ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਫਲ ਫੁੱਲ ਆਦਿ ਦੀ ਭੇਟਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਬਨ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਪਾਸ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਭੇਟਾ ਅਰਪ ਕੇ ਕਰੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਫਲ ਫੁਲ ਅਰਪਣ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਦੱਸੋ ਇਹ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਫੱਬ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
Just as someone takes a handful of fruits and flowers to present it to the king of the jungle where fruits and flowers abound, and then feels proud of his present, how can he be liked?
ਜੈਸੇਮੁਕਤਾਹਲਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਹਿਦਿਖਾਵੈਜਾਇਬਾਰਬਾਰਹੀਸਰਾਹੈਸੋਭਾਤਉਨਪਾਵੈਜੀ।
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰ ਪਾਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਓਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਮੋਤੀ ਨਜਰਾਨੇ ਤਰਾਂ ਦਿਖਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਓਸ ਮੋਤੀ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹੁਤਾ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ।
Just as someone takes a handful of pearls to the treasure house of pearls-ocean, and praises his pearls again and again, he does not earn any appreciation.
ਜੈਸੇਕਨੀਕੰਚਨਸੁਮੇਰਸਨਮੁਖਰਾਖਿਮਨਮੈਗਰਬੁਕਰੈਬਾਵਰੋਕਹਾਵੈਜੀ।
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਕਣੀ ਅਰੈਣੀ ਸੁਮੇਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਮਨੇ ਜਾ ਭੇਟਾ ਰਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਭੇਟਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਾਵਰਾ ਸੁਦਾਈ ਕਮਲਾ ਹੀ ਅਖਵਾਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Just as someone presents a small piece of gold nugget to Sumer mountain (the home of gold) and feels proud of his gold, he would be called a fool.
ਤੈਸੇਗਿਆਨਧਿਆਨਠਾਨਪ੍ਰਾਨਦੈਰੀਝਾਇਓਚਾਹੈਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਕੈਸੇਕੈਰੀਝਾਵੈਜੀ।੫੧੦।
ਤਿਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਠਾਨਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਖਾਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਪ ਕੇ, ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਝਾਨਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਪਤੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਹੋ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਝਾ ਸਕੇ ॥੫੧੦॥
Similarly if someone talks of knowledge and contemplations and pretends to surrender himself with a view to please and entice the True Guru, he cannot succeed in his nefarious designs of pleasing the True Guru the master of all life. (510)
