ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਰੁਬਿਸਨਨਿਜਤੇਜਕਾਢਿ॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਤੇਜ ਕਢ ਕੇ
ਆਏਸੁਮਧਿਅਨਿਸੂਆਛਾਡਿ॥੧੩॥
ਅਨਸੂਆ (ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ) ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੩॥
On returning, he married Ansuya, who had been blessed by Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu by their Lustre.13.
ਭਈਕਰਤਜੋਗਬਹੁਦਿਨਪ੍ਰਮਾਨ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤਕ (ਅਨਸੂਆ) ਯੋਗ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੀ।
ਅਨਸੂਆਨਾਮਗੁਨਗਨਮਹਾਨ॥
ਅਨਸੂਆ ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ (ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਸੀ।
Ansuya also, in consonance with her name, inspection being a charming lady, performed austerities
ਅਤਿਤੇਜਵੰਤਸੋਭਾਸੁਰੰਗ॥
(ਉਹ) ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜਸਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਸੀ।
ਜਨੁਧਰਾਰੂਪਦੂਸਰਅਨੰਗ॥੧੪॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਕਾਮਦੇਵ ਨੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੪॥
She was extremely lustrous and glorious and it appeared that she was the second manifestation of the goddess of love (Rati).14.
ਸੋਭਾਅਪਾਰਸੁੰਦਰਅਨੰਤ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਅਪਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
ਸਊਹਾਗਭਾਗਬਹੁਬਿਧਿਲਸੰਤ॥
(ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸੁਹਾਗ ਭਾਗ ਬਹੁਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਜਿਹਨਿਰਖਿਰੂਪਸੋਰਹਿਲੁਭਾਇ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੋਲ੍ਹਾਂ (ਕਲਾਵਾਂ) ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
ਆਭਾਅਪਾਰਬਰਨੀਨਜਾਇ॥੧੫॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਅਪਾਰ ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
That pretty and married fortunate woman was glorious in various ways on seeing whom, the personification of beauty also got allured her glory is indescribable.15.
ਨਿਸਨਾਥਦੇਖਿਆਨਨਰਿਸਾਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਜਲਿਜਾਇਨੈਨਲਹਿਰੋਸਮਾਨ॥
ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਮਲ ('ਜਲ ਜਾਇ') ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਮਨਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
Seeing her face, the moon was filled with jealousy and wept in affection
ਤਮਨਿਰਖਿਕੇਸਕੀਅਨੀਚਡੀਠ॥
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਕੇਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
ਛਪਿਰਹਾਜਾਨੁਗਿਰਹੇਮਪੀਠ॥੧੬॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਪਿਠ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਲੁਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ॥੧੬॥
Seeing her hair, he bowed down her looks and even the Sumeru mountain, seeing her beauty, concealed himself.16.
ਕੰਠਹਿਕਪੋਤਿਲਖਿਕੋਪਕੀਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਗਰਦਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਬੂਤਰ ਨੇ ਰੋਸ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਨਾਸਾਨਿਹਾਰਿਬਨਿਕੀਰਲੀਨ॥
ਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤੋਤੇ ਨੇ ਬਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਫੜਿਆ।
Seeing her neck, the female pigeon got enraged and the parrot seeing her nostril hid himself in the forest
ਰੋਮਾਵਲਿਹੇਰਿਜਮੁਨਾਰਿਸਾਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਰੋਮਾਵਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਜਮਨਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ
ਲਜਾਮਰੰਤਸਾਗਰਡੁਬਾਨ॥੧੭॥
ਲਾਜ ਦੀ ਮਾਰੀ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬ ਮਰੀ ॥੧੭॥
Seeing her hair, even Yamuna was filled with anger and seeing her serenity, the ocean felt shy.17.
ਬਾਹੂਬਿਲੋਕਿਲਾਜੈਮ੍ਰਿਨਾਲ॥
ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਮਲ ਡੰਡੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਰਮਸਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਖਿਸਿਯਾਨਹੰਸਅਵਿਲੋਕਿਚਾਲ॥
ਚਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੰਸ ਖਿਝਦਾ ਹੈ।
Seeing her arms, the lotus-stalk felt she and the swans, seeing her gait got angry
ਜੰਘਾਬਿਲੋਕਿਕਦਲੀਲਜਾਨ॥
ਜੰਘਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕੇਲਾ ਸ਼ਰਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਿਸਰਾਟਆਪਘਟਿਰੂਪਮਾਨ॥੧੮॥
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ('ਨਿਸਰਾਟ') ਆਪਣੇ ਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ (ਅਨਸੂਆ) ਤੋਂ ਘਟ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
Seeing her legs, the Kadli trees became shyful and the moon considered his beauty inferior to her.18.
ਇਹਭਾਤਿਤਾਸੁਬਰਣੋਸਿੰਗਾਰ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕੋਸਕੈਕਬਿਮਹਿਮਾਉਚਾਰ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੀ) ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਕਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
In this way, the charm of her beauty is described, and no poet can utter her greatness
ਐਸੀਸਰੂਪਅਵਿਲੋਕਅਤ੍ਰਿ॥
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਤ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਨੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ
ਜਨੁਲੀਨਰੂਪਕੋਛੀਨਛਤ੍ਰ॥੧੯॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੇ) ਰੂਪ ਦੀ ਮਾਨੋ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਹੀ ਖੋਹ ਲਈ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੯॥
Seeing such a beauteous lady, the sage Atri believed that he had obtained canopied kingdom of beauty.19.
ਕੀਨੀਪ੍ਰਤਗਿਤਿਹਸਮੇਨਾਰਿ॥
ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਗਿਆ ਕਰ ਲਈ
ਬ੍ਰਯਾਹੈਨਭੋਗਭੋਗੈਭਤਾਰ॥
ਕਿ ਜੋ ਪਤੀ ਵਿਆਹ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ
ਮੈਬਰੌਤਾਸੁਰੁਚਿਮਾਨਿਚਿਤ॥
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਰੁਚੀ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ
ਜੋਸਹੈਕਸਟਐਸੇਪਵਿਤ॥੨੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਸਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੨੦॥
That lady had vowed that she would not marry her husband for sexual enjoyment, and would wed that person, who would have the strength to endure the sacred tribulations of austrerities.20.
ਰਿਖਿਮਾਨਿਬੈਨਤਬਬਰ੍ਰਯੋਵਾਹਿ॥
ਰਿਸ਼ੀ (ਅਤ੍ਰੀ) ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
ਜਨੁਲੀਨਲੂਟਸੀਗਾਰਤਾਹਿ॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਲੁਟ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
The sage (Arti) had agreed with her vow and married her and sacrificed himself on her charm of beauty
ਲੈਗਯੋਧਾਮਿਕਰਿਨਾਰਿਤਉਨ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ,
ਪਿਤਦਤਦੇਵਮੁਨਿਅਤ੍ਰਿਜਉਨ॥੨੧॥
ਜੋ ਦੱਤ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਅਤ੍ਰੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਸੀ ॥੨੧॥
He, the sage Atri, who was the father of Dattatreya, making her his wife, brought her home.21.

ਹੁਣ ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਦੱਤ ਦਾ ਕਥਨ

ਵਿਆਹ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਲ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਗਏ,
ਇਕਭਯੋਆਨਿਅਉਰੈਉਛਾਹਿ॥
(ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ) ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਉਤਸਾਹ ਵਰਧਕ (ਇਕੱਠ) ਹੋਇਆ।
ਤਿਹਗਏਧਾਮਿਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਦਿਆਦਿ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਦਿ ਦੇਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਆਦਿ ਗਏ।
ਕਿਨੀਸੁਸੇਵਤ੍ਰੀਯਬਹੁਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ॥੨੨॥
ਇਸਤਰੀ 'ਅਨਸੂਆ' ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਰੁਚੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ॥੨੨॥
Several years passed after marriage and once an opportunity arose when Brahma and other gods went to the home of that sage the women of the hermitage of the sage performed great service to them.22.
ਬਹੁਧੂਪਦੀਪਅਰੁਅਰਘਦਾਨ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਧੂਪ-ਦੀਪ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਘ ਦਾਨ,
ਪਾਦਰਘਿਆਦਿਕਿਨੇਸੁਜਾਨ॥
ਪਾਦ ਅਰਘ ਆਦਿ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ (ਨੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ)।
The incense was burnt, the lamps were lighted, there were libations and salutations
ਅਵਿਲੋਕਿਭਗਤਿਤਿਹਚਤੁਰਬਾਕ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ
ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਬਿਸਨੁਬੈਠੇਪਿਨਾਕ॥੨੩॥
ਸ਼ਿਵ ('ਪਿਨਾਕ') ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਏ (ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਏ) ॥੨੩॥
Seeing Indra, Vishnu and Shiva, all the devotees eulogized them.23.
ਅਵਿਲੋਕਿਭਗਤਿਭਏਰਿਖਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਭਗਤੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਵੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ
ਜੋਤਿਹੂਮਧਿਲੋਕਾਨਿਧਨਿ॥
ਜੋ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਧੰਨ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Seeing the devotion of the sage, all were pleased and all blessed him
ਕਿਨੋਸੁਐਸਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਉਚਾਰ॥
(ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ,
ਤੈਪੁਤ੍ਰਵੰਤਹੂਜੋਕੁਮਾਰਿ॥੨੪॥
ਹੇ ਕੁਮਾਰੀ! ਤੂੰ ਪੁੱਤਰਵੰਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਂ ॥੨੪॥
Then Brahma said, “O Kumar! You will be blessed with a son.”24.
