ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਗਦੇ ਦੀਵੇ ਉਪਰ ਪਤੰਗਾ ਲੋਟ ਪੋਟ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਲਾਟ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸੜ ਭੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੰਛੀ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਚੋਗ ਚੁਗਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲ੍ਹਣੇ ਚਿ ਉਡ ਕੇ ਕੇ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾਹੈ ਪਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਿਨ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਮੁੜਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ।
Just as a bird picks grains and worms the whole day and return to his nest as the sun sets, but some day, it is caught in the net of a bird catcher and does not return to its nest.

ਤਿਵੇਂ ਚਿਤ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਪਾਠ ਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਮਗਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਸਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੯੦॥
