ਬਿਗੋਯਦਕਿਏਸ਼ਾਹਮਾਰਾਬਿਕੁਨ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ! ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ।
She asked, ‘Oh, the prince, make me your spouse,
ਕਿਦਹਿਸ਼ਤਕਸੇਮਰਦਦੀਗਰਮਕੁਨ॥੭॥
ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੭॥
‘And do not care about any body else.’(7)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਮਕਿਦਰਸ਼ਾਹਿਹਿੰਦੋਸਤਾ॥
(ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਮੈਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹਿੰਦੁਤਸਤਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ।
(The Prince said,) ‘I have heard about the king of Hindustan,
ਕਿਨਾਮੇਵਜ਼ਾਸ਼ੇਰਸ਼ਾਹੇਵਜ਼ਾ॥੮॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਸ਼ੇਰਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ ॥੮॥
‘The name of that strong man is Sher Shah.(8)
ਚੁਨਾਨਸ਼ਤਦਸਤੂਰਮੁਲਕੇਖ਼ੁਦਾ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਅਸੂਲ ਹੈ
‘The standard of morality in that God fearing country is such,
ਬਯਕਦਾਨਬੇਗਾਨਰੇਜ਼ਦਜੁਦਾ॥੯॥
ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਵੀ ਬਾਹਰਲਾ ਦਾਣਾ ਰਲਿਆ ਦਿਖੇ, ਤਾਂ ਵਖ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੯॥
‘That no one can plunder even an iota of other’s rights.(9)
ਬਿਗ਼ੀਰੰਦਸ਼ਾਹੀਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦਤੁਰਗ਼॥
(ਉਹ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਜ ਪਕੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਹਿਰੀ (ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਪੰਛੀ) ਆਮ ਪੰਛੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੁਟ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
‘To attain the kingdom, he had driven out the enemy,
ਬਪੇਸ਼ੇਗੁਰੇਜ਼ਦਚੁਅਜ਼ਬਾਜ਼ਮੁਰਗ਼॥੧੦॥
(ਜਾਂ ਵੈਰੀ ਉਸ ਅਗੇ) ਇੰਜ ਭਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਜ਼ ਅਗੇ ਪੰਛੀ (ਮੁਰਗ਼ਾ) ਭਜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੦॥
‘(And the enemy) had dashed away like a cock in front of a falcon.(10)
ਬਿਗੀਰਦਅਜ਼ੋਹਰਦੁਅਸਪੇਕਲਾ॥
ਉਸ ਸ਼ੇਰਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਸੌਦਾਗਰ ਤੋਂ) ਦੋ ਵੱਡੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਲਏ ਸਨ
‘From the enemy, he had snatched two horses,
ਕਿਮੁਲਕੋਅਰਾਕਸ਼ਬਿਆਮਦਅਜ਼ਾ॥੧੧॥
ਜੋ ਇਰਾਕ ਦੇਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ ਸਨ ॥੧੧॥
‘Which were brought from the country of Iraq.(11)
ਬਿਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦਓਰਾਬਸੇਜ਼ਰਦੁਫ਼ੀਲ॥
ਉਸ (ਸੌਦਾਗਰ) ਨੂੰ (ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਹਾਥੀ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ,
‘Also, the enemy had presented him a lot of gold, and elephants,
ਕਿਬੇਰੂੰਬਿਆਵੁਰਦਦਰੀਯਾਇਨੀਲ॥੧੨॥
ਜੋ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਲ ਦਰਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰੋਂ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧੨॥
‘Which were brought from across the (river) Nile.(12)
ਯਕੇਨਾਮਰਾਹੋਸੁਰਾਹੋਦਿਗਰ॥
ਇਕ ਘੋੜੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਰਾਹੋ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਾ ਸੁਰਾਹੋ ਸੀ।
‘The name of one horse is Rahu and the other is Surahu.
ਚੁਆਹੂਕਲਾਪਾਇਅਜ਼ੀਮੇਦੁਨਰ॥੧੩॥
ਉਹ ਹਿਰਨ ਵਰਗੇ ਤੇਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਸਨ; ਮਾਨੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੧੩॥
‘Both are grand and their hooves are like the feet of the stags.(13)
ਅਗਰਅਸਪਹਰਦੋਅਜ਼ਾਮੇਦਿਹਦ॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਘੋੜੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਥੇ ਲਿਆ ਦੇਏਂ,
‘If you can fetch me both those horses,
ਵਜ਼ਾਪਸਤੁਰਾਖ਼ਾਨਹਬਾਨੂੰਕੁਨਦ॥੧੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ ॥੧੪॥
‘Then, after that, I will marry you.’(14)
ਸ਼ੁਨੀਦਈਂਸੁਖ਼ਨਰਾਹਮੀਸ਼ੁਦਰਵਾ॥
ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਲੜਕੀ ਚਲ ਪਈ
Harking to this, she set out on her journey,
ਬਿਯਾਮਦਬਸ਼ਹਰਸ਼ਾਹਹਿੰਦੋਸਤਾ॥੧੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੁਸਤਾਨ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਈ ॥੧੫॥
And came to a city in the country of Sher Shah.(15)
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤੰਦਬਰਰੋਦਜਮਨਾਲਬਆਬ॥
ਉਹ ਜਮਨਾ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਈ।
She took her position on the bank of (River) Jamuna.
ਬਿਬੁਰਦੰਦਬਾਦਹਖ਼ੁਰਦੰਦਕਬਾਬ॥੧੬॥
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਸ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਖਾਇਆ ॥੧੬॥
She brought with her wine (to drink) and (meat) kebab to eat.(16)
ਪਸੇਦੋਬਰਾਮਦਸ਼ਬੇਚੂੰਸਿਯਾਹ॥
ਜਦ ਕਾਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਪਹਿਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਗਏ
When it was pitch dark and the night was through two watches,
ਰਵਾਕਰਦਆਬਸਬਸੇਪੁਸ਼ਤਕਾਹ॥੧੭॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਘਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੭॥
She floated a number of bundles of fodder.(17)
ਬਦੀਦੰਦਓਰਾਬਸੇਪਾਸਬਾ॥
ਜਦ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਘਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੁੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
When the guards observed those bundles,
ਬਤੁੰਦੀਦਰਾਮਦਬਤਾਬਸ਼ਹੁਮਾ॥੧੮॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਚਮਕ ਪਏ ॥੧੮॥
They flew into rage.(18)
ਬਸੇਬਰਵੈਬੰਦੂਕਬਾਰਾਕੁਨਦ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੰਢਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਬੰਦੂਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਇਤਨੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਕੀਤੀ
They fired guns on them a few times,
ਚੁਬਾਬਰਕਅਬਰਸਬਹਾਰਾਕੁਨਦ॥੧੯॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੇ ਚਮਕਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੯॥
But they were getting engulfed with the drowsiness.(19)
ਹਮੀਵਜ਼ਹਕਰਦੰਦਦੁਸੇਚਾਰਬਾਰ॥
ਉਸ (ਲੜਕੀ) ਨੇ ਜਦ ਤਿੰਨ ਚਾਰ ਵਾਰ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ
She repeated the process for three or four times,
ਹਮਆਖ਼ਰਕੁਨਦਖ਼ਾਬਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਇਖ਼ਤੀਯਾਰ॥੨੦॥
ਤਾਂ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਨੀਂਦ ਆ ਜਾਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਸੌਂ ਗਏ ॥੨੦॥
And at the end they were overpowered by the sleep.
ਬਿਦਾਨਦਕਿਖ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਹਸ਼ਵਦਪਾਸਬਾ॥
ਲੜਕੀ ਨੇ ਸਮਝ ਲਿਆ ਕਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਸੌਂ ਗਏ ਹਨ
When she realised that the guards were slumbering,
ਬਪਯਮੁਰਦਸ਼ੁਦਹਮਚੁਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੇਯਲਾ॥੨੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਣ ਜਾਂ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਣ ॥੨੧॥
And they seemed like the injured soldiers,(21)
ਰਵਾਕਰਦਓਜਾਬਿਆਮਦਅਜ਼ਾ॥
ਉਹ ਉਥੋਂ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਜਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ,
She walked and reached the place,
ਕਿਬੁਨਗਾਹਅਜ਼ਸ਼ਾਹਕਰਖੇਗਿਰਾ॥੨੨॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਅਟਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਬੁਨੀਆਦ ਸੀ ॥੨੨॥
Where there originated the base of the mansion.(22)
ਘਰੀਰਾਬਿਕੋਬਦਘਰੀਯਾਘਰੀਯਾਰ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਘੜੀਆਲ ਵਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਘੜੀਆਲ ਨੂੰ ਵਜਾਉਂਦਾ
As the time-keeper hit the gong,
ਵਜ਼ਾਮੇਖਕੋਬਦਬਪੁਸ਼ਤੇਦਿਵਾਰ॥੨੩॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੀਵਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਕਿਲੀ ਠੋਕ ਦਿੰਦੀ ॥੨੩॥
She put the pegs in the wall.(23)
ਚੁਨਾਤਾਬਰਾਮਦਦਿਵਾਰੇਅਜ਼ੀਮ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਕਿਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ) ਉਹ ਵੱਡੀ ਦੀਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉਪਰ ਆ ਗਈ।
Climbing up the pegs, she reached the top of the building.
ਦੁਅਸਪਸ਼ਨਜ਼ਰਕਰਦਹੁਕਮੇਕਰੀਮ॥੨੪॥
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਘੋੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਲਏ ॥੨੪॥
With the blessings of God, she noticed both the horses.(24)
ਯਕੇਰਾਬਿਜ਼ਦਤਾਅਜ਼ੋਨੀਮਕਰਦ॥
ਇਕ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ (ਤਲਵਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ) ਅੱਧਾ ਅੱਧਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
She hit one guard and cut him into two,
ਦਰੇਪਾਸਬਾਨੇਬਰਅਜ਼ਨੀਮਕਰਦ॥੨੫॥
ਅਤੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ॥੨੫॥
Then at the door she destroyed two more.(25)
ਦਿਗ਼ਰਰਾਬਿਜ਼ਦਤਾਜੁਦਾਗਸ਼ਤਸਰ॥
ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ (ਤਲਵਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ) ਸਿਰ ਵਖਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
She met another one and cut his head off.
ਸਿਯਮਰਾਬਿਕੁਸ਼ਤਨਸ਼ਵਦਖ਼ੂੰਨਤਰ॥੨੬॥
ਤੀਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਨਾਲ ਲਥ ਪਥ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੨੬॥
She struck third one and made him to drench in blood.(26)
ਚੁਅਮਰਾਜੁਦਾਕਰਦਪੰਜਮਬਕੁਸ਼ਤ॥
ਚੌਥੇ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਵਖਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪੰਜਵੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
The fourth one was slashed and fifth decimated,
ਸ਼ਸ਼ਮਰਾਬਕੁਸ਼ਤੰਦਜਮਦਾਰਮੁਸ਼ਤ॥੨੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਛੇਵੇਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਜਮਧਾੜ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੭॥
The sixth became the victim of the handle of the dagger.(27)
ਸ਼ਸ਼ਮਚੌਕੀਅਸਕੁਸ਼ਤਆਮਦਅਜ਼ਾ॥
ਛੇਵੇਂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਆਈ
After killing the sixth one, she leaped forward,
ਕਿਹਫ਼ਤਸ਼ਗਿਰਾਬੁਦਚੌਕੀਗਿਰਾ॥੨੮॥
ਜਿਥੇ ਸੱਤਵਾਂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰ ਚੌਕੀ ਉਪਰ ਖੜੋਤਾ ਸੀ ॥੨੮॥
And wanted to slaughter the seventh one who was standing on the platform.(28)
ਕਿਹਫ਼ਤਮਹਮੀਕੁਸ਼ਤਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੇਅਜ਼ੀਮ॥
ਫਿਰ ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਚੌਕੀਦਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
She injured the seventh one badly,
ਕਿਦਸਤਸ਼ਕੁਨਦਰਖ਼ਸ਼ਹੁਕਮੇਕਰੀਮ॥੨੯॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਘੋੜੇ ਉਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਫੇਰਿਆ ॥੨੯॥
And then, with the blessing of God, stretched her hand towards the horse.(29)
ਚੁਨਾਤਾਜ਼ੀਆਨਹਬਿਜ਼ਦਤਾਜ਼ੀਅਸ਼॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਚਾਬਕ ਮਾਰੀ
She mounted the horse and hit him so hard,
ਕਿਬਾਲਾਬਿਯਾਮਦਬਜ਼ਮਨਅੰਦਰਸ਼॥੩੦॥
ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦੀਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਉਪਰੋਂ ਜਮਨਾ ਦਰਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਿਆ ॥੩੦॥
That it jumped over the wall and into the river Jamuna.(30)
