ਉਹਕੋਬਹੁਅਸਤ੍ਰਸਹੈਤਨਮੈਅਪਨੇਉਹਿਊਪਰਸਸਤ੍ਰਕਰੈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਤਨ ਉਤੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਾਰ ਕਰੇ।
Krishna said loudly within his army, “Who is that warrior, who will fight with the enemy? Who will endure the blows of his arms and inflict blows on him with his weapons?”
ਨਿਜਪਾਨਮੈਪਾਨਧਰੇਘਨਸ੍ਯਾਮਸੁਕੋਇਨਬੀਰਨਲਾਜਧਰੈ॥
ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਨ (ਦਾ ਬੀੜਾ ਲਏ ਖੜੋਤੇ) ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ (ਸੋਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ) ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਲਾਜ ਪਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਰਨਮੈਜਸਕੋਸੋਊਟੀਕੋਲਹੈਸਮਰੇਸਕੇਜੁਧਤੇਨਾਹਿਟਰੈ॥੧੨੯੦॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਯਸ਼ ਦਾ ਟਿਕਾ ਓਹੀ ਲਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰਨੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਲੇਗਾ ॥੧੨੯੦॥
Krishna was holding the betal leaf in his hand, so that some warrior may take up this responsibility, but none of the warriors thought of his honour and custom, the frontal mark of approbation will only be obtained by him, who will not run while fighting

ਬਹੁਤ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਨੇ (ਬਹੁਤ) ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੀ।
ਆਹਵਸਿੰਘਬਲੀਹੁਤੋਮਾਗਲੀਏਤਿਹਪਾਨ॥੧੨੯੧॥
(ਆਖਿਰ ਇਕ) ਆਹਵ ਸਿੰਘ (ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਯੋਧਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਨ (ਦਾ ਬੀੜਾ) ਮੰਗ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੨੯੧॥
Many warriors have fought a great deal and the mighty Ahav Singh from amongst them asked for that betal leaf.1291.

ਇਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੁਆਲ ਕਰੇ ਕਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ (ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਆਪ) ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜਦੇ।
ਯਹਉਤਰਹੈਤਾਹਿਕੋਕਉਤੁਕਦੇਖਨਕਾਜ॥੧੨੯੨॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਉੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ (ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ) ਕੌਤਕ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ (ਆਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜ ਰਹੇ) ॥੧੨੯੨॥
Some may raise a question here – Why Krishna, the Lord of Braja, does not fight himself? The answer is – He is doing this only to see the sport himself.1292.

ਆਹਵਸਿੰਘਬਲੀਹਰਿਕੋਭਟਸੋਤਿਹਉਪਰਕੋਪਕੈਧਾਯੋ॥
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦਾ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਆਹਵ ਸਿੰਘ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ (ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ) ਉਪਰ ਭਜ ਕੇ ਪਿਆ।
Ahav Singh, the warrior of Krishna, in his fury, fell upon Samar Singh and
ਸੰਘਰਸਿੰਘਹਠੀਹਠਿਸਿਉਨਹਟਿਯੋਸੁਤਹਾਅਤਿਜੁਧੁਮਚਾਯੋ॥
ਹਠੀ ਸੰਘਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਠ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਡਟਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ) ਨਾ ਟਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਯੁੱਧ ਮਚਾਇਆ।
On the other side Samar Singh was very persistent, he also gave a terrible fight
ਆਹਵਸਿੰਘਕੋਸੰਘਰਸਿੰਘਮਹਾਅਸਿਲੈਸਿਰਕਾਟਿਗਿਰਾਯੋ॥
ਸੰਘਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਹਵ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
With his heavy dagger Samar Singh chopped Ahav Singh and knocked him down on the ground
ਐਸੇਪਰਿਯੋਧਰਿਪੈਧਰਮਾਨਹੁਬਜ੍ਰਪਰਿਯੋਭੂਅਕੰਪੁਜਨਾਯੋ॥੧੨੯੩॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਧੜ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਇੰਜ ਡਿਗ ਪਿਆ ਮਾਨੋ ਬਜ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਪੈਣ ਨਾਲ ਭੂਚਾਲ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੨੯੩॥
His trunk fell on the ground like a Vajra, as a result of which the earth trembled.1293.

ਭੂਪਅਨਰੁਧਸਿੰਘਠਾਢੋਹੁਤੋਸ੍ਯਾਮਤੀਰਹਰਿਜੂਬਿਲੋਕਕੈਨਿਕਟਿਬੋਲਿਲਯੋਹੈ॥
ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਕੋਲ ਰਾਜਾ ਅਨਰੁਧ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੜੋਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕੋਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
The king Aniruddh Singh was standing near Krishna, seeing him, Krishna called him
ਕੀਨੋਸਨਮਾਨਘਨਸ੍ਯਾਮਕਹਿਯੋਜਾਹੁਤੁਮਰਥਹਿਧਵਾਇਚਲਿਯੋਰਨਮਾਝਗਯੋਹੈ॥
ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ, (ਫਿਰ) ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, 'ਤੂੰ (ਜੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਜਾ'। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾ ਕੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ।
Giving him great respect, he asked him to go for fighting, receiving the command, he entered the war-arena
ਤੀਰਤਰਵਾਰਨਕੋਸੈਥੀਜਮਦਾਰਨਕੋਘਟਕਾਦੁਇਤਿਹੀਠਉਰਮਹਾਜੁਧੁਭਯੋਹੈ॥
ਤੀਰਾਂ, ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ, ਸੈਹਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਟਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਇਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ) ਦੋ ਘੜੀਆਂ ਤਕ ਉਥੇ ਘੋਰ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ।
A violent war was fought there with arrows, swords and lances
ਜੈਸੇਸਿੰਘਮ੍ਰਿਗਕੋਸਿਚਾਨੋਜੈਸੇਚਿਰੀਆਕੋਤੈਸੇਹਰਿਬੀਰਕੋਸਮਰਸਿੰਘਹਯੋਹੈ॥੧੨੯੪॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹਿਰਨ ਨੂੰ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਾਜ਼ ਚਿੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੨੯੪॥
Just like a lion kills a deer or a falcon kills a sparrow, in the same manner this warrior of Krishna was killed by Samar Singh.1294.
ਜੈਸੇਕੋਊਅਉਖਦਿਕੇਬਲਕਬਿਸ੍ਯਾਮਕਹੈਦੂਰਕਰੇਸਤਿਬੈਦਰੋਗਸੰਨਿਪਾਤਕੋ॥
ਕਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਵੈਦ, ਔਸ਼ਧੀ ਦੇ ਬਲ ਤੇ ਸੰਨਪਾਤ (ਸਿਰਸਾਮ) ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੈਸੇਕੋਊਸੁਕਬਿਕੁਕਬਿਕੇਕਬਿਤਸੁਨਿਸਭਾਬੀਚਦੂਖਿਕਰਿਮਾਨਤਨਬਾਤਕੋ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਕਵੀ, ਅਨਾੜੀ ਕਵੀ ਦੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ।
The poet Shyam says, just as someone removes a grave ailment with the help of medicine or a good poet on listening to a poem of poetaster does not appreciate it in the gathering,
ਜੈਸੇਸਿੰਘਨਾਗਕੋਹਨਤਜਲਆਗਕੋਅਮਲਸੁਰਰਾਗਕੋਸਚਿੰਤਨਰਗਾਤਕੋ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਹਾਥੀ ਨੂੰ, ਜਲ ਅੱਗ ਨੂੰ, ਖਟਾਸ ਰਾਗ ਦੀ ਸੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Just as a lion destroys a snake and the water destroys the fire or the intoxicating objects destroy a melodious throat,
ਤੈਸੇਤਤਕਾਲਹਰਿਬੀਰਮਾਰਡਾਰਿਯੋਜੈਸੇਲੋਭਹੂੰਤੇਮਹਾਗੁਨਿਨਾਸੈਤਮਪ੍ਰਾਤਕੋ॥੧੨੯੫॥
ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੁਰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਭ ਤੋਂ ਉਤਮ ਗੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਭਜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੯੫॥
In the same manner this warrior of Krishna was also killed by Samar Singh, the life-force went out from his body like the virtues speeding away on account of greed or the darkness running away at day-dawn.1295
ਬੀਰਭਦ੍ਰਸਿੰਘਬਾਸੁਦੇਵਸਿੰਘਬੀਰਸਿੰਘਬਲਸਿੰਘਕੋਪਕਰਿਅਰਿਸਮੁਹੇਭਏ॥
ਬੀਰਭਦ੍ਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਬਲਦੇਵ ਸਿੰਘ, ਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਬਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
