ਸਚੁਧਿਆਇਨਿਸੇਸਚੇਗੁਰਸਬਦਿਵੀਚਾਰੀ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Those who meditate on the True Lord are true; they contemplate the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
सचु धिआइनि से सचे गुर सबदि वीचारी ॥
ਹਉਮੈਮਾਰਿਮਨੁਨਿਰਮਲਾਹਰਿਨਾਮੁਉਰਿਧਾਰੀ॥
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
They subdue their ego, purify their minds, and enshrine the Lord's Name within their hearts.
हउमै मारि मनु निरमला हरि नामु उरि धारी ॥
ਕੋਠੇਮੰਡਪਮਾੜੀਆਲਗਿਪਏਗਾਵਾਰੀ॥
ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਘਰਾਂ ਮਹਲ ਮਾੜੀਆਂ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The fools are attached to their homes, mansions and balconies.
कोठे मंडप माड़ीआ लगि पए गावारी ॥
ਜਿਨਿੑਕੀਏਤਿਸਹਿਨਜਾਣਨੀਮਨਮੁਖਿਗੁਬਾਰੀ॥
ਮਨਮੁਖ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣਦੇ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
The self-willed manmukhs are caught in darkness; they do not know the One who created them.
जिनि कीए तिसहि न जाणनी मनमुखि गुबारी ॥
ਜਿਸੁਬੁਝਾਇਹਿਸੋਬੁਝਸੀਸਚਿਆਕਿਆਜੰਤਵਿਚਾਰੀ॥੮॥
ਹੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਵ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਕੀਹ ਹਨ? ਤੂੰ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
He alone understands, whom the True Lord causes to understand; what can the helpless creatures do? ||8||
जिसु बुझाइहि सो बुझसी सचिआ किआ जंत विचारी ॥८॥
