ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਥੇ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਖੜੋਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਚਾਰੇ) ਅੱਗ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
On seeing Samar Singh, standing in the battlefield, they blazed like fire
ਆਯੁਧਸੰਭਾਰਿਲੀਨੇਜੁਧਮੈਸਬੈਪ੍ਰਬੀਨੇਸ੍ਯਾਮਜੂਕੇਬੀਰਚਾਰੋਓਰਹੂੰਤੇਆਖਏ॥
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ਸਨ, (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆ ਪਏ।
ਤਾਹੀਸਮੇਬਲਵਾਨਤਾਨਕੇਕਮਾਨਬਾਨਚਾਰੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਹਰਿਜੂਕੇਮਾਰਿਛਿਨਮੈਲਏ॥੧੨੯੬॥
ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਬਲਵਾਨ (ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਬਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਸ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਚੌਹਾਂ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਛਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੨੯੬॥
Holding their weapons, these skillful warriors of Krishna fell upon Samar Singh from all the four sides, at the same time, that mighty warrior pulled his bow and knocked down all the four warrior (kings) of Krishna in an instant.1296.

ਜਦੋਂ ਚਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ, ਤਦ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਲਗੇ,
ਅਬਕੋਭਟਹੈਹਮਰੇਦਲਮੈਇਹਸਾਮੁਹੇਜਾਇਕੈਜੁਧਕਰੈ॥
ਸਾਡੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੁਣ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਹੈ (ਜੋ) ਇਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰੇ।
When all the four warriors were killed in the war, then Krishna said to the other warriors, “Who is now so powerful to confront the enemy,
ਅਤਿਹੀਬਲਵਾਨਸੋਧਾਇਕੈਜਾਇਕੈਘਾਇਕਰੈਸੁਲਰੈਨਡਰੈ॥
ਜੋ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਵੱਡਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਭਜ ਕੇ ਜਾਏ, (ਵੈਰੀ ਉਤੇ) ਵਾਰ ਕਰੇ ਅਤੇ (ਖ਼ੂਬ) ਲੜੇ, (ਬਿਲਕੁਲ) ਨਾ ਡਰੇ।
ਸਬਸਿਉਇਮਸ੍ਯਾਮਪੁਕਾਰਿਕਹਿਯੋਕੋਊਹੈਅਰਿਕੋਬਿਨੁਪ੍ਰਾਨਕਰੈ॥੧੨੯੭॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਜੋ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੧੨੯੭॥
“And falling upon this extremely mighty warrior Samar Sigh and kill him while fighting fearlessly with him?” Krishna said to all of them loudly, “Is there anyone who can make the enemy lifeless?”1297.
ਰਾਛਸਥੋਇਕਸ੍ਯਾਮਕੀਓਰਸੋਊਚਲਕੈਅਰਿਓਰਪਧਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਰਾਖਸ਼ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਚਲ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਵਲ ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ।
There was one demon in the army of Krishna, who marched forward towards the enemy
ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾਤਿਹਨਾਮਕਹੈਜਗਸੋਤਿਹਸੋਇਹਭਾਤਿਉਚਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਜਗਤ 'ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ' ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ (ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,
His name was Karurdhvaja, he said to Samar Singh on going near him,
ਮਾਰਤਹੋਰੇਸੰਭਾਰੁਅਬੈਕਹਿਯਾਬਤੀਯਾਧਨੁਬਾਨਸੰਭਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਹੇ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ! ਤੂੰ) ਸੰਭਲ ਜਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣੇ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਬਾਣ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਲਿਆ।
“I am going to kill you, therefore save yourself
ਤਾਸਮਰੇਸਕੋਬਾਨਹਨਿਯੋਰਹਿਯੋਠਉਰਮਨੋਕਈਦਿਵਸਕੋਮਾਰਿਯੋ॥੧੨੯੮॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰਿਆ, (ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਲਗਣ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ) ਥਾਂ ਰਿਹਾ, ਮਾਨੋ ਕਈ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੨੯੮॥
” Saying this, he held out his bow and arrows and knocked down Samar Singh, who seemed to have lain dead for several days.1298.

ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਸਕਤਿਸਿੰਘਕੇਬਧਨਕੋਬਹੁਰਰਹਿਓਪਗੁਰੋਪਿ॥੧੨੯੯॥
ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਫਿਰ ਪੈਰ ਗਡ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੨੯੯॥
In this way, Karurdhvaja killed Samar Singh in his fury in the battlefield and now he stabilized himself to kill Shakti Singh.1299.

ਗਿਰਿਸੋਦਿਖਾਈਦੇਤਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਆਹਵਮੈਕਹੈਕਬਿਰਾਮਸਤ੍ਰਬਧਕੋਚਹਤਹੈ॥
ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਬਤ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਿਸ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਵੀ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Karurdhvaja seems like a mountain in the battlefield
ਸੁਨਿਰੇਸਕਤਿਸਿੰਘਮਾਰਿਯੋਜਿਉਸਮਰਸਿੰਘਤੈਸੇਹਉਹਨਿਹੋਤੂਹਮਸੋਖਹਤਹੈ॥
(ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ) ਹੇ ਸਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ! ਸੁਣ, ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਮਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਖਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
The poet Ram says that he is ready to kill the enemies and is saying, "O Shakti Singh! The manner in which I have killed Samar Singh, I shall kill you in the same manner, because you are fighting with me
ਐਸੇਕਹਿਗਦਾਗਹਿਬੜੇਬ੍ਰਿਛਕੇਸਮਾਨਲੀਨਅਸਿਪਾਨਿਅਉਰਸਸਤ੍ਰਨਿਸਹਤਹੈ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਛ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਗਦਾ ਪਕੜ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਸਹਿਤ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਵੀ ਫੜ ਲਈ।
Saying thus, taking his mace and sword in his hand, he is enduring the blows of the enemy like a tree
ਬਹੁਰੋਪੁਕਾਰਿਦੈਤਕਹਿਯੋਹੈਨਿਹਾਰਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੋਮੈਕੋਊਘਰੀਪਲਜੀਵਨਰਹਤਹੈ॥੧੩੦੦॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਾ (ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ!) ਵੇਖ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਘੜੀ ਪਲ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੩੦੦॥
The demon Karurdhvaja is again saying loudly to the king Shakti singh, “O King! the life-force is now within you for a very short time.”1300

ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੋਲਿਆ।
ਜਾਨਤਹੋਘਨਕ੍ਵਾਰਕੋਗਰਜਤਬਰਸਿਨਆਇ॥੧੩੦੧॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਤਕ (ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ) ਦੇ ਬਦਲ ਗਰਜਦੇ (ਹਨ ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਦਾ ਵਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ ॥੧੩੦੧॥
On listening to the words of the enemy, Shakti Singh said in anger, “I know that the clouds of the month of Kavar thunder, but do not cause rain.”1301.

ਯੌਸੁਨਿਕੈਤਿਹਬਾਤਨਿਸਾਚਰਜੀਅਪੁਨੇਅਤਿਕੋਪਭਰਿਓ॥
ਉਸ (ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ) ਦੀ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ, ਦੈਂਤ (ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ) ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਗਿਆ।
ਅਸਿਲੈਤਿਹਸਾਮੁਹੇਆਇਅਰਿਯੋਸਕਤੇਸਬਲੀਨਹੀਨੈਕੁਡਰਿਓ॥
ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਡਟ ਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਡਰਿਆ।
Hearing this, the demon got highly infuriated and on this side Shakti Singh, also taking up his sword stood fearlessly and firmly before him
ਬਹੁਜੁਧਕੈਅੰਤਰਿਧਿਆਨਭਯੋਨਭਿਮੈਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਯੋਤੇਉਚਰਿਓ॥
(ਦੈਂਤ) ਬਹੁਤ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲੁਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਫਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੋਂ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ।
After a great deal of fighting, that demon disappeared and manifesting himself in the sky, said this,
ਅਬਤੋਹਿਸੰਘਾਰਿਤਹੋਪਲਮੈਧਨੁਬਾਨਸੰਭਾਰਕੈਪਾਨਿਧਰਿਓ॥੧੩੦੨॥
(ਮੈਂ) ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣੇ ਪਲ ਭਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਬਾਣ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਫੜ ਲਏ ॥੧੩੦੨॥
“O Shakti Singh! now I am going to kill you” saying thus, he held up his bow and arrows.1302.

ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਤਰ ਆਇਆ।
ਪੁਨਿਆਯੋਰਨਭੂਮਿਮੈਅਧਿਕਲਰਿਯੋਬਰਸੂਰ॥੧੩੦੩॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਯੋਧਾ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਨ ਲਗ ਗਿਆ ॥੧੩੦੩॥
Showering his arrows, Karurdhvaja descended from the sky and entering the battlefield again that mighty warrior fought more terribly.1303.

ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਯੋਧਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਹੀਤਜਿਸੰਕਨਿਸੰਕਭਯੋਸਕਤੇਸਸੰਘਾਰਬੇਕੋਸਰਖਿਓਹੈ॥
ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੀ ਸੰਗ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਿਆ।
Killing the warriors that powerful demon was extremely pleased and with a firm mind marched forward in order to kill Shakti Singh
ਜਿਉਚਪਲਾਚਮਕੈਦਮਕੈਬਰਿਚਾਪਲੀਯੋਕਰਮੈਕਰਖਿਓਹੈ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਚਮਕਦੀ ਦਮਕਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਮਕ ਵਾਲਾ) ਉੱਤਮ ਧਨੁਸ਼ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ।
Like the flash of lightning, the bow in his hand became mercurial and its twang was audible
ਮੇਘਪਰੇਬਰਬੂੰਦਨਜਿਉਸਰਜਾਲਕਰਾਲਨਿਤਿਉਬਰਖਿਓਹੈ॥੧੩੦੩॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਕਣੀਆਂ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਭਿਆਨਕ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥੧੩੦੩॥
Just as the rain-drops come from the clouds, in the same manner there was shower of arrows.1304.

ਪਗਨਟਰਿਓਬਰਬੀਰਸਕਤਿਸਿੰਘਧੁਜਕ੍ਰੂਰਤੇ॥
ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਪੈਰ ਪਿਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਾਇਆ।
ਅਚਲਰਹਿਓਰਨਧੀਰਜਿਉਅੰਗਦਰਾਵਨਸਭਾ॥੧੩੦੫॥
ਇਹ ਰਣਧੀਰ (ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਚਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰਾਵਣ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਗਦ (ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ) ॥੧੩੦੫॥
Shakti Singh did not retrace even one step in his fight with Karurdhvaja and the manner in which Angad stood firmly in the court of Ravana, in the same manner, he also remained firm.1305.

ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਣ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਭਜਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ, ਸਗੋਂ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਿਆ।
ਜਾਲਜਿਤੋਅਰਿਕੇਸਰਕੋਤਬਹੀਅਗਨਾਯੁਧਸਾਥਪ੍ਰਜਾਰਿਯੋ॥
ਵੈਰੀ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹਾਇਆ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਅਗਨੀ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The mighty warrior Shakti Singh did not run away from the battlefield and the snare of the arrows created by the enemy was intercepted by him with his fire-shafts
ਪਾਨਿਲਯੋਧਨੁਬਾਨਰਿਸਾਇਕੈਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾਸਿਰਕਾਟਿਉਤਾਰਿਯੋ॥
(ਫਿਰ) ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਬਾਣ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੂਰਧੁਜਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਕਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
In his rage, he took up his bow and arrows and knocked down the head of Karurdhvaja

ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਬਲ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਬ੍ਰਿਤਰਾਸੁਰ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ ॥੧੩੦੬॥
