked light (to burn).(47)
ਚੁਨਾਤੇਗ਼ਜ਼ਦਬਾਨੂਏਸ਼ੇਰਤਨ॥
ਸ਼ੇਰ ਵਰਗੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਮਾਰੀ
But when the lion-hearted brandished the sword,
