ਜੈਸੇਲਾਖਕੋਰਿਲਿਖਤਨਕਨਭਾਰਲਾਗੈਜਾਨਤਸੁਸ੍ਰਮਹੋਇਜਾਕੈਗਨਰਾਖੀਐ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਉਤੇ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਕਮ ਲਿਖਕੇ ਚੁੱਕੀਏ ਤਾਂਉਸਦਾ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਭੀ ਭਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ, ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਰਕਮ ਗਿਣਕੇ ਰੱਖ ਦੇਈਏ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿੰਨੀ ਕੁ ਖੇਚਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
Just as writing figures representing millions and billions amount involve no burden at all, but if that much money is counted and placed on someone's head, he alone knows the burden he is carrying.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਕਹੈਪਾਈਐਨਅਮਰਪਦਜੌਲੌਜਿਹ੍ਵਾਕੈਸੁਰਸਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਨਚਾਖੀਐ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਆਖਿਆਂ ਅਮਰ ਪਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਜਦ ਤਕ ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਰਸ ਨਾ ਚੱਖੀਏ।
Just as repeatedly saying Amrit, Amrit does not bestow one with liberation unless the supreme elixir is tasted.
ਬੰਦੀਜਨਕੀਅਸੀਸਭੂਪਤਿਨਹੋਇਕੋਊਸਿੰਘਾਸਨਬੈਠੇਜੈਸੇਚਕ੍ਰਵੈਨਭਾਖੀਐ।
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੱਟ ਦੀ ਅਸੀਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਦ ਤਕ ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਗੱਦੀ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਚਕ੍ਰਵਰਤੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਾਉਂਦਾ।
Just as praises showered by a Bhatt (bard) does not make a person a king unless he sits on the throne and become known as a king with vast empire.
ਤੈਸੇਲਿਖੇਸੁਨੇਕਹੇਪਾਈਐਨਾਗੁਰਮਤਿਜੌਲੌਗੁਰਸਬਦਕੀਸੁਜੁਕਤਨਲਾਖੀਐ।੫੮੫।
ਤਿਵੇਂ ਲਿਖਣ, ਸੁਣਨ ਤੇਕਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ, ਜਦਤਕ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਨਾ ਲਖ ਲਈਏ ॥੫੮੫॥
Similarly, one cannot obtain the wisdom of True Guru by just hearing or saying unless the skill of practicing devotedly the Gurus' words obtained from the True Guru is known. (585)
