ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਲਾ ਦਾ ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਮਣਕਾ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਣਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਣਕਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਵਡਾਈ ਕਿਸ ਕੰਮ?
Just as main bead in a rosary is always put in the string first but being at higher place is not considered along with the other beads when the rosary is turned.

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇੱਲ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਚਾ ਉਡਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉੱਚੇ ਉਡ ਕੇ ਦੇਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਪਸ਼ੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਜਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ; ਕਿਸ ਕੰਮ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਮਤ ਪਾਈ?
Just as of all the birds that fly high, an eagle is supreme but when flying high, it only looks for dead bodies. What use is its ability to fly high?

ਤਿਵੇਂ ਗਾਉਣਾ, ਵਜਾਉਣਾ ਤੇ ਸੁਨਾਉਣਾ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਚੀ ਚਾਤੁਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਪਈ ਹੋਵੇ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਧ੍ਰਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੬੩੧॥
Similarly, without the teachings of True Guru, arrogant, cleverness is condemnable. Loud singing, playing or recitation of such a person is meaningless. (631)
