ਸੋਰਠਿਮਹਲਾ੯॥
Sorat'h, Ninth Mahalaa:
सोरठि महला ९ ॥
ਮਾਈਮਨੁਮੇਰੋਬਸਿਨਾਹਿ॥
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ।
O mother, my mind is out of control.
माई मनु मेरो बसि नाहि ॥
ਨਿਸਿਬਾਸੁਰਬਿਖਿਅਨਕਉਧਾਵਤਕਿਹਬਿਧਿਰੋਕਉਤਾਹਿ॥੧॥ਰਹਾਉ॥
ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਦੌੜਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਕਾਂ? ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Night and day, it runs after sin and corruption. How can I restrain it? ||1||Pause||
निसि बासुर बिखिअन कउ धावत किह बिधि रोकउ ताहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
ਬੇਦਪੁਰਾਨਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿਕੇਮਤਸੁਨਿਨਿਮਖਨਹੀਏਬਸਾਵੈ॥
ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਵੇਦਾਂ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਭੀ) ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਸਮੇ ਲਈ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਸਾਂਦਾ।
He listens to the teachings of the Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees, but he does not enshrine them in his heart, even for an instant.
बेद पुरान सिंम्रिति के मत सुनि निमख न हीए बसावै ॥
ਪਰਧਨਪਰਦਾਰਾਸਿਉਰਚਿਓਬਿਰਥਾਜਨਮੁਸਿਰਾਵੈ॥੧॥
ਪਰਾਏ ਧਨ, ਪਰਾਈ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣਾ) ਜਨਮ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
Engrossed in the wealth and women of others, his life passes away uselessly. ||1||
पर धन पर दारा सिउ रचिओ बिरथा जनमु सिरावै ॥१॥
ਮਦਿਮਾਇਆਕੈਭਇਓਬਾਵਰੋਸੂਝਤਨਹਕਛੁਗਿਆਨਾ॥
ਜੀਵ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਝੱਲਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ।
He has gone insane with the wine of Maya, and does not understand even a bit of spiritual wisdom.
मदि माइआ कै भइओ बावरो सूझत नह कछु गिआना ॥
ਘਟਹੀਭੀਤਰਿਬਸਤਨਿਰੰਜਨੁਤਾਕੋਮਰਮੁਨਜਾਨਾ॥੨॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਦ ਇਹ ਜੀਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ ॥੨॥
Deep within his heart, the Immaculate Lord dwells, but he does not know this secret. ||2||
घट ही भीतरि बसत निरंजनु ता को मरमु न जाना ॥२॥
ਜਬਹੀਸਰਨਿਸਾਧਕੀਆਇਓਦੁਰਮਤਿਸਗਲਬਿਨਾਸੀ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੋਝੀ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
When I came to the Sanctuary of the Holy Saints, all my evil-mindedness was dispelled.
जब ही सरनि साध की आइओ दुरमति सगल बिनासी ॥
ਤਬਨਾਨਕਚੇਤਿਓਚਿੰਤਾਮਨਿਕਾਟੀਜਮਕੀਫਾਸੀ॥੩॥੭॥
ਤਦੋਂ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਨੋ-ਕਾਮਨਾ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਜਮ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ (ਭੀ) ਕੱਟੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੩॥੭॥
Then, O Nanak, I remembered the Chintaamani, the jewel which fulfills all desires, and the noose of Death was snapped. ||3||7||
तब नानक चेतिओ चिंतामनि काटी जम की फासी ॥३॥७॥
