(ਬਹਿਠਾ=ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਠਾ=ਇਸ਼ਟ, ਵਾਂਛਤ ਪਦਾਰਥ। ਅਭਿਰਿਠਾ=ਪ੍ਯਾਰੀ। ਸਰਿਠਾ=ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ। ਪਣਿਠਾ=ਦੂਰ ਹੋਣਾ।)
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਜਾਇਜਿਨਾਗੁਰਦਰਸਨੁਡਿਠਾ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਗੁਰ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who go to have the glimpse of the Guru.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਪੈਰੀਪੈਗੁਰਸਭਾਬਹਿਠਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਸਭਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who touching the feet sit in the assembly of the Guru.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਗੁਰਮਤਿਬੋਲਬੋਲਦੇਮਿਠਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖ੍ਯਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who speak sweet.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਪੁਤ੍ਰਮਿਤ੍ਰਗੁਰਭਾਈਇਠਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਇਸ਼ਟ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਸਮਝਦੇ) ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who prefer their fellow disciples to their sons and friends.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਗੁਰਸੇਵਾਜਾਣਨਿਅਭਿਰਿਠਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who love the service to the Guru.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਆਪਿਤਰੇਤਾਰੇਨਿਸਰਿਠਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਆਪ ਤਰੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਬੀ ਤਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who get across and make other creatures also swim across.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਮਿਲਿਆਪਾਪਪਣਿਠਾ।੧।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਪ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Meeting such Gursikhs, all the sins are removed.
ਪਉੜੀ੨
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਪਿਛਲਰਾਤੀਉਠਿਬਹੰਦੇ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਉਠ ਬੈਠਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who get up in the last quarter of night.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁਵੇਲੈਸਰਿਨਾਵੰਦੇ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੜਕੇ ਸਰ ਨ੍ਹਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who getting up in the ambrosial hours, and bathe in the holy tank.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਹੋਇਇਕਮਨਿਗੁਰਜਾਪੁਜਪੰਦੇ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਧ ਇੱਕ ਮਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who remember the Lord with single devotion.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਚਲਿਜਾਇਜੁੜੰਦੇ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs also who go to the holy congregation and sit there.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਗੁਰਬਾਣੀਨਿਤਿਗਾਇਸੁਣੰਦੇ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਿੱਤ (ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਯਾ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who sing and listen to Gurbani daily.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਮਨਿਮੇਲੀਕਰਿਮੇਲਿਮਿਲੰਦੇ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਨ ਮੇਲੀ (ਭਾਲਕੇ, ਉਸ) ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who meet others whole-heartedly.
ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਭਾਇਭਗਤਿਗੁਰਪੁਰਬਕਰੰਦੇ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾਭਗਤੀ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
I am sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who celebrate Guru’s anniversaries with full devotion.
ਗੁਰਸੇਵਾਫਲੁਸੁਫਲਫਲੰਦੇ।੨।
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੇ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਉਹ) ਫਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
Such Sikhs become blest by the service of the Guru and progress further successfully.
ਪਉੜੀ੩
ਹਉਤਿਸਵਿਟਹੁਵਾਰਿਆਹੋਦੈਤਾਣਿਜੁਹੋਇਨਿਤਾਣਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਬਲ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦਿਆ ਨਿਤਾਣਾ (ਨਿਰਬਲ) ਹੋ ਰਹੇ।
I am sacrifice unto him who being mighty considers himself powerless.
ਹਉਤਿਸਵਿਟਹੁਵਾਰਿਆਹੋਦੈਮਾਣਿਜੁਰਹੈਨਿਮਾਣਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਮਾਣ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ (ਗਰੀਬ) ਹੋ ਰਹੇ।
I am sacrifice unto him who being grand considers himself humble.
ਹਉਤਿਸਵਿਟਹੁਵਾਰਿਆਛੋਡਿਸਿਆਣਪਹੋਇਇਆਣਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਇਆਣਾ (ਭੋਲਾ ਭਾਲਾ) ਬਣ ਰਹੇ।
I am sacrifice unto him who repudiating all cleverness becomes childlike
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਵਿਟਹੁਵਾਰਿਆਖਸਮੈਦਾਭਾਵੈਜਿਸੁਭਾਣਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਖਸਮ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
I am sacrifice unto him who loves the will of the Master.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਵਿਟਹੁਵਾਰਿਆਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਮਾਰਗੁਦੇਖਿਲੁਭਾਣਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਪੁਰ ਲੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਵੱਡਾ ਸ਼ਰਧਾਲੂ ਹੈ)।
I am sacrifice unto him who becoming gurmukh wishes to follow the way of the Guru.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਵਿਟਹੁਵਾਰਿਆਚਲਣੁਜਾਣਿਜੁਗਤਿਮਿਹਮਾਣਾ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੇਹੜਾ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਥੋਂ) ਕੂਚ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਣ ਕੇ ਪਰਾਹੁਣਾ ਬਣ ਰਹੇ।
I am sacrifice unto him who considers himself a guest in this world and keeps himself ready to depart from here.
ਦੀਨਦੁਨੀਦਰਗਹਪਰਵਾਣਾ।੩।
(ਉਹ ਉਕਤ ਪੁਰਖ) ਦੀਨ, ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਕ ਹੈ।
Such a person is acceptable here and in the hereafter.
ਪਉੜੀ੪
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਘੋਲਿਘੁਮਾਇਆਗੁਰਮਤਿਰਿਦੈਗਰੀਬੀਆਵੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈਕੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੇ।
I love him deeply who cultivates humility through Gurmat, the wisdom of Guru.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਘੋਲਿਘੁਮਾਇਆਪਰਨਾਰੀਦੇਨੇੜਿਨਜਾਵੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਾ ਜਾਵੇ, (ਭਾਵ ਜਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ)।
I love him deeply who does not go near another’s wife.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਘੋਲਿਘੁਮਾਇਆਪਰਦਰਬੈਨੋਹਥੁਨਲਾਵੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਾਏ ਧਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਨਾ ਲਾਵੇ, (ਭਾਵ ਲੋਭ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ)।
I love him deeply who touches not the other’s wealth.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਘੋਲਿਘੁਮਾਇਆਪਰਨਿੰਦਾਸੁਣਿਆਪੁਹਟਾਵੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਾਈ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਸੁਣਨ ਥੋਂ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਆਪ ਹਟਾ ਲਵੇ।
I love him deeply who becoming indifferent to the backbiting of others detatches himself.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਘੋਲਿਘੁਮਾਇਆਸਤਿਗੁਰਦਾਉਪਦੇਸੁਕਮਾਵੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਵੇ (ਭਾਵ ਮੰਨਣ ਕਰੇ)।
I love him deeply who listening to the teaching of the true Guru practices it in actual life.
ਹਉਤਿਸੁਘੋਲਿਘੁਮਾਇਆਥੋੜਾਸਵੈਥੋੜਾਹੀਖਾਵੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਥੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਥੋੜਾ ਸਵੇਂ ਤੇ ਥੋੜਾ ਹੀ ਖਾਵੇ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਭਜਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਿਘਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
I love him deeply who sleeps little and eats little.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੋਈਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਵੈ।੪।
(ਓਹੀ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਜੋ ਉਕਤ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਸਹਜ ਪਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Such a gurmukh absorbs himself in the equipoise.
ਪਉੜੀ੫
ਹਉਤਿਸਦੈਚਉਖੰਨੀਐਗੁਰਪਰਮੇਸਰੁਏਕੋਜਾਣੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਈਸ਼ਵਰ ਇਕ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ।
I am ready to be cut into four pieces for him who accepts Guru and God as one.
ਹਉਤਿਸਦੈਚਉਖੰਨੀਐਦੂਜਾਭਾਉਨਅੰਦਰਿਆਣੈ।
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਵ ਅੰਦਰ ਨਹੀ ਰਖਦਾ।
I am ready to be cut into four pieces for him who does not allow the sense of duality to enter in him.
ਹਉਤਿਸਦੈਚਉਖੰਨੀਐਅਉਗੁਣੁਕੀਤੇਗੁਣਪਰਵਾਣੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਅਵਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
I am ready to be cut into four pieces for him who understands the evil done to him as good one.
ਹਉਤਿਸਦੈਚਉਖੰਨੀਐਮੰਦਾਕਿਸੈਨਆਖਿਵਖਾਣੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਦੇ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਚਾਰ ਟੁਕੜੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦਾ (ਕੌੜਾ) ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ।
I am ready to be cut into four pieces for him who never speaks ill of anyone.
ਹਉਤਿਸਦੈਚਉਖੰਨੀਐਆਪੁਠਗਾਏਲੋਕਾਭਾਣੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਠਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ ਲੋਕ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅਸਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਠੱਗ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਐਸਾ ਭੋਲਾ ਭਾਲਾ ਰਹੇ)।
I am ready to be cut into four pieces for him who is ready to suffer loss for the sake of others.
ਹਉਤਿਸਦੈਚਉਖੰਨੀਐਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਕਰੈਰੰਗਮਾਣੈ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਵਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ 'ਰੰਗ' (=ਅਨੰਦ) ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
I am ready to be cut into four pieces for him who enjoys doing altruistic activities.
ਲਉਬਾਲੀਦਰਗਾਹਵਿਚਿਮਾਣੁਨਿਮਾਣਾਮਾਣੁਨਿਮਾਣੈ।
(ਲਉਬਾਲੀ=) ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੀ) ਦਰਗਾਹ (ਕਚਿਹਰੀ) ਵਿਖੇ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਮਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ਅਰ ਮਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਿਮਾਣੇ (ਕਹੀਦੇ) ਹਨ, (ਜਿਹਾ “ਭੇਖਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੇ ਭੇਖਾਰੀ”)।
ਗੁਰਪੂਰਾਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਸਿਞਾਣੈ।੫।
Such a humble person understanding the Word of Guru, himself becomes the perfect Guru.
ਪਉੜੀ੬
ਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰਨ (ਹਨ, ਅਰ) ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸਿਾਣਦਾ (=ਮੰਨਦਾ) ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਬੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ। ਯਥਾ:-”ਜਿਨ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਤਿਸਹੀ ਜੇਹਾ॥”
ਹਉਸਦਕੇਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਸਤਿਗੁਰਨੋਮਿਲਿਆਪੁਗਵਾਇਆ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਾ ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
May I be a sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who, meeting the true Guru have lost their ego.
ਹਉਸਦਕੇਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਕਰਨਿਉਦਾਸੀਅੰਦਰਿਮਾਇਆ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਾਯਾ ਵਿਖ਼ੇ ਰਹਿਕੇ ਫੇਰ ਉਦਾਸ (ਜਲ ਕਮਲ ਵਾਂਙੂ ਅਲੇਪ) ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਚਿਤ ਲਾਈ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
May I be a sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who, in accordance with Gurmat concentrate their mind on the feet of the Guru.

ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿੱਖ੍ਯਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
May I be a sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who, imparting the teachings of the Guru make another disciple meet the Guru.
ਹਉਸਦਕੇਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਬਾਹਰਿਜਾਂਦਾਵਰਜਿਰਹਾਇਆ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ (ਮਨ) ਸੰਸਾਰਾਕਾਰ ਥੋਂ ਹਟਾਕੇ ਅੰਤਰਮੁਖੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
May I be a sacrifice unto those Gursikhs who, have resisted and bounded the outgoing mind.
ਹਉਸਦਕੇਤਿਨ੍ਹਾਂਗੁਰਸਿਖਾਂਆਸਾਵਿਚਿਨਿਰਾਸੁਵਲਾਇਆ।
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਆਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਬਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਭਾਵ ਹਰਖ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਥੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹਨ)।

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਦਾਉਪਦੇਸਦਿੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ।੬।
ਸਤਿਗੂਰ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਰ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਨਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ)।
Remain indifferent to them and learn steadfastly the teaching of the true Guru.
ਪਉੜੀ੭
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਵਡਾਅਖਾਇਦਾਨਾਭਿਕਵਲਦੀਨਾਲਿਸਮਾਣਾ।
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਆਪਨੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਓਹ ਨਾਭਿ ਕਮਲ ਦੀ ਡੰਡੀ ਵਿਖੇ (ਭਗਵਾਨ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਲੈਣ ਨੂੰ) ਚਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।
Calling himself great, Brahma entered into the naval lotus (Of Visnu to know its end).
ਆਵਾਗਵਣੁਅਨੇਕਜੁਗਓੜਕਵਿਚਿਹੋਆਹੈਰਾਣਾ।
ਅਨੇਕ ਜੁਗਾਂ ਤੋੜੀ ਆਵਾਗੌਣ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ (ਭਾਵ ਕਦੀ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕਦੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ) ਓੜਕ ਨੂੰ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਨਾਭ ਦੀ ਕਮਲ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਅੰਤ ਨਾ ਆਇਆ)।
For many ages he wandered in the cycle of transmigration and ultimately become dumbfounded.
ਓੜਕੁਕੀਤੁਸੁਆਪਣਾਆਪਗਣਾਇਐਭਰਮਿਭੁਲਾਣਾ।
(ਓੜਕ ਕੀਤੋਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ=) ਆਪਣੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਹ ਲਾ ਥੱਕਾ, ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਗਣਾਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੀ ਭੁੱਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਚਾਰੇਵੇਦਵਖਾਣਦਾਚਤੁਰਮੁਖੀਹੋਇਖਰਾਸਿਆਣਾ।
ਚਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਸਾਮ, ਰਿਗ, ਯੁਜਰ, ਅਥਰਵਣ) ਪੜ੍ਹੇ, ਮਾਨੋਂ ਏਹੋ ਉਸਦੇ ਚਾਰ ਮੁਖ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਸਿਆਣਾ (ਦਾਨਾਉ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ) ਸੀ।

ਲੋਕਾਂਨੋਸਮਝਾਇਦਾਵੇਖਿਸੁਰਸਤੀਰੂਪਲੋਭਾਣਾ।
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ (ਕਿ ਪਰ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਰ ਆਪ) ਸੁਰਸਤੀ (ਦਾ ਸੁੰਦਰ) ਰੂਪ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਲੋਭ ਗਿਆ।

ਚਾਰੇਵੇਦਗਵਾਇਕੈਗਰਬੁਗਰੂਰੀਕਰਿਪਛੁਤਾਣਾ।
ਚਾਰੇ ਵੇਦ ਏਵੇਂ ਗਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਹੰਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਗਰੂਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, (ਪਿਛੋਂ) ਪਛੁਤਾਵਾ ਕਰਣ ਲੱਗਾ।

ਅਕਥਕਥਾਨੇਤਨੇਤਵਖਾਣਾ।੭।
(ਗੱਲ ਕੀ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਦੀ) ਅਕੱਥ ਕਥਾ ਹੈ, ਵੇਦ ਬੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੇਤਿ ਨੇਤਿ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਲਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
In fact the Lord is ineffable; in Vedas also He is also described as neti neti, (not this, not this).

ਬਿਸਨਲਏਅਵਤਾਰਦਸਵੈਰਵਿਰੋਧਜੋਧਸੰਘਾਰੇ।
ਵਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਦਸ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਾਰਕੇ ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਅਤਿਰਥੀ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਜੋਧੇ ੧੦ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕੋ ਹੀ ਲੜੇ) ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।

ਮਛਕਛਵੈਰਾਹਰੂਪਿਹੋਇਨਰਸਿੰਘੁਬਾਵਨਬਉਧਾਰੇ।
ਮੱਛ, ਕੱਛ, ਸੂਕਰ, ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਵਨ ਬੋਧ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹੋਏ।
The incarnations in the forms of fish, tortoise, swine, man-lion, dwarf and Buddha etc. have happened.
ਪਰਸਰਾਮੁਰਾਮੁਕਿਸਨੁਹੋਇਕਿਲਕਿਕਲੰਕੀਅਤਿਅਹੰਕਾਰੇ।
ਪਰਸਰਾਮ, ਰਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਏ, ਕਲਕੀ (ਅਵਤਾਰ) ਵਡੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ (ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ)।
Parsu Ram, Ram, Kisan and very much proud incarnation of Kalki have flourished.
ਖਤ੍ਰੀਮਾਰਿਇਕੀਹਵਾਰਰਾਮਾਇਣਕਰਿਭਾਰਥਭਾਰੇ।
(ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਪਰਸਰਾਮ (ਨੇ) ਇੱਕੀ ਵਾਰ ਨਿਹਖੱਤ੍ਰਾਇਣ ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ, (ਫੇਰ ਰਾਮਾਵਤਾਰ ਨੇ) ਰਾਮਾਇਣ (ਵਿਚ ਕਥਨ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਵਡੇ ਭਾਰਥ (ਕਹੀਏ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਰਾਵਣ ਲਾਲ) ਕੀਤੇ।

ਕਾਮਕਰੋਧੁਨਸਾਧਿਓਲੋਭੁਮੋਹਅਹੰਕਾਰੁਨਮਾਰੇ।
(ਮੁਕਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਇਹ ਕਿ) ਕਾਮ ਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ (ਕਿਸੇ ਬੀ) ਨਾ ਸਾਧਿਆ ਤੇ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ (ਬੀ ਕਿਸੇ) ਨਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
But the lust and anger were not sublimited and greed, infatuation and ego were not eschewed.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਪੁਰਖੁਨਭੇਟਿਆਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਹਲੰਗਨਸਾਰੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਪੂਰਣ) ਪੁਰਖ (ਹਨ, ਨਾ) ਮਿਲੇ (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ (ਸਹਲੰਗ) ਮੇਲ ਤੋਂ ਨੱਸੇ ਰਹੇ। (ਭਾਵ-. 'ਕਿਸੈ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨਾ ਆਈਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ')।
None remembered the true Guru (God) and nobody benefited himself in the holy congregation.
ਹਉਮੈਅੰਦਰਿਕਾਰਿਵਿਕਾਰੇ।੮।
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਖੋਟੇ ਹੀ ਹਨ।
All acted arrogantly being full of evil propensities.
ਪਉੜੀ੯
ਮਹਾਦੇਉਅਉਧੂਤੁਹੋਇਤਾਮਸਅੰਦਰਿਜੋਗੁਨਜਾਣੈ।
ਮਹਾਂਦੇਉ ਜੋਗੀ ਹੋਕੇ ਤਮੋਗੁਣ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ (ਹੀ ਰਿਹਾ), ਜੋਗ ਦੀ ਕੁਝ ਖਬਰ ਨਾ ਜਾਤੀ, (ਭਾਵ ਚਿੱਤ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਰੋਕਣ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜੋਗ ਸੀ ਸੋ ਰੋਕ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ)।
Though Mahadev was an ascetic of high order but being full of ignorance he could not even identify yoga.
ਭੈਰੋਭੂਤਕੁਸੂਤਵਿਚਿਖੇਤ੍ਰਪਾਲਬੇਤਾਲਧਿਙਾਣੈ।
ਭੈਰਵ ਤੇ ਭੂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੈੜੇ ਕਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਤਰਪਾਲ ਨਾਮੇਂ ਬੈਤਾਲਾਂ ਪੁਰ (ਧਿਙਾਣਾ=) ਧੱਕੇ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਕੀਤਾ।
He merely subordinated Bhairav, ghosts, Ksetrapals, and baitals (all malignant spirits).
ਅਕੁਧਤੂਰਾਖਾਵਣਾਰਾਤੀਵਾਸਾਮੜ੍ਹੀਮਸਾਣੈ।
ਅੱਕ ਤੇ ਧਤੂਰਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਸੀ, ਮੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਮਸਾਣਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਰਾਤੀਂਵਾਸਾ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ।
He would eat akk ( a wild plant of sandy region – calotropis procera) and datura and lived in cemetery at night.
ਪੈਨੈਹਾਥੀਸੀਹਖਲਡਉਰੂਵਾਇਕਰੈਹੈਰਾਣੈ।
ਹਾਥੀ ਦੀ ਖੱਲੜੀ (ਦੇਹ ਉਤੇ) ਪਹਿਰਕੇ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੀ ਖੱਲੜੀ (ਲੱਕ) ਬੰਨ੍ਹਦਾ, (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਡੌਰੂ ਵਜਾਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
He would wear the lion or elephant skin and would make people restive by playing on damaru (tabor).
ਨਾਥਾਨਾਥੁਸਦਾਇਦਾਹੋਇਅਨਾਥੁਨਹਰਿਰੰਗੁਮਾਣੈ।
(ਆਪ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਥ ਸਦਾਇਆ, ਪਰ ਅਨਾਥ ਬਣਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਨਾ ਮਾਣਿਆ।
He was known as the nath (yogi) of the naths but never becoming masterless (anath) or humble did he remember God.
ਸਿਰਠਿਸੰਘਾਰੈਤਾਮਸੀਜੋਗੁਨਭੋਗੁਨਜੁਗਤਿਪਛਾਣੈ।
(ਪ੍ਰਲੈ ਕਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ) ਤਮੋਗੁਣ (ਵਿਖੇ ਆਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ) ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ (ਉਸਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਰਿਹਾ, ਜੋਗ ਭੋਗ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤ ਨ ਪਛਾਤੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਵਿਹਾਰ ਪਰਮਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਤੀ; ਸ਼ਾਂਤਿ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ)।
His main task was to destroy world malignantly. He would not understand the technique of enjoyment and repudiation (yoga).
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਸਾਧਸੰਗਾਣੈ।੯।
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਪਦ ਰੂਪੀ) (ਸੁਖ ਫਲ-) ਆਤਮ ਲਾਭ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
One attains the fruits of pleasure be becoming a gurmukh a gurmukh and being in the holy congregation.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੦
ਵਡੀਆਰਜਾਇੰਦ੍ਰਦੀਇੰਦ੍ਰਪੁਰੀਵਿਚਿਰਾਜੁਕਮਾਵੈ।
ਇੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਵਡੀ ਉਮਰਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸ੍ਵਰਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Indr has a long age; he ruled indrpuri.
ਚਉਦਹਇੰਦ੍ਰਵਿਣਾਸੁਕਾਲਿਬ੍ਰਹਮੇਦਾਇਕੁਦਿਵਸੁਵਿਹਾਵੈ।
ਜਦ ਚੌਦਾਂ ਇੰਦਰਾਂ ਦਾ (ਵਿਣਾਸ ਕਾਲ ਕਹੀਏ) ਨਾਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਦਿਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਚੌਦਹ ਇੰਦਰ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
When fourteen Indrs are finished, the one day of Brahma passes I.e. in one day of Brahma fourteen Indrs rule.
ਧੰਧੇਹੀਬ੍ਰਹਮਾਮਰੈਲੋਮਸਦਾਇਕੁਰੋਮਛਿਜਾਵੈ।
ਲੋਮਸ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਿਖੀ (ਦਾਹੜੀ ਦਾ) ਇਕ ਰੋਮ ਹੀ ਪੁੱਟ ਸਿਟਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਪਿਉ ਮੇਰਾ ਰੋਜ਼ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭੱਦਨ ਕੌਣ ਪਿਆ ਕਰਾਵੈ, ਇਉਂ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰਚਣ ਦੇ ਧੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
With the fall of one hair of Lomas Rishi, one Brahma is known to end his life (one can very well guess that like innumerable hair Brahmas are also many).
ਸੇਸਮਹੇਸਵਖਾਣੀਅਨਿਚਿਰੰਜੀਵਹੋਇਸਾਂਤਿਨਆਵੈ।
ਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਨਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਰਜੀਵੀ ਹੋਕੇ ਬੀ ਸ਼ਾਂਤਿ ਨਾ ਆਈ।
Sesanag and Mahesa are also supposed to be living eternally but none has attained peace.
ਜੋਗਭੋਗਜਪਤਪਘਣੇਲੋਕਵੇਦਸਿਮਰਣੁਨਸੁਹਾਵੈ।
ਜੋਗ, ਭੋਗ, ਜਪ, ਤਪ, ਅਤੇ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਘਣੇ ਲੋਕ (ਦਿਖਾਵੇ ਲਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਹ ਈਸ੍ਵਰ ਨੂੰ) ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦੇ।
God does not like the hypocrisy of yoga, hedonism, recitation, asceticism, common customary acts etc.
ਆਪੁਗਣਾਏਨਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਵੈ।੧੦।
ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗਣਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ, ਸਹਿਜ ਪਦਵੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਾ ਸਮਾਏ।
He who keeps his ego with him cannot merge in equipoise.

ਨਾਰਦੁਮੁਨੀਅਖਾਇਦਾਅਗਮੁਜਾਣਿਨਧੀਰਜੁਆਣੈ।
ਨਾਰਦ ਨਾਮੋ ਮੁਨੀ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ (ਸੀ) ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਜਾਣ ਬੁੱਝਕੇ ਬੀ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਧੀਰਜ ਨਾ ਆਈ (ਭਈ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਨਾ ਬੈਠਾ)।
Even being adept in the Vedas and Shastras Narad, the sage, had no forbearance.
ਸੁਣਿਸੁਣਿਮਸਲਤਿਮਜਲਸੈਕਰਿਕਰਿਚੁਗਲੀਆਖਿਵਖਾਣੈ।
ਸਭਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਲਾਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਚੁਗਲੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

ਬਾਲਬੁਧਿਸਨਕਾਦਿਕਾਬਾਲਸੁਭਾਉਨਵਿਰਤੀਹਾਣੈ।
ਸਨਕਾਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਬਾਲਕ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੀ, ਬਾਲ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਨਵਿਰਤੀ ਹਾਣੈ) ਨਵਿਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਹੀਣ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ (ਭਾਵ ਚੰਚਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਤੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੀ, ਮੁੰਡਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਙ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਕੇ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇ ਬੈਠੇ, ਸੋ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ)।

(ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ) ਜਤੀਆਂ ਸਤੀਆਂ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਤ ਸਤ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੀ, ਜੁਗਤੀ, (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਜਤੀਆਂ ਜਤ ਦੀ, ਸਤੀਆਂ ਸਤ ਦੀ, ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆਂ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦੀ ਰੀਤੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣੀ।
So called celibates, virtuous and contented ones have also not understood contentment, the actual technique of celibacy and other virtues.

ਪੰਜਤਤਪਰਵਾਣੁਕਰਿਧਰਮਸਾਲਧਰਤੀਮਨਿਭਾਣੀ।
ਪੰਜਾਂ ਤੱਤਾਂ (ਅਪ, ਤੇਜ, ਵਾਯੂ, ਪ੍ਰਿਥਵੀ, ਅਕਾਸ਼) ਦਾ ਵਜ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ) ਧਰਮਸਾਲ ਰਖਿਆ, (ਇਹ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗੀ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਇਥੇ ਕਰਮ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਫਲੀਭੂਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਯਥਾ:- “ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਬਾਪਿ ਰਖੀ ਧਰਮਸਾਲ”)।

(ਪਰੰਤੂ) ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਧਰਤੀ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਧਰਿਆ ਹੈ।☬ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਉਦਾਲੇ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹਨ. ਅਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚ ਝੀਲਾਂ ਦਰਯਾ ਤੇ ਛੰਭ ਹਨ।
The earth is placed in water and again in earth, water is placed.
ਸਿਰਤਲਵਾਏਰੁਖਹੋਇਨਿਹਚਲੁਚਿਤਨਿਵਾਸੁਬਿਬਾਣੀ।
(ਇਸ ਵਿਖੇ) ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਉਲਟੇ (ਜੰਮ ਕੇ) ਉਜਾੜਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਚਿਤ ਹੋ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ)
Having their heads downward i.e. the trees rooted in earth grow on it and reside in the deep lone forests.
ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀਸੁਫਲਫਲਿਵਟਵਗਾਇਸਿਰਠਿਵਰਸਾਣੀ।
ਚੰਗੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਫਲਕੇ ਪਰੋਪਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ, (ਜੇ ਕੋਈ) ਵੱਟਾ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਉਤੇ (ਸਗੋਂ ਫਲਾਂ ਦਾ) ਵਰਸਾਉ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਗੱਲ ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਆਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੀਰਣਾ ਬੀ ਚਾਹੇ ਉਸਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੀ ਛਾਉਂ ਕਰਣੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਲਣਗੇ)।
These trees are also altruists which when stoned rain fruits for the creatures on earth.
ਚੰਦਨਵਾਸੁਵਣਾਸਪਤਿਚੰਦਨੁਹੋਇਵਾਸੁਮਹਿਕਾਣੀ।
(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਛਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਚੰਦਨ (ਦਾ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਛ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸਦੀ) ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਣਾਸਪਤੀ ਹੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮਹਿਕਦੀ (ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਪਟਾਂ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਚੰਦਨ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਣਾਸਪਤੀ ਹੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੋਕੇ ਮਹਿਕਦੀ (ਚੰਦਨ ਰੂਪੀ ਜੋ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕੌਣ? ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ) ਹੈ।

(ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ (ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰੂਪੀ) ਜੋ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਲਿਵ ਕਹੀਏ) ਨਿਰਵਿਕਲਪ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
In the holy company of Gurmukhs the consciousness is merged into Word and man attains the fruits of delight through the ambrosial speech.

(ਏਹ ਉਕਤ ਭਗਤ ਬੀ 'ਰਾਜ ਕੁਆਰ' ਕਹੀਏ) ਰਾਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਰਜੋ ਗੁਣੀ ਹੀ ਆਸਾ ਬੰਧੀ ਪਈ ਰਹੀ ਦਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਖੇਲ ਰਿਹਾ।

Only Gurmukhs have attained the fruits of delight and only they are accepted (here and hereafter).

ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਾਮਾਂ ਭਗਤ (ਛੀਂਬਾ) ਸੀ, (ਇਸਨੇ) ਠਾਕੁਰ ਦਵਾਰਾ ਫੇਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਗਉ ਜਿਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ।

ਸਤਿਜੁਗੁਉਤਮੁਆਖੀਐਇਕੁਫੇੜੈਸਭਦੇਸੁਦੁਹੇਲਾ।
ਸਤਿਜੁਗ (ਜੁਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ) ਇਕ ਜਣਾ ਖੋਟਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੇਸ (ਸਜ਼ਾ ਨਾਲ) ਪੀੜਤ (ਦੁਖੀ) ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
Satyuga is said to be best but in it one committed sin and the whole country suffered.
ਤ੍ਰੇਤੈਨਗਰੀਪੀੜੀਐਦੁਆਪੁਰਿਵੰਸੁਵਿਧੁੰਸੁਕੁਵੇਲਾ।
(ਤ੍ਰਤੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਾਰੀ) ਨਗਰੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ, ਦੁਆਪਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਕੁਲ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਦੀ (ਕੁਵੱਲੀ) ਖੋਟੀ ਵਿਪਦਾ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
In treta, one did the wrong act and the whole city would suffer. In Duapar, sinful act of one person made the whole family suffer.
ਕਲਿਜੁਗਿਸਚੁਨਿਆਉਹੈਜੋਬੀਜੈਸੋਲੁਣੈਇਕੇਲਾ।
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਿਆਉਂ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੀਜੇ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਵੱਢੇ, (ਭਾਵ-ਪਾਪ ਤੇ ਭਲੇ ਕਰਮ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਭੋਗੇ, ਇਸੇ ਪਰਥਾਇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ 'ਸਤਜੁਗ ਤ੍ਰੇਤਾ ਦੁਆਪਰੁ ਬਣੀਐ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਊਤਮੋ ਜੁਗਾ ਮਾਹਿ॥ ਅਹਿਕਰੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਅਹਿਕਰੁ ਪਾਏ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਪਕੜੀਐ ਕਿਸੈ ਥਾਇ'॥)
The justice of Kaliyuga is true because in it only he reaps who sows the evil seeds.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਪੂਰਨੁਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਸਬਦਿਸੁਰਤਿਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਗੁਰਚੇਲਾ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ 'ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ' ਰੂਪ ਹਨ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਗੁਣ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਜੋ ਸੁਰਤਿ (ਜੋੜਦਾ) ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪੂਜਨੀਯ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ, ਅਥਵਾ ਕਹਿਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ)।
Brahm is the perfect Sabdabrahm and that disciple who merges his consciousness in the Sabdabrahm is in fact Guru and the true Guru (God).

ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ (ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼) ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਕੇ (ਆਸਾ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ ਆਦਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਜਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ)।

ਮਿੱਠਾ ਬੋਲਦਾ, ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ, ਹੱਥੋਂ ਦੇਕੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਹੀਏ) ਸੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਮੱਥੇ ਵੱਟ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ 'ਦਾਣਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਟਹਿਲ ਭਾਉਣੀ ਸਿਖਾਂ ਦੀ')।
A mild spoken, humble and giver through his hands moves in equipoise and remains happy.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਸੁਖਫਲਨੇਹੁਨਵੇਲਾ।੧੬।
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ; ('ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਵੇਲਾ' ਅਰਥਾਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ) ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਇਕ ਵੇਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
Ever new love of devotion to the Lord keeps the gurmukhs happy.

ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁਆਕਾਰੁਕਰਿਜੋਤਿਸਰੂਪੁਅਨੂਪਦਿਖਾਇਆ।
(ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ('ਅਕਾਰ' ਪੰਜ-ਭੋਤਕ) ਦੇਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੋਤਿਮਯ ਅਨੂਪਮ ਰੂਪ (ਉਸ ਵਿਖੇ) ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
The formless Lord has been beholden in the form of the light (in Guru Nanak and other Gurus).
ਵੇਦਕਤੇਬਅਗੋਚਰਾਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
ਵੇਦਾਂ ਅਰ ਕਤੇਬਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਜੋ ਅਕੱਥਨੀਯ ਹੈ ਉਸਦਾ 'ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ' ਮੰਤਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ (ਜਾਂ ਵੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਤੋਂ ਅਗੋਚਰਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਤਰ ਦਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਥਵਾ)।
The Gurus recited Word-Guru as Vahiguru who is beyond the Vedas and Katebas (the semtic scriptures).
ਚਾਰਿਵਰਨਚਾਰਿਮਜਹਬਾਚਰਣਕਵਲਸਰਣਾਗਤਿਆਇਆ।
(ਇਸੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਿੰਦੁਆਂ ਦੇ) ਚਾਰ ਵਰਣ (ਅਰ ਮੁਹੰਮਦੀ ਮਤ ਵਿਖੇ) ਚਾਰ ਮਜ਼ਹਬ (ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੇ) ਚਰਨਾ ਕਵਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਣੀ ਆ ਪਏ।
Therefore all the four varnas and all four semitic religions have sought the shelter of the lotus feet of the Guru.
ਪਾਰਸਿਪਰਸਿਅਪਰਸਜਗਿਅਸਟਧਾਤੁਇਕੁਧਾਤੁਕਰਾਇਆ।
ਪਾਰਸ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ) ਪਰਸ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣਾ ਸਪਰਸ਼ ਕਰਕੇ) ਅਪਰਸ (=ਅਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ) ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਅੱਠਾ ਧਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ, ਇਕ ਧਾਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਭਾਵ ਚਾਰ ਵਰਣ ਤੇ ਚਾਰ ਆਸ਼ਰਮ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਿਹਾ ਨਿਸ਼ਕਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ)।
When the Gurus in the form of Philosopher’s stone touched them, that alloy of eight metal changed into one metal (gold in the form of Sikhism).
ਪੈਰੀਪਾਇਨਿਵਾਇਕੈਹਉਮੈਰੋਗੁਅਸਾਧੁਮਿਟਾਇਆ।
(ਆਪਣੇ) ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾ ਨਿੰਮ੍ਰੀ ਭੂਤ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਅਸਾਧ ਰੋਗ (ਕੁਸ਼ਟ) ਮਿਟਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The Gurus giving them place at their feet removed their incurable malady of ego.
ਹੁਕਮਿਰਜਾਈਚਲਣਾਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਗਾਡੀਰਾਹੁਚਲਾਇਆ।
('ਰਜਾਈ'=) ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਚੱਲਣ ਦਾ ('ਗਾਡੀ ਰਾਹ' ਖੁਲ੍ਹਾ ਜਾਂ) ਪੱਧਰਾ ਰਾਹ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਚਲਾਇਆ। (ਯਥਾ:- 'ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ')।
For Gurmukhs they cleared the highway of God’s will.
ਪੂਰੇਪੂਰਾਥਾਟੁਬਣਾਇਆ।੧੭।
ਪੂਰੇ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ) ਨੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਥਾਟ (=ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਸਚੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਦਾ) ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।☬ਭਾਵ- ਜੋ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹੀ ਭਾਈ ਭਿਖਾਰੀ ਵਾਂਙੂ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਹਨ।
The perfect (Guru) made the perfect arrangements.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੮
ਜੰਮਣੁਮਰਣਹੁਬਾਹਰੇਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀਜਗਵਿਚਿਆਏ।
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ (ਓਹ) ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਏ।
Being beyond transmigration the altruists came in this world.
ਭਾਉਭਗਤਿਉਪਦੇਸੁਕਰਿਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਚਖੰਡਿਵਸਾਏ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ (ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾ ਨੇ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਰੂਪ ਸਚਖੰਡ (ਧਰਤਿ ਪੁਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਦਿਤੇ।
Preaching loving devotion, they, through the holy congregation reside in the abode of truth.
ਮਾਨਸਰੋਵਰਿਪਰਮਹੰਸਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਲਿਵਲਾਏ।
(ਓਹ) ਮਾਨ ਸਰੋਵਰ (ਰੂਪੀ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੇ) ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੁਰਤ ਦੀ (ਲਿਵ) ਤਾਰ ਲਾਈ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ।
Gurmukhs being swans of highest order (paramhains) keep their consciousness merged in Word, the Brahm.
ਚੰਦਨਵਾਸੁਵਣਾਸਪਤਿਅਫਲਸਫਲਚੰਦਨਮਹਕਾਏ।
ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਾਸਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਅਫਲ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਸਫਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਕ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
They are like sandal, which makes the fruitful and fruitless vegetation fragrant.
ਭਵਜਲਅੰਦਰਿਬੋਹਿਥੈਹੋਇਪਰਵਾਰਸਧਾਰਲੰਘਾਏ।
(ਓਹ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਰੂਪੀ ਹਨ, ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ (ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੈਲ ਥੋਂ ਸੁੱਧ ਕਰਕੇ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Into the world ocean they are like that vessel which takes the whole family across comfortably.
ਲਹਰਿਤਰੰਗੁਨਵਿਆਪਈਮਾਇਆਵਿਚਿਉਦਾਸੁਰਹਾਏ।
ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਰੰਗ (ਸੰਸਾਰਿਕ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਹਿਲਾਉ ਉਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦੇ, ਓਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਖੇ ਰਹਿਕੇ ਉਦਸੀਨ ਰਹੇ। (ਯਥਾ- 'ਤੈਸਾ ਹਰਖੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਉਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ॥' ਭਾਵ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤਿ ਵਿਪਦਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਲੀਨ ਤੇ ਸੰਪਦਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਟਹਿਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਭਾਵ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ)।
They remain undistributed and detached amid the waves of worldly phenomena.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਏ।੧੮।
(ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ 'ਸੁਖ ਫਲ' ਰੂਪ ਸਹਜ ਪਦਵੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਮਾਏ।☬ਭਾਵ- ਨਿਰਵਿਕਲਪ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਗਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਓੜਕ ਦੀ ਦੇਹ ਜਾਣਕੇ ਭਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਲਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਈ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਜੀ ੨੨ ਗਜ਼ਲ ਦੇ ਤੀਜੇ ਸ਼ਿਅਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ:-☬'ਈਂ ਉਮਰੇ ਗਿਰਾਂ ਮਾਯਹ ਗ਼ਨੀਮਤ ਸ਼ਮ
Remaining absorbed in the equipoise is the delightful fruit if the gurmukhs.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੯
ਧੰਨੁਗੁਰੂਗੁਰਸਿਖੁਧੰਨੁਆਦਿਪੁਰਖੁਆਦੇਸੁਕਰਾਇਆ।
ਧੰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਨ, (ਓਹ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਬੀ ਧੰਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਲਾਇਕ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਣਾ (ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਣਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸਿਖਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
The blest is disciple as well as the Guru who has made the disciple to pray before the primeval Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਦਰਸਨੁਧੰਨੁਹੈਧੰਨਦਿਸਟਿਗੁਰਧਿਆਨੁਧਰਾਇਆ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, (ਅਰ ਓਹ 'ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਿ' ਅਰਥਾਤ) ਨੇਤਰ ਧੰਨ ਹਨ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Blessed is the glimpse of the true Guru and that vision is also blessed one which peeps the mind concentrated upon the Guru.
ਧੰਨੁਧੰਨੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਧੰਨੁਸੁਰਤਿਗੁਰਗਿਆਨੁਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਬਦ ਬੀ (ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਕਹੀਏ) ਅਤਿ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਧੰਨ ਉਹ ਗਿਆਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
The Word of the true Guru and that meditational faculty is also blessed which has made the mind sustain the true knowledge bestowed by Guru.
ਚਰਣਕਵਲਗੁਰਧੰਨੁਧੰਨੁਧੰਨੁਮਸਤਕੁਗੁਰਚਰਣੀਲਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣ ਕਵਲ ਧੰਨ ਹਨ, ਧੰਨ ਓਹ ਮੱਥਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ।
Blessed are the lotus feet of the Guru along with that forehead which rests upon the feet of the Guru.
ਧੰਨੁਧੰਨੁਗੁਰਉਪਦੇਸੁਹੈਧੰਨੁਰਿਦਾਗੁਰਮੰਤ੍ਰੁਵਸਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਧੰਨ ਓਹ ਰਿਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਥੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਤਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਲ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਹੈ, ਧੰਨ ਓਹ ('ਮੁਹਤ') ਅੱਧੀ ਘੜੀ ਹੈ (ਵੇਲਾ) ਜਦੋਂ ਓਹ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਤ ਪੀਤਾ।
Auspicious is the wash of Guru’s feet’s and that wisdom is also blessed one which understanding its importance has tasted that rare nectar.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖੁਫਲੁਅਜਰੁਜਰਾਇਆ।੧੯।
(ਧੰਨ ਉਹ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 'ਸੁਖ ਫਲ' (ਆਤਮ ਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਜੋ) ਅਜਰ ਵਸਤੂ ਹੈ ਜਰ ਲੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
This way, the gurmukhs have endured the unsustainable delight of the fruit of Guru’s Glimpse.

ਸੁਖਸਾਗਰੁਹੈਸਾਧਸੰਗੁਸੋਭਾਲਹਰਿਤਰੰਗਅਤੋਲੇ।
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ (ਉਥੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਰੂਪੀ) ਲਹਿਰਾਂ (ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਭਰੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਰੂਪ) ਤਰੰਗ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਸ਼ੋਭਦੇ ਹਨ।
Holy congregation is that ocean of delight in which the waves of Lord’s praise adorn it.
ਮਾਣਕਮੋਤੀਹੀਰਿਆਗੁਰਉਪਦੇਸੁਅਵੇਸੁਅਮੋਲੇ।
(ਫੇਰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ (ਰੂਪ) ਅਮੋਲਕ ਮਾਣਕ, ਮੋਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੀਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ-ਮਨਨ, ਵੈਰਾਗ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਆਦਿ ਸਭ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਦਮਾਨ ਹਨ)।
Myriad rubies diamonds and pearls in the form of Guru’s teachings exist in this ocean.
ਰਾਗਰਤਨਅਨਹਦਧੁਨੀਸਬਦਿਸੁਰਤਿਲਿਵਅਗਮਅਲੋਲੇ।
ਰਾਗ ਰਤਨ ਉੱਤਮ ਰਾਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਧੁਨੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਬਦ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਖੇ ਲਿਵ (ਲਾਉਣਹਾਰੇ) ਗੰਮਤਾ ਤੋ ਪਰੇ (ਅਰ) ਅਡੋਲ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਚੰਚਲ ਹੋ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਨੋਂ ਇਹੋ ਮੋਤੀ ਮਾਣਕ ਕੱਢਣਹਾਰੇ ਮਰਜੀਵੜੇ ਹਨ)।

Here the miraculous powers are subservient and the four ideals of life (dharm, arth, kam and moks) are servants and being transitory does not attract the attention of the people who reached this stage.

ਲਖ ਲਖ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਮਸ਼ਾਲਚੀ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਤ ਝੋਲਕੇ (ਬੂਰ ਹਟਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਵ ਨਿਰਣਯ ਕਰਕੇ) ਨਾਮਾਂਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੂ ਹਨ)।
