ਵਗਸ਼ਤਨਦਰਾਬੇਬਬੇਰੂੰਅਜ਼ਾ॥
ਘੋੜਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਘੁੰਮਦਾ-ਤਰਦਾ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
For long time, the horse paddled around in water,
ਕਿਹੈਰਤਬਿਮਾਦੰਦਸ਼ਾਹੇਜਹਾ॥੩੧॥
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੩੧॥
In the mean time the King of the Land came to know of the happening.(31)
ਕਿਦੰਦਾਖ਼ੁਰਦਦਸਤਅਜ਼ਸ਼ੇਰਸ਼ਾਹ॥
ਸ਼ੇਰ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੱਥ ਵਢੇ।
Sher Shah, the king, bit his hand (to ascertain that it was not a dream),
ਬਹੈਰਤਹਮੀਰਫ਼ਤਆਲਮਪਨਾਹ॥੩੨॥
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੇ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੩੨॥
And he was extremely put in predicament of the action.(32)
ਕਿਮਰਾਕੁਜ਼ਾਬੁਰਦਅਸਪੇਅਜ਼ੀਮ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ) ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਆਦਮੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
‘How has one taken my superb horse?
ਬਿਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦਓਹਮਚੁਕਸਮੇਕਰੀਮ॥੩੩॥
ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦੀ ਕਸਮ (ਜੇ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਜਾਏ) ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂ ॥੩੩॥
‘On God’s honour, I will pardon him, he pronounced,(33)
ਦਰੇਗ਼ਾਅਗਰਰੂਇਓਦੀਦਮੇ॥
ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਵੇਖ ਲਵਾਂ
‘If I see that person,
ਬਸਦਗੰਜਸਰਬਸਤਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦਮੇ॥੩੪॥
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਕੋ ਨਕ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸੌ ਥੈਲੀਆਂ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ॥੩੪॥
‘I will forgive him and endow him a treasure.(34)
ਕਿਹੈਫ਼ਸਤਗਰੋਦੀਦਏਯਾਫ਼ਤਮ॥
ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ, ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈਂਦਾ,
‘Strange enough, if I ever come across him,
ਬਜਾਏਦਿਗ਼ਰਦਿਲਨਜ਼ੋਤਾਫ਼ਤਮ॥੩੫॥
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਫੇਰਦਾ ॥੩੫॥
‘I will never fly into rage.(35)
ਕਿਦੀਦਾਰਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੰਦਅਗਰਓਮਰਾ॥
ਜੇ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੇਵੇ
‘If he comes voluntarily,
ਕਿਸਦਗੰਜਸਰਬਸਤਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਮਵਰਾ॥੩੬॥
ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸੌ ਥੈਲੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂ ॥੩੬॥
‘I will further give him one hundred bags full of coins.’(36)
ਚੁਸ਼ੁਹਰਤਕੁਨਾਨੀਦਸ਼ਹਰਅੰਦਰੂੰ॥
(ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ) ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਨਾਦੀ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ
Through out the city, it was proclaimed,
ਕਿਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਦਮਮਖ਼ੂੰਨਅਜ਼ਖ਼੍ਵਾਰਖ਼ੂੰ॥੩੭॥
ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਖ਼ੂਨਖ਼ਾਰ ਦਾ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ ॥੩੭॥
‘I will forgive that robber but he must come to see me at least once.’(37)
ਬਿਬਸਤੰਦਦਸਤਾਰਅਜ਼ਜਾਮਜ਼ਰ॥
(ਤਦ ਉਸ ਲੜਕੀ ਨੇ) ਪਗੜੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਨਹਿਰੀ ਰੰਗ ਦਾ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ।
Then the daughter of the tycoon, wearing golden turban,
ਬਪੇਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਹਆਮਦਚੁਜ਼ਰਰੀਸਿਪਰ॥੩੮॥
ਸੁਨਹਿਰੀ ਢਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੩੮॥
And holding a shinning shield, presented herself,(38)
ਬਗੋਯਦਕਿਸ਼ੇਰਅਫ਼ਕਨੋਸ਼ੇਰਸ਼ਾਹ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਐ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਸ਼ਾਹ!
And said, ‘Oh, Sher Shah, the killer of lions,
ਕਿਅਜ਼ਰਾਹਰਾਮਨਬਿਬੁਰਦੰਦਰਾਹ॥੩੯॥
ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ 'ਰਾਹੋ' ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਸਾਂ ॥੩੯॥
‘It is me who had taken your horse in a strange way.’(39)
ਅਜਬਮਾਦਸਾਹਿਬਖ਼ਿਰਦਈਂਜਵਾਬ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਬੁੱਧੀਮਾਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
Listening to her the intelligent king was astounded.
ਦਿਗ਼ਰਬਾਰਗੋਯਦਕਿਬਾਵੈਸਵਾਬ॥੪੦॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰ ਕਿਹਾ ॥੪੦॥
And once again rapidly asked,(40)
ਕਿਨਕਲਸਨੁਮਾਈਂਮਰਾਸ਼ੇਰਤਨ॥
ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਸੂਰਮੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਵਿਖਾ
‘Oh you the fast one, tell me how did you do it?
ਬਵਜਹੇਚਰਾਬੁਰਦਾਅਸਪੇਕੁਹਨ॥੪੧॥
ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਢ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਸੈਂ ॥੪੧॥
‘To show me, you come and replay.’(41)
ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤੰਦਅਜ਼ਾਵਜਹੇਬਰਰੋਦਆਬ॥
ਉਹ ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਈ
She sat down on the bank of river,
ਬਿਬੁਰਦੰਦਬਾਦਹਬਖ਼ੁਰਦਨਕਬਾਬ॥੪੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਪੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਮਾਸ ਖਾਇਆ ॥੪੨॥
And the same way she drank wine and ate kebob.(42)
ਰਵਾਕਰਦਅਵਲਬਸੇਪੁਸ਼ਤਕਾਹ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਘਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਡਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੋੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ
Then she floated the bundles of the grass,
ਦਗ਼ਾਮੇਦਿਹਦਪਾਸਬਾਨਾਨਸ਼ਾਹ॥੪੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧੋਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪੩॥
And this way deceived the king’s guards.(43)
ਵਜ਼ਾਪਸਬਕੋਸ਼ਸ਼ਕੁਨਾਨੀਦਲਖ਼ਤ॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਥੋੜੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਕੇ
To show her cleverness of going across the river,
ਬਪੈਰਸ਼ਦਰਾਮਦਜਿਦਰੀਯਾਇਸਖ਼ਤ॥੪੪॥
ਉਸ ਕਠਿਨ ਦਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੪੪॥
She swam over the rough water.(44)
ਵਜ਼ਾਬਿਸ਼ਕੁਨਾਨੀਦਓਗਿਰਦਸ਼ੁਦ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੌੜ ਗਈ।
She killed the first guard in a similar manner,
ਬਦੀਦਨਅਜ਼ੋਸ਼ਾਹਪਯਮੁਰਦਹਸ਼ੁਦ॥੪੫॥
ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਮੁਰਦੇ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ॥੪੫॥
And vanished like the dust.(45)
ਘੜੀਯਕਬਿਮਾਦੰਦਗ਼ਰੂਬਆਫ਼ਤਾਬ॥
ਸੂਰਜ ਦੇ ਡੁਬਣ ਵਿਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ,
When the sun was just set,
ਵਜ਼ਾਜਾਬਿਯਾਮਦਕੁਸ਼ਾਯਦਤਨਾਬ॥੪੬॥
ਉਹ ਉਥੇ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਸੀਆਂ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ॥੪੬॥
She came to the same place and untied the second horse.(46)
ਲਗ਼ਾਮਸ਼ਬਿਦਾਦੰਦਸ੍ਵਾਰੇਸ਼ੁਦਸਤ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ) ਲਗ਼ਾਮ ਪਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਸਵਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
After bridling, she mounted the horse,
ਬਿਜ਼ਦਤਾਜੀਆਂਨਹਚੁਅਫ਼ਰੀਤਮਸਤ॥੪੭॥
ਦੇਓ ਵਰਗੇ ਮਸਤ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚਾਬਕ ਮਾਰਿਆ ॥੪੭॥
And then she hit the satanic animal.(47)
ਚੁਨਾਅਸਪਖ਼ੋਜ਼ੀਦਬਰਤਰਜਿਸ਼ਾਹ॥
ਉਹ ਘੋੜਾ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਚਿਆਈ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਉਛਲਿਆ
The horse flew so high,
ਜ਼ਿਬਾਲਾਬਿਯਾਮਦਬਦਰੀਯਾਇਗਾਹ॥੪੮॥
ਅਤੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਪਿਆ ॥੪੮॥
That it glided over the head of the king and jumped into the river.(48)
ਬਪੈਰਸ਼ਦਰਾਮਦਜਿਦਰੀਯਾਅਜ਼ੀਮ॥
ਉਹ ਉਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਤਰ ਕੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਗਈ।
Swimming over the great river,
ਕਿਪਾਰਸਹਮੀਗਸ਼ਤਹੁਕਮੇਕਰੀਮ॥੪੯॥
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ (ਲੜਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜਾ) ਦਰਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ॥੪੯॥
With God’s blessings, the horse went across.(49)
ਫ਼ਰੋਦਆਮਦਸ਼ਅਸਪਕਰਦਸਸਲਾਮ॥
ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਘੋੜੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਮ ਕੀਤਾ
She dismounted, saluted the King,
ਬਿਗੋਯਦਸੁਖ਼ਨਸ਼ਾਹਿਅਰਬੀਕਲਾਮ॥੫੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਅਰਬੀ ਜ਼ਬਾਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ॥੫੦॥
And communicated aloud in Arabic.(50)
ਤੁਅਕਲਸ਼ਚਰਾਗਸ਼ਤਏਸ਼ਾਹਿਸ਼ਾਹ॥
ਐ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੇਰੀ ਅਕਲ ਕਿਥੇ ਗਈ ਹੈ
‘Oh, Sher Shah, why did you let your intelligent dispel.
ਕਿਮਾਰਾਹਬੁਰਦਨਤੁਦਾਦਨਸੁਰਾਹ॥੫੧॥
ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਰਾਹੋ ਘੋੜਾ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਸਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ 'ਸੁਰਾਹੋ' ਮੈਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੧॥
‘I had taken Rahu myself but now you, yourself, gave me Surahus.’(51)
ਕਿਗੁਫ਼ਤਸ਼ਚੁਨੀਤਾਰਵਾਕਰਦਰਖ਼ਸ਼॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਤੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ
Declaring thus she galloped the horse,
ਬਯਾਦਆਮਦੋਏਜ਼ਦੇਦਾਦਬਖ਼ਸ਼॥੫੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਰੱਬ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਆ ਗਿਆ ॥੫੨॥
And she thanked the Great Benevolent Almighty.(52)
ਬਿਅਫ਼ਤਾਦਪੁਸ਼ਤਅਸਪਹਾਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਕੜਨ ਲਈ) ਬੇਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਘੋੜ ਸਵਾਰ ਉਸ ਪਿਛੇ ਦੌੜਾਏ ਗਏ।
She was pursued by numerous horse-riders,
ਕਿਓਰਾਨਹਮਬਰਕੁਨਦਕਸਸ੍ਵਾਰ॥੫੩॥
ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਕੋਈ ਸਵਾਰ ਨਾ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕਿਆ ॥੫੩॥
But none could reach to catch her.(53)
ਬਿਜ਼ਦਮਰਦਦਾਸਤਾਰਹਾਪੇਸ਼ਸ਼ਾਹ॥
ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਪੱਗਾਂ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ (ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ)
All his warriors threw their turbans in front of the King,
ਕਿਏਸ਼ਾਹਸ਼ਾਹਾਨਆਲਮਪਨਾਹ॥੫੪॥
ਹੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ, ਹੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ! (ਤੁਸੀਂ) ਇਹ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੪॥
(And said,) ‘Oh, the King of the universe and the provider,(54)
