ਜਿਪ੍ਰਭੁਸਾਲਾਹੇਆਪਣਾਸੋਸੋਭਾਪਾਏ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੋਭਾ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।
One who praises his God, receives honor.
जि प्रभु सालाहे आपणा सो सोभा पाए ॥
ਹਉਮੈਵਿਚਹੁਦੂਰਿਕਰਿਸਚੁਮੰਨਿਵਸਾਏ॥
ਮਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ 'ਹਉਮੈ' ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
He drives out egotism from within himself, and enshrines the True Name within his mind.
हउमै विचहु दूरि करि सचु मंनि वसाए ॥
ਸਚੁਬਾਣੀਗੁਣਉਚਰੈਸਚਾਸੁਖੁਪਾਏ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਅਸਲ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
Through the True Word of the Guru's Bani, he chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and finds true peace.
सचु बाणी गुण उचरै सचा सुखु पाए ॥
ਮੇਲੁਭਇਆਚਿਰੀਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆਗੁਰਪੁਰਖਿਮਿਲਾਏ॥
ਚਿਰ ਤੋਂ (ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਦਾ (ਮੁੜ ਰੱਬ ਨਾਲ) ਮੇਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਰਦ ਨੇ (ਜੂ) ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
He is united with the Lord, after being separated for so long; the Guru, the Primal Being, unites him with the Lord.
मेलु भइआ चिरी विछुंनिआ गुर पुरखि मिलाए ॥
ਮਨੁਮੈਲਾਇਵਸੁਧੁਹੈਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਏ॥੧੭॥
ਸੋ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਲਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੭॥
In this way, his filthy mind is cleansed and purified, and he meditates on the Name of the Lord. ||17||
मनु मैला इव सुधु है हरि नामु धिआए ॥१७॥
