ਬੁਰੀਦਹਸਰਓਰਾਰਵਾਜਾਇਗਸ਼ਤ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਉਧਰ ਵਲ (ਲੈ ਕੇ) ਚਲ ਪਈ
She took the head and went to the place
ਦਰਾਜਾਸਬਲਸਿੰਘਕਿਬਿਨਸ਼ਸਤਹਅਸਤ॥੧੫॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਬਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧੫॥
where Sambal Singh (the Raja) was seated.(15)
ਤੁਗੁਫ਼ਤੀਮਰਾਹਮਚੁਨੀਕਰਦਹਅਮ॥
ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
‘(Oh! Raja), the way you told me, I have done.
ਬਪੇਸ਼ੇਤੁਈਂਸਰਮਨਆਵੁਰਦਹਅਮ॥੧੬॥
ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦਾ) ਸਿਰ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਲੈ ਆਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬॥
‘Here, I put the Quazi’s head in front of you.(16)
ਅਗਰਸਰਤੁਖ਼ਾਹੀਸਰਤੁਮੇਦਿਹਮ॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਚਾਹੇਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਵੀ ਕਟ ਦੇਵਾਂ
‘Even if you want my head, I can give it to you,
ਬਜਾਨੋਦਿਲੇਬਰਤੁਆਸ਼ਕਸ਼ੁਦਮ॥੧੭॥
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਦਿਲੋ-ਜਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਆਸ਼ਕ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੭॥
‘Because I love you from, both, my heart and soul.(17)
ਕਿਇਮਸ਼ਬਕੁਨਆਂਅਹਿਦਤੋਬਸਤਈ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ!) ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਅਜ ਰਾਤ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇ।
‘Oh! my lover, Whatever the word you gave me, you fulfil this very evening.
ਬਗਮਜ਼ਹਿਚਸ਼ਮਜਾਨਮਨਕੁਸ਼ਤਈ॥੧੮॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਨੇਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਟਾਖ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਕੋਹੀ ਜਾ ਚੁਕੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੮॥
‘Through the winks of your eyes, you have captured my soul.‘(18)
ਚੁਦੀਦਸ਼ਸਰੇਰਾਜਹੇਨਉਜਵਾ॥
ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ (ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸਿਰ ਵੇਖਿਆ
When the Raja looked at the severed-head, he became fearful,
ਬਤਰਸੀਦਗੁਫ਼ਤਾਹਕਿਏਬਦਨਿਸ਼ਾ॥੧੯॥
ਤਾਂ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਭੈੜੇ ਲੱਛਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੀਏ! ॥੧੯॥
And said, ‘Oh! You the devilish,(19)
ਚੁਨਾਬਦਤੁਕਰਦੀਖ਼ੁਦਵੰਦਖ਼ੇਸ਼॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
‘If you have treated your husband so wickedly,
ਕਿਮਾਰਾਚਿਯਾਰੀਅਜ਼ੀਂਕਾਰਬੇਸ਼॥੨੦॥
ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ॥੨੦॥
‘Then what would you not do to me?(20)
ਜ਼ਿਤੋਦੋਸਤੀਮਨਬਬਾਜ਼ਆਮਦਮ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਦੋਸਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਜ਼ ਆਇਆ।
‘I am better off without your friendship, I renounce your fraternity.
ਜ਼ਿਕਰਦਹਤੁਮਨਦਰਨਿਯਾਜ਼ਆਮਦਮ॥੨੧॥
ਤੇਰੇ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਨਾਮੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੨੧॥
‘Your deed has dreaded me.’(21)
ਚੁਨੀਬਦਤੁਕਰਦੀਖ਼ੁਦਾਵੰਦਕਾਰ॥
ਤੂੰ ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਾੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ,
‘You have treated your husband in such a bad manner,
ਮਰਾਕਰਦਹਬਾਸ਼ੀਚੁਨੀਰੋਜ਼ਗਾਰ॥੨੨॥
ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਕਰੇਂਗੀ ॥੨੨॥
‘You may administer your ill-designs on me too.(22)
ਬਿਅੰਦਾਖ਼ਤਸਰਰਾਦਰਾਜਾਜ਼ਿਦਸਤ॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਹ ਸਿਰ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ
She threw the head there and then,
ਬਰੇਸੀਨਹਓਸਰਬਿਜ਼ਦਹਰਦੁਦਸਤ॥੨੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਸਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਛਾਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੨੩॥
And started to beat her chest and head with her hands.(23)
ਮਰਾਪੁਸ਼ਤਦਾਦੀਤੁਰਾਹਕਦਿਹਦ॥
(ਰੋ ਕੇ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ) ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਠ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਪਿਠ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ,
‘You have turned your back on me and God will turn his on you,
ਵਜ਼ਾਰੋਜ਼ਮਉਲਾਇਕਾਜ਼ੀਸ਼ਵਦ॥੨੪॥
ਜਿਸ ਦਿਨ ਮੌਲਾ ਇਨਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ॥੨੪॥
‘And that will be the day of God’s judgement upon you.’(24)
ਬਿਅੰਦਾਖ਼ਤਸਰਖ਼ਾਨਹਆਮਦਬੁਬਾਜ਼॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਥੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਈ
Throwing the head there, she returned to her house.
ਬਆਂਲਾਸ਼ਕਾਜ਼ੀਬਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਪੀਦਦਰਾਜ਼॥੨੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਲਾਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਲੰਬੀ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸੌਂ ਗਈ ॥੨੫॥
Lying besides the dead-body of the Quazi, she went to sleep.(25)
ਬਿਅੰਦਾਖ਼ਤਬਰਸਰਜ਼ਿਖ਼ੁਦਦਸਤਖ਼ਾਕ॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾ ਲਈ
(Later, she got up), put dust in her hair, and shouted.
ਬਿਗੁਫ਼ਤਾਕਿਖ਼ੇਜ਼ੇਦਯਾਰਾਨਪਾਕ॥੨੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਪਾਕ ਦੋਸਤੋ! ਉਠੋ ॥੨੬॥
‘Oh! My pious friends, get here,(26)
ਕਿਬਦਕਾਰਕਰਦਈਂਕਸੇਸ਼ੋਰਬਖ਼ਤ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਭੈੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਮਾੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ
‘Some evil man has committed an evil act.
ਕਿਕਾਜ਼ੀਬਜਾਕੁਸ਼ਤਯਕਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਸਖ਼ਤ॥੨੭॥
ਕਿ ਇਕੋ ਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੨੭॥
‘With one stroke he has killed the Quazi.’(27)
ਬਹਰਜਾਕਿਯਾਬੇਦਖ਼ੂੰਨਸ਼ਨਿਸ਼ਾ॥
ਜਿਸ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਹੂ ਦੇ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਪਏ ਸਨ,
Following the traces of blood, people started to proceed,
ਹੁਮਾਰਾਹਗੀਰੰਦਹਮਹਮਰਦੁਮਾ॥੨੮॥
ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਉਧਰ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ॥੨੮॥
And they all took the same path.(28)
ਬਆਂਜਾਜਹਾਖ਼ਲਕਇਸਤਾਦਹਕਰਦ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਸਭ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਜਾ ਖੜਾ ਕੀਤਾ,
She brought all the people to that place,
ਬਜਾਏਕਿਸਰਕਾਜ਼ੀਅਫ਼ਤਾਦਹਕਰਦ॥੨੯॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੨੯॥
Where she had thrown the Quazi’s head.(29)
ਬਿਦਾਨਿਸ਼ਤਹਮਹਔਰਤੋਮਰਦੁਮਾ॥
ਸਭ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਰਦਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਿਆ
The woman convinced the people,
ਕਿਈਂਰਾਬਕੁਸ਼ਤਅਸਤਰਾਜਹਹੁਮਾ॥੩੦॥
ਕਿ ਇਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕਤਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੦॥
That the Raja had killed the Quazi.(30)
ਗਿਰਫ਼ਤੰਦਓਰਾਬੁਬਸਤੰਦਸਖ਼ਤ॥
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ।
They (the people) got hold of the Raja and tied him,
ਕਿਜਾਏਜਹਾਗੀਰਬਿਨਸ਼ਸਤਹਤਖ਼ਤ॥੩੧॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਜਹਾਂਗੀਰ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੀ, ਉਥੇ ਲੈ ਗਏ ॥੩੧॥
And brought him there, where the (Emperor) Jehangir was seated on his throne.(31)
ਬਿਗੁਫ਼ਤੰਦਕਿਈਂਰਾਹਵਾਲਹਕੁਨਦ॥
(ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਇਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਔਰਤ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿਓ।
The Emperor thought, ‘If I hand over (the Raja) to the Quazi’s wife,
ਬਦਿਲਹਰਚਿਦਾਰਦਸਜ਼ਾਯਸ਼ਦਿਹਦ॥੩੨॥
ਇਸ ਦਾ ਜੋ ਦਿਲ ਚਾਹੇ, ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੩੨॥
‘She will deal with him the way she wanted.’(32)
ਬਿਫ਼ਰਮੂਦਜਲਾਦਰਾਸ਼ੋਰਬਖ਼ਤ॥
(ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ) ਜਲਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਇਆ
Then he ordered the executioner,
ਕਿਈਂਸਰਜੁਦਾਕੁਨਬਯਕਜ਼ਖ਼ਮਸਖ਼ਤ॥੩੩॥
ਕਿ ਇਕ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਭਾਗੇ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਵਖਰਾ ਕਰ ਦੇ ॥੩੩॥
‘Slay the head of this man with one hard stroke.’(33)
ਚੁਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੇਰਰਾਦੀਦਆਂਨੌਜਵਾ॥
ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ
When that young man saw the sword,
ਬਲਰਜ਼ਹਦਰਾਮਦਚੁਸਰਵੇਗਿਰਾ॥੩੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਸਰੂ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਵਾਂਗ ਕੰਬਣ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ ॥੩੪॥
He started to shake like a huge cypress tree.(34)
ਬਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਕਿਮਨਕਾਰਬਦਕਰਦਹਅਮ॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਮਾੜਾ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ
And whispered (to the woman), ‘Whatever bad deed I performed,
ਬਕਾਰੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਤਉਰਖ਼ੁਦਕਰਦਹਅਮ॥੩੫॥
ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੩੫॥
‘I did it to capture your heart.’(35)
ਨਮੂਦਹਇਸ਼ਾਰਤਬਿਚਸ਼ਮੇਬਿਆਂ॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ
Then, winking, he added, ‘Oh you the Lady among all the ladies.
ਕਿਏਬਾਨੂਏਸਰਵਰੇਬਾਨੂਆਂ॥੩੬॥
ਕਿ ਐ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਤਾਜ! ॥੩੬॥
‘And the Queen among all the Queens,(36)
ਬਹੁਕਮੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਮਨਖ਼ਤਾਕਰਦਹਅਮ॥
ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਖ਼ਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।
‘If I disobeyed you, I committed a sin.
ਕਿਕਾਰਈਂਬਬੇਮਸਲਹਤਕਰਦਹਅਮ॥੩੭॥
ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੋਚੇ ਸਮਝੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੩੭॥
‘I committed this act without thinking and without asking you,(37)
ਖ਼ਲਾਸਮਬਿਦਿਹਅਹਦਕਰਦਮਕਬੂਲ॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਜਲਾਦਾਂ) ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਲਾਸ ਕਰਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਚਨ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
‘Now, let me go free. I will obey your command,
ਕਿਅਹਿਦੇਖ਼ੁਦਾਅਸਤਕਸਮੇਰਸੂਲ॥੩੮॥
ਮੈਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦੀ ਕਸਮ ਅਤੇ ਰਸੂਲ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ॥੩੮॥
‘And I say this to swear upon the God.(38)
