ਨਾਰਾਇਣਨਿਜਰੂਪੁਧਰਿਨਾਥਾਨਾਥਸਨਾਥਕਰਾਇਆ।
ਨਾਰਾਯਣ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਕੇ ਨਾਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰਿਤਾਰਥ ਕਰਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
Narayan, the lord of the destitutes, assuming forms has established mastery over all.
ਨਰਪਤਿਨਰਹਨਰਿੰਦੁਹੈਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਿਆਕਾਰੁਬਣਾਇਆ।
ਜੋ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਅਰ ਰਾਜਿਆ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਕਾਰ ਬਨਾਯਾ ਹੈ।
He is the formless king of all men and kings who created various forms.
ਕਰਤਾਪੁਰਖੁਵਖਾਣੀਐਕਾਰਣੁਕਰਣੁਬਿਰਦੁਬਿਰਦਾਇਆ।
ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਾਰਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਰਨਹਾਰਾ ਵੱਡੇ ਬਿਰਦ (ਧਰਮ) ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
As is creator of all the causes He is true to His reputation.
ਦੇਵੀਦੇਵਦੇਵਾਧਿਦੇਵਅਲਖਅਭੇਵਨਅਲਖੁਲਖਾਇਆ।
ਦੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ ਦੇਵ ਅਲਖ ਤੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਸੇ) ਨਾਂ ਲਖੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੁੰ ਭੀ (ਉਸ ਅਲਖ ਨੇ ਨਿਜ ਨੂੰ) ਨਹੀਂ ਲਖਾਇਆ।
Gods and goddesses also could not know the extent of that Lord, the imperceptible and beyond all mysteries.
ਸਤਿਰੂਪੁਸਤਿਨਾਮੁਕਰਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਨਾਨਕਦੇਉਜਪਾਇਆ।
ਸਤਿ ਸਰੂਪ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਸਤਿਨਾਮ (ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼) ਦੇਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਉ ਨੇ ਜਪਾਇਆ।

ਧਰਮਸਾਲਕਰਤਾਰਪੁਰੁਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਚਖੰਡੁਵਸਾਇਆ।
ਧਰਮਸਾਲਾ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਪੁਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਰੂਪੀ ਸਚਖੰਡ ਵਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਸੁਣਾਇਆ।੧।
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ (ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੱਸਕੇ) ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਬਦ ਦਾ (ਉਪਦੇਸ਼) ਸੁਣਾਇਆ। (ਯਥਾ:- “ਅਬ ਕਲੂ ਆਇਓ ਰੇ॥ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੇਵਹੁ॥ ਅਨ ਰੂਤਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਾਹੀ॥ ਮਤੁ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਭੂਲਹੁ॥” ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਇਕ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਜਪ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ)।
Word Wahiguru was imparted (by Guru Nanak) to the people.

ਨਿਹਚਲਨੀਉਧਰਾਈਓਨੁਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਚਖੰਡਸਮੇਉ।
ਅਟਲ ਨੀਵ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਰੂਪੀ ਸਚੇ ਖੰਡ ਦੀ ਭਲਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਨਿਸ਼ਚੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਾਈ।
The steadfast foundation of the abode of truth in the form of holy congregation was laid thoughtfully (by Guru Na-nak Dev)
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਪੰਥੁਚਲਾਇਓਨੁਸੁਖਸਾਗਰੁਬੇਅੰਤੁਅਮੇਉ।
ਅਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੰਥ ਤੋਰਿਆ (ਉਹ ਪੰਥ) ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਿਣਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।
And he promulgated gurmukh-panth (Sikhism) which is ocean of infinite pleasures.
ਸਚਿਸਬਦਿਆਰਾਧੀਐਅਗਮਅਗੋਚਰੁਅਲਖਅਭੇਉ।
ਉਥੇ ਸਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਓਹ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ) ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਭੇਵ ਹੈ।
There, true word is practised which is unapproachable, imperceptible and mystical.
ਚਹੁਵਰਨਾਂਉਪਦੇਸਦਾਛਿਅਦਰਸਨਸਭਿਸੇਵਕਸੇਉ।
ਚਹੁੰ ਵਰਣਾਂ, ਛੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ, ਸੇਵਕ ਅਰ ਸੇਵਯ (ਭਾਵ ਛੋਟੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਸਭ) ਨੂੰ ਉਪੇਦਸ਼ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
That abode of truth preaches to all the four varnas and all the six philosophies (of Indian origin) remain absorbed in its service.
ਮਿਠਾਬੋਲਣੁਨਿਵਚਲਣੁਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਭਾਉਭਗਤਿਅਰਥੇਉ।
ਮਿੱਠਣ ਬੋਲਣਾ, ਨਿਵਕੇ ਚਲਣਾ, (ਤੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤ ਅਰਥੀਏ ਹੋਣਾ (ਏਹ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ (ਦੇ ਲੱਛਣ ਹਨ), (ਭਾਵ ਸਦਾ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਅਨਿੰਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਰਖਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Gurmukhs (there) speak sweetly, move humbly and are seekers of devotion.
ਆਦਿਪੁਰਖੁਆਦੇਸੁਹੈਅਬਿਨਾਸੀਅਤਿਅਛਲਅਛੇਉ।
ਆਦ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਗਤੀ ਅਛਲ ਅਤੇ ਅਛੇਦ ਹੈ।
Salutations are due to that primal Lord who is undestructible, undeceivable and unending.
ਜਗਤੁਗੁਰੂਗੁਰੁਨਾਨਕਦੇਉ।੨।
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਹਨ। ਯਥਾ:- “ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਸਉਪੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਲੇਖਾ, ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਲਇਆ॥”)
Guru Nanak is the enlightener (Guru) of the entire world.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਸਚਾਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੁਅਥਾਹੁਸਹਾਬਾ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ) ਸੱਚਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਅਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
The true Guru is the carefree emperor, unfathomable and full of all qualities of a master.
ਨਾਉਗਰੀਬਨਿਵਾਜੁਹੈਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜਨਮੋਹੁਮੁਹਾਬਾ।
(ਇੱਡਾ ਹੋਕੇ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਹੈ (ਗਰੀਬਾਂ ਪੁਰ ਦਯਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਆਪ ਮੁਥਾਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਹੈ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਭਯ ਹੈ।
His name is cherisher of the poor; neither He has attachment with any one nor He is dependent on anybody.
ਬੇਸੁਮਾਰਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁਹੈਅਲਖਅਪਾਰੁਸਲਾਹਸਿਞਾਬਾ।
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਬੇਅੰਤ, ਅਲੱਖ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ) ਅੱਲਾਹ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੁੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਹੀ) ਸਿਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
Formless, infinite and impeceptible, He is having all the attributes which deseve eulogization
ਕਾਇਮੁਦਾਇਮੁਸਾਹਿਬੀਹਾਜਰੁਨਾਜਰੁਵੇਦਕਿਤਾਬਾ।
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਹਾਜ਼ਰ (ਨਾਲ ਨੇਹੁੰ ਹੈ ਜੋ) ਵੇਦ ਕਤੇਬਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ('ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਹਭਾਹੂੰ ਬਾਹਰਾ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਜਾਹਰਾ')।
The mastery of the true Guru is eternal because all the always present before Him (for His praises).
ਅਗਮੁਅਡੋਲੁਅਤੋਲੁਹੈਤੋਲਣਹਾਰੁਨਡੰਡੀਛਾਬਾ।
(ਫੇਰ ਉਹ) ਅਗੰਮ ਅਡੋਲ ਤੇ ਅਤੋਲ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਡੰਡੀ ਤੇ ਛਾਬਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਤੋਲੀਏ।
The true Guru is beyond all measuses; He cannot be weighed on any scale.
ਇਕੁਛਤਿਰਾਜੁਕਮਾਂਵਦਾਦੁਸਮਣੁਦੂਤੁਨਸੋਰਸਰਾਬਾ।
('ਇਕਛੱਤ' ਕਹੀਏ) ਏਕ ਛੱਤ੍ਰ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਵੈਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬਾ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਡੰਡਰੌਲਾ) ਪਾਕੇ (ਰੱਯਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਖ ਦੇਵੇ)।
Uniform is His kingdom wherein there is no enemy, no friend and no noisy clamour
ਆਦਲੁਅਦਲੁਚਲਾਇਦਾਜਾਲਮੁਜੁਲਮੁਨਜੋਰਜਰਾਬਾ।
ਆਪ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ) ਨਿਆਈ ਹਨ, ਪੂਰਾ ਨਯਾਇ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ, (ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ) ਜੋਰ ਤੇ 'ਜ਼ਰਾਬਾ' (ਕਸ਼ਟ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ।
The true Guru is judicious; dispenses justice and in His kingdom no atrocity and tyranny is exacted.
ਜਾਹਰਪੀਰਜਗਤੁਗੁਰੁਬਾਬਾ।੩।
ਬਾਬਾ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪੀਰ (ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਕੇ) ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੈ (ਯਾ ਜ਼ਾਹਰਾ ਪੀਰ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਬਾ ਹੀ ਹੈ)।
Such a grand Guru (Ndnak) is the manifest spiritual teacher of the whole world.

ਗੰਗਬਨਾਰਸਹਿੰਦੂਆਂਮੁਸਲਮਾਣਾਂਮਕਾਕਾਬਾ।
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਲੋਕ ਗੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ (ਥੋਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ) ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਲੋਕ ਮੱਕੇ ਕਾਹਬੇ (ਤੇ ਮਦੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼੍ਯਾਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Hindus adore Ganges and Banaras and Muslims consider Mecca-Kaba as a holy place.But to the accompaniment of mradarig (drum) and rabad (stringed instrument) the praises (of Baba Nanak) are sung
ਘਰਿਘਰਿਬਾਬਾਗਾਵੀਐਵਜਨਿਤਾਲਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗੁਰਬਾਬਾ।
ਬਾਬੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਜਸ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੈ, ਤਾਲ ਕੈਂਸੀਆਂ, ਜੋੜੀਆਂ (ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ ਤੇ) ਰਬਾਬ (ਕੀਰਤਨ ਵਿਚ) ਪਏ ਵਜਦੇ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੱਸੀ ਹੈ)।
Lover of the devotees, he has come to uplift the down trodden ones.
ਭਗਤਿਵਛਲੁਹੋਇਆਇਆਪਤਿਤਉਧਾਰਣੁਅਜਬੁਅਜਾਬਾ।
ਭਗਤ ਵੱਛਲ ਹੋਕੇ (ਸਚਖੰਡ ਤੋਂ) ਆਇਆ ਹੈ, ਪਾਪੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਧਾਰ ਕਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅਚਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਅਚਰਜ ਹੈ (ਕਿ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸ਼ਿਰੋਮਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹੈ ਅਰ ਫੇਰ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ਹੈ)।
He himfelf is wonderful (because in spite of his powers he is egoless).
ਚਾਰਿਵਰਨਇਕਵਰਨਹੋਇਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਮਿਲਿਹੋਇਤਰਾਬਾ।
(ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ) ਚਾਰ ਵਰਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਇਕ ਵਰਣ ਦੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ (ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਕੇ) ਤਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
By his efforts all the four varnas have become one and now the individual gets liberated in the holy congregatio
ਚੰਦਨੁਵਾਸੁਵਣਾਸਪਤਿਅਵਲਿਦੋਮਨਸੇਮਖਰਾਬਾ।
(ਜਿਕੂੰ) ਚੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਣਾਸਪਤੀ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਅੱਵਲ ਦੋਮ ਸੋਮ (ਤੀਜੇ ਦਰਜੇ) ਦੀ ਖਰਾਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ (ਭਾਵ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ), (ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ “ਦੋਮ ਨ ਸੇਮ ਏਕ ਸੋ ਆਹੀ” ਅਰਥਾਤ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, ਇਕ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਹ
Like the fragrant of sandal, he without any discrimination makes every one fragrant.
ਹੁਕਮੈਅੰਦਰਿਸਭਕੋਕੁਦਰਤਿਕਿਸਦੀਕਰੈਜਵਾਬਾ।
ਸਭ ਕੋਈ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ) ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਵਾਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਅਗੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦੇ ਸੱਕੇ?
All act as ordained by him and no one has the power to say no to him.
ਜਾਹਰਪੀਰੁਜਗਤੁਗੁਰਬਾਬਾ।੪।
ਜ਼ਾਹਰਾ ਪੀਰ (ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ, ਅਰ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰੂ, ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਬੀ ਗੁਰੂ)।

ਅੰਗਹੁਅੰਗੁਉਪਾਇਓਨੁਗੰਗਹੁਜਾਣੁਤਰੰਗੁਉਠਾਇਆ।
(ਬਾਬੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਉਤਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ (ਮਾਨੋਂ) ਗੰਗਾ ਥੋਂ ਤਰੰਗ ਉਠਾਇਆ।
Guru Nanak created him ( Guru Angad) from his limbs as the waves are produced by Ganges out of itself.
ਗਹਿਰਗੰਭੀਰੁਗਹੀਰੁਗੁਣੁਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਗੁਰੁਗੋਬਿੰਦੁਸਦਾਇਆ।
ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰ (ਡੂੰਘੇ ਤੇ ਡੂੰਘਾ) ਗਹਿਰੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਹੀ ਸੱਦਿਆ।
Embodied with deep and sublime attributes he (Angad) was known by gurmukhs as the form of the (imperceptible) supreme soul (paramatman).
ਦੁਖਸੁਖਦਾਤਾਦੇਣਿਹਾਰੁਦੁਖਸੁਖਸਮਸਰਿਲੇਪੁਨਲਾਇਆ।
ਦੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੀ ਦਾਤਾ ਅਰ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੀ ਦੇਣਹਾਰ (ਓਹੀ ਹੈ); ਦੁਖ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ('ਲੇਪ') ਦਾਗ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦਾ।
He himself is bestower of pleasures and pains but remains always without any blot.
ਗੁਰਚੇਲਾਚੇਲਾਗੁਰੂਗੁਰੁਚੇਲੇਪਰਚਾਪਰਚਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ) ਚੇਲੇ (ਅੰਗਦ) ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ('ਪਰਚਾ') ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਚੇਲਾ ਅਰ ਚੇਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।
The love between the Guru and the disciple was such that the disciple became Guru and the Guru disciple.
ਬਿਰਖਹੁਫਲੁਫਲਤੇਬਿਰਖੁਪਿਉਪੁਤਹੁਪੁਤੁਪਿਉਪਤੀਆਇਆ।
(ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ) ਬ੍ਰਿਖੋਂ ਫਲ ਤੇ ਫਲੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ, ਪਿਉ ਪੁਤ ਥੋਂ (ਪਤੀਜਿਆ) ਤੇ ਪੁਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਪੁਰ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ।
It happened in the same manner as tree creates fruit and from fruit is created tree, or as father becomes happy over son and son feels happy in obeying the orders of father.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਪੂਰਨੁਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਸਬਦੁਸੁਰਤਿਲਿਵਅਲਖਲਖਾਇਆ।
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਗਾਕੇ ਅਲਖ ਲਖਾ ਦਿਤਾ।
His consiconsness merged into word and the perfect transcendental Brahm made him see the imperceptible (Lord).
ਬਾਬਾਣੇਗੁਰਅੰਗਦਆਇਆ।੫।
(ਐਉਂ) ਬਾਬੇ ਦੇ (ਘਰ) ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਆਇਆ, ਭਾਵ ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਇਆ)।
Now Guru Angad got established as ( the extended form of) Baba Nanak.
ਪਉੜੀ੬
ਪਾਰਸੁਹੋਆਪਾਰਸਹੁਸਤਿਗੁਰਪਰਚੇਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਕਹਣਾ।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ) ਪਾਰਸ ਥੋਂ (ਲਹਿਣਾ) ਪਾਰਸ ਹੋਯਾ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਲਾਕੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਹਾਇਆ।
Meeting paras (the philosopher's stone Guru Nanak) Guru Angad became paras himself and because of his love for the Guru he was called the true Guru.
ਚੰਦਨੁਹੋਇਆਚੰਦਨਹੁਗੁਰਉਪਦੇਸਰਹਤਵਿਚਿਰਹਣਾ।
ਚੰਦਨ ਥੋਂ ਚੰਦਨ ਹੋਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ।
Living according to the preachings and code of conduct laid down by the Guru, he became sandal by meeting the sandal (Guru Nanak).
ਜੋਤਿਸਮਾਣੀਜੋਤਿਵਿਚਿਗੁਰਮਤਿਸੁਖੁਦੁਰਮਤਿਦੁਖਦਹਣਾ।
ਜੋਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾ ਗਈ ਗੁਰਮਤ ਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਨੇ ਦੁਰਮਤ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ (ਵਾਲੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਪਾ ਦਿਤੀ। ਭਾਵ ਦੋ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਕ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੱਥਰ ਪੂਜਾ ਆਦਿ ਹਟ ਗਈ। ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਜੋ ਵਧੀਕ ਯੋਗ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਦੁਰਮਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਸੀ ਉਹੋ ਤਾਕਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਨੂੰ ਹੋ
The light immersed in the light; the delight of the wisdom of Guru (gurmat) was attained and the sufferings of evil mindedness got burnt and wiped out.
ਅਚਰਜਨੋਅਚਰਜੁਮਿਲੈਵਿਸਮਾਦੈਵਿਸਮਾਦੁਸਮਹਣਾ।
ਅਚਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਰਜ ਮਿਲਿਆ, ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਵਿਖ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਸਮਾਇਆ। (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ ਜੋ ਆਪ ਬੀ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹੀ ਸੇ, ਅਰ ਜਾਣਕੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਖੇ ਗਏ ਸੇ ਕਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਰਹਿਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਣ, ਤਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਵੱਲ ਆਵੇ, ਉਹ ਭੇਤ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ ਬੀ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਸੇ; ਅ
The wonder met the wonder and becoming wondrous got imbued with the wonder (Guru Nanak).
ਅਪਿਉਪੀਅਣਨਿਝਰੁਝਰਣੁਅਜਰੁਜਰਣੁਅਸਹੀਅਣੁਸਹਣਾ।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪੀਣ, (ਕਿਕੂੰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਨਾਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ) ਝਰਣੇ ਵਹਿ ਤੁਰੇ। ਅਜਰ ਨੂੰ (ਫੇਰ) ਜਰਨ, ਨਾ ਸਹੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਦਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਉਹੋ ਰੂਪ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਹਿਣ (ਭਾਵ ਸਮਾਉਣ)।
After quaffing the nectar the fountain of joy emerges to flew and then the power of bearing the unbearable is obtained
ਸਚੁਸਮਾਣਾਸਚੁਵਿਚਿਗਾਡੀਰਾਹੁਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਵਹਣਾ।
(ਫੇਰ ਉਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੈ) ਸਚ ਵਿਚ ਸਚ ਸਮਾ ਗਿਆ, (ਉਹੋ) ਗਾਡੀ ਰਾਹ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗ ਦਾ ਵਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ (ਜਾਰੀ ਰਿਹਾ) (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੇ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਸੱਚ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਥਾਂ ਸਿਖੀ ਦੀ ਅਵਧੀ ਦੂਜੇ ਥਾਂ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਅਵਧੀ ਕਰ ਦਿਖਾਉਣੀ ਸੀ ਸੋ ਕਰ ਵਿਖਾਈ। ਜੇ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ ਸੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹੀ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਸਚ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਮਥਾ
Moving on the highway of the holy congregation, the truth has merged into the truth.
ਬਾਬਾਣੈਘਰਿਚਾਨਣੁਲਹਣਾ।੬।
ਬਾਬੇ (ਦੇ) ਸਰੂਪ (ਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਲਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ। (ਭਾਵ, ਬਾਬਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ, ਲਹਿਣਾ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ)।
In fact Lahana became the light of Baba Nanak's house.
ਪਉੜੀ੭
ਸਬਦੈਸਬਦੁਮਿਲਾਇਆਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਅਘੜੁਘੜਾਏਗਹਣਾ।
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ। (ਦੇਖੋ ਹੁਣ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਅਘੜ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਘੜਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੋ ਅਗੇ ਘੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦਾ ਹੁਣ ਕੀ ਘੜਨਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਘੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹੋ ਅਚਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਰਜ ਮਿਲਿਆ। ਹੁਣ ਘੜਨ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਕਿਕੁਰਾਂ?)
Gurumukh (Angad) attuning his sabad (word) to the Sabad has chiselled his clumsy mind to make it an ornament.
ਭਾਇਭਗਤਿਭੈਚਲਣਾਆਪੁਗਣਾਇਨਖਲਹਲੁਖਹਣਾ।
ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਭੈ ਵਿਖੇ ਚਲਿਆ, ਆਪਾ ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਖੜਬੜਾਟ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਂ ਖਪਿਆ, (ਅਨਿੰਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ)।
He has disciplined himself in the fear of loving devotion and losing the sense of ego has saved himself from all sorts of imbroglios.
ਦੀਨਦੁਨੀਦੀਸਾਹਿਬੀਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਗੋਸਨਸੀਨੀਬਹਣਾ।
('ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀ' ਦੀ ਅਰਥਾਤ) ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ (ਪਾਸ ਹੋਵੇ ਫੇਰ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਹੋਕੇ ਏਕਾਂਤ ਬਹਿਣਾ (ਕੀਤਾ)।
Achieving mastery over spirituality as well as temporarily, the gurmukh has resided in the loneliness.
ਕਾਰਣਕਰਣਸਮਰਥਹੈਹੋਇਅਛਲੁਛਲਅੰਦਰਿਛਹਣਾ।
ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਮਰਥ ਹੋਕੇ ਅਛਲ ਹੋਕੇ, ਛਲ ਰੂਪ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਛਿਪਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ।
Even being cause of all effects and all powerfull he remains in the world full of deceptions.
ਸਤੁਸੰਤੋਖੁਦਇਆਧਰਮਅਰਥਵੀਚਾਰਿਸਹਜਿਘਰਿਘਹਣਾ।
ਸਤਿ ਸੰਤੁਖਾਦਿਕ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਵਿਖੇ ਧਰਮ ਤੇ ਅਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਚਾਰਕੇ ਸਹਜ ਘਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਹੋਏ।

ਕਾਮਕ੍ਰੋਧੁਵਿਰੋਧੁਛਡਿਲੋਭਮੋਹੁਅਹੰਕਾਰਹੁਤਹਣਾ।
ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਵਿਰੋਧ ਛੱਡਕੇ ਲੋਭ, ਮੋਹ, ਹੰਕਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਹ ਦੇਣਾ (ਇਹ ਸਹਿਜ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ, ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਹਿਜ ਦਾ ਵਿਧਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਰੂਪ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ-ਸਤ, ਸੰਤੋਖ, ਦਇਆ, ਧਰਮ, ਅਰਥ, ਵੀਚਾਰ ਹੋਣਾ, ਹੁਣ ਨਿਖੇਧੀ ਰੂਪ ਕਿਹਾ ਨੇ-ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਵਿਰੋਧ, ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ, ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਅਭਾਵ ਹੋਣਾ)।
Shedding lust, anger and opposition he has repudiated greed, infatuation and ego.
ਪੁਤੁਸਪੁਤੁਬਬਾਣੇਲਹਣਾ।੭।
ਅਜਿਹੇ ਸਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੱਤ੍ਰ ਬਾਬੇ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਖੇ 'ਲਹਿਣਾ' ਜੀ ਹੋਏ।
Such a worthy son Lahana (Angad) is born in the family of Baba (Nanak).

ਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਦਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਤੇਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਬਿਰਖੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਫਲਫਲਿਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ (ਅਰਥਾਤ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਦੇ ('ਅੰਗ') ਸਰੀਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਿਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਫਲਿਆ।
From the limb of Guru (Nanak) the tree of nector fruits in the name of Guru Angad has flourished.
ਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਜਗਾਈਅਨੁਦੀਵੇਤੇਜਿਉਦੀਵਾਬਲਿਆ।
(ਜੋਤ ਰੂਪ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ) ਜੋਤ ਤੋਂ ਜੋਤ ਜਗਾਕੇ (ਮਾਨੋਂ) ਦੀਵੇ ਤੋਂ ਦੀਵਾ ਬਾਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
As a lamp lits another lamp, with the light (of Guru Nanak), the flame (of Guru Angad) has been lit.
ਹੀਰੈਹੀਰਾਬੇਧਿਆਛਲੁਕਰਿਅਛਲੀਅਛਲੁਛਲਿਆ।
(ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੇ) ਹੀਰੇ ਨਾਲ (ਮਨ ਰੂਪੀ) ਹੀਰਾ ਬੇਧਿਆ (ਮਾਨੋਂ) ਜਾਦੂ ਕਰ ਕੇ 'ਅਛਲੀ' (ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕ) ਨੇ 'ਅਛਲ' (ਅੰਗਦ) ਨੂੰ ਛਲ ਲੀਤਾ, (ਭਾਵ ਵਸੀਕਾਰ ਹੇਠ ਕਰ ਲੀਤਾ)।
The diamond has cut (to shape) the diamond as if through magic, the undeceivable (Baba Nanak) has brought under control the simple_minded one (Guru Angad)
ਕੋਇਬੁਝਿਨਹੰਘਈਪਾਣੀਅੰਦਰਿਪਾਣੀਰਲਿਆ।
ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ਮਾਨੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Now they connot be distinguished as if water has mingled with water.
ਸਚਾਸਚੁਸੁਹਾਵੜਾਸਚੁਅੰਦਰਿਸਚੁਸਚਹੁਢਲਿਆ।
ਸੱਚਾ (ਸੱਚ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਅਰ ਸੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੇ ਹਨ, ਸੱਚ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਚ ਵਿਬ ਢਲਿਆ। (ਸੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ, ਸੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ, ਸੱਚ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ)।
The Truth is always beautiful and in the die of truth he (Guru Angad) has moulded himself.
ਨਿਹਚਲੁਸਚਾਤਖਤੁਹੈਅਬਿਚਲਰਾਜਨਹਲੈਹਲਿਆ।
(ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ 'ਨਿਹਚਲ') ਅਚਲ ਸੱਚਾ ਤਖਤ ਹੈ, ਅਟੱਲ ਰਾਜ ਹੈ, ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਹਿਲਾਇਆ ਹਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
His throne is immovable and kingdom everlasting ; they connot be moved in spite of efforts.
ਸਚਸਬਦੁਗੁਰਿਸਉਪਿਆਸਚਟਕਸਾਲਹੁਸਿਕਾਚਲਿਆ।
ਸੱਚ ਸਬਦ' (ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖ) ਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ) ਨੇ ਸਉਂਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸੱਚੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਥੋਂ 'ਸਿੱਕਾ' ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ।
The ture word has been handed over ( to Guru Angad) by the Guru (Nanak) as if the coin has been issued from the mint
ਸਿਧਨਾਥਅਵਤਾਰਸਭਹਥਜੋੜਿਕੈਹੋਏਖਲਿਆ।
ਸਿੱਧ ਨਾਥ, (ਸਾਰੇ) ਅਵਤਾਰ, ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜਕੇ ਖਲੋ ਗਏ (ਅਰ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੇ:)
Now siddhs naths and incarnations (of gods) etc have stood before him with folded hands
ਸਚਾਹੁਕਮੁਸੁਅਟਲੁਨਟਲਿਆ।੮।
(੯) (ਆਪ ਦੀ) ਆਗ੍ਯਾ ਸੱਚੀ ਅਰ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਕਦੀ ਟਾਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ (ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਪਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹਾਂ)।
And this command is true,immutable and inevitable.

ਅਛਲੁਅਛੇਦੁਅਭੇਦੁਹੈਭਗਤਿਵਛਲਹੋਇਅਛਲਛਲਾਇਆ।
(ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਸੱਚਾ 'ਅਮਰ' ਹੁਕਮ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਛੀਵੀਂ ਤੁਕ ਤੀਕ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ)। ੧ ਅਛਲ, ਅਛੇਦ, ਅਭੇਦ ਭਗਤ ਵਛਲ (ਆਦਿ) ਹੋਕੇ ਛਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ (ਭਾਵ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੋਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ)।
The Lord is undeceivable, indestructible and non-dual, but because of His love for His devotees He is sometimes deluded by them (as in the case of 'Guru Amar Das).
ਮਹਿਮਾਮਿਤਿਮਿਰਜਾਦਲੰਘਿਪਰਮਿਤਿਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁਨਪਾਇਆ।
ਮਹਿਮਾਂ ਹੱਦ ਅਰ ਮਿਰਯਾਦਾ ਥੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਗਈ; ਮਿਣਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਹੋਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ।
His grandeur has crossed all the limits and being boyond all the boundaries none could know about his extent.
ਰਹਰਾਸੀਰਹਰਾਸਿਹੈਪੈਰੀਪੈਜਗੁਪੈਰੀਪਾਇਆ।
ਸਿੱਧੇ ਰਸਤਿਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਜਾਂ ਰਹੁਰੀਤ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੀ) ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ।
Among all the codes of couduct, the code of conduct of the Guru is the best one; he falling at the feet of Guru (Angad) has made the whole world bow at his own feet.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਅਮਰਪਦੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਬ੍ਰਿਖਿਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਫਲਲਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂਦ੍ਵਾਰੇ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅਮਰ ਪਦ (ਪਾਯਾ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਿਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲ ਲਗਾ, (ਭਾਵ ਦੂਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਤੋਂ ਤੀਜੀ ਤੁਰੀ)।
The pleasure fruit of the gurmuldts is the state of immortality and on the tree of nectar (Guru Angad) Guru Amar Das, the nectar fruit has grown.

ਗੁਰੂ ਚੇਲਾ (ਹੋਯਾ ਤੇ) ਚੇਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੋਯਾ; ਪੁਰਖ ਤੋਂ ਪੁਰਖ ਉਪਾਕੇ (ਪਹਿਲਾ) ਪੁਰਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਤਦ) ਸਮਾਇਆ।
From the Guru emerged the disciple and the disciple became the Guru.
ਵਰਤਮਾਨਵੀਹਿਵਿਸਵੇਹੋਇਇਕੀਹਸਹਜਿਘਰਿਆਇਆ।
(ਜਗਤ) ਵੀਹ ਵਿਸਵੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਹੈ (ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ); (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ ਇਕ ਇੱਛਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਯਾ) ਤੁਰੀਆ ਆਰੂੜ੍ਹ ਹੋਕੇ ਸਹਜ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਏ।
Guru Angad the Cosmic spirit ( Purakh) having manifested the supreme spirit, (Guru Amar Das), himself merged in the supreme light.
ਸਚਾਅਮਰੁਅਮਰਿਵਰਤਾਇਆ।੯।
(ਸਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ) ਅਮਰ ਨੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਤੋਰਿਆ।
Going beyond the perceptible world, he established himself in equipoise.Thus, Guru Amar Das has spead the true message.

ਸਬਦੁਸੁਰਤਿਪਰਚਾਇਕੈਚੇਲੇਤੇਗੁਰੁਗੁਰੁਤੇਚੇਲਾ।
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਵਿਖੇ (ਮਨ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਚਾਕੇ ਚੇਲਾ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਚੇਲਾ (ਇਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਗਏ)।
Absorbing consciousness in the Word, the disciple became Guru and the Guru disciple.
ਵਾਣਾਤਾਣਾਆਖੀਐਸੂਤੁਇਕੁਹੁਇਕਪੜੁਮੇਲਾ।
ਜਿੱਕੁਰ ਪੇਟਾ ਅਤੇ ਤਾਣਾ (ਵਖੋ ਵਖ ਨਾਉਂ) ਕਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਸੂਤ ਇਕੋ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮਿਲਕਰ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਦ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ ਨਾਮ ਹੋਇਆ)।
Ward and weft are separate names but in the form of yam they are one and are known as the one, cloth.
ਦੁਧਹੁਦਹੀਵਖਾਣੀਐਦਹੀਅਹੁਮਖਣੁਕਾਜੁਸੁਹੇਲਾ।
ਦੁੱਧ ਥੋਂ ਦਹੀਂ, ਤੇ ਦਹੀਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੱਖਣ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮੀਂ ਸੋਭਦਾ ਹੈ।
The same milk becomes curd and from curd is made butter to be used variously.
ਮਿਸਰੀਖੰਡੁਵਖਾਣੀਐਜਾਣੁਕਮਾਦਹੁਰੇਲਾਪੇਲਾ।
ਫੇਰ ਕਮਾਦ ਥੋਂ (ਰੇਲਾ ਪੇਲਾ) ਗੁੜ ਸ਼ੱਕਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਥੋਂ ਮਿਸ਼ਰੀ ਖੰਡ ਨਿਕਲਦੀ ਹੈ।
From the sugar cane juice are prepared the lump sugar and other forms of sugar.
ਖੀਰਿਖੰਡੁਘਿਉਮੇਲਿਕਰਿਅਤਿਵਿਸਮਾਦੁਸਾਦਰਸਕੇਲਾ।
ਖੀਰ' (ਦੁਧ), ਖੰਡ, ਅਰ ਘਿਉ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਵਡੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਰਸ ਵਾਲੀ (ਤਸ਼ਮਈ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਰਸ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Mixing the milk, sugar, ghee etc. many dainty dishes are prepared.
ਪਾਨਸੁਪਾਰੀਕਥੁਮਿਲਿਚੂਨੇਰੰਗੁਸੁਰੰਗਸੁਹੇਲਾ।
ਪਾਨ, ਸੁਪਾਰੀ, ਤੇ ਕੱਥਾ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਚੂਨੇ ਦਾ (ਸੁਰੰਗ) ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗ ਸੁਹਣਾ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
Likewise when betal, betel nut, catechu and lime are mixed, they produce a beautiful colour.
ਪੋਤਾਪਰਵਾਣੀਕੁਨਵੇਲਾ।੧੦।
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਕ ਪੋਤ੍ਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ ਸੁਹਣਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਅਥਵਾ ਨੌਤਨ=ਨਾਦੀ ਪੋਤ੍ਰਾ ਹੈ)
In the same way the grandson Guru Amar Das has been authentically established.

ਤਿਲਿਮਿਲਿਫੁਲਅਮੁਲਜਿਉਗੁਰਸਿਖਸੰਧਿਸੁਗੰਧਫੁਲੇਲਾ।
ਤਿਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਫੁੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਸੁਗੰਧਿ ਵਾਲਾ ਫੁਲੇਲ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ; (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ) ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਿਲੌਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
As sesame mixed with flower becomes scented oil, likewise the, meeting of the Guru and the disciple makes a new personality.
ਖਾਸਾਮਲਮਲਿਸਿਰੀਸਾਫੁਸਾਹਕਪਾਹਚਲਤਬਹੁਖੇਲਾ।
ਖਾਸਾ, ਮਲਮਲ, ਸਿਰੀਸਾਫ ਆਦਿ ਕੱਪੜਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਲੇ ਖੇਲ ਕਪਾਹ (ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ ਤਿਹਾ ਹੀ) 'ਸਾਹ' (ਬ੍ਰਹਮ) ਦੇ 'ਚਲਿਤ' (ਕੌਤਕ) ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ।
Cotten also after passing ugh many processes becomes cloth of different varieties (similarly the ciple after meeting the Gum obtains a high position) .
ਗੁਰਮੂਰਤਿਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਹੈਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਮਿਲਿਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਵੇਲਾ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ (ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਿਥੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ?) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੇ ਮਿਲੋ (ਭਾਵ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਆਸਾ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ ਸੁਣੋਂ)। (ਗੁਰੂ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹਨ?)
Only the Guru's rd is the idol of Guru and this word is received in the holy congregation e ambrosial hours of the day.
ਦੁਨੀਆਕੂੜੀਸਾਹਿਬੀਸਚਮਣੀਸਚਗਰਬਿਗਹੇਲਾ।
ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਝੂਠੀ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ (ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ) ('ਸਚਮਣੀ' ਅਰਥਾਤ) ਸੱਚੇ ਮਦ ਵਾਲੇ 'ਸੱਚੇ ਮਦ' ਵਿਖੇ ਮਸਤ ਹਨ।
The lordship of the world is false and truth must be caught hold of proudly.
ਦੇਵੀਦੇਵਦੁੜਾਇਅਨੁਜਿਉਮਿਰਗਾਵਲਿਦੇਖਿਬਘੇਲਾ।
ਦੇਵੀਆਂ ਦੇਵਤੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਇਉਂ) ਨੱਠ ਗਏ ਜਿੱਕੁਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਕੇ ਮਿਰਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਡਾਰ (ਰਫੂ ਚੱਕ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ)।
Before such a truthful person, gods and goddesses run as a group of deer take to their heels on seeing a tiger
ਹੁਕਮਿਰਜਾਈਚਲਣਾਪਿਛੇਲਗੇਨਕਿਨਕੇਲਾ।
ਰਜ਼ਾਈ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲਗ ਕੇ ਇਉਂ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮਾਨੋਂ) ਨੱਕ ਨਕੇਲ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ) ਹੈ।
People, accepting the will of the lord and wearing the nose bar (of love) move (calmly) with Guru Amar Das.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਚਾਅਮਰਿਸੁਹੇਲਾ।੧੧।
ਸਚਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਸੁਖ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈ।
Guru Amar Das is the truth mate, blest one gurmukh, the Guru oriented.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਹੋਆਸਤਿਗੁਰਹੁਅਚਰਜੁਅਮਰਅਮਰਿਵਰਤਾਇਆ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਅੰਗਦ) ਤੋਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਰ ਅਚਰਜ ਹੁਕਮ (ਅਥਵਾ ਖੇਲ) ਵਰਤਾਇਆ।
From the true Guru (Angad Dev) becoming the truthful Guru, Amar
ਸੋਟਿਕਾਸੋਬੈਹਣਾਸੋਈਸਚਾਹੁਕਮੁਚਲਾਇਆ।
ਸੋਈ ਰਾਜ ਤਿਲਕ, ਸੋਈ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਣ, ਸੋਈ ਸਚੇ (ਨਾਮ ਦਾ) ਹੁਕਮ ਚਲਾਇਆ।
Has enacted a wondrous feat. The same light, the same seat and the same will of Lord is being spread by him.
ਖੋਲਿਖਜਾਨਾਸਬਦੁਦਾਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਸਚੁਮੇਲਿਮਿਲਾਇਆ।
ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਾ' ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਦਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿਤਾ।
He has opened up the storehouse of word and has made the truth manifest through the holy congregation.
ਗੁਰਚੇਲਾਪਰਵਾਣੁਕਰਿਚਾਰਿਵਰਨਲੈਪੈਰੀਪਾਇਆ।
ਚੇਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਿਕ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਚਾਰੇ ਵਰਣ ਲੈਕੇ (ਉਸਦੇ) ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਏ।
Making the disciple authentic, the Guru has put all the four varnas at his feet.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਇਕੁਧਿਆਈਐਦੁਰਮਤਿਦੂਜਾਭਾਉਮਿਟਾਇਆ।
(ਚਾਰ ਵਰਨ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਜੋ ਖਹਿ ਖਹਿ ਮਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ? ਉੱਤਰ:- ਨਹੀਂ, ਓਹ ਚਾਰ ਵਰਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਖ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਖੋਟੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ ਮਿਟਾਕੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਹੋਕੇ ਇਕ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ) ਅਰਾਧਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।
Now all becoming gurmukhs adore the one Lord and evil wisdom and duality have been wiped out of them.
ਕੁਲਾਧਰਮਗੁਰਸਿਖਸਭਮਾਇਆਵਿਚਿਉਦਾਸੁਰਹਾਇਆ।
(ਫੇਰ ਕੇਹੜੇ ਸਿੱਖ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਵਰਨ ਆਸ਼੍ਰਮ ਦੇ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ? ਉੱਤਰ- ਨਹੀਂ) ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੁਲਾ ਧਰਮ (ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ) ਮਾਯਾ ਵਿਚ ਉਦਾਸ ਰਖਿਆ।
Now the duty of the family and the teaching of the Guru is that one should be detacthed while living amidst maya
ਪੂਰੇਪੂਰਾਥਾਟੁਬਣਾਇਆ।੧੨।
ਪੂਰੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਪਯਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਲਈ) ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜਾਮ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਤਾ।
The perfect Guru has created the perfect grandeur.

ਆਦਿਪੁਰਖੁਆਦੇਸੁਕਰਿਆਦਿਜੁਗਾਦਿਸਬਦਵਰਤਾਇਆ।
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ' (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ) 'ਗੁਰਆਦਿ' (ਨਾਨਕ) ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਮੁੱਢ ਅਰ ਜੁੱਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੀ ਵਰਤਾਯਾ।
Having worshipped the primal Lord he made the word pervade all the yugs ,and even before the yugs i.e. before the advent of time
ਨਾਮੁਦਾਨੁਇਸਨਾਨੁਦਿੜੁਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਦੇਸੈਂਸਾਰੁਤਰਾਇਆ।
(ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਅਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ) ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ, ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਯਾ ਦੇਕੇ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਦਿਤਾ।
Instructing people and teaching about the remembrance of nam (Lord), charity and ablutions, the Guru has taken them across the world(ocean)
ਕਲੀਕਾਲਇਕਪੈਰਹੁਇਚਾਰਚਰਨਕਰਿਧਰਮੁਧਰਾਇਆ।
ਕਲੀ ਕਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ (ਚਾਰ ਪੈਰ ਅਰਥਾਤ ਤਪ, ਸੌਚ, ਦਾਨ, ਸਤ, ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਇਕ ਪੈਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ (ਆਪ ਨੇ) ਚਾਰੇ ਪੈਰ (ਏਹ:- ਸਤ, ਸੰਤੋਖ, ਵੀਚਾਰ, ਨਾਮ) ਸਾਬਤ ਕਰ ਦਿਤੇ।
The Guru provided dour legs to dharma which had remained one legged earlier.
ਭਲਾਭਲਾਭਲਿਆਈਅਹੁਪਿਉਦਾਦੇਦਾਰਾਹੁਚਲਾਇਆ।
ਭੱਲਾ (ਜਾਤ ਵਾਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ) ਭਲਿਆਈ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭਲਾ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਪਿਉ ਦਾਦੇ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ (ਪੂਰਾ) ਰਖਿਆ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਪ੍ਰਦਾਯ ਜਿਉਂ ਦੀ ਤਿਉਂ ਰੱਖੀ)।
From the point of view of public weal this was good and this way he further extended the ,,way shown by his (spiritual)father and grandfather.
ਅਗਮਅਗੋਚਰਗਹਣਗਤਿਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਲਿਵਅਲਖੁਲਖਾਇਆ।
ਅੰਗਮ, ਅਗੋਚਰ ਤੇ ਗਹਣ ਗਤਿ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਲਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਨੂੰ ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਨਾਲ (ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੂਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ) ਲਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। (ਭਾਵ ਹਸਤਾਮਲ ਵਤ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।)
Teaching the skill of merging the cousciousness in the word, he has brought people face to face with that imperceptible (Lord)
ਅਪਰੰਪਰਆਗਾਧਿਬੋਧਿਪਰਮਿਤਿਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਨਪਾਇਆ।
(ਇਸੇ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਪਰੰਪਰ ਕਹੀਏ) ਪਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ('ਅਗਾਧ') ਡੂੰਘੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਮਿਤ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ, ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪਾਰ ਵਾ ਉਰਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਰਾਰ ਤੇ ਪਾਰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
His glory is unapproachable, invisible and deep; its limits cannot be known.
ਆਪੇਆਪਿਨਆਪੁਜਣਾਇਆ।੧੩।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਨੇ) ਆਪੇ ਆਪ (ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਣਾਇਆ।
He has known his real self but even then he has never attributed any importance to himself.

ਰਾਗਦੋਖਨਿਰਦੋਖੁਹੈਰਾਜੁਜੋਗਵਰਤੈਵਰਤਾਰਾ।
ਰਾਗ ਦ੍ਵੈਖ (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਅਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੈਰ ਰੱਖਣ) ਦੇ ਦੋਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਰਦੋਖ ਅਰ ('ਰਾਜ ਜੋਗ') ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਜੋਗ ਦਾ ਵਰਤਾਰਾ ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
Away from attachment and jealousies he has adopted rajyoga (The supreme yoga).
ਮਨਸਾਵਾਚਾਕਰਮਣਾਮਰਮੁਨਜਾਪੈਅਪਰਅਪਾਰਾ।
ਮਨ, ਬਾਣੀ, ਅਰ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਭੇਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਿਆ (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਆਪ) ਅਪਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ।
None can know the mystery of his mind, speech and actions.
ਦਾਤਾਭੁਗਤਾਦੈਆਦਾਨਿਦੇਵਸਥਲੁਸਤਿਸੰਗੁਉਧਾਰਾ।
(ਕਿਧਰੇ) ਦਇਆ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦਾਨੀ ਕਹਾਕੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ) ਭੁਗਤਾ ਹਨ, ਸਤਿਸੰਗ (ਜੁੜਨ ਲਈ ਅਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ) ਉਧਾਰ ਲਈ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ (ਦਾ ਮੁੱਢ ਕੀਤਾ)।
He is bestower ( unattached) enjoyer, and he has created holy congregation which is equal to the abode of gods.
ਸਹਜਸਮਾਧਿਅਗਾਧਿਬੋਧਿਸਤਿਗੁਰੁਸਚਾਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ।
(ਆਪ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਰਣ ਹਾਰੇ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧੀ ਅਗਾਧ ਬੋਧ (ਦਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਚਲੇ, ਭਾਵ ਅੰਤਰ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਲੱਗੇ)।
He remains absorbed in innate poise; the master of unfathomable intellect, and being the true Guru he sets every one's disordered life in order.
ਗੁਰੁਅਮਰਹੁਗੁਰੁਰਾਮਦਾਸੁਜੋਤੀਜੋਤਿਜਗਾਇਜੁਹਾਰਾ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੋਤ ਤੋਂ ਜੋਤ ਜਗਾਕੇ ('ਜੁਹਾਰਾ') ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ।
From the flame of Guru Amar Das the flame of Guru Ram Das has been lighted. I salute him.
ਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਗੁਰਸਿਖੁਹੋਇਅਨਹਦਬਾਣੀਨਿਝਰਧਾਰਾ।
(ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਰਤ (ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ) ਅਨਾਹਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਧਾਰਾ (ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਪਾਯਾ ਹੈ)।
Becoming disciple of Gum and merging consciousness into, word he has quaffed the eternally flowing current of the unstruck melody.
ਤਖਤੁਬਖਤੁਪਰਗਟੁਪਾਹਾਰਾ।੧੪।
ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਗੱਦੀ ਅਰ ਭਾਗ੍ਯ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
Sitting on the throne of Guru, he has become manifest in the world

ਪੀਊਦਾਦੇਜੇਵੇਹਾਪੜਦਾਦੇਪਰਵਾਣੁਪੜੋਤਾ।
ਪਿਤਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ) ਦਾਦਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ) ਪੜਦਾਦਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿਖੇ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣੀਕ ਪੜੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ।
Grand father Guru Nanak, the grand son ( Guru Rain Das) has become great Like (spiritual) father Guru AmarDas, grand father Guru Angad and accepted (by sangat).
ਗੁਰਮਤਿਜਾਗਿਜਗਾਇਦਾਕਲਿਜੁਗਅੰਦਰਿਕੌੜਾਸੋਤਾ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ ਲੈਕੇ ਕਲਜੁਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪ ਜਾਗਕੇ (ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਜਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਥਾਰੇ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਤੋਂ (ਅਥਵਾ ਨੀਂਦ ਤੋਂ ਜਗਾਉਣਾ ਕੌੜਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਰ ਕੌੜੇ ਚਸ਼ਮੇ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Having been awakened by Guru's instruction, he in turn awakens the dark age (Kaliyug) from deep slumber.
ਦੀਨਦੁਨੀਦਾਥੰਮੁਹੁਇਭਾਰੁਅਥਰਬਣਥੰਮ੍ਹਿਖਲੋਤਾ।
(ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀ) ਲੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਦਾ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਹੋਕੇ ਭਾਰੀ ਭਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਥੰਮ੍ਹ ਖਲੋਤਾ।
For dharma and the world he stands like a supporting pillar.
ਭਉਜਲੁਭਉਨਵਿਆਪਈਗੁਰਬੋਹਿਥਚੜਿਖਾਇਨਗੋਤਾ।
(ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੂ ਨੂੰ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਭੈ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਚੜ੍ਹਕੇ (ਫੇਰ) ਗ਼ੋਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ।
Whosoever has mounted the vessel of the Guru, is not scared of the world world ocean; and he is not to drown in it
ਅਵਗੁਣਲੈਗੁਣਵਿਕਣੈਗੁਰਹਟਨਾਲੈਵਣਜਸਓਤਾ।
ਅਉਗੁਣ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ) ਗੁਣ ਵਿਹਾਝ ਲਈਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਹੱਟੀ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਨਫੇਵੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Here virtues are sold for evils - such is the profitable shop of the Guru.
ਮਿਲਿਆਮੂਲਿਨਵਿਛੁੜੈਰਤਨਪਦਾਰਥਹਾਰੁਪਰੋਤਾ।
ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਦੈਵੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ) ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਰ (ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ) ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਫੇਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਛੜਦਾ (ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ: 'ਸਖੀ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਨਾ ਜਾਈ ਇਹ ਰੀਤਿ ਭਲੀ ਭਗਵੰਤੈ')।
Once visited none gets separated from him who has put on the garland of the pearls of virtues.
ਮੈਲਾਕਦੇਨਹੋਵਈਗੁਰਸਰਵਰਿਨਿਰਮਲਜਲਧੋਤਾ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਦਾ ਜਲ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਿਖੇ) ਧੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ (ਮਨ) ਕਦੇ ਫੇਰ ਮੈਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
Washed himself in the pure water of the tank of the Guru's love, one never gets soiled again.
ਬਾਬਣੈਕੁਲਿਕਵਲੁਅਛੋਤਾ।੧੫।
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਕੁਲ ਵਿਚ (ਐਸਾ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ) ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਕਵਲ (ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ) ਹੋਏ।
In the family of great grand father (Guru Nanak) he (Guru Ram Das) stands like a detached lotus.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੬
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਮੇਲਾਸਚਦਾਸਚਿਮਿਲੈਸਚਿਆਰਸੰਜੋਗੀ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਚ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾਂ) ਦਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਸਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਸੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Gurmukh longs for the glimpse of truth and the truth is abtained only by providentially meeting an adopter of the truth.
ਘਰਬਾਰੀਪਰਵਾਰਵਿਚਿਭੋਗਭੁਗਤਿਰਾਜੇਰਸੁਭੋਗੀ।
ਪਰਵਾਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਘਰਬਾਰੀ ਹੋਕੇ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਗਦੇ (ਜਾਪਦੇ ਅਰ) ਰਸ ਭੋਗੀ ਰਾਜੇ (ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Living in the family, the gurmukh like a dutiful householder enjoys all materials and like kings tastes all delights.
ਆਸਾਵਿਚਿਨਿਰਾਸਹੁਇਜੋਗਜੁਗਤਿਜੋਗੀਸਰੁਜੋਗੀ।
(ਪਰ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਆਸਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਨਿਰਾਸ ਹੋਕੇ (ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਇਸ ਜੋਗ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਜੋਗੀਸ਼ਰ ਹੋਕੇ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
He remains detached amidst all hopes and, knowing the technique of yoga, is known as the king of yogis.
ਦੇਂਦਾਰਹੈਨਮੰਗੀਐਮਰੈਨਹੋਇਵਿਜੋਗਵਿਜੋਗੀ।
ਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਫੇਰ) ਮੰਗਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਨਾ (ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀ) ਮੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਨਾ ਵਿਜੋਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵਿਛੁੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
He always bestows and begs nothing. Neither he dies nor he suffers the pangs of the separation from the Lord.
ਆਧਿਬਿਆਧਿਉਪਾਧਿਹੈਵਾਇਪਿਤਕਫੁਰੋਗਅਰੋਗੀ।
ਆਧ, ਬਿਆਧ, ਉਪਾਧ ਥੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਵਾਇ, ਪਿਤ, ਕਫ ਆਦਿ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਥੋਂ ਅਰੋਗ ਹਨ।
He is not troubled by pains and maladies and he remains free from the diseases of air, cough and heat.
ਦੁਖੁਸੁਖੁਸਮਸਰਿਗੁਰਮਤੀਸੰਪੈਹਰਖਨਅਪਦਾਸੋਗੀ।
ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਇਕ ਤੁੱਲ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤ (ਪਰ ਇਸਥਿਤੀ ਹੈ) ਦੌਲਤ ਨਾਲ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਯਾ ਅਪਦਾ ਸੋਗ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਨਹੀਂ।
He accepts sufferings and joys alike; wisdom of the Guru is his wealth and he is uninfluenced by joy and sorrows.
ਦੇਹਬਿਦੇਹੀਲੋਗਅਲੋਗੀ।੧੬।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ) ਦੇਹ ਵਿਚ (ਵਸਦੇ ਹੋਏ) ਵਿਦੇਹੀ ਹਨ, (ਅਰ) ਲੋਕਾਂ (ਦੀ ਪਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਦੇ) ਨਿਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ।
Being embodied he is yet beyond the body and while living in the world he is beyond the world.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੭
ਸਭਨਾਸਾਹਿਬੁਇਕੁਹੈਦੂਜੀਜਾਇਨਹੋਇਨਹੋਗੀ।
ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਮੀ ਇਕ (ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ) ਹੈ, ਦੁਜੀ ਥਾਉਂ ਨ (ਪਿਛੇ) ਹੋਈ ਨਾ (ਕੋਈ ਅੱਗੇ) ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
The master of all is one; any body else has neither existed nor ever shall be in future.
ਸਹਜਸਰੋਵਰਿਪਰਮਹੰਸੁਗੁਰਮਤਿਮੋਤੀਮਾਣਕਚੋਗੀ।
ਸ਼ਾਂਤਿ (ਰੂਪ ਮਾਨ) ਸਰੋਵਰ ਹਨ; ਪੂਰਨਤਾ (ਰੂਪ) ਹੰਸ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰਮਤ (ਰੂਪੀ) ਉੱਥੇ ਮਾਣਕ ਤੇ ਮੋਤੀ ਚੋਗਾ ਹਨ।
The creatures living in the tank of equipoise of the wisdom of Guru are known as param halls (swans of highest order)and they pick up only rubies and pearls i.e. they always adopt goodness in their life.
ਖੀਰਨੀਰਜਿਉਕੂੜੁਸਚੁਤਜਣੁਭਜਣੁਗੁਰਗਿਆਨਅਧੋਗੀ।
ਹੇ ਜਗ੍ਯਾਸੂ ! ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਦੁਧ ਵਾਂਙ ਝੂਠ ਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ (ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਪੂਰਨ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਕੇ (ਝੂਠ ਨੂੰ) ਛਡ ਅਰ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਲੈ।
Becoming authorised of the knowledge of the Guru, they separate falsehood from truth as &visas are supposed to separate water from milk.
ਇਕਮਨਿਇਕੁਅਰਾਧਨਾਪਰਿਹਰਿਦੂਜਾਭਾਉਦਰੋਗੀ।
ਇਕ ਮਨ ਹੋਕੇ ਇਕ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਦੀ ਅਰਾਧਨਾਕਰ ਲੈ; ਦੂਜਾ ਭਾਉ, ਛਲ ਅਰ ਝੂਠ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਹ।
Repudiating the sense of duality they adore the one Lord with single mindedness.
ਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਲਿਵਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਸਹਜਿਸਮਾਧਿਅਗਾਧਿਘਰੋਗੀ।
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ) ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਹਿਜ ਪਦ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਧ ਦੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ (ਅਨੁਭਵ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ ਅਰ ਫੇਰ) ਘਰ ਬਾਰੀ ਹਨ (ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਮਾਰਥ ਦੀ ਅਵਧਿ ਆਪ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਥੀ ਬੀ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Although house holders, they, merging their consciousness in Word, in the holy congregation remain established ineffortless concentration
ਜੰਮਣੁਮਰਣਹੁਬਾਹਰੇਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਪਰਮਪਰਜੋਗੀ।
(ਕਿਆ ਮਾਮੂਲੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਹਨ? ਨਹੀਂ ਓਹ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਦ ਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਹਨ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਥੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਨ (ਕੇਵਲ) ਪਰੋਪਕਾਰ (ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪ) ਪਰੇ ਥੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਦਸ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹਨ (ਯਥਾ:-”ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਆਏ”)।
Such perfect yogis are benevolent and free from transmigration.
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਗੁਰਅਮਰਸਮੋਗੀ।੧੭।
ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਸਮਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
Among such persons is Guru Ram Das who is fully absorbed in Guru Amar Das i.e. he is his constituent.
ਪਉੜੀ੧੮
ਅਲਖਨਿਰੰਜਨੁਆਖੀਐਅਕਲਅਜੋਨਿਅਕਾਲਅਪਾਰਾ।
ਲਖਣ ਤੋਂ ਅਰ ਮਾਯਾ ਥੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਕਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਕਲ, ਅਜੋਨੀ, ਅਕਾਲ, (ਆਦਿ) ਅਪਾਰ (ਨਾਮ ਹਨ)।
That Lord is without blemish, beyond birth, beyond time and is infinite.
ਰਵਿਸਸਿਜੋਤਿਉਦੋਤਲੰਘਿਪਰਮਜੋਤਿਪਰਮੇਸਰੁਪਿਆਰਾ।
ਸੂਰਜ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਉਦਯ ਹੋਣ ਥੋਂ ਪਰਮਜੋਤੀ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਯਾਰਾ ਹੈ।
Crossing the lights of sun and the moon, Guru Arjan Dev loves the supreme light of the Lord.
ਜਗਮਗਜੋਤਿਨਿਰੰਤਰੀਜਗਜੀਵਨਜਗਜੈਜੈਕਾਰਾ।
ਜਗਮਗ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਕ ਰਸ ਜੋਤ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਰੂਪ ਹਨ, (ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ) ਜਗਤ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
His light is ever effulgent. He is the life of the world and the whole world acclaims him.
ਨਮਸਕਾਰਸੰਸਾਰਵਿਚਿਆਦਿਪੁਰਖਆਦੇਸੁਉਧਾਰਾ।
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਭ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ (ਸਰਬ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ) ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਹਨ, (ਜੋ ਕੋਈ) ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਉਧਾਰ (ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ)।
All in the world salute him and he, ordained by the primal Lord, liberates one and all.
ਚਾਰਿਵਰਨਛਿਅਦਰਸਨਾਂਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਮਾਰਗਿਸਚੁਅਚਾਰਾ।
ਚਾਰ ਵਰਣਾਂ ਛੀ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਆਚਾਰ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
Amidst the four vamas and six philosophies the way of the gurmukh is the way of adoption of truth.
ਨਾਮੁਦਾਨੁਇਸਨਾਨੁਦਿੜਿਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਭਾਇਭਗਤਿਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ।
(ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਪੰਥ ਵਿਚ) ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਜੋ ਸਿੱਧੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਹਨ)।
Adopting the remebrance of the name (of Lord), charity and ablution steadfastly and with loving devotion, he (Guru Arjan Dev) gets the devoetees across ( the world ocean).
ਗੁਰੁਅਰਜਨੁਸਚੁਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ।੧੮।
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਲਈ) ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਜੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰ ਹਨ।
Guru Arjan is the builder (of the Panth ).
ਪਉੜੀ੧੯
ਪਿਉਦਾਦਾਪੜਦਾਦਿਅਹੁਕੁਲਦੀਪਕੁਅਜਰਾਵਰਨਤਾ।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮ ਦਾਸ) ਪਿਤਾ, ਦਾਦਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ), ਪੜਦਾਦਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਅਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ) ਕੁਲ ਦੀ ਦੀਵਾ ਅਜਰ ਤੇ ਅਮਰ (ਪੜਪੋਤਾ) ਪੰਜਵਂ ਥਾਉਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਜੀ ਹੋਏ।
Guru Arjan Dev is the lamp of the line of his father, grand father and great grand father.
ਤਖਤੁਬਖਤੁਲੈਮਲਿਆਸਬਦਸੁਰਤਿਵਾਪਾਰਿਸਪਤਾ।
ਤਖਤ ਅਤੇ ਬਖਤ (ਭਾਗ) ਨੂੰ ਮੱਲ ਲੀਤਾ, ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤ ਦਾ ਪਤਵੰਤਾ ਵਪਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
Having merged his consciousness into Word he in a dignified way has undertaken the task (of Guruship) and being blest st one, has assumed the authority of the throne (of the Lord).

ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਭੰਡਾਰ (ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ) ਭਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਅੱਠ ਪਹਿਰ) ਕਥਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਵਿਖੇ ਰੱਤੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
He is the storehouse of gurbdni (divine hymns) and remains absorbed in the eulogization (of the Lord).
ਧੁਨਿਅਨਹਦਿਨਿਝਰੁਝਰੈਪੂਰਨਪ੍ਰੇਮਿਅਮਿਓਰਸਮਤਾ।
ਇਕ ਰਸ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਝਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪੂਰਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਸਤ ਹਨ। (ਭਾਵ ਕਥਾ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਵਿਖੇ, ਵੈਰਾਗ ਵਿਖੇ)।
He allows the fountain of unstruck melody flow unabated and remains immersed in the nectar of perfect love.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਹੈਗੁਰੁਸਭਾਰਤਨਪਦਾਰਥਵਣਜਸਹਤਾ।
ਜਦ ਗੁਰ ਸਭਾ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ, ਰਤਨ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਲਾਭਦਾਇਕ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
When the court of Guru assumes the form of holy congregation, the exchange of jewels and gems of wisdom takes place
ਸਚੁਨੀਸਾਣੁਦੀਬਾਣੁਸਚੁਸਚੁਤਾਣੁਸਚੁਮਾਣੁਮਹਤਾ।
ਨੀਸਾਣ ਅਰ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਸੱਚਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਣ ਤਾਣ ਅਰ ਮਹੱਤ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ) ਸੱਚੀ ਹੈ।
The true court of Guru Arjan Dev is the true mark (of grandeur) and he has attained the true honour and greatness
ਅਬਚਲੁਰਾਜੁਹੋਆਸਣਖਤਾ।੧੯।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਜੀ ਦਾ) ਰਾਜ ਅਬਚਲ ਹੈ ਅਰ ('ਸਣਖੱਤਾ') ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ।
The kingdom of knowledgeable (Guru Arjan Dev) is immutable.

ਚਾਰੇਚਕਨਿਵਾਇਓਨੁਸਿਖਸੰਗਤਿਆਵੈਅਗਣਤਾ।
ਚਾਰੇ ਚੱਕ (ਦਿਸ਼ਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਕਰ ਲੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਅਨਗਿਣਤ (ਵਹੀਰ ਪਾਈ) ਆਉਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
He has conquered all the four directions and the Sikh devotees come to him in countless number.
ਲੰਗਰੁਚਲੈਗੁਰਸਬਦਿਪੂਰੇਪੂਰੀਬਣੀਬਣਤਾ।
ਲੰਗਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਕੁਝ ਟੋਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ) ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਣੌਤ ਹੈ, (ਯਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਲੰਗਰ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ)।
The free kitchen (latigar) wherein the word of the Guru is served runs unabated there and this is the perfect creation(arrangement) of the perfect Guru.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਛਤ੍ਰੁਨਿਰੰਜਨੀਪੂਰਨਬ੍ਰਹਮਪਰਮਪਦਪਤਾ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਛਤ੍ਰ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਆਪ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਅਥਵਾ ਅਨਾਮੀ ਹੈ) ਪੂਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਮ ਪਦ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
Under the canopy of the Lord, the gurmukhs attain the supreme state bestowed by the perfect Lord.
ਵੇਦਕਤੇਬਅਗੋਚਰਾਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸਬਦੁਸਾਧਸੰਗੁਸਤਾ।
ਵੇਦਾਂ ਕਤੇਬਾਂ ਥੋਂ (ਮਹਿੰਮਾਂ) ਅਗੋਚਰ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਬਦ ਹੈ, (ਜੋ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਸਤ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ)।
In the holy congregation, the. Word Brahm, which is beyond the Vedas and the Ketebas , is attained by gurmukhs.
ਮਾਇਆਵਿਚਿਉਦਾਸੁਕਰਿਗੁਰੁਸਿਖਜਨਕਅਸੰਖਭਗਤਾ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਯਾ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੀ ਉਦਾਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਨਕ ਵਰਗੇ ਅਸੰਖਾਂ ਭਗਤ (ਆਪ ਨੇ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਤੇ ਹਨ)
The Guru has created myriad Janak-like devotees who remain detached amidst maya.
ਕੁਦਰਤਿਕੀਮਨਜਾਣੀਐਅਕਥਕਥਾਅਬਿਗਤਅਬਿਗਤਾ।
(ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ) ਕੁਦਰਤ ਅਰ ਕੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਅਕੱਥ ਹੈ (ਅਰ ਗਤੀ) ਅਬਿਗਤ ਤੋਂ ਅਬਗਤ ਹੈ, (ਭਾਵ ਵਡੀ ਦੁਰਗਮ ਅਰ ਕਠਨ ਸਮਝਣੀ ਹੈ)।
The mystery of the power of His creation cannot be known and ineffable is the story of that unmanifest (Lord) .
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਸਹਜਜੁਗਤਾ।੨੦।
(ਪਰ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਅਰ ਭਲੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
The gurmukhs receive their pleasure fruit without any effort.
ਪਉੜੀ੨੧
ਹਰਖਹੁਸੋਗਹੁਬਾਹਰਾਹਰਣਭਰਣਸਮਰਥੁਸਰੰਦਾ।
(ਗੁਰੂ) ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਥੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹਨ, ਹਰ ਲੈਣ, ਪੋਖਣ ਅਰ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਹਨ, (ਭਾਵ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਰੱਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਨ)।
Beyond pleasures and sorrows he is creator, sustainer and destroyer.
ਰਸਕਸਰੂਪਨਰੇਖਿਵਿਚਿਰਾਗਰੰਗਨਿਰਲੇਪੁਰਹੰਦਾ।
ਰਸ, ਕਸ, ਰੂਪ, ਰੇਖ, ਰਾਗ, ਰੰਗ ਥੋਂ ਨਿਰਲੇਪ ਹਨ।
He is away from enjoyments, repulsions, forms and even being amidst festivities, he remains detached and stabilized.
ਗੋਸਟਿਗਿਆਨਅਗੋਚਰਾਬੁਧਿਬਲਬਚਨਬਿਬੇਕਨਛੰਦਾ।
ਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਗੋਸ਼ਟ (ਚਰਚਾ) ਥੋਂ ਅਵਿਖਯ ਹਨ। (ਇਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ) ਬੁਧਿ, ਬਲ, ਬਚਨ, ਬਿਬੇਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਛੰਦਗੀ (ਉਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲ ਸਕਦੇ)
Unapproable through discussions, he is beyond the powers of intellect, speech; wisdom and praise.
ਗੁਰਗੋਵਿੰਦੁਗੋਵਿੰਦੁਗੁਰੁਹਰਿਗੋਵਿੰਦੁਸਦਾਵਿਗਸੰਦਾ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ (ਰੂਪ ਹੈ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਰੂਪ ਹੈ, (ਐਸੇ ਇਕ ਮਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੈ।
Accepting Guru,(Arjan Dev) as God and God as Guru, Hargobind (the Guru)remains ever elated.
ਅਚਰਜਨੋਅਚਰਜਮਿਲੈਵਿਸਮਾਦੈਵਿਸਮਾਦਮਿਲੰਦਾ।
ਅਚਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਅਚਰਜ ਅਰ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਰੂਪ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਵਿਸਮਾਦ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾਏ)।
Being full of wonder he is absorbed in the supreme :Wonder and thus being awe inspired he remains immersed in supreme rapture , rapture.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਮਾਰਗਿਚਲਣਾਖੰਡੇਧਾਰਕਾਰਨਿਬਹੰਦਾ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਚੱਲਣਾ ਖੰਡੇ ਦੀ ਧਾਰਾ ਪੁਰ ਚੱਲਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਨਿਬਾਹੁਣ (ਵਾਲੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹਨ, ਭਾਵ ਐਸੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਨਿਭ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ)।
Moving on the way of gurmukhs is like treading on the edge of sword.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਲੈਗੁਰਸਿਖੁਚਲੰਦਾ।੨੧।
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਲੈਕੇ (ਜੋ) ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਮੰਜ਼ਲ ਪੁਰ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
Accepting the teachings of the Guru, the disciple adopts them in his life.
ਪਉੜੀ੨੨
ਹੰਸਹੁਹੰਸਗਿਆਨੁਕਰਿਦੁਧੈਵਿਚਹੁਕਢੈਪਾਣੀ।
ਹੰਸਾਂ (ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ) ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹ) ਹੰਸ ਹਨ (ਜਿਹੜੇ) ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਦੁਧ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ (ਝੂਠ) ਅੱਡ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The gurmukhs are those swans who on the basis of their knowledge sift water (falsehood) from milk (truth).
ਕਛਹੁਕਛੁਧਿਆਨਿਧਰਿਲਹਰਿਨਵਿਆਪੈਘੁੰਮਣਵਾਣੀ।
ਕੱਛੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ(ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਉਸ) ਕੱਛੂ (ਵਤ ਹਨ ਜੋ) ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਇਸ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਯਾ ਦੀ) ਘੁੰਮਣਘੇਰੀ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵ੍ਯਾਪ ਸਕਦੀ (ਯਥਾ “ਕੁੰਮੀ ਜਲ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਨ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪੰਖ ਖੀਰੁ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਹੀ॥........ਕਹੈ ਧੰਨਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਮਤ ਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਡਰਾਂਹੀ”)।
Among turtles, they are such ones who remain uninfluenced by waves and whirlpools.
ਕੂੰਜਹੁਕੂੰਜੁਵਖਾਣੀਐਸਿਮਰਣੁਕਰਿਉਡੈਅਸਮਾਣੀ।
(ਗੁਰੂ) ਕੂੰਜਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਉਸ) ਕੂੰਜ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਕਹੀਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਅਸਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਡਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ (ਬਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ) ਚਿੰਤਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
They are like siberian cranes who go on remembering the Lord while flying high.
ਗੁਰਪਰਚੈਗੁਰਜਾਣੀਐਗਿਆਨਿਧਿਆਨਿਸਿਮਰਣਿਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰੱਖੀਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ (ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਦ੍ਵਾਰਾ) ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ, (ਅਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਸਿਮਰਨ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ (ਦੁਆਰਾ) ਕਰੀਏ, (ਪੰਜਵੀਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਤਵੀਂ ਤੁਕ ਤੀਕ ਸਿਖ ਦਾ ਲੱਛਣ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Only by loving the Guru, the Sikh knows, understands and learns the knowledge, meditation and Gurbani, the holy hymns.
ਗੁਰਸਿਖਲੈਗੁਰਸਿਖਹੋਇਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਜਗਅੰਦਰਿਜਾਣੀ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹੋਣ (ਆਪ ਹੁਦਰੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ ਜਾਵਣ (ਭਾਵ ਜਿਥੇ ਦੇਖਣ, ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਕਰਣ ਉਥੇ ਜਾਕੇ)।
Having adopted the teachings of the Guru, the Sikhs become gursikhs, the Sikhs of the Guru, and join the holy congregation wherever they find it.
ਪੈਰੀਪੈਪਾਖਾਕਹੋਇਗਰਬੁਨਿਵਾਰਿਗਰੀਬੀਆਣੀ।
ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੌਣਾ ਕਰਣ, ਗਰਬ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਕੇ ਗਰੀਬੀ (ਮਨ ਵਿਖੇ) ਰੱਖਣਾ।
The humility could be cultivated only by bowing at the feet, becoming the dust of feet of the Guru and by deleting ego from the self.
ਪੀਚਰਣੋਦਕੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਵਾਣੀ।੨੨।
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਚਰਣਾਂਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਵੰਨੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਛਕਣ।
Only such persons take feet-wash of the Guru and their speech becomes nectar (for others).

ਰਹਿਦੇਗੁਰੁਦਰੀਆਉਵਿਚਿਮੀਨਕੁਲੀਨਹੇਤੁਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ।
ਨਿਰਵਾਨ (ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾਉਣ) ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਸਦਾ ਸਥਿਰ ਦਰਿਆਵੁ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਵਿਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੱਛੀ (ਦੇ ਦਰਯਾਉ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿਣ) ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਏ।
Liberating the soul from the body, Guru (Arjan Dev) stabilized himself in the water of river as the fish remains in water.
ਦਰਸਨੁਦੇਖਿਪਤੰਗਜਿਉਜੋਤੀਅੰਦਰਿਜੋਤਿਸਮਾਣੀ।
(ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ) ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਤੰਗੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ) ਜੋਤ ਜੋਤੀ (ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ) ਵਿਚ ਸਮਾ ਗਈ।
As the moth rows itself into the flame, his light mingled with light of the Lord.
ਸਬਦੁਸੁਰਤਿਲਿਵਮਿਰਗਜਿਉਭੀੜਪਈਚਿਤਿਅਵਰੁਨਆਣੀ।
(ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪੰਚਮ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਸੀਹਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਡਾਢੀ) ਭੀੜ ਪਈ (ਔਕੜ ਬਣੀ) ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਬੀ (ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ) ਜੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ, ਮ੍ਰਿਗ (ਜਿਸਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਕੜੀਨ ਲਗਾ ਘੰਡਾ ਹੇੜੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਦ ਪਰ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤ ਦੀ ਲਿਵ ਵਿਖੇ ਰਹੇ।
Caring of for life, as the deer keeps its consciousness concentrated when in peril, the Guru also, when undergoing suffering kept none else except the Lord in is' consciousness.
ਚਰਣਕਵਲਮਿਲਿਭਵਰਜਿਉਸੁਖਸੰਪਟਵਿਚਿਰੈਣਿਵਿਹਾਣੀ।
(ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਬੜੀ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਭਰੀ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਦਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਉਹ) ਰਾਤ (ਭੀ) ਭਵਰ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਵਿਰ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਹਿਕੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਡਬੋ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠਿਆਂ) ਬੀਤੀ (ਭਾਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆਂ, ਸਹਜਾਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ)।
As the black bee remains enrapt in the petals of flower • enjoy fragrance, the Guru also spent night of suffering by keeping joyfully s concentration on the feet of Lord.
ਗੁਰੁਉਪਦੇਸੁਨਵਿਸਰੈਬਾਬੀਹੇਜਿਉਆਖਵਖਾਣੀ।
(ਸ਼ੰਕਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਤਮ ਸੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਕੇਵਲ ਰਹੇ? ਨਹੀਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਬੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁਲਿਆ (ਆਤਮ ਸੁਆਸਾਂ ਤਕ ਬੀ) ਬਾਂਬੀਹੇ ਦੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ (ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ) ਵ੍ਯਾਖਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ।
The Guru like a rainbird spoke to his isciples that the teachings of the Guru should not be forgotten.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿਸੁਖਫਲੁਪਿਰਮਰਸੁਸਹਜਸਮਾਧਿਸਾਧਸੰਗਿਜਾਣੀ।
ਗੁਰਮੁਖ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਨੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ, ਸੁਖ ਰੂਪੀ ਫਲ, ਸਹਿਜ ਸਮਾਧ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਣੀ ਸੀ।
The pleasure it of the Gurmukh (Guru Arjan Dev) is the delight of love and he accepts the holy congregation as the natural state of meditation.
ਗੁਰਅਰਜਨਵਿਟਹੁਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ।੨੩।
ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਹਾਂ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਏਹ ਅਚਰਜ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੀ)।

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁਪੂਰਨਬ੍ਰਹਮਿਸਤਿਗੁਰਆਪੇਆਪੁਉਪਾਇਆ।
ਨਿਰਗੁਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨੇ ('ਪੂਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ') ਸਰਗੁਣ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ (ਨਾਨਕ ਅਥਵਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ) ਦੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਥੋਂ ਉਤਪਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
The true Guru has been created in the form of perfect Brahm by the transcendent Brahm. Guru is God and God is the Guru; two names are of the same supreme reality.
ਗੁਰੁਗੋਬਿੰਦੁਗੋਵਿੰਦੁਗੁਰੁਜੋਤਿਇਕਦੁਇਨਾਵਧਰਾਇਆ।
ਓਹੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਹੈ ਅਰ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ; ਨਾਮ ਦੋ ਹਨ, ਜੋਤ ਇਕ ਧਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
The son for the father and the father for the son created wonder by receiving the wondrous Word .
ਪੁਤੁਪਿਅਹੁਪਿਉਪੁਤਤੇਵਿਸਮਾਦਹੁਵਿਸਮਾਦੁਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
ਪਿਉ ਥੋਂ ਪੁੱਤ ਪੁੱਤ ਥੋਂ ਪਿਉ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਸੁਣਿਆਂ ਗਿਆ।
A wonderful beauty has been created in the action of tree becoming fruit and fruit the tree.
ਬਿਰਖਹੁਫਲੁਫਲਤੇਬਿਰਖੁਆਚਰਜਹੁਆਚਰਜੁਸੁਹਾਇਆ।
ਬ੍ਰਿੱਛ ਥੋਂ ਫਲ, ਫਲ ਥੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਿੱਛ, ਅਚਰਜ ਥੋਂ ਅਚਰਜ ਰੂਪ ਸ਼ੋਭਨੀਕ ਹੋਯਾ।
From the two banks of a river its true extent cannot be understood simply by saying that the one is far and the other near bank.
ਨਦੀਕਿਨਾਰੇਆਖੀਅਨਿਪੁਛੇਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁਨਪਾਇਆ।
ਨਦੀ ਕੰਢੇ (ਦੋ) ਕਹੀਦੇ (ਹਨ, ਪਾਰ ਤੇ ਉਰਾਰ ਪਰੰਤੂ ਦੁਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਪੁੱਛਣ ਤੇ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭਦਾ, (ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਰਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ, ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਰਾਰ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ)।
Guru Arjan Dev and Guru Hargobind are in fact one and the same.
ਹੋਰਨਿਅਲਖੁਨਲਖੀਐਗੁਰੁਚੇਲੇਮਿਲਿਅਲਖੁਲਖਾਇਆ।
ਹੋਰਨਾਂ (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਅਲੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਖਿਆ, (ਇਕ) ਚੇਲੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ) ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਅਰਜਨ ਨਾਲ) ਅਲੱਖ ਮਿਲਕੇ ਅਲੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਲਖ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। (ਚੇਲਾ ਕੌਣ ਹੈ? ਸੱਤਵੀਂ ਤੁਕ ਵਿਚ ਦੱਸਦੇ ਹਨ)।
None else can perceive the imperceptible Lord but the disciple (Hargobind) having met the Guru (Arjan Dev) has visualised the imperceptible Lord.
ਹਰਿਗੋਵਿੰਦੁਗੁਰੂਗੁਰੁਭਾਇਆ।੨੪।
ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਯਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਾ)।
Guru Hargobind is dear to the Lord who is the Guru of the Gurus.
ਪਉੜੀ੨੫
ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਨਾਨਕਦੇਉਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਿਆਕਾਰਬਣਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਹਨ, ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਆਕਾਰ ਬਣਾਯਾ ਹੈ।
The formless Lord assumed the form of Guru Nanak Dev who is second all forms.
ਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਦੁਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਤੇਗੰਗਹੁਜਾਣੁਤਰੰਗਉਠਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ, (ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ) 'ਅੰਗ' ਥੋਂ ਗੰਗਾ ਦੇ ਤਰੰਗ ਵਾਂਙ ਉਠਾਇਆ।
In turn, he created Afigad from his limbs as the waves e created by Ganges.
ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁਗੁਰੁਅੰਗਦਹੁਜੋਤਿਸਰੂਪਚਲਤੁਵਰਤਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਤੋਂ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰ ਜੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਕੌਤਕ ਵਰਤਾਯਾ।
From Guru Angad came Guru Amar Das and the miracle of the transference of the light was seen by one and all.
ਗੁਰੁਅਮਰਹੁਗੁਰੁਰਾਮਦਾਸੁਅਨਹਦਨਾਦਹੁਸਬਦੁਸੁਣਾਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰ ਜੀ ਥੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਹੋਏ, (ਮਾਨੋਂ) ਅਨਹਦ ਨਾਦ ਥੋਂ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਸੁਨਾਯਾ।
From. Guru ar Das Rim Das came into being in such a way as if the Word was ated from the unstruck sounds.
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਹੁਅਰਜਨੁਗੁਰੂਦਰਸਨੁਦਰਪਨਿਵਿਚਿਦਿਖਾਇਆ।
ਰਾਮਦਾਸਹੁੰ ਅਰਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੋਏ, ਜਿੱਕੁਰ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਬਿੰਬ ਦਿਖਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।
Guru Arjan Dev by Guru Ram 'Ws was ated as if he is the image of the latter in the mirror.
ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦਗੁਰਅਰਜਨਹੁਗੁਰੁਗੋਬਿੰਦਨਾਉਸਦਵਾਇਆ।
ਅਰਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਥੋਂ ਹਰਿਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਵਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
Being created by Guru Arjan Dev, Guru Hargobind made himself famous as the form of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੂਰਤਿਗੁਰਸਬਦੁਹੈਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿਵਿਚਿਪਰਗਟੀਆਇਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੂਰਤੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੈ, (ਜੋ) ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਖੇ (ਸਦਾ) ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਯਥਾ-'ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਰੇ'।)
In fact the physical body of the Guru is 'Word' of the Guru which comes perceptible only in the form of holy congregation.
ਪੈਰੀਪਾਇਸਭਜਗਤੁਤਰਾਇਆ।੨੫।੨੪।ਚਉਵੀਹ।
(ਐਉਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ) ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪਾਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਤਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
Thus, the true liberated the whole world making people bow at the Lord's feet.
