ਕਿਨਹੂੰਨਤਿਹਸੋਜੁਧੁਮਚਾਯੋ॥
ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਯੁੱਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
None of them went forward to fight with the king
ਚਿਤਿਸਬਹੂੰਇਹਭਾਤਿਬਿਚਾਰਿਓ॥
ਸਭ ਨੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ
ਇਹਨਹੀਮਰੈਕਿਸੀਤੇਮਾਰਿਓ॥੧੫੪੯॥
ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਰੇਗਾ ॥੧੫੪੯॥
All of them thought that this king would not be killed by anyone.1549.
ਤਬਬ੍ਰਹਮੇਹਰਿਨਿਕਟਉਚਾਰਿਓ॥
ਜਦ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ
Then Brahma seeing all the army of Krishna having died,
ਜਬਸਗਲੋਦਲਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਸੰਘਾਰਿਓ॥
ਤਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ,
He said to Krishna having died, he said to Krishna,
ਜਬਲਗਿਇਹਤੇਤਾਕਰਿਮੋਹੈ॥
ਜਦ ਤਕ ਇਸ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ 'ਤੇਤਾ' (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਰਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਮੰਦਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਵੀਜ਼) ਹੈ,
“Till the time, he has the charmed amulet in his hand,
ਤਬਲਗੁਬਜ੍ਰਸੂਲਧਰਿਕੋਹੈ॥੧੫੫੦॥
ਤਦ ਤਕ ਵਜ੍ਰ-ਧਰ (ਇੰਦਰ) ਅਤੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ੂਲਧਾਰੀ (ਸ਼ਿਵ) ਕੌਣ ਹਨ? (ਅਰਥਾਤ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ) ॥੧੫੫੦॥
The vajra and trident are insignificant before him.1550.
ਤਾਤੇਇਹੈਕਾਜਅਬਕੀਜੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਇਹੋ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੋ
ਭਿਛਕਿਹੋਇਮਾਗਿਸੋਲੀਜੈ॥
ਕਿ ਭਿਖਾਰੀ ਬਣ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ) ਇਹ (ਤਾਵੀਜ਼) ਮੰਗ ਲਵੋ।
“Therefore now becoming a beggar, beg this from him
ਮੁਕਟਰਾਮਤੇਜੋਇਹਪਾਯੋ॥
ਇਸ ਨੇ ਜੋ ਮੁਕਟ ਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ,
ਸੋਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਦਿਕਹਾਥਿਨਆਯੋ॥੧੫੫੧॥
ਉਹ ਇੰਦਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਾ ॥੧੫੫੧॥
The crown that he has obtained from Ram, it could not be obtained by Indra etc.1551.
ਜਬਤੇਤਾਇਹਕਰਤੇਲੀਜੈ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚੋਂ 'ਤੇਤਾ' ਲੈ ਲਵੋਗੇ,
ਤਬਯਾਕੋਬਧਛਿਨਮਹਿਕੀਜੈ॥
ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਛਿਣ ਵਿਚ ਬਧ ਕਰ ਸਕੋਗੇ।
“When you will take away the amulet from his hand, you will then be able to kill him in an instant
ਜਿਹਉਪਾਇਕਰਿਤੇਪਰਹਰੈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਕਿਸੇ ਉਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਹੱਥੋਂ ('ਤੇਤਾ') ਦੂਰ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਤਉਕਦਾਚਨ੍ਰਿਪਮਰੈਤੋਮਰੈ॥੧੫੫੨॥
ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਮਰੇ ॥੧੫੫੨॥
If he abandons it from his hand through any method, then he can be killed at any time.”1552.
ਯੋਸੁਨਿਹਰਿਦਿਜਬੇਖਬਨਾਯੋ॥
ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦਾ ਭੇਸ ਬਣਾਇਆ
ਮਾਗਨਤਿਹਪੈਹਰਿਬਿਧਿਆਯੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ ('ਤੇਤਾ') ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ।
Hearing this, Krishna and Brahma put on the garb of a Brahmin and went to beg the amulet from him
ਤਬਇਹਸ੍ਯਾਮਬ੍ਰਹਮਲਖਿਲੀਨੋ॥
ਤਦ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ।
ਸ੍ਯਾਮਕਹੈਇਮਉਤਰਦੀਨੋ॥੧੫੫੩॥
(ਕਵੀ) ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧੫੫੩॥
Then on begging, he recognised Krishna and Brahma and according to the poet he said,1553

ਬੇਖੁਕੀਓਹਰਿਬਾਮਨਕੋਬਲਿਬਾਵਨਜਿਉਛਲਬੇਕਹੁਆਯੋ॥
ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ! (ਤੂੰ) ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦਾ ਭੇਸ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਲਿ (ਰਾਜੇ) ਨੂੰ ਛਲਣ ਲਈ (ਵਿਸ਼ਣੂ ਨੇ) ਬਾਵਨ (ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ)।
ਰੇਚਤੁਰਾਨਨਤੂਬਸਿਕਾਨਨਕਾਕੇਕਹੇਤਪਿਸਾਤਜਧਾਯੋ॥
ਹੇ ਚਾਰ ਮੂੰਹਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ (ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ!) ਤੂੰ ਬਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰ, ਕਿਸ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਤੇ ਤਪਸਿਆ ਛਡ ਕੇ (ਇਥੇ ਕਿਉਂ) ਭਜਿਆ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ।
“O Krishna (Vishnu)! you have put on the garb of a Brahmin and have come to deceive me like the king Bali
ਧੂਮਤੇਆਗਰਹੈਨਦੁਰੀਜਿਮਤਿਉਛਲਤੇਤੁਮਕੇਲਖਿਪਾਯੋ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਧੂੰਏਂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅੱਗ ਲੁਕੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਤੁਹਾਡੇ) ਛਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਤੋਂ (ਮੈਂ) ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
“Just as the fire cannot be concealed by smoke, in the same manner, seeing you, I have understood your act of deceit
ਮਾਗਹੁਜੋਤੁਮਰੇਮਨਮੈਅਬਮਾਗਨਹਾਰੇਕੋਰੂਪਬਨਾਯੋ॥੧੫੫੪॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੰਗਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਮੰਗ ਲਵੋ, ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ॥੧੫੫੪॥
When you people have come in the garb of a beggar, then beg from me according to you heart’s desire.1554.

ਜਬਇਹਬਿਧਿਸੋਨ੍ਰਿਪਕਹਿਯੋਕਹੀਬ੍ਰਹਮਜਸਲੇਹੁ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, (ਤਾਂ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, (ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਯਸ਼ ਖਟੋ।
ਜਗਅਨਲਤੇਜੋਮੁਕਟਿਉਪਜਿਓਸੋਮੁਹਿਦੇਹੁ॥੧੫੫੫॥
ਯੱਗ ਦੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਮੁਕੁਟ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ॥੧੫੫੫॥
When the king said like this to Brahma, then Brahma said, “O king! Become praiseworthy and give me the crown that had come out of the fire of Yajna.”1555.
ਜਬਚਤੁਰਾਨਨਿਯੌਕਹੀਪੁਨਿਬੋਲਿਓਜਦੁਬੀਰ॥
ਜਦ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, ਫਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ
ਗਉਰਾਤੇਤਾਤੁਹਿਦਯੋਸੋਮੁਹਿਦੇਨ੍ਰਿਪਧੀਰ॥੧੫੫੬॥
ਕਿ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਨੇ ਜੋ 'ਤੇਤਾ' ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਹੇ ਧੀਰਜਵਾਨ ਰਾਜੇ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ ॥੧੫੫੬॥
When Brahma had begged it, then Krishna spoke, “Give me the amulet that had been given to you by the goddess Chandi.”1556.

ਤਬਨ੍ਰਿਪਮਨਕੋਇਹਬਿਧਿਕਹੈ॥
ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਰੇਜੀਅਜੀਯਤਨਚਹੁੰਜੁਗਰਹੈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! (ਤੂੰ) ਚਾਰ ਯੁਗਾਂ ਤਕ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ।
Then the king thought in his mind that he had not to live for four ages, therefore he should not delay in this task of Dharma and
ਤਾਤੇਸੁਧਰਮਢੀਲਨਹਿਕੀਜੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਤਮ ਧਰਮ (ਕਰਮ) ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਢਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ
ਜੋਹਰਿਮਾਗਤਸੋਇਹਦੀਜੈ॥੧੫੫੭॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੫੫੭॥
The things that Brhma and Krishna are begging, he should give them.1557.
ਸਵੈਯਾ॥

ਕਿਉਤਨਕੀਮਨਿਸੰਕਕਰੈਥਿਰਤੋਜਗਮੈਅਬਤੂਨਰਹੈਹੈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਸਥਿਰ ਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਹੈਂ।
‘O mind! why are you in doubt about the body, you have not to remain stable in the world for ever
ਯਾਤੇਭਲੋਨਕਛੂਇਹਤੇਜਸੁਲੈਰਨਅੰਤਹਿਮੋਤਜਿਜੈਹੈ॥
ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ) ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਯਸ਼ ਲਵੇਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ (ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਤਿਆਗ ਕੇ ਸੁਅਰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
What more virtuous act you can perform? Therefore do this praiseworthy task in the war, because ultimately once, the body is to be abandoned
ਰੇਮਨਢੀਲਰਹਿਯੋਗਹਿਕਾਹੇਤੇਅਉਸਰਬੀਤਗਏਪਛੁਤੈਹੈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਢਿੱਲ ਕਿਸ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਮੌਕੇ ਦੇ ਚੁਕ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ (ਫਿਰ) ਪਛਤਾਉਂਦਾ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ।
‘O mind! do not delay, because you will avail nothing except repentance, when the opportunity is lost
ਸੋਕਨਿਵਾਰਿਨਿਸੰਕਹੁਇਦੈਭਗਵਾਨਸੋਭਿਛਕਹਾਥਿਨਐਹੈ॥੧੫੫੮॥
(ਤਾਂ ਤੇ) ਗ਼ਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਦਾਨ) ਦੇ ਦਿਓ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਭਗਵਾਨ ਵਰਗਾ ਭਿਖਾਰੀ (ਫਿਰ) ਹੱਥ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣਾ ॥੧੫੫੮॥
Therefore forsaking anxiety, give away the begged articles without any hesitation, because you will never again get such beggar like the Lord himself .
ਮਾਗਤਜੋਬਿਧਿਸ੍ਯਾਮਅਰੇਮਨਸੋਤਜਿਸੰਕਨਿਸੰਕਹੁਇਦੀਜੈ॥
ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਜੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ੰਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਓ।
‘Whatever Krishna is asking for, O my mind! give it without any hesitation
ਜਾਚਤਹੈਜਿਹਤੇਸਗਰੋਜਗਸੋਤੁਹਿਮਾਗਤਢੀਲਨਕੀਜੈ॥
ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੰਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਣੋ) ਢਿਲ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ।
He, from whom all the world begs, he is standing before you as a beggar, therefore do not delay further
ਅਉਰਬਿਚਾਰਕਰੋਨਕਛੂਅਬਯਾਮਹਿਤੋਨਰਤੀਸੁਖਛੀਜੈ॥
ਹੁਣ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਹਰਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
‘Leave all other ideas, there will remain no shortage in your comfort
ਦਾਨਨਦੇਤਨਮਾਨਕਰੋਬਸੁਦੈਅਸੁਦੈਜਗਮੈਜਸੁਲੀਜੈ॥੧੫੫੯॥
ਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਧਨ ('ਅਸੁ') ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਯਸ਼ ਲਵੋ ॥੧੫੫੯॥
On giving charity, one should not be proud and thoughtful: therefore get the profit of approbation after surrendering everything.”1559.
ਬਾਮਨਬੇਖਕੈਸ੍ਯਾਮਜੁਚਾਹਤਸ੍ਰੀਹਰਿਕੋਤਿਹਭੂਪਤਿਦੀਨੋ॥
ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦੇ ਭੇਸ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਓਹੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Whatever Krishna had begged in the garb of a Brahmin, the king have the same to him
ਜੋਚਤੁਰਾਨਨਕੇਚਿਤਮੈਕਬਿਰਾਮਕਹੈਸੁਵਹੈਨ੍ਰਿਪਕੀਨੋ॥
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿਚ (ਇੱਛਾ) ਸੀ, ਕਵੀ ਰਾਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਹੀ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ (ਪੂਰੀ) ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
Alongwith this, whatever was in the mind of Brahma the king also did that
ਜੋਵਹਮਾਗਤਿਸੋਊਦਯੋਤਬਦੇਤਸਮੈਰਸਮੈਮਨਭੀਨੋ॥
ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਮੰਗਦੇ ਸਨ, ਓਹੀ ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਣ ਵੇਲੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਪ੍ਰੇਮ) ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਭਿਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।
Whatever they had asked for, the king handed it over affectionately
ਦਾਨਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਦੁਹੂੰਬਿਧਿਕੈਤਿਹੁਲੋਕਨਮੈਅਤਿਹੀਜਸੁਲੀਨੋ॥੧੫੬੦॥
ਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਤਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਯਸ਼ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੧੫੬੦॥
In this way with charity and with sword, in the bravery of both kinds, the king earned great praise.1560.
