ਬਦੁਜ਼ਦੀਮਤਾਰਾਨਆਲੂਦਹਦਸਤ॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਚੋਰੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਗੰਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ
‘(He) does not handle the stolen goods,
ਬਖ਼ੁਰਸ਼ੇਹਰਾਮੋਕੁਸ਼ਾਯਦਨਦਸਤ॥੩੪॥
ਅਤੇ ਹਰਾਮ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਧਾਏ ਹਨ ॥੩੪॥
‘Because he cannot stretch his hands to grab other person’s belongings.(34)
ਬਖ਼ੁਦਦਸਤਖ਼ਾਹੰਦਨਗੀਰੰਦਮਾਲ॥
ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਾ) ਮਾਲ ਹਥਿਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਖਦਾ,
‘(He) does not wish to touch other people’s effects,
ਨਰਇਯਤਖ਼ਰਾਸ਼ੀਨਆਜਜ਼ਜ਼ਵਾਲ॥੩੫॥
ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੫॥
‘He does not bother his subject and the poor are not trodden.(35)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰਜ਼ਨਨਖ਼ੁਦਦਸਤਅੰਦਾਖ਼ਤਨ॥
ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ
‘Neither he mishandles other person’s woman,
ਰਈਯਤਖ਼ੁਲਾਸਹਨਬਰਤਾਖ਼ਤਨ॥੩੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੬॥
‘Nor he infringes with the independence of his subject.(36)
ਬਖ਼ੁਦਦਸਤਰਿਸ਼ਵਤਨਆਲੂਦਹਕਰਦ॥
ਜੋ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਗੰਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ
‘He does not defile his hands by accepting bribes.
ਕਿਅਜ਼ਸ਼ਾਹਿਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਬਰਾਵੁਰਦਗਰਦ॥੩੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੋਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
‘Rather he raises them to put to dust the foes of the king.(37)
ਨਜਾਏਅਦੂਰਾਦਿਹਦਵਕਤਜੰਗ॥
ਜੋ ਜੰਗ ਵੇਲੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ,
‘In the jungle he does not give chance to the enemy,
ਬੁਬਾਰਸ਼ਦਿਹਦਤੇਗ਼ਤਰਕਸ਼ਖ਼ਤੰਗ॥੩੮॥
ਜੋ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਭੱਥੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੮॥
‘By throwing arrows and brandishing the sword.(38)
ਨਰਾਮਸ਼ਦਿਹਦਅਸਪਰਾਵਕਤਕਾਰ॥
ਜੋ ਕੰਮ ਵੇਲੇ (ਭਾਵ ਜੰਗ ਵੇਲੇ) ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ
‘During the action he do not let the horses rest,
ਨਜਾਯਸ਼ਅਦੂਰਾਦਿਹਦਦਰਦਿਯਾਰ॥੩੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੁਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੰਦਾ ॥੩੯॥
‘And does not let the enemy enter the country.(39)
ਕਿਬੇਦਸਤਓਹਸਤਗੋਪੁਰਹੁਨਰ॥
ਗੁਣਵਾਨ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
‘The one who exists having no hands, is unblemished,
ਬਆਲੂਦਗੀਦਰਨਬਸਤਨਕਮਰ॥੪੦॥
ਜੋ ਬੁਰਾਈ ਲਈ ਲਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਦਾ ॥੪੦॥
‘Because he cannot not indulge in the bad deeds.(40)
ਨਗੋਯਦਕਸੇਬਦਸੁਖ਼ਨਜ਼ੀਂਜ਼ੁਬਾਨ॥
ਜੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਮਾੜਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ,
‘The one who does not use one’s tongue (negatively),
ਕਿਓਬੇਜ਼ੁਬਾਨਸਤਜ਼ਾਹਰਜਹਾਨ॥੪੧॥
ਉਹ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬੇਜ਼ਬਾਨ (ਗੂੰਗਾ) ਹੈ ॥੪੧॥
‘That tongue-less gets fame in the world.(41)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਨਨਬਦਸੁਖ਼ਨਕਸਰਾਬਗੋਸ਼॥
ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ।
‘One who does not listen to the back-biting talks,
ਕਿਓਹਸਤਬੇਗੋਸ਼ਗੋਈਬਹੋਸ਼॥੪੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੂਝਵਾਨ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੪੨॥
‘He is like a deaf-mute.(42)
ਕਿਪਸਪਰਦਹਚੁਗ਼ਲੀਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਨਨਕਸ॥
ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਪਰਦੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਚੁਗ਼ਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦਾ,
‘The one who does not think the ill of any body even in adversity,
ਵਜ਼ਾਖ਼ੁਦਸ਼ਨਾਸੀਕਿਗੋਈਸ਼ਹਸ॥੪੩॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਸਮਝੋ ਅਤੇ ਕਹੋ ॥੪੩॥
‘(He is) considered as worthy as your king.(43)
ਕਸੇਕਾਰਬਦਰਾਨਗੀਰੰਦਬੋਇ॥
ਜੋ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਬੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦਾ,
‘One who is not receptive to hear against any body,
ਕਿਓਹਸਤਬੇਬੀਨਿਓਨੇਕਖ਼ੋਇ॥੪੪॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਨੇਕ ਸੁਭਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝੋ ॥੪੪॥
‘He is without an ego and is of good nature.(44)
ਨਹਉਲੋਦਿਗ਼ਰਹਸਤਜੁਜ਼ਬਾਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ॥
ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਡਰਦਾ
‘Except God, one who does not fear any body,
ਕਿਹਿੰਮਤਵਰਾਰਾਦਰਾਰਦਜ਼ਿਪਾਇ॥੪੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਧੋਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੫॥
‘He treads upon the enemy eliminating him in the dust.(45)
ਬਹੋਸ਼ਅੰਦਰਆਮਦਹਮਹਵਕਤਜੰਗ॥
ਜੋ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜੰਗ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੋਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ
‘He remains alert through out the battle,
ਕਿਕੋਸ਼ਸ਼ਕੁਨਦਪਾਇਬਤੀਰੋਤੁਫ਼ੰਗ॥੪੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰ ਤੇ ਬੰਦੂਕ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੬॥
‘And uses hands and feet to throw arrows and shoots guns.(46)
ਕਿਦਰਕਾਰਇਨਸਾਫਓਹਿੰਮਤਅਸਤ॥
ਜੋ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
‘To do the justice, he always girds up his lions,
ਕਿਦਰਪੇਸ਼ਗੁਰਬਾਇਓਆਜਜ਼ਅਸਤ॥੪੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਗ਼ਰੀਬਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੭॥
‘And remains meek in the company of the meek.(47)
ਨਹੀਲਹਕੁਨਦਵਕਤਦਰਕਾਰਜ਼ਾਰ॥
ਜੋ ਜੰਗ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਾਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਘੜਦਾ
‘Neither he depicts any hesitation during the war,
ਨਹੈਬਤਕੁਨਦਦੁਸ਼ਮਨਾਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ॥੪੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਡਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੪੮॥
‘Nor he gets scared while facing gigantic enemies.(48)
ਹਰਾਕਸਕਿਜ਼ੀਂਹਸਤਗਾਜ਼ੀਬਵਦ॥
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
‘If there has been such a dauntless person,
ਬਕਾਰੇਜਹਾਰਜ਼ਮਸਾਜ਼ੀਕੁਨਦ॥੪੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਨ ਵੇਲੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਾਲੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪੯॥
‘Who remains prepared for war remaining domesticated,(49)
ਕਸੇਰਾਕਿਈਂਕਾਰਆਯਦਪਸੰਦ॥
ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਢੁਕਣਗੀਆਂ,
‘And his operations are approved by people,
ਵਜ਼ਾਸ਼ਾਹਿਬਾਸ਼ਦਜਹਾਅਰਜ਼ਮੰਦ॥੫੦॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਣਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰੇਗਾ ॥੫੦॥
‘He is revered as the saviour king.’(50)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਈਂਸੁਖ਼ਨਦਉਰਦਾਨਾਵਜ਼ੀਰ॥
ਸਮਝਦਾਰ ਵਜ਼ੀਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝ ਲਈ (ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸਾਫ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ)
Thus he had spoken to the wise minister,
ਕਿਆਕਲਸ਼ਨਾਸਅਸਤਪੋਜ਼ਸ਼ਪਜ਼ੀਰ॥੫੧॥
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਕਲਮੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੧॥
Who was intelligent enough to acquiesce to these exhortations.(51)
ਕਸੇਰਾਸ਼ਨਾਸਦਬਅਕਲੇਬਿਹੀ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਅਕਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੋ,
(Minister:) ‘Adopt a person, who manifests wisdom,
ਮਰੋਰਾਬਿਦਿਹਤਾਜੁਤਖ਼ਤੋਮਹੀ॥੫੨॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਤਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ॥੫੨॥
‘Let him rule the earth by occupying the throne and crown.(52)
ਬਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦਓਰਾਮਹੀਤਖ਼ਤਤਾਜ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਤਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਦੇਣਾ
‘Endow him the throne and power to rule,
ਗਰਓਰਾਸ਼ਨਾਸੀਰਈਯਤਨਿਵਾਜ਼॥੫੩॥
ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਮਝ ਲਵੋ ॥੫੩॥
‘Provided he has the ability to recognise the public.’(53)
ਬਹੈਰਤਦਰਆਮਦਬਪਿਸਰਾਚਹਾਰ॥
(ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਚਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ
All the four sons were amazed to hear all this.
ਕਸੇਗੋਇਗੀਰਦਹਮਹਵਕਤਕਾਰ॥੫੪॥
ਕਿ ਕੰਮ ਵੇਲੇ ਕੌਣ ਰਾਜ ਰੂਪੀ ਗੋਂਦ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਲਵੇਗਾ ॥੫੪॥
Who will pick the ball now? They pondered.(54)
ਹਰਾਕਸਕਿਰਾਅਕਲਯਾਰੀਦਿਹਦ॥
ਜਿਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੀ ਅਕਲ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ,
One, whose intelligence supports him,
ਬਕਾਰੇਜਹਾਕਾਮਗਾਰੀਕੁਨਦ॥੫੫॥
ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫੫॥
And whose desires are fulfilled.(55)
ਬਿਦਿਹਸਾਕੀਯਾਸਾਗ਼ਰੇਸਬਜ਼ਰੰਗ॥
ਹੇ ਸਾਕੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਰੇ ਰੰਗ (ਭਾਵ ਹਰਿਨਾਮ)
ਕਿਮਾਰਾਬਕਾਰਅਸਤਦਰਵਕਤਜੰਗ॥੫੬॥
(ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ) ਦਾ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਜੋ ਜੰਗ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਵੇਗਾ ॥੫੬॥
ਬਿਦਿਹਸਾਕੀਯਾਸਾਗ਼ਰੇਨੈਨਪਾਨ॥
ਹੇ ਸਾਕੀ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨੈਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਸਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ
(The poet says), “Oh! Saki, bring me the cup full of eyes-exhilarator,
ਕੁਨਦਪੀਰਸਦਸਾਲਹਰਾਨਉਜਵਾਨ॥੫੭॥੩॥
ਜੋ ਸੌ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਢੇ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੭॥੩॥
Which restores the youthful vigour in a hundred year old.(57)
