ਪੁਤ੍ਰਭਇਓਦੇਵਕੀਕੈਕੀਰਤਿਮਤਤਿਹਨਾਮੁ॥
ਦੇਵਕੀ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ 'ਕੀਰਤਿਮਤ' ਰਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਕੰਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ॥੪੫॥
The first son named Kiratmat was born to Devaki and Vasudev took him to the house of Kansa.45.

ਲੈਕਰਿਤਾਤਕੋਤਾਤਚਲਿਯੋਜਬਹੀਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੈਦਰਊਪਰਆਇਓ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪਿਉ ('ਤਾਤ') ਚਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੰਸ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰ ਉਤੇ ਆਇਆ,
ਜਾਇਕਹਿਯੋਦਰਵਾਨਨਸੋਤਿਨਬੋਲਿਕੈਭੀਤਰਜਾਇਜਨਾਇਓ॥
(ਤਦੋਂ) ਜਾ ਕੇ ਦਰਬਾਨ ਨੂੰ (ਸਾਰੀ ਗੱਲ) ਦਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ (ਕੰਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸੂਚਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When the father reached the gate of the palace, he asked the gatekeeper to inform Kansa about it
ਕੰਸਕਰੀਕਰੁਨਾਸਿਸੁਦੇਖਿਕਹਿਓਹਮਹੂੰਤੁਮਕੋਬਖਸਾਇਓ॥
(ਕੰਸ ਨੇ) ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਤਰਸ ਖਾਧਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਅਸਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ (ਇਹ ਬੱਚਾ) ਬਖਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਫੇਰਚਲਿਓਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੋਬਸੁਦੇਵਤਊਮਨਮੈਕਛੁਨਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਓ॥੪੬॥
(ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ) ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਆਇਆ। ਪਰ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪੬॥
Seeing the baby and taking pity Kansa said, “I have forgiven you.” Vasudev started back to his house, but there was no cheerfulness in his mind.46.

(ਕਿ) ਮੂਰਖ ਕੰਸ ਵੱਡੀ ਖੋਟੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟੇਗਾ ॥੪੭॥
Vasudev thought in his mind that Kansa was a man of vicious intellect, with fear, he will definitely kill the infant.47.
ਨਾਰਦਰਿਖਿਬਾਚਕੰਸਪ੍ਰਤਿ॥
ਨਾਰਦ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਨੇ ਕੰਸ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਿਹਾ:

(ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪਰਤਣ ਤੇ) ਤਦੋਂ (ਨਾਰਦ) ਮੁਨੀ ਕੰਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਇਆ (ਅਤੇ ਇਹ) ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੁਣੋ
ਅਸਟਲੀਕਕਰਕੈਗਨੀਦੀਨੋਭੇਦਬਤਾਇ॥੪੮॥
(ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਿਸਚਾ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਦਾ ਅੱਠਵਾਂ ਬੱਚਾ ਹੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੈ? ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਅੱਠ ਲੀਕਾਂ ਵਾਹ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਗਿਣੀਆਂ (ਕਿ ਹਰ ਲੀਕ ਅੱਠਵੀਂ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇ, ਇਹ) ਭੇਦ ਦਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੪੮॥
Then the sage Narada came to Kansa and drawing eight lines before him, he told him some mysterious things.48.

ਕੰਸ ਨੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਿਹਾ:

ਕੰਸ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਨਾਰਦ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਭਾ ਗਈ।
ਮਾਰਹੁਜਾਇਇਸੈਅਬਹੀਕਰਿਭ੍ਰਿਤਨਨੈਨਕੀਸੈਨਦਈਹੈ॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖ ਦਾ ਇਸ਼ਾਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਵੋ।
When the king listened to the speech of Narada, it went deeper into his mind he told his servants with signs to kill the infant immediately
ਦਉਰਿਗਏਤਿਹਆਇਸੁਮਾਨਕੈਬਾਤਇਹੈਚਲਿਲੋਗਗਈਹੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ (ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਕੋਲ) ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਲੋਕਾਂ (ਵਿਚ ਨਸ਼ਰ) ਹੋ ਗਈ।
ਪਾਥਰਪੈਹਨਿਕੈਘਨਜਿਉਬਪੁਜੀਵਹਿਤੇਕਰਿਭਿੰਨਲਈਹੈ॥੪੯॥
(ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ) ਪੱਥਰ ਉਥੇ ਹਥੌੜੇ ਵਾਂਗੂ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ, (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਦੇਹ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਖਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੪੯॥
Receiving his order all (the servants) ran away and they dashed the baby against a store like a hammer, separated the soul from the body.49.

ਅਉਰਭਯੋਸੁਤਜੋਤਿਹਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਿਤਉਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੰਸਮਹਾਮਤਿਹੀਨੋ॥
(ਜਦੋਂ) ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਹੋਰ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੀਣ ਮਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਸ ਨੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੇਵਕ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ) ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਸੇਵਕਭੇਜਦਏਤਿਨਲਿਆਇਕੈਪਾਥਰਪੈਹਨਿਕੈਫੁਨਿਦੀਨੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਪੱਥਰ ਉਤੇ ਪਟਕਾ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Another son who was born to Devaki and Vasudev, who was also killed on the orders of Kans of vicious intellenct, by his servants by dashing him on the store the dead body was given back to the parents
ਸੋਰਪਰਿਯੋਸਬਹੀਪੁਰਮੈਕਬਿਨੈਤਿਹਕੋਜਸੁਇਉਲਖਿਲੀਨੋ॥
(ਦੂਜੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਨਾਲ) ਸਾਰੀ ਮਥੁਰਾ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੌਲਾ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ। ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ
ਇੰਦ੍ਰਮੂਓਸੁਨਿਕੈਰਨਮੈਮਿਲਕੈਸੁਰਮੰਡਲਰੋਦਨਕੀਨੋ॥੫੦॥
(ਮਾਨੋ) ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਮੋਇਆ ਸੁਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ, ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਰੋਣਾ (ਸ਼ੁਰੂ) ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੫੦॥
Hearing about this heinous crime, there was great uproar in the whole city and this tumult appeared to the poet like the cries of gods on the death of Indra.50.
ਅਉਰਭਯੋਸੁਤਜੋਤਿਹਕੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਨਾਮਧਰਿਓਤਿਹਕੋਤਿਨਹੂੰਜੈ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਹੋਰ ਜੋ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ 'ਜੈ' ਰਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਮਾਰਦਯੋਸੁਨਿਕੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੰਸਸੁਪਾਥਰਪੈਹਨਿਡਾਰਿਓਖੂੰਜੈ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਕੰਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੱਥਰ ਉਤੇ ਪਟਕਵਾ ਕੇ ਮਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੂੰਜੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਟਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Another son was born in their house who was named Jaya, but he was also dashed against the stone by the king Kansa
ਸੀਸਕੇਬਾਰਉਖਾਰਤਦੇਵਕੀਰੋਦਨਚੋਰਨਤੈਘਰਿਗੂੰਜੈ॥
ਦੇਵਕੀ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ ਪੁੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਚਿਲਾਉਣ ('ਚੋਰਨ') ਨਾਲ ਘਰ (ਇਉਂ) ਗੂੰਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ,
ਜਿਉਰੁਤਿਅੰਤੁਬਸੰਤਸਮੈਨਭਿਕੋਜਿਮਜਾਤਪੁਕਾਰਤਕੂੰਜੈ॥੫੧॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁਤ ਦੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਕੂੰਜਾਂ ਕੁਰਲਾਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੫੧॥
Devaki began to pull out the hair of her head and began to cry like the bird called Karauncha in the sky in the spring season.51.
ਕਬਿਤੁ॥

ਚਉਥੋਪੁਤ੍ਰਭਇਓਸੋਭੀਕੰਸਮਾਰਦਇਓਤਿਹਸੋਕਬੜਵਾਕੀਲਾਟੈਮਨਮੈਜਗਤਹੈ॥
ਜੋ ਚੌਥਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਇਆ, ਉਹ ਵੀ ਕੰਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਗ ਦੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਾਟਾਂ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
The fourth son was born and he was also killed by Kansa the flames of sorrow blazed in the hearts of Devaki and Vasudev
ਪਰੀਹੈਗੀਦਾਸੀਮਹਾਮੋਹਹੂੰਕੀਫਾਸੀਬੀਚਗਈਮਿਟਸੋਭਾਪੈਉਦਾਸੀਹੀਪਗਤਹੈ॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੀ, ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! ਮੈਂ) ਤੇਰੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਂਸੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੀ ਪਈ ਹਾਂ, (ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਭ) ਸ਼ੋਭਾ ਮਿਟ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਛਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
All the beauty of Devaki was finished by the noose of great attachment around her neck and she was drowned in great anguish
ਕੈਧੋਤੁਮਨਾਥਹ੍ਵੈਸਨਾਥਹਮਹੂੰਪੈਹੂੰਜੈਪਤਿਕੀਨਗਤਿਔਰਤਨਕੀਨਗਤਿਹੈ॥
ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਾਥ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਨਾਥ ਕਰੋ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਨਾ ਕੋਈ ਪਤੀ ਦੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ (ਕੋਈ ਮੇਰੇ) ਤਨ ਦੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੈ।
She says, “O my God! what type of Lord Thou art and what type of protected people we are? We have neither received any honour nor have got any physical protection
ਭਈਉਪਹਾਸੀਦੇਹਪੂਤਨਬਿਨਾਸੀਅਬਿਨਾਸੀਤੇਰੀਹਾਸੀਨਹਮੈਗਾਸੀਸੀਲਗਤਹੈ॥੫੨॥
(ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੇਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋਣ ਤੇ ਹਾਸੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ! ਤੇਰੀ (ਇਹ) ਹਾਸੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤੀਰ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੫੨॥
Because of the death of our son, we are also being ridiculed, O Immortal Lord! such a cruel joke by you is sharply stinging us like an arrow.”52.

ਪਾਚਵੋਪੁਤ੍ਰਭਯੋਸੁਨਿਕੰਸਸੁਪਾਥਰਸੋਹਨਿਮਾਰਿਦਯੋਹੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਪੰਜਵਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਇਆ (ਤਦੋਂ) ਕੰਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਟਕਵਾ ਕੇ ਮਰਵਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸ੍ਵਾਸਗਯੋਨਭਿਕੇਮਗਮੈਤਨਤਾਕੋਕਿਧੌਜਮੁਨਾਮੈਗਯੋਹੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਆਕਾਸ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਕਿਤੇ ਜਮਨਾ ਵਿਚ (ਰੁੜ) ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Hearing about the birth of fifth son, Kansa also killed him by dashing him against the store the soul of the infant went to heaven and his body was merged in the flowing current
ਸੋਸੁਨਿਕੈਪੁਨਿਸ੍ਰੋਨਨਦੇਵਕੀਸੋਕਸੋਸਾਸਉਸਾਸਲਯੋਹੈ॥
(ਇਹ) ਖ਼ਬਰ ('ਸੋ') ਦੇਵਕੀ ਨੇ ਕੰਨੀ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਫਿਰ ਸੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਹ ਲਏ ਹਨ।
ਮੋਹਭਯੋਅਤਿਤਾਦਿਨਮੈਮਨੋਯਾਹੀਤੇਮੋਹਪ੍ਰਕਾਸਭਯੋਹੈ॥੫੩॥
ਉਸ ਦਿਨ (ਦੇਵਕੀ ਨੂੰ) ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਮੋਹ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਮਾਨੋ ਉਥੋਂ ਹੀ 'ਮੋਹ' ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੫੩॥
Hearing this, Devaki began to sigh and because of the attachment she experienced such a great anguish that she appeared to have given birth to the attachment itself.53.
ਦੇਵਕੀਬੇਨਤੀਬਾਚ॥

(ਬਸੁਦੇਵ ਦੇ) ਕੁਲ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਕੰਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ; ਤਾਂ ਦੇਵਕੀ ਨੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਹੇ ਭਗਵਾਨ! (ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ) ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਲਵੋ।
ਕੀਜੀਐਅਨਾਥਨਸਨਾਥਮੇਰੇਦੀਨਾਨਾਥਹਮੈਮਾਰਦੀਜੀਐਕਿਯਾਕੋਮਾਰਦੀਜੀਐ॥
ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ! ਸਨਾਥ ਤੋਂ ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ; ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓ ਜਾਂ ਇਸ (ਕੰਸ) ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓ।
When the sixth son was also killed by Kansa, Devaki prayed thus to God, “O Master of the lowly! either kill us or kill Kansa
ਕੰਸਬਡੋਪਾਪੀਜਾਕੋਲੋਭਭਯੋਜਾਪੀਸੋਈਕੀਜੀਐਹਮਾਰੀਦਸਾਜਾਤੇਸੁਖੀਜੀਜੀਐ॥
ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕੰਸ ਵੱਡਾ ਪਾਪੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਭ ਹੋਇਆ ਜਾਪਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੁਣ) ਸਾਡੀ ਉਹੀ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਕਰੋ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ (ਅਸੀਂ) ਸੁਖ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਜੀ ਸਕੀਏ।
