ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਿਓਂ ਗਿਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿਗਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਯਾਂ, ਜੇਕਰ ਪੌਣ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਲਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਸ ਕੰਮ ਅਰਥ ਭਾਵ ਪੌਣ ਦੇ ਚੰਚਲ ਫ੍ਰਾਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਕੁਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਸਿੱਧ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ਬਚਾਉ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕੇਗਾ।
Just as a person falling from the sky try to take support of the air, and that support is futile.
ਜਰਤਬੈਸੰਤਰਜਉਧਾਇਧਾਇਧੂਮਗਹੈਨਿਕਸਿਓਨਜਾਇਖਲਬੁਧਉਪਰਾਜਹੈ।
ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਸੜਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਜੇਕਰ ਦੌੜ ਦੌੜ ਕੇ ਧੂੰਏ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਨ ਖਾਤਰ ਫੜਨਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੁਧੀ ਦਾ ਉਪਰਾਜ ਉਪਜੌਣਾ ਦਿਖੌਣਾ ਹੈ, ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਤਾਂ ਮੂਰਖਤਾ ਦਾ ਨਮੂੰਨਾ ਹੈ।
Just as a person ablaze in the fire tries to escape from its wrath by catching smoke, he cannot escape from the fire. On the contrary it only shows his foolishness.
ਸਾਗਰਅਪਾਰਧਾਰਬੂਡਤਜਉਫੇਨਗਹੈਅਨਿਥਾਬੀਚਾਰਪਾਰਜੈਬੇਕੋਨਸਾਜਹੈ।
ਅਪਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਰੋੜ੍ਹ ਵਿਚ ਡੁਬਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਜੇਕਰ ਫੇਨੁ ਝੱਗ ਨੂੰ ਫੜੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਮਤਾਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ ਇਹ ਪਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਾਜਨਾ ਵ੍ਯੋਂਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਅਨ੍ਯਥਾ ਉਲਟੀ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਡੁੱਬਣ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਹੈ।
Just as a person drowning in the rapid waves of the sea try to save himself catching the surf of the water, such a thought is totally foolish since the surf is not a means of crossing the sea.
ਤੈਸੇਆਵਾਗਵਨਦੁਖਤਆਨਦੇਵਸੇਵਬਿਨੁਗੁਰਸਰਨਿਨਮੋਖਪਦੁਰਾਜਹੈ।੪੭੩।
ਤਿਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਆਵਾ ਗੌਣ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੋਂ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਨ ਹੈ ਕ੍ਯੋਂਕਿ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੋਖ ਪਦਵੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣ ਤੋਂ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ਕਦਾ ਚਿਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ॥੪੭੩॥
Similarly, the cycle of birth and death cannot end by worshipping or serving any god or goddess. Without taking the refuge of the perfect True Guru, no one can achieve salvation. (473)
