(ਤਦ) ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਜਲ ਦਾ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਚਲਾਇਆ

ਜੋ ਛੁਟ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਉਪਰ ਆਇਆ।
Then Krishna discharged his Varunastra (arm in relation to god Varuna), which hit the king Kharag Singh
ਬਰੁਨਸਿੰਘਮੂਰਤਿਧਰਿਆਏ॥
ਵਰੁਨ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਸ਼ੇਰ) ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ
ਸਰਿਤਨਕੀਸੈਨਾਸੰਗਿਲਿਯਾਏ॥੧੪੮੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆਇਆ ॥੧੪੮੨॥
Varuna reached there, assuming the form of a lion and brought with him the army of streams.1482.
ਆਵਤਸਿੰਘਨਸਬਦਸੁਨਾਯੋ॥
ਆਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਸ਼ੂਰਵੀਰ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ (ਬੋਲ) ਸੁਣਾਇਆ,
ਬਾਰਿਰਾਜਅਤਿਰਿਸਕਰਿਧਾਯੋ॥
(ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਤੇਰੇ ਉਪਰ) ਵਰੁਨ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
On arrival, Varuna blew the horn (roaring like a lion) and in fury fell upon the king
ਸੁਨਤਸਬਦਕਾਪੇਪੁਰਤੀਨੋ॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਤਿਨੋ ਲੋਕ ਕੰਬ ਗਏ ਹਨ
ਇਨਨ੍ਰਿਪਮਨਮੈਤ੍ਰਾਸਨਕੀਨੋ॥੧੪੮੩॥
ਪਰ ਇਸ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਡਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੮੩॥
Listening to the dreadful roar, all the three worlds trembled, but the king Kharag Singh did not become fearful.1483.

ਬਾਨਨਸੰਗਜਲਾਧਿਪਕੋਕਵਿਸ੍ਯਾਮਭਨੇਤਨਤਾੜਨਕੀਨੋ॥
ਕਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵਰੁਨ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ (ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਕੁਟਾਪਾ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇਆ।
With his lance-like arrows, the king slashed the body of Varuna
ਸਾਤਹੁਸਿੰਧਨਕੋਰਿਸਕੈਸਰਜਾਲਨਸਿਉਉਰਛੇਦਕੈਦੀਨੋ॥
ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਛੜ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਛਾਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਸੁਟਿਆ।
The king, in great fury pierced the heart of the seven oceans
ਘਾਇਲਹੈਸਰਿਤਾਸਗਰੀਬਹੁਸ੍ਰੋਨਤਸੋਤਿਹਕੋਅੰਗਭੀਨੋ॥
ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਾਇਲ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਹੂ ਲੁਹਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Wounding all the streams, he saturated their limbs with blood
ਨੈਕੁਨਠਾਢੋਰਹਿਓਰਣਮੈਜਲਰਾਜਭਜਿਓਗ੍ਰਿਹਕੋਮਗੁਲੀਨੋ॥੧੪੮੪॥
ਵਰੁਨ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਰਣ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਟਿਕ ਨਾ ਸਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭਜ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਪਿਆ ॥੧੪੮੪॥
The king of water (Varuna) could not stay in the battlefield and ran away towards his hime.1484.

ਜਦੋਂ ਵਰੁਨ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ,
ਤਬਹਰਿਕੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਪੁਨਿਸਰਮਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਫਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰੇ।
When Varuna went away to his home, the king then discharged his arrows on Krishna
ਤਬਜਮਕੋਹਰਿਅਸਤ੍ਰਚਲਾਯੋ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਯਮ (ਨੂੰ ਸਦਣ ਵਾਲਾ) ਅਸਤ੍ਰ ਚਲਾਇਆ।
ਹੈਪ੍ਰਤਛਜਮਨ੍ਰਿਪਪਰਧਾਯੋ॥੧੪੮੫॥
(ਫਲਸਰੂਪ) ਯਮ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਉਪਰ ਹੱਲਾ ਬੋਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੪੮੫॥
At that time, Krishna shot his arm of Yama and thereby Yama manifested himself and fell upon the king.1485.

ਬੀਰਬਡੋਬਿਕ੍ਰਤਦੈਤਸੁਨਾਮਹਿਕੋਪਹੁਇਸ੍ਰੀਖੜਗੇਸਪੈਧਾਯੋ॥
'ਬਿਕ੍ਰਤ' ਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਇਕ) ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡਾ ਦੈਂਤ ਸੂਰਵੀਰ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਉਪਰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਇਆ।
ਬਾਨਕਮਾਨਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਗਦਾਬਰਛੀਕਰਿਲੈਅਤਿਜੁਧਮਚਾਯੋ॥
ਬਾਣ, ਕਮਾਨ, ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ, ਗਦਾ, ਬਰਛੀ (ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਯੁੱਧ ਮਚਾਇਆ।
The demon named Vikrat, greatly infuriated, fell upon the king Kharag Singh and taking up his bow, arrows, sword, mace, lance etc., he waged a dreadful war
ਤੀਰਚਲਾਵਤਭਯੋਬਹੁਰੋਤਬਤਾਛਬਿਕੋਕਵਿਭਾਵਸੁਨਾਯੋ॥
ਫਿਰ ਉਹ ਬਾਣ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਲਗਿਆ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਛਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਵੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ;
Continuing the discharge of his arrows, he manifested himself in many figures
ਭੂਪਕੋਬਾਨਮਨੋਖਗਰਾਜਕਟਿਓਅਰਿਕੋਸਰਨਾਗਗਿਰਾਯੋ॥੧੪੮੬॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਬਾਣ ਗਰੁੜ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦਾ ਬਾਣ (ਜੋ ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿਚ) ਕਟਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਗਰੁੜ ਦਾ) ਡਿਗਾਇਆ ਨਾਗ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੮੬॥
The poet says that in this war, the arrow of the king was hitting like Garuda and knocking down of the cobra of the arrow of the enemy.1486.
ਬਿਕ੍ਰਤਦੈਤਕੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਮਾਰਿਲਯੋਜਮੁਕੋਰਿਸਕੈਪੁਨਿਉਤਰਦੀਨੋ॥
ਬਿਕ੍ਰਤ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ,
ਕਾਭਯੋਜੋਜੀਅਮਾਰੇਘਨੇਅਰੁਦੰਡਬਡੋਕਰਮੈਤੁਮਲੀਨੋ॥
ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਜੀਵ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਡੰਡਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
After killing Vikrat, the king said to Yama, “What then, if you have killed many people till now and you are carrying a very large staff in your hand
ਤੋਹਿਨਜੀਅਤਛਾਡਤਹੋਸੁਨਰੇਅਬਮੋਹਿਇਹੈਪ੍ਰਨਕੀਨੋ॥
(ਹੇ ਯਮ!) ਸੁਣ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਛਡਣਾ; ਇਹ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
“I have taken a vow today that I shall kill you, I am going to kill you
ਮਾਰਤਹੋਕਰਲੈਕਰਨੋਕਛੁਮੋਬਲਜਾਨਤਹੈਪੁਰਤੀਨੋ॥੧੪੮੭॥
(ਤੂੰ) ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ, ਕਰ ਲੈ, (ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਮਾਰਨ ਲਗਾ ਹਾਂ। ਮੇਰੇ ਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਤਿੰਨੋ ਲੋਕ (ਭਲੀ ਭਾਂਤ) ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੪੮੭॥
You may do whatever you think in your mind, because all the three worlds are aware of my strength.”1487.
ਯੌਕਹਿਕੈਬਤੀਯਾਜਮਕੋਕਵਿਰਾਮਕਹੈਪੁਨਿਜੁਧਕੀਯੋਹੈ॥
ਕਵੀ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਯਮ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਫਿਰ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
After saying these words, according to the poet Ram, the king was engaged in war with Yama
ਭੂਤਸ੍ਰਿਗਾਲਨਕਾਕਨਝਾਕਨਿਡਾਕਨਿਸ੍ਰੌਨਅਘਾਇਪੀਓਹੈ॥
ਭੂਤਾਂ, ਗਿਦੜਾਂ, ਕਾਂਵਾਂ, ਡੈਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਡਾਕਣੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਜ ਕੇ ਲਹੂ ਪੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
In this war the ghosts, jackals, crows and vampires drank the blood to their heart’s content
ਮਾਰਿਓਮਰੈਨਕਹੂੰਜਮਤੇਨ੍ਰਿਪਮਾਨਹੁਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਨਕੀਓਹੈ॥
ਯਮ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਾਰਿਆਂ ਮਰਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਮਾਨੋ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਪਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
The king is not even dying with the blows of Yama, it appears that he has quaffed ambrosia
ਪਾਨਿਲੀਓਧਨੁਬਾਨਜਬੈਤਿਨਅੰਤਕਅੰਤਭਜਾਇਦੀਯੋਹੈ॥੧੪੮੮॥
ਜਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਬਾਣ ਲਿਆ (ਤਾਂ) ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਯਮ ਨੂੰ (ਯੁੱਧਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਭਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੮੮॥
When the king took his bow and arrows in his hands, the Yama had to run away ultimately.1488.

ਜਬਜਮਦੀਓਭਜਾਇਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਹੇਰਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਯੌਕਹਿਯੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਯਮ ਨੂੰ (ਰਣ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਭਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ (ਤਾਂ) ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਰਾਜਾ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ,
With Yama was made to run away, then king, seeing towards Krishna said,
ਲਰਤੇਕਿਉਨਹੀਆਇਮਹਾਰਥੀਰਨਧੀਰਤੁਮ॥੧੪੮੯॥
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਰਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਣਧੀਰ (ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋ, ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ) ਆ ਕੇ ਲੜਦੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧੪੮੯॥
“O the great warrior of the battlefield! why do you not come to fight with me?” 1489.

ਜੋਹਰਿਮੰਤ੍ਰਅਰਾਧਤਹੈਤਪਸਾਧਤਹੈਮਨਮੈਨਹੀਆਯੋ॥
ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਧਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
He, who through the repetition of mantras and through the performance of austerities, does not come to abide in the mind
ਜਗ੍ਯਕੀਏਬਹੁਦਾਨਦੀਏਸਬਖੋਜਤਹੈਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਹੀਪਾਯੋ॥
(ਕਿਤਨਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਯੱਗ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਬਹੁਤ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸਭ ਖੋਜ (ਥਕੇ ਹਨ) ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ (ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
Who is not realized through the performance of Yajnas and giving charities
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਸਚੀਪਤਿਨਾਰਦਸਾਰਦਬਿਯਾਸਪਰਾਸੁਰਸ੍ਰੀਸੁਕਗਾਯੋ॥
(ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ, ਇੰਦਰ, ਨਾਰਦ, ਸਾਰਦ, ਵਿਆਸ, ਪਰਾਸ਼ਰ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਕਦੇਵ ਨੇ ਗਾਇਆ ਹੈ,
Who is eulogised by even Indra, Brahma, Narada, Sharda, Vyas, Prashar and Shukdev
ਸੋਬ੍ਰਿਜਰਾਜਸਮਾਜਮੈਆਜਹਕਾਰਕੈਜੁਧਕੇਕਾਜਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥੧੪੯੦॥
ਉਸ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਜ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿਚ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ) ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੯੦॥
To that Krishna, the Lord of Braja, today the king Kharag Singh invited him from the whole society for war by challenging him.1490.

ਤਦ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ 'ਜਛ ਅਸਤ੍ਰ' ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ
ਐਚਕਮਾਨਛਾਡਿਸਰਦੀਨੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਮਾਨ ਉਤੇ ਚਿਲਾ ਚੜ੍ਹਾ ਕੇ ਤੀਰ ਛਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Then Krishna took the Yakshastra (the arm relating to Yakshas) in his hand and pulling his bow discharged it
ਨਲਕੂਬਰਮਨਗ੍ਰੀਵਸੁਧਾਏ॥
(ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ) ਨਲ, ਕੂਬਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ-ਗ੍ਰੀਵ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ।
ਸੁਤਕੁਬੇਰਕੇਦ੍ਵੈਇਹਆਏ॥੧੪੯੧॥
ਕੁਬੇਰ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਏ ਹਨ ॥੧੪੯੧॥
Now both the sons of Kuber, Nalkoober and Manigreev came in the battlefield.1491.
ਧਨਦਜਛਕਿੰਨਰਸੰਗਲੀਨੇ॥
ਕੁਬੇਰ ('ਧਨਦ') ਯਕਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੰਨਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ
ਏਆਏਮਨਮੈਰਿਸਕੀਨੇ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਥੇ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ।
They took many Yakshas, the generous bestowers of wealth, and kinnars alongwith them, who, getting enraged, reached the battlefield
ਸਗਲਸੈਨਤਿਨਕੈਸੰਗਆਈ॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਈ ਹੈ
ਧਾਇਭੂਪਸੋਕਰੀਲਰਾਈ॥੧੪੯੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੪੯੨॥
All the army came with them and they waged a terrible war with the king.1492.
