ਜੈਸੇਜਨਮਤਕੰਨ੍ਯਾਦੀਜੀਐਦਹੇਜਘਨੋਤਾਕੇਸੁਤਆਗੈਬ੍ਯਾਹੇਬਹੁਪੁਨਲੀਜੀਐ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧੀ ਜੰਮਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਸਮੇਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦਾਜ ਦੇਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਦ ਅਗੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰੀਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਦਾਜ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
Just as in the marriage of daughter born in a house, much dowry is given. And when her sons are married, much dowry is received from their in-laws house;
ਜੈਸੇਦਾਮਲਾਈਅਤਪ੍ਰਥਮਬਨਜਬਿਖੈਪਾਛੈਲਾਭਹੋਤਮਨਸਕੁਚਨਕੀਜੀਐ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਹਿਲੋਂ ਵਣਜ ਵਪਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਪਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਖਰਚੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਪਿਛੋਂ ਨਫਾ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੀਦਾ।
Just as one spends money from one's pocket at the time of commencement of a business and then to earn profit, one should not hesitate to ask enhanced price;
ਜੈਸੇਗਊਸੇਵਾਕੈਸਹੇਤਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੀਅਤਸਕਲਅਖਾਦਵਾਕੋਦੂਧਦੁਹਿਪੀਜੀਐ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਗਊ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਲੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਾ ਖਾਣ ਯੋਗ ਹਨ ਭਾਵ ਘਾਹ ਛੂੜੀ ਆਦਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਰਗਾ ਦੁੱਧ ਚੋ ਕੇ ਪੀਵੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
Just as a cow is reared with love and care, she is served fodder and other items not eaten by human beings, and she yields milk that is drunk.
ਤੈਸੇਤਨਮਨਧਨਅਰਪਸਰਨਗੁਰਦੀਖ੍ਯਾਦਾਨਲੈਅਮਰਸਦਸਦਜੀਜੀਐ।੫੮੪।
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਤਨ ਮਨ ਧਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰ ਦਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਜੀ ਉਠੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੮੪॥
Similarly, falling in the refuge of the True Guru, one surrenders all (body, mind and wealth) to Him. Then obtaining the incantation of Naam from the True Guru, one achieves emancipation and is freed from repeated deaths and births. (584)
