ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿਇਹਮੰਤ੍ਰਕਰਿਦਈਜੁਸਭਾਉਠਾਇ॥
ਜਰਾਸੰਧ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਭਾ ਨੂੰ ਉਠਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਅਪੁਨੇਅਪੁਨੇਗ੍ਰਿਹਗਏਰਾਜਾਅਤਿਸੁਖੁਪਾਇ॥੧੨੬੫॥
(ਸਾਰੇ ਯੋਧੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ (ਜਰਾਸੰਧ) ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੨੬੫॥
After holding these consultations, Jarasandh bade edieu t the court and the kings, getting pleased, went away to their homes.1265.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹਆਏਉਠਿਪਾਚਨ੍ਰਿਪਜਾਮਏਕਗਈਰਾਤਿ॥
ਇਕ ਪਹਿਰ ਰਾਤ ਬੀਤ ਗਈ, (ਤਾਂ) ਪੰਜ ਰਾਜੇ (ਸਭਾ ਤੋਂ) ਉਠ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਏ।
All the five kings came to their places and on this side one pahar of night had passed
ਤੀਨਪਹਰਸੋਏਨਹੀਝਾਕਤਹ੍ਵੈਗਯੋਪ੍ਰਾਤਿ॥੧੨੬੬॥
(ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ) ਤਿੰਨ ਪਹਿਰ ਵੀ ਸੁਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ, ਝਾਕਦਿਆਂ ਝਾਕਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋ ਗਈ ॥੧੨੬੬॥
They could not sleep for the remaining three pahars and in this way, the day dawned.1266.

ਪ੍ਰਾਤਕਾਲਭਯੋਅੰਧਕਾਰਮਿਟਿਗਯੋਕ੍ਰੋਧਸੂਰਨਕੋਭਯੋਰਥਸਾਜਕੈਸਬੈਚਲੇ॥
(ਜਦ) ਸਵੇਰ ਹੋਈ, ਹਨੇਰਾ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਥ ਸਜਾ ਕੇ ਚਲ ਪਏ।
The darkness (of night) ended with day-dawned, the warriors, in anger, and bedecking their chariots, started (for war)
ਇਤੈਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਇਬਲਿਦੇਵਜੂਬੁਲਾਇਮਨਿਮਹਾਸੁਖੁਪਾਇਜਦੁਬੀਰਸੰਗਿਲੈਭਲੇ॥
ਇਧਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਬਲਦੇਵ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਯਾਦਵ ਸੂਰਬੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ।
On this side, the Lord of Braja, in a state of supreme bliss in his mind, and calling Balram went (for war)
ਉਤੈਡਰੁਡਾਰਕੈਹਥਿਆਰਨਸੰਭਾਰਕੈਸੁਆਏਹੈਹਕਾਰਕੈਅਟਲਭਟਨਟਲੇ॥
ਉਧਰ ਡਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ, ਹਥਿਆਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਕਦੇ ਨਾ ਟਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਲਲਕਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਆ ਗਏ।
On that side also, forsaking fear and holding their weapons, the warriors moved forward shouting loudly
ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨਧਵਾਇਸੰਖਦੁੰਦਭਿਬਜਾਇਦ੍ਵੈਤਰੰਗਨੀਕੇਭਾਇਦਲਆਪਸਬਿਖੈਰਲੇ॥੧੨੬੭॥
ਰਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾ ਕੇ, ਧੌਂਸਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ (ਦੋ) ਨਦੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਸੈਨਾ-ਦਲ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਗਏ ॥੧੨੬੭॥
Driving their chariots, blowing their conches and beating small drums and riding int heir horses, both the armies fell upon each other.1267.

ਸ੍ਯੰਦਨਪੈਹਰਿਸੋਭਿਯੈਅਮਿਤਤੇਜਕੀਖਾਨ॥
ਅਮਿਤ ਤੇਜ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਰਥ ਉਤੇ ਸ਼ੁਭਾਇਮਾਨ ਹਨ।
Krishna, sitting in his chariots looked splendid like the mine of unlimited light
ਕੁਮਦਿਨਜਾਨਿਓਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾਕੰਜਨਮਾਨਿਓਭਾਨ॥੧੨੬੮॥
(ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ) ਕੰਮੀਆਂ (ਕਮਲਨੀਆਂ) ਨੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਸਮਝਿਆ ॥੧੨੬੮॥
The the asphodels considered him as moon and the lotus flowers considered him as sun.1268.

ਘਨਜਾਨਕੈਮੋਰਨਚਿਓਬਨਮਾਝਚਕੋਰਲਖਿਯੋਸਸਿਕੇਸਮਹੈ॥
(ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ) ਮੋਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਦਲ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਬਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਚਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਚਕੋਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਨ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ,
The peacocks, considering him as cloud, began to dance, partridges considered him as moon and danced in the forest
ਮਨਿਕਾਮਿਨਕਾਮਸਰੂਪਭਯੋਪ੍ਰਭਦਾਸਨਜਾਨਿਯੋਨਰੋਤਮਹੈ॥
ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮ ਰੂਪ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਰੋਤਮ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ।
The women thought that he was the god of love and the servant-maids considered him as a superb human
ਬਰਜੋਗਨਜਾਨਿਜੁਗੀਸੁਰਈਸੁਰਰੋਗਨਮਾਨਿਯੋਸਦਾਛਮਹੈ॥
ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਜੋਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੁਗੀਸਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰੋਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਤਮ ਵੈਦ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ।
The Yogis thought that he was a Supreme Yogi and the ailments thought that he was the remedy
ਹਰਿਬਾਲਨਬਾਲਕਰੂਪਲਖਿਯੋਜੀਯਦੁਜਨਜਾਨਿਯੋਮਹਾਜਮਹੈ॥੧੨੬੯॥
ਬਾਲਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲਕ ਰੂਪ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਯਮਰਾਜ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੬੯॥
The children considered him as child and the wicked people saw him as death.1269.
ਚਕਵਾਨਦਿਨੇਸਗਜਾਨਗਨੇਸਗਨਾਨਮਹੇਸਮਹਾਤਮਹੈ॥
ਚਕਵਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੂਰਜ, ਦਿਗਜਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਣੇਸ਼, ਗਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਹੇਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਮਹਾਤਮ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ।
The ducks considered him as the sun, the elephants as Ganesh and the Ganas as Shiva
ਮਘਵਾਧਰਨੀਹਰਿਜਿਉਹਰਿਨੀਉਪਮਾਬਰਨੀਨਕਛੂਸ੍ਰਮਹੈ॥
ਧਰਤੀ ਨੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਲੱਛਮੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ (ਅਰਥਾਂਤਰ ਹਿਰਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਿਰਨ) ਵਰਗਾ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
He seemed to be like Indra, earth and Vishnu, but he also looked like an innocent doe
ਮ੍ਰਿਗਜੂਥਨਨਾਦਸਰੂਪਭਯੋਜਿਨਕੇਨਬਿਬਾਦਤਿਨੈਦਮਹੈ॥
ਹਿਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਡਾਰ ਨੇ ਘੰਡਾਹੇੜੇ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਮਹਿਸੂਸ) ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ 'ਦਮ' (ਪ੍ਰਾਣ) ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
For the deer, he was like the horn and for the men sans strifes, he was like life-breath
ਨਿਜਮੀਤਨਮੀਤਹ੍ਵੈਚੀਤਿਬਸਿਓਹਰਿਸਤ੍ਰਨਿਜਾਨਿਯੋਮਹਾਜਮਹੈ॥੧੨੭੦॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਤਰ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਮ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੭੦॥
For the friends, he was like a friend abiding in mind and for the enemies, he looked like Yama.1270.

ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਸੈਨਾਵਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਜੁਧੁਕਰਤਹੈਬੀਰਬਰਰਨਦੁੰਦਭੀਬਜਾਇ॥੧੨੭੧॥
ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਯੋਧੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਵਜਾ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੨੭੧॥
The armies of both the sides, in great anger, gathered together and the warriors playing upon their trumpets etc. began to wage war.1271.

ਧੂਮਧੁਜਮਨਧਉਰਧਰਾਧਰਸਿੰਘਸਬੈਰਨਿਕੋਪਕੈਆਏ॥
ਧੂਮ (ਸਿੰਘ) ਧੁਜਾ (ਸਿੰਘ) ਮਨ (ਸਿੰਘ) ਧਉਰ (ਸਿੰਘ) ਧਰਾਧਰ ਸਿੰਘ (ਆਦਿ) ਸਾਰੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
The kings namely Dhum, Dhvaja, Man, Dhaval And Dharadhar Singh, in great fury, reached the battlefield
ਲੈਕਰਵਾਰਨਢਾਲਕਰਾਲਹ੍ਵੈਸੰਕਤਜੀਹਰਿਸਾਮੁਹੇਧਾਏ॥
ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਢਾਲਾਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗ ਸੰਕੋਚ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਭਜ ਕੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ।
They ran before Krishna, forsaking all their illusions, taking their shields and swords in their hands
ਦੇਖਿਤਿਨੈਤਬਹੀਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜਹਲੀਸੋਕਹਿਯੋਸੁਕਰੋਮਨਿਭਾਏ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਓਹੀ ਕਰੋ।
Seeing them, Krishna said to Balram, “Now do, whatever you wish
ਧਾਇਬਲੀਬਲਿਲੈਕਰਮੈਹਲਿਪਾਚਨਕੇਸਿਰਕਾਟਿਗਿਰਾਏ॥੧੨੭੨॥
ਬਲੀ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਹਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੨੭੨॥
The mighty Balram, taking his plough in his hand, chopped the heads of all the five and threw them on the ground.1272.

ਦ੍ਵੈਅਛੂਹਨੀਦਲਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਪਾਚੋਹਨੇਰਿਸਾਇ॥
ਗੁੱਸੇ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਦੋ ਅਛੋਹਣੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਸਮੇਤ ਪੰਜੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
ਏਕਦੋਇਜੀਵਤਬਚੇਰਨਤਜਿਗਏਪਰਾਇ॥੧੨੭੩॥
ਇਕ ਦੋ (ਯੋਧੇ ਜੋ) ਜੀਵਿਤ ਬਚੇ, ਉਹ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧੨੭੩॥
Two supreme divisions of army and all the five kings were killed and those one or two who survived, left the war-arena and ran away.1273.
ਇਤਿਸ੍ਰੀਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਨਾਟਕਗ੍ਰੰਥੇਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਾਵਤਾਰੇਜੁਧਪ੍ਰਬੰਧੇਪਾਚਭੂਪਦੋਅਛੂਹਨੀਦਲਸਹਿਤਬਧਹਧਯਾਹਿਸਮਾਪਤੰ॥

ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ, ਦੰਦ ਪੀਹ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ।
When the twelve kings saw this situation, they began to grind their teeth in great anger
ਧਰੀਆਸਬਹੀਬਰਅਤ੍ਰਨਕੇਬਹੁਸਸਤ੍ਰਨਕੈਦਲਬਾਟਿਦੀਯੋ॥
ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ, (ਫਿਰ) ਦਲ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਵੰਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
They trusted their arms and weapons and distributed them amongst their forces
ਮਿਲਿਆਪਬਿਖੈਤਿਨਮੰਤ੍ਰਕੀਯੋਕਰਿਕੈਅਤਿਛੋਭਸੋਤਾਤੋਹੀਯੋ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਛਾਤੀਆਂ ਸੜਨ ਲਗ ਗਈਆਂ।
Then all of them held consultations
ਲਰਿਹੈਮਰਿਹੈਭਵਕੋਤਰਿਹੈਜਸਸਾਥਭਲੋਪਲਏਕਜੀਯੋ॥੧੨੭੪॥
(ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੇ) ਜੋ ਲੜਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਯਸ਼ ਸਹਿਤ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਜੀਉਣਾ ਵੀ ਸ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੭੪॥
Their hearts were in great anguish, they said, “We shall fight, die and ferry across the ocean of samsara, because even one praiseworthy instant of our life is superb.1274.
ਯੌਮਨਮੈਧਰਿਆਇਅਰੇਸੁਘਨੋਦਲੁਲੈਹਰਿਪੇਖਿਹਕਾਰੋ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਧਾਰਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਡਟ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਲਲਕਾਰਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ।
ਯਾਹੀਹਨੇਨ੍ਰਿਪਪਾਚਅਬੈਹਮਸੰਗਲਰੋਹਰਿਭ੍ਰਾਤਿਤੁਮਾਰੋ॥
ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ! ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਇਸ ਭਰਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜ ਰਾਜੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਨ, ਹੁਣ (ਆ ਕੇ) ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰੋ।
Thinking this in their mind and bringing sufficient army, they came and began to challenge Krishna, “This Balram has already killed the five kings and now O Krishna! tell your brother to fight with us,
ਨਾਤਰਆਇਭਿਰੋਤੁਮਹੂੰਨਹਿਆਯੁਧਛਾਡਕੈਧਾਮਿਸਿਧਾਰੋ॥
ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਆ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਸੁਟ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ।
“Otherwise you come to fight with us or leave the war-arena and go home
ਜੋਤੁਮਮੈਬਲੁਹੈਘਟਿਕਾਲਰਿਕੈਲਖਿਲੈਪੁਰਖਤਹਮਾਰੋ॥੧੨੭੫॥
ਜੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਬਲ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਕ ਘੜੀ ਭਰ ਲੜ ਕੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਲੈ ॥੧੨੭੫॥
