(ਕਾਮਨਾਂ=ਦਲੀਲਾਂ। ਜੋਹੈ=ਤੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਧੋਹਣ=ਧ੍ਰੋਹਣਹਾਰ, ਠੱਗ। ਛੋਹੇ=ਕ੍ਰੋਧ। ਪੋਹੈ=ਚੰਬੜਨਾ।)
ਕਾਮਲਖਕਰਿਕਾਮਨਾਬਹੁਰੂਪੀਸੋਹੈ।
ਲਖਾਂ ('ਕਾਮਨਾ') ਦਲੀਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਲੇ (ਅਪੱਰਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ) ਰੂਪ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਾਮ ਦਿਖਾਲੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Passionate urges in the form of lacs of desires may appear in many forms.
ਲਖਕਰੋਪਕਰੋਧਕਰਿਦੁਸਮਨਹੋਇਜੋਹੈ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ 'ਕਰੋਪ' ਕਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੋਕੇ ਤੱਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
Lacs of enemies may stare in anger; temptations in lacs and lacs of mammons may inveigle and deceive;
ਲਖਲੋਭਲਖਲਖਮੀਹੋਇਧੋਹਣਧੋਹੈ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੋਭ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੱਖਮੀਆਂ ਹੋਕੇ ਧ੍ਰੋਹ ਨਾਲ ਠੱਗ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Maya and infatuation pretending to be virtuous may in crores of ways adorne(the world);
ਮਾਇਆਮੋਹਿਕਰੋੜਮਿਲਿਹੁਇਬਹੁਗੁਣੁਸੋਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਬਹੁਗੁਣੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਸੋਭ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
And ego, full of pride for having killed lacs of demons, may touch a gursikh;
ਅਸੁਰਸੰਘਾਰਿਹੰਕਾਰਲਖਹਉਮੈਕਰਿਛੋਹੈ।
ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਘਾਰ ਦਾ (ਕਾਰਣ) ਹੰਕਾਰ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੰਤਾ ਮਮਤਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ('ਛੋਹੈਂ') ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਦਾਉ ਤਾੜਦਾ ਹੈ)।
But to the Sikh of the Guru, who listens to the teachings of the Guru in the holy congregation,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਸੁਣਿਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਨਪੋਹੈ।੧।
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ (ਵਿਖੇ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਜੋ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿੱਖਯਾ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਲੇ ਕਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਕੋਈ) ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ।
They all cannot affect the least.

ਲੱਖਾਂ ਇਸਤੀਆਂ (ਜਾਦੂ ਵਾਂਙੁ ਮੋਹਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ) ਲਖਾਂ ਕਾਮਰੂਪ (ਨਾਮੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ) ਅਰ ਲਖਾਂ ਟੁਣੈ ਕਰਣ ਹਾਰੀਆਂ।

ਲਖਦੁਰਯੋਧਨਕੰਸਲਖਲਖਦੈਤਲੜੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕੰਸ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਹੋਰ ਦੈਤ ਲੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ।
Lacs of Duryodhan, Kans and lacs of demons may be there who keep fighting;
ਲਖਰਾਵਣਕੁੰਭਕਰਣਲਖਲਖਰਾਕਸਮੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰਾਵਣ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕੁੰਭਕਰਣ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਰਾਖਸ਼ ਮੰਦ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ।
Lacs of Ravans, Kumbhakarans and other evil demons there may be;
ਪਰਸਰਾਮਲਖਸਹੰਸਬਾਹੁਕਰਿਖੁਦੀਖਹੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਪਰਸਰਾਮ ਤੇ ਸਹੰਸ੍ਰ ਬਾਹੂ (ਜਿਹੇ ਰਾਜੇ) ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਖਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ।
Lacs of Padu Rams and Sahsrbahus may be wrangling in ego with one another;
ਹਰਨਾਕਸਬਹੁਹਰਣਾਕਸਾਨਰਸਿੰਘਬੁਕੰਦੇ।
ਹਿਰਣਕਸਯਪ, ਹਰਣਾਖਸ਼ ਅਰ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਗੱਜਣ ਵਾਲੇ।
Many may be there like Hiranyakasipu and the roaring man-lion Narsinghs;
ਲਖਕਰੋਧਵਿਰੋਧਲਖਲਖਵੈਰੁਕਰੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਰੋਧ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਰੋਧ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਵੈਰ ਕਰਣ ਹਾਰੇ,
Lacs of angry people with lacs of antagonisms and lacs of enmities may be there.
ਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਪੋਹਿਨਸਕਈਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਮਿਲੰਦੇ।੩।
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਉਪਰ ਕੋਈ ਬਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ।
They all cannot put any harm to the Sikhs of the Guru who gather in the holy congregation.

ਸੋਇਨਾਰੁਪਾਲਖਮਣਾਲਖਭਰੇਭੰਡਾਰਾ।
ਸੋਨੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਮਣਾਂ ਮੂੰਹੀ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ਭਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ।
Lacs of mounds of gold and rupees and lacs of filled up store houses;
ਮੋਤੀਮਾਣਿਕਹੀਰਿਆਂਬਹੁਮੋਲਅਪਾਰਾ।
ਮੋਤੀ ਮਾਣਕ, ਹੀਰੇ ਬਾਹਲੇ ਅਪਾਰ ਮੁੱਲ ਵਾਲੇ।
Invaluable pearls, rubies and diamonds;
ਦੇਸਵੇਸਲਖਰਾਜਭਾਗਪਰਗਣੇਹਜਾਰਾ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਦੇਸ਼, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਮੋਹਣੇ ਭੇਖ, ਰਾਜ ਭਾਗ ਅਰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਇਲਾਕੇ।
Lacs of kingdoms, countries and thousands of paraganas (districts);
ਰਿਧੀਸਿਧੀਜੋਗਭੋਗਅਭਰਣਸੀਗਾਰਾ।
ਰਿੱਧੀਆਂ (ਕਈ) ਸਿੱਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੋਗ (ਮਿਲਾਪ) ਤੇ ਭੋਗ ਕਈ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ।
Riddhis, siddhis (miraculous powers), renunciations, enjoyments, ornaments. embellishments;
ਕਾਮਧੇਨੁਲਖਪਾਰਿਜਾਤਿਚਿੰਤਾਮਣਿਪਾਰਾ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਾਮਧੇਨ (ਗਊਆਂ), ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਲਪ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਅਰ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਣੀ ਦੇ ਟੁਕੜੇ।
Kantdhenus, the wishfulfilling cows, lacs of wishfulfilling trees (parijats) and fabulous gems;
ਚਾਰਪਦਾਰਥਸਗਲਫਲਲਖਲੋਭਲੁਭਾਰਾ।
ਚਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਧਰਮਾਦਿ), ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਲੋਭਾਂ ਦੇ (“ਉਭਾਰ”) ਉਦੇ ਹੋਣ।
All the four ideals of life (dhrma, arth, Kam and moks);
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਪੋਹਨਹੰਘਨੀਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਉਧਾਰਾ।੪।
ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ। (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਉਧਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
And lacs of attractive fruits and other temptations cannot even touch that Sikh of the Guru who has got liberated in the holy congregation.

ਪਿਉਪੁਤੁਮਾਵੜਧੀਅੜੀਹੋਇਭੈਣਭਿਰਾਵਾ।
ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਪਿਉ ਦਾ, ਮਾਂ ਧੀ ਦਾ, ਭੈਣ ਭਿਰਾਉ ਦਾ।
Father, son, mother, daughter, sister, brother are there.
ਨਾਰਿਭਤਾਰੁਪਿਆਰਲਖਮਨਮੇਲਿਮਿਲਾਵਾ।
ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਅਰ ਭਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਪਯਾਰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪੋ ਵਿੱਚੀ ਦਿਲੀ ਮੇਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Husband and wife love each other profusely with their hearts.
ਸੁੰਦਰਮੰਦਰਚਿਤ੍ਰਸਾਲਬਾਗਫੁਲਸੁਹਾਵਾ।
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮੰਦਰ, ਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਾਲ, ਬਾਗ ਅਰ ਸ਼ੋਭਾਨੀਕ ਫੁਲ।
Pleasure-giving beautiful palaces, art galleries, gardens and flowers are all delightful.
ਰਾਗਰੰਗਰਸਰੂਪਲਖਬਹੁਭੋਗਭੁਲਾਵਾ।
ਰਾਗ, ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਰੂਪ ਲਖਾਂ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੁਲਾਏ ਬਾਹਲੇ।
Lacs of sounds, colours, flowers and forms delude people in enjoyments.
ਲਖਮਾਇਆਲਖਮੋਹਿਮਿਲਿਹੋਇਮੁਦਈਦਾਵਾ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਮਾਇਆ, ਲਖਾਂ ਮੋਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਾਵੇਗੀਰ ਹੋਕੇ ਦਾਵੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਣੇ।
Getting engrossed in millions types of infatuations people have manyfold claims (over each other).
ਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਪੋਹਿਨਹੰਘਨੀਸਾਧਸੰਗੁਸੁਹਾਵਾ।੫।
ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪੁਰ ਬਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਓਹ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੀ ਸ਼ੋਭਾਨੀਕ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
To the Sikhs of the Guru, adorning the holy congregation, even all these cannot affect in any way.
ਪਉੜੀ੬
ਵਰਨਾਵਰਨਨਭਾਵਨੀਕਰਿਖੁਦੀਖਹੰਦੇ।
ਇਕ ਵਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਜਾ ਵਰਨ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦਾ (ਇਸ ਲਈ) ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪੋ ਵਿਚ ਖਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
All the vamas (castes) do not love one another and quarrel among themselves in ego;
ਜੰਗਲਅੰਦਰਿਸੀਂਹਦੁਇਬਲਵੰਤਿਬੁਕੰਦੇ।
(ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ) ਬਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਦੋ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਬਲ ਵਾਲੇ ਜਿੱਕੁਰ ਭਬਕਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
If there are two lions in a jungle they roar mightily at each other.
ਹਾਥੀਹਥਿਆਈਕਰਨਿਮਤਵਾਲੇਹੁਇਅੜੀਅੜੰਦੇ।
ਹਾਥੀ ਮਸਤੀ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਅੜੀਅਲ ਹੋ ਅੜ ਖਲੋਂਦੇ (ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਪੈਂਦੇ) ਹਨ।
They all are like those intoxicated elephants which stubbornly fight each other.
ਰਾਜਭੂਪਰਾਜੇਵਡੇਮਲਦੇਸਲੜੰਦੇ।
ਛੋਟੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਅਰ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਲ ਕੇ (ਆਪੋ ਵਿਚੀ ਜੁੱਧ ਅਤੇ) ਘਮਸਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The mighty kings capture large territories and fight with each other.
ਮੁਲਕਅੰਦਰਿਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਦੁਇਜਾਇਜੰਗਜੁੜੰਦੇ।
(ਇਕ) ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਖੇ ਦੋ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ (ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ, ਦੋਵੇਂ) ਜੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਦਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Two emperors in a country will go at war with each another.
ਹਉਮੈਕਰਿਹੰਕਾਰਲਖਮਲਮਲਘੁਲੰਦੇ।
ਹਉਮੈਂ ਅਰ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਮੱਲ ਭਲਵਾਨ (ਜਿਦਬਜਿਦੀ ਘੁਲਕੇ) ਕੁਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Guided and controlled by ego lacs of wrestlers wrestle with one another.
ਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਪੋਹਿਨਸਕਨੀਸਾਧੁਸੰਗਿਵਸੰਦੇ।੬।
(ਇਹ ਦੋਸ਼) ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਹ ਸਕਦੇ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਓਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
But ego cannot touch the Sikhs of the Guru residing in the holy congregation.

ਗੋਰਖਜਤੀਸਦਾਇਂਦਾਤਿਸੁਗੁਰੁਘਰਿਬਾਰੀ।
ਗੋਰਖਨਾਥ ਜਤੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਛਿੰਦਰ ਨਾਥ) ਕਾਮੀ ਸੀ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਕ ਮ੍ਰਿਤਕ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭੋਗ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ)।

ਸ਼ੁੱਕਰ ਕਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਖੋਟੇ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ ਉਹ ਬੀ ਦਾਗ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Sukrachary too was stigmatised for his evil mantra.

ਲਛਮਨ ਨੇ (ਬਾਰਾਂ ਵਰਹੇ) ਭੁਖ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਸਾਧ ਲੀਤੀ ਸੀ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਰਾਮ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਫਲਾਹਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਹਉਮੈਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ।

(ਏਹ ਸਾਰੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਖ ਦੇ ਰੋਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਇਸੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਹਨ)।

Actions such as recitations, austerities, continence, devotion, perseverence, control over senses, etc. are performed.

ਚੱਕਰਵਰਤੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਉਦਯ ਅਸਤ ਤੀਕ ਰਾਜ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਲੇ (ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਵਾਲੇ) ਹੋਏ।
Many such kings are there whose kingdom extends from the point of sunrise to the point of sunset.
ਅਰਬਖਰਬਲੈਦਰਬਨਿਧਿਰਸਭੋਗਿਚੰਗੇਰੇ।
ਅਰਬ ਖਰਬਾਦਿ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਿਧਾਂ (ਘਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਅਰ) ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਚੰਗਿਆਂ ਥੋਂ ਚੰਗੇ (ਤਿਆਰ ਸਨ)।
They have wealth worth billions and choice luxuries to enjoy.
ਨਰਪਤਿਸੁਰਪਤਿਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿਹਉਮੈਵਿਚਿਘੇਰੇ।
ਨਰਪਤ ਲੋਕ, ਛਤ੍ਰ ਪਤੀ, ('ਸੁਰਪਤਿ') ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕ ਹਉਮੈਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਘੇਰੇ ਰਹੇ।
All these kings of mortals and gods are engrossed in their ego.
ਸਿਵਲੋਕਹੁਂਚੜ੍ਹਿਬ੍ਰਹਮਲੋਕਬੈਕੁੰਠਵਸੇਰੇ।
ਸ਼ਿਵ ਲੋਕ ਥੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਲੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹਕੇ ਕਈ ਰਾਜੇ ਬੇਕੁੰਠ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀ ਹੋਏ।
Rising from the abode of Siva they attain the abode of Brahma and Vaikunth, the heavens;
ਚਿਰਜੀਵਣੁਬਹੁਹੰਢਣਾਹੋਹਿਵਡੇਵਡੇਰੇ।
ਕਈ ਚਿਰਜੀਵੀ ਬਾਹਲੀਆਂ ਉਮਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਵੱਡਿਆਂ ਥੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਹੋਏ।

('ਸੁਖ ਫਲ') ਸਰੂਪਾ ਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ ਓਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਉਪਰ ਕਹੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਰੇ) ਭਲਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭਲੇਰੇ (ਉੱਤਮ) ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਤਾਂਤਮਾਂ ਹੋਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਦੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਿਜ ਸਰੂਪ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਿੱਲਦੇ)।
But the pleasure fruit of gurmukhs is unapproachable and better than the best one.

ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦਾਂ ਦੇ 'ਸੰਬਾਦ' (ਝਗੜੇ) ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਇਕ ਰਸ (ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ (ਵਿਦਮਾਨ) ਹੋਣ।
Likewise millions of vibrations, dialogues and their constant music is there.
ਗੰਧਸੁਗੰਧਿਮਿਲਾਪਲਖਅਰਗਜੇਅਦੰਗੀ।
ਗੰਧੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸੁਗੰਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੇਲਅਰ ਅਰਗਜੇ (ਬਾਹਲੀਆਂ ਸੁਗੰਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰਭੂਤ ਤੇਲ) ਸੁੱਧ।

ਛਤੀਹਭੋਜਨਪਾਕਸਾਲਰਸਭੋਗਸੁਢੰਗੀ।
ਰਸੋਈ ਵਿਖੇ ਛਤੀਹ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਹੋਰ ਰਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਗ ਚੰਗੇ ਢੰਗ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ।

ਪੱਟ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ (ਪਹਿਰਣ ਨੂੰ। ਗਹਿਣੇ (ਸਰਬੰਗਾਂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਦੇ (ਪੂਰਣ ਲਈ, ਕੜੇ ਬੁਹੱਟੇ, ਵਾਲੇ ਆਦ) ਸ਼ੋਭਦੇ ਹੋਣ।

(ਪਰੰਤੂ ਉਕਤ ਸੁਖ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦੇ (ਅਨੰਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਗੰਮਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ (ਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂ ਦਾ (ਅਨੰਦ ਅਨੰਤ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ, (ਹੋਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਸ਼ਮਾਨ ਹਨ ਅਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ।) .
But association with the gurmukhs is a pleasure fruit which is unapproachable.

ਲਖਮਤਿਬੁਧਿਸੁਧਿਉਕਤਿਲਖਲਖਚਤੁਰਾਈ।
ਲਖਾਂ ਮਤ ਅਤੇ ਲਖਾਂ ਬੁੱਧੀਆਂ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਵਿਹਾਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਰਥਿਕ) ਹਨ (ਸੁਧ) ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰਤਾ (ਯਾ ਹੋਸ਼) ਉਕਤ (ਵਚਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ) ਅਰ ਹੇਠ ਲਖਾਂ ਚਾਤੁਰਤਾਈਆਂ ਹੋਣ।
Plenty of practical arts, spiritual wisdom, wise sayings and skills are extent (upto day).

ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸ਼੍ਰਤੀਆਂ (ਪੜ੍ਹੇ), ਲਖਾਂ 'ਘੜਾਈ' ਦੀ ('ਸੁਰਤ') ਗਿਆਤ ਹੋਵੇ (ਭਾਵ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਚੰਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ)
Plenty of cleverness, consciousness and knowledge of skills are available.
ਗਿਆਨਧਿਆਨਸਿਮਰਣਿਸਹੰਸਲਖਪਤਿਵਡਿਆਈ।
ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਹੋਣ, ਲਖਾਂ ਪਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਡਿਆਈਆਂ ਹੋਣ, (ਪਰੰਤੂ) ਸਾਰੇ ਉਕਤ ਸੁਖ ਤੁੱਛ ਹਨ, ਅੱਗੇ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Similarly knowledges, meditations, remembrances and eulogies are there in thousands.
ਹਉਮੈਅੰਦਰਿਵਰਤਣਾਦਰਿਥਾਇਨਪਾਈ।
ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਮਤਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਕਬੂਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ।
Having all this and behaving in arrogant manner, one does not get place at the door of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲਅਗਮਹੈਸਤਿਗੁਰਸਰਣਾਈ।੧੫।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅਗੰਮ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਓਹ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ) ਸ਼ਰਣੀ ਪਏ ਹਨ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਪ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਰੱਖਯਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਹਉਂ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।)
The pleasure fruit of gurmukh's coming in the shelter of Guru is unapproachable.

ਸਤਿਸੰਤੋਖਦਇਆਧਰਮੁਲਖਅਰਥਮਿਲਾਹੀ।
ਸਤ, ਸੰਤੋਖ, ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ, ਲਖਾਂ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਹੋਣਾ।
If truth, contentment, compassion, dharma and wealth worth lacs are combined;
ਧਰਤਿਅਗਾਸਪਾਣੀਪਵਣਲਖਤੇਜਤਪਾਹੀ।
ਲਖਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਲਖਾਂ ਅਕਾਸ਼, ਲਖਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ, ਲਖਾਂ ਪਉਣਾਂ, ਲਖਾਂ ਅੱਗਾਂ ਤਪਣੀਆਂ (ਭਾਵ ਅਪ, ਤੇਜ ਵਾਇ, ਪ੍ਰਿਥਮੀ, ਅਕਾਸ਼, ਭਾਵ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਤੱਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਤ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨੀ)।
If earth, sky, water, air and immensely bright heat are there;
ਖਿਮਾਂਧੀਰਜਲਖਲਖਮਿਲਿਸੋਭਾਸਰਮਾਹੀ।
ਖਿਮਾਂ ਧੀਰਜ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ (ਯਥਾ ਲਾਭ ਸੰਤੁਸਟ ਹੋਣਾ)
If the combination of forgiveness, patience and myriad modesties put grandeur to shame;
ਸਾਂਤਿਸਹਜਸੁਖਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤਾਭਾਉਭਗਤਿਕਰਾਹੀ।
ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤ (ਪੁੰਨ ਕਰਣੇ), ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਣੀ।
If peace, equipoise, good actions motivate for the loving devotion;
ਸਗਲਪਦਾਰਥਸਗਲਫਲਆਨੰਦਵਧਾਹੀ।
ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ, ਸਾਰੇ ਫਲ, ਅਨੰਦ ਵਧੀਕ ਹੋਣੇ।
And if they all join to increase the delight further, even then they cannot approach
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲਪਿਰਮਿਰਸੁਇਕੁਤਿਲੁਨਪੁਜਾਹੀ।੧੬।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਤਿਲ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ (ਉਕਤ ਸੁਖ) ਨਹੀਂ ਪੁਜ ਸਕਦੇ।

ਲਖਲਖਜੋਗਧਿਆਨਮਿਲਿਧਰਿਧਿਆਨੁਬਹੰਦੇ।
ਲਖਾਂ ਜੋਗੀ ਲੋਕ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਲਾਕੇ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ।
If lacs of yogis sit in meditation jointly;
ਲਖਲਖਸੁੰਨਸਮਾਧਿਸਾਧਿਨਿਜਆਸਣਸੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ' ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧੀ' (ਅਫੁਰ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਵਾਲੇ) ਲਖਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਸਣਾਂ (ਕਰਮਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧਦੇ ਹਨ।
If lacs of sadhus in meditation of postures go into tranquil trances;
ਲਖਸੇਖਸਿਮਰਣਿਕਰਹਿਂਗੁਣਗਿਆਨਗਣੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਸ਼ੇਖਨਾਗ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਗੁਣੀ ਲੋਕ ਗਿਆਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਗਿਆਨ ਗੋਦੜੀਆਂ ਲਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)
If lacs of Sesanags keep remembering and eulogizing the Lord;
ਮਹਿਮਾਂਲਖਮਹਾਤਮਾਂਜੈਕਾਰਕਰੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਮਹਾਤਮਾਂ (ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਲੋਕ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਲਖਾਂ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ਤੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ
If lacs of great souls cheerfully applaud Him;
ਉਸਤਤਿਉਪਮਾਲਖਲਖਲਖਭਗਤਿਜਪੰਦੇ।
ਲੱਖਾਂ ਉਸਤਤ, ਲੱਖਾਂ ਉਪਮਾਂ (ਕੀਰਤਨ ਆਦਿ) ਤੇ ਲਖਾਂ ਭਗਤ ਜਾਪ ਜਪਦੇ ਹਨ।
If lacs of devotees eulogize His glories and perform lacs of recitations of His name,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਪਿਰਮਰਸੁਇਕਪਲੁਨਲਹੰਦੇ।੧੭।
(ਪਰੰਤੂ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈ ਸਕਦੇ।
Even then they all cannot withstand the one moment of loving delight of a gurmukh.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੮
ਅਚਰਜਨੋਆਚਰਜੁਹੈਅਚਰਜੁਹੋਵੰਦਾ।
ਅਚਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਬੀ) ਅਚਰਜ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Even the most wonderful wonder becomes full of wonder in the presence of loving delight.
ਵਿਸਮਾਦੈਵਿਸਮਾਦੁਹੈਵਿਸਮਾਦੁਰਹੰਦਾ।
ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭਾਰੀ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੀ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Before love, awe also feels itself full of awe.
ਹੈਰਾਣੈਹੈਰਾਣੁਹੈਹੈਰਾਣੁਕਰੰਦਾ।
ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਣ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਜੋ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈਰਾਣ ਚੀਜ਼ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਬੀ) ਹੈਰਾਣ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਬੀ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਹੈਰਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ)।
Love makes even the surprise full of surprise.
ਅਬਿਗਤਹੁਂਅਬਿਗਤੁਹੈਨਹਿਂਅਲਖੁਲਖੰਦਾ।
ਅਬਿਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਹੈ, (ਅਪ੍ਰਾਪਯ ਵਸਤੂ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਬੀ ਅਲਖ ਨੂੰ ਲਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।
Unmanifest to unmanifestation, that unperceptible Lord cannot be perceived.
ਅਕਥਹੁਂਅਕਥਅਲੇਖੁਹੈਨੇਤਿਨੇਤਿਸੁਣੰਦਾ।
ਅਕੱਥ ਤੇ ਅਲਿਖ ਹੈ, (ਜੱਗਯਾਸੂ) ਨੇਤਿ (ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ) ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਹੋਰ ਬੀ ਹੈ)।
He is beyond all descriptions and is known as neti neti, this is not, this is not.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਪਿਰਮਰਸੁਵਾਹੁਵਾਹੁਚਵੰਦਾ।੧੮।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਨਿੱਤ) ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
The pleasure fruit of gurmukhs is delight of love which causes him to say wondrous, wonderful!
ਪਉੜੀ੧੯
ਇਕੁਕਵਾਉਪਸਾਉਕਰਿਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਪਸਾਰੇ।
ਇਕ ਵਾਕ ਤੋਂ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਪਸਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
The Lord spreading His one vibration, created all the universes.
ਕਰਿਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡਕਰੋੜਲਖਰੋਮਰੋਮਸੰਜਾਰੇ।
ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਰੋਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਲਖ ਲਖ (ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮੰਡ) ਮਿਲਾ ਰਖੇ ਹਨ।
Having created lacs and crores of universes He subsumes them in His each trichome.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮਪੂਰਣਬ੍ਰਹਮਗੁਰੁਰੂਪੁਮੁਰਾਰੇ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ' (ਨਿਰਗੁਣ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਸਗੁਣ ਮੂਰਤੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਰੂਪ (ਧਾਰਕੇ) ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਦਿਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ)।
That Murdri; killer of Mur demon, the transcendent Brahm is the perfect Guru Brahm.
ਗੁਰੁਚੇਲਾਚੇਲਾਗੁਰੂਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਵੀਚਾਰੇ।
ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਚੇਲੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ (ਅਥਵਾ) ਚੇਲਾ (ਅੰਗਦ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ) ਰੂਪ (ਏਕ ਜੋਤਿ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਪਦਵੀ ਚੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ? ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਬਚਨ ਮੰਨਣ ਥੋਂ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਨ ਛਡਕੇ ਟਹਿਲ ਕੀਤੀ)।
Under His influence the Guru becoming disciple and the disciple becoming Guru, they ponder upon the word of the Guru, i.e. the Guru and the disciple have subsumed in each other.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਚੁਖੰਡਹੈਵਾਸਾਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੇ।
(ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਰਸ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ? ਉੱਤਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੰਗਤ ਹੀ ਸਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ 'ਵਾਚਾ') ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ ਬਚਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Holy congregation is the abode of truth wherein resides the word of the formless One.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਪਿਰਮਰਸੁਦੇਹਉਮੈਮਾਰੇ।੧੯।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਹ ਦੇ ਹਉਮੈਂ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
Bestowing loving delight on the gurmukhs, this holy congregation wipes out their ego.
ਪਉੜੀ੨੦
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਨਾਨਕਦੇਉਹੈਪਰਮੇਸਰੁਸੋਈ।
ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ 'ਦੇਉ' (ਪਰਕਾਸ਼ ਰੂਪ) ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਓਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ (ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ) ਹੈ।
Guru Nanak is the true Guru and is God Himself.
ਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਦੁਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਤੇਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਸਮੋਈ।
ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ) ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਹੋਏ, ਜੋਤੀ (ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੋਤ (ਉਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਮੋਈ) ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
From the limb of this Guru was created Guru Angad and his flame merged in his (Guru Angad' s ) flame.
ਅਮਰਾਪਦੁਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਦਹੁਂਹੁਇਜਾਣੁਜਣੋਈ।
ਗੁਰੂ, ਅੰਗਦ ਤੋਂ ਅਮਰ ਪਦਵੀ ਵਾਲੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ) ਹੋਏ, ('ਜਾਣ') ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ('ਜਣੋਈ') ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੋਏ, (ਅਥਵਾ 'ਜਾਣੋ' ਮੰਨੋ ਕਿ 'ਜਾਣੋਈ' ਗਿਆਨ ਸਰੂਪ ਹਨ)।
From Guru Angad the omniscient Guru Amar Das emerged who was given the status of Guru.

ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਹੋਏ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਤ ਰਸ (ਨਾਮ) ਦੇ ਰਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਭਿੱਜੇ ਹੋਏ (ਅੱਠ ਪਹਿਰ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰੰਗ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ)।
From Amar Das came into being Guru Ram Das who was quaffer of the nectar.
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਹੁਂਅਰਜਨੁਗੁਰੂਗੁਰੁਸਬਦਸਥੋਈ।
ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਤੋਂ ਅਰਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ (ਸਥੋਈ) ਧਾਰਣ ਹਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ।
From Ram Das came Guru Arjan Dev, the companion of the Guru's word.
ਹਰਿਗੋਵਿੰਦਗੁਰੁਅਰਜਨਹੁਂਗੁਰੁਗੋਵਿੰਦੁਹੋਈ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਏ।
From Guru Arjan emerged Guru Hargobind, Guru and God in one.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲਪਿਰਮਰਸੁਸਤਿਸੰਗਅਲੋਈ।
(ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਨੇ (ਰਚੇ ਜਾਕੇ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪਦ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਰੂਪੀ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦੇਖਿਆ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ)।

(ਤਾਂਤੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ, (ਅਥਵਾ-ਇਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਝ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ)।
Nothing in this world is outside the Guru and God.
