ਮਾਘਬਿਤੀਤਭਏਰੁਤਿਫਾਗੁਨਆਇਗਈਸਭਖੇਲਤਹੋਰੀ॥
ਮਾਘ (ਮਹੀਨੇ) ਦੇ ਬੀਤਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਫਗਣ ਰੁਤ ਆ ਗਈ, ਸਾਰੇ ਹੋਲੀ ਖੇਡਣ ਲਗੇ ਹਨ।
After the month of Magh, in the season of Phagun, all began to play Holi
ਗਾਵਤਗੀਤਬਜਾਵਤਤਾਲਕਹੈਮੁਖਤੇਭਰੂਆਮਿਲਿਹੋਰੀ॥
(ਉਹ) ਗੀਤ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾੜੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਬਾਲਕ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹੋਂ (ਹੋਲੀ ਦਾ) 'ਭੜੂਆ' ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
All the people gathered together in couples and sang songs with the playing of musical instruments
ਡਾਰਤਹੈਅਲਿਤਾਬਨਿਤਾਛਟਿਕਾਸੰਗਿਮਾਰਤਬੈਸਨਥੋਰੀ॥
ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ (ਬਾਲਕ) ਅਲਤਾ (ਗੁਲਾਲ) ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਿਚਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ (ਰੰਗ) ਛਿੜਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
Various colours were splashed on women and the women beat the men with staffs (with affection)
ਖੇਲਤਸ੍ਯਾਮਧਮਾਰਅਨੂਪਮਹਾਮਿਲਿਸੁੰਦਰਿਸਾਵਲਗੋਰੀ॥੨੨੫॥
ਸ਼ਿਆਮ (ਕਵੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸਾਂਵਲ ਗੋਰੀ ਮੂਰਤ (ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਤੇ ਬਲਰਾਮ) ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਧਮਾਰ ਖੇਡਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੨੨੫॥
The poet Shyam says that Krishna and beautiful damsels are together playing this tumultuous Holi.225.
ਅੰਤਬਸੰਤਭਏਰੁਤਿਗ੍ਰੀਖਮਆਇਗਈਹਰਖੇਲਮਚਾਇਓ॥
ਬਸੰਤ ਰੁੱਤ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਗ੍ਰੀਖਮ ਰੁਤ ਆ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਖੇਡ ਮਚਾਈ।
When the spring season ended, and with the beginning of the summer, Krishna began to play Holi with pomp and show
ਆਵਹੁਮਿਕਦੁਹੂੰਦਿਸਤੇਤੁਮਕਾਨ੍ਰਹਭਏਧਨਠੀਸੁਖਪਾਯੋ॥
ਕਾਨ੍ਹ (ਤੇ ਬਲਰਾਮ) ਆਪ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਟੋਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਬਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ (ਲੜਕਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
The people poured in from both sides and were pleased to see Krishna as their leader
ਦੈਤਪ੍ਰਲੰਬਬਡੋਕਪਟੀਤਬਬਾਲਕਰੂਪਧਰਿਯੋਨਜਨਾਯੋ॥
(ਇਕ) ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੈਂਤ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਪਟੀ ਸੀ। ਤਦੋਂ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਨਾ ਗਿਆ।
In all this tumult, a demon named Pralamb assuming the appearance of a youth came and mixed with other youths
ਕੰਧਚੜਾਇਹਲੀਕੋਉਡਿਓਤਿਨਿਮੂਕਨਸੋਧਰਿਮਾਰਿਗਿਰਾਯੋ॥੨੨੬॥
(ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ) ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਕੇ ਉਡ ਚਲਿਆ। (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ) ਮੁੱਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੨੬॥
He carried Krishna on his shoulder and flew Krihsna caused the fall of that demon with his fists.226.
ਕੇਸਵਰਾਮਭਏਧਨਠੀਮਿਕਬਾਲਕਏਤਬਹੀਸਭਪਿਆਰੇ॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ('ਕੇਸਵ') ਤੇ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮੁੱਖੀ ਬਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਦੋ ਟੋਲੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
Krishna became the leader and began to play with lovely boys
ਦੈਤਮਿਕਿਯੋਸੁਤਨੰਦਹਿਕੇਸੰਗਿਖੇਲਿਜਿਤ੍ਯੋਮੁਸਲੀਹਰਿਹਾਰੇ॥
(ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ) ਦੈਂਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਕਿਆ, ਖੇਡ ਵਿਚ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਜਿਤ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹਾਰ ਗਿਆ।
The demon also became the playmate of Krishna and in that play Balram won and Krishna was defeated
ਆਵਚੜੋਨਚੜਿਓਸੁਕਹਿਯੋਇਨਪੈਤਿਹਕੇਬਪੁਕੋਪਗਧਾਰੇ॥
ਤਾਂ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਆਓ (ਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਚੜ੍ਹੋ। (ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ) ਕਿਹਾ (ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੁਕ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ, (ਤਦ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ (ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਉਡ ਚਲਿਆ)।
Then Krishna asked Haldhar to mount on the body of that demon
ਮਾਰਿਗਿਰਾਇਦਯੋਧਰਨੀਪਰਬੀਰਬਡੋਉਨਮੂਕਨਮਾਰੇ॥੨੨੭॥
(ਉਸ ਵੱਡੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਡੇਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੨੨੭॥
Balram put his foot on his body and causing his fall, he threw him (on the ground) and with his fists killed him.227.
ਇਤਿਸ੍ਰੀਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਨਾਟਕੇਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇਪ੍ਰਲੰਬਦੈਤਬਧਹਿ॥
ਇਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਦੈਂਤ ਬਧਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਸਮਾਪਤ।

ਮਾਰਿਪ੍ਰਲੰਬਲਯੋਮੁਸਲੀਜਬਯਾਦਕਰੀਹਰਿਜੀਤਬਗਾਈ॥
ਜਦ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ, ਤਦ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ (ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ) ਗਊਆਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਕੀਤਾ।
Haldhar killed the demon Pralamb and called Krishna
ਚੂਮਨਲਾਗਤਬੈਬਛਰਾਮੁਖਧੇਨਵਹੈਉਨਕੀਅਰੁਮਾਈ॥
ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਗਊਆਂ ਵੱਛਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਚੁੰਮਣ ਲਗ ਪਈਆਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਾਂਵਾਂ ਸਨ।
Then Krishna kissed the faces of cows and calves
ਹੋਇਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ੍ਯਤਬੈਕਰੁਨਾਨਿਧਤਉਲੁਕਮੀਚਨਖੇਲਮਚਾਈ॥
(ਗਊਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤਦ ਲੁਕਣ-ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੀ ਖੇਡ ਖੇਡਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
Being pleased, the treasure of mercy (Krishna) began the play of “Hide and Seed
ਤਾਛਬਿਕੀਅਤਿਹੀਉਪਮਾਕਬਿਕੇਮਨਮੈਬਹੁਭਾਤਿਨਭਾਈ॥੨੨੮॥
ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੀ ਛਬਿ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਵੀ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਾਈ ਹੈ ॥੨੨੮॥
” This spectacle has been described by the poet in various ways.228.

ਬੈਠਿਕਰਿਗ੍ਵਾਰਆਖੈਮੀਚੈਏਕਗ੍ਵਾਰਹੂੰਕੀਛੋਰਿਦੇਤਤਾਕੋਸੋਤੋਅਉਰੋਗਹੈਧਾਇਕੈ॥
(ਇਕ) ਗਵਾਲ ਬਾਲਕ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਗਵਾਲ ਬਾਲਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮੀਟਦਾ ਹੈ (ਬਾਕੀ ਲੁਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ) ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ (ਅੱਖਾਂ) ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੌੜਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਂਹਦਾ ਹੈ।
One gopa boy closed the eyes of another boy and leaving him, he closes the eyes of another one
ਆਖੈਮੂੰਦਤਹੈਤਬਓਹੀਗੋਪਹੂੰਕੀਫੇਰਿਜਾਕੇਤਨਕੋਜੋਛੁਐਕਰਸਾਥਜਾਇਕੈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਉਹ) ਛੋਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਆ ਕੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮਿਟਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੋਹਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Then that boy closes the eyes of that boy who had been closing the eyes and whose body has been touched with hands
ਤਹਤੋਛਲਬਲਕੈਪਲਾਵੈਹਾਥਿਆਵੈਨਹੀਤਉਮਿਟਾਵੈਆਖੈਆਪਹੀਤੇਸੋਤੋਆਇਕੈ॥
(ਦੂਜੇ ਬਾਲਕ) ਛਲ ਬਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਤੋਂ) ਦੂਰ ਭਜਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਆਣ ਕੇ ਓਹੀ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮਿਟਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
Then with deception, he tries not to be touched with hand
