ਉਥੇ ਲਹੂ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਖ਼ੂਬ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਮਚਾ ਕੇ ਵਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ
ਮੇਦਮਾਸਮਜਿਯਾਬਹੁਤਬੈਤਰੁਨੀਕੇਭਾਇ॥੧੬੦੭॥
ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਵੈਤਰਨੀ ਨਦੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਚਰਬੀ, ਮਾਸ, ਮਿਝ ਆਦਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੦੭॥
The stream of blood flowed there in flood and it appeared like Vaitarni stream of flesh and morrow.1607.

ਮਚਿਯੋਰਨਦਾਰੁਨਦਿਲਾਵਰਦਲੇਲਖਾਸਿਚਾਨਨਕੀਭਾਤਿਰਨਭੂਮਿਝਟਪਟੀਸੀ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ; ਦਿਲਾਵਰ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਲੇਲ ਖ਼ਾਨ ਨੇ ਬਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਝਪਟੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਨ।
A dreadful war began and Dilawar Khan, Dalel Khan etc., joined speedily in the war like a falcon
ਹਟੀਨਨਿਪਟਖਟਪਟੀਸੁਭਟਨਹੂੰਕੀਆਨਨਕੀਆਭਾਤਾਕੀਲਾਗੈਨੈਕੁਲਟੀਸੀ॥
ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਰਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਜ਼ਰਾ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਵੀ ਘਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਮਕ ਕੁਝ ਕੁ ਘਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਲਗਦੀ ਹੈ।
These fully persistent warriors are engaged in destruction and their glory seems charming to the eyes
ਭੂਪਤਿਸੰਭਾਰਕੈਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਪਾਨਿਤਾਨਿਅਭਿਮਾਨਕੈਸੰਘਾਰੀਸੈਨਬਚੀਫੂਟੀਫਟੀਸੀ॥
ਰਾਜਾ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਸੂਤ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਵਸ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਚੀ ਖੁਚੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਕਿਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਮਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ, ਕਿਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਹਾਥੀ ਡਿਗੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ। (ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਬਨ ਦੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਵਾਂਗ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕਟਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੧੬੦੮॥
Proudly smashed and destroyed the elephants, the warriors were cut down by the king like the trees cut down and thrown in the forest.1608.

ਮਲੇਛਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਯਮ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੦੯॥
Then Kharag Singh holding his sword in ire, despatched the army of maleshhas to the abode of Yama.1609.

ਅਉਰਸੁਭਟਜੇਐਨਿਚਲੇਨਾਮਕਬਿਦੇਤਕਹਿ॥੧੬੧੦॥
ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਹੋਰ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਸਨ, (ਉਹ) ਘਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਲ ਪਏ। ਕਵੀ ਨੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਨਾਂ ਕਹੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੬੧੦॥
When the king destroyed two extremely large units of the army of malechhas, then the remaining warriors who marched forward for war, their named are like this,1610

ਭੀਮ ਸੈਨ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਦਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਰਜਨ ਲਕ ਨਾਲ ਭੱਥਾ ('ਇਖੁਧੀ') ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਧਾ ਕੇ ਆ ਪਏ ਹਨ।

ਰਾਇਜੁਧਿਸਟਰਲੈਧਨੁਹਾਥਿਚਲਿਯੋਚਿਤਮੈਅਤਿਕ੍ਰੋਧਬਢਾਯੋ॥
ਰਾਜਾ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਟਰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਬਾਣ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਧਾ ਕੇ ਚਲਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਭ੍ਰਾਤਬਲੀਦੋਊਸਾਥਲੀਏਦਲੁਜੇਤਕਸੰਗਹੁਤੋਸੁਬੁਲਾਯੋ॥
ਦੋਹਾਂ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਸੀ, (ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ) ਨਾਲ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਐਸੇਭਿਰੇਬ੍ਰਿਤਰਾਸੁਰਸਿਉਮਘਵਾਰਿਸਿਕੈਜਿਮਜੁਧੁਮਚਾਯੋ॥੧੬੧੧॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਲੜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਉਂ ਬ੍ਰਿਤਰਾਸੁਰ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਮਚਾਇਆ ਸੀ ॥੧੬੧੧॥
He took with him both the brothers and the army and began the fighting like Indra with Vratasura.1611.

ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗਾ ॥੧੬੧੨॥
Getting infuriated in his mind, Kharag Singh went before Krishna and spoke with the hearing of all the warriors.1612.

ਪੱਛਮ ਵਲੋਂ ਜੇ ਕਦੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਪਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਗੰਗਾ ਉਲਟੀ ਵਹਿ ਤੁਰੇ (ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਵੇ;
“Even if the sun rises from the west and the Ganges flows contrary to its course
ਜੇਠਕੇਮਾਸਤੁਖਾਰਪਰੇਬਨਅਉਰਬਸੰਤਸਮੀਰਜਰਾਵੈ॥
ਜੇਠ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਬਰਫ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਹਵਾ ਬਨ ਨੂੰ ਫੂਕ ਸੁਟੇ;
Even if it snows in the month of Jyeshth and the wind of spring gives scorching heat
ਲੋਕਹਲੈਧਰੂਅਕੋਜਲਕੋਥਲੁਹੁਇਥਲਕੋਕਬਹੂੰਜਲਜਾਵੈ॥
ਧ੍ਰੂਹ ਲੋਕ ਹਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ, ਜਲ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਥਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ, ਥਲ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਜਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ;
ਕੰਚਨਕੋਨਗੁਪੰਖਨਧਾਰਿਉਡੈਖੜਗੇਸਨਪੀਠਦਿਖਾਵੈ॥੧੬੧੩॥
ਸੁਮੇਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਖੰਭ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਡ ਜਾਵੇ (ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਅਸੰਭਵ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਭਵ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਵੀ) ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ (ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ) ਪਿਠ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਖਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੧੬੧੩॥
“Even if the stable pole star moves and if the waters turn into plain and plain into wates and if the Sumeru mountain flies with wings, Kharag Singh will never get back from the war-arena.1613.
ਯੌਕਹਿਕੈਧਨੁਕੋਗਹਿਕੈਲਹਿਕੈਚਹਿਕੈਬਹੁਬੀਰਕਟੇ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿ ਕੇ (ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ, ਵੇਖ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵੀਰ ਯੋਧੇ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟੇ ਹਨ।
Saying this and getting hold of his bow, he, in a delightful mood, chopped many warriors
ਇਕਧਾਇਪਰੈਪੁਨਿਸਾਮੁਹਿਹ੍ਵੈਇਕਭਾਜਿਗਏਇਕਸੂਰਲਟੇ॥
ਇਕ ਭਜ ਕੇ, ਫਿਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਕ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਭਜ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਟਲ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
Some warriors came in front of him to fight and some ran away, some of the warriors fell down on the earth
ਬਲਬੰਡਘਨੇਛਿਤਪੈਪਟਕੇਭਟਐਸੀਦਸਾਬਹੁਹੇਰਿਹਟੇ॥
ਬਹੁਤ ਬਲਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਪਟਕਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਪਿਛੇ ਹਟ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
He knocked down many warriors on the ground and seeing such a spectacle of war, many warriors retraced their steps
ਕਬਿਸ੍ਯਾਮਭਨੈਤਿਹਆਹਵਮੈਸੁਰਹੇਕੇਊਬੀਰਫਟੇਈਫਟੇ॥੧੬੧੪॥
ਕਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਟੁਟੇ ਭਜੇ ਯੋਧੇ ਹੀ (ਬਾਕੀ) ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥੧੬੧੪॥
The poet says that the warriors who were there in the battlefield, they had received some injury at least.1614.
ਧਨੁਪਾਰਥਕੋਤਿਹਕਾਟਿਦਯੋਪੁਨਿਕਾਟਿਕੈਭੀਮਗਦਾਊਗਿਰਾਈ॥
ਉਸ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਅਰਜਨ ਦਾ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਤੋੜ ਸੁਟਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਭੀਮ ਸੈਨ ਦੀ ਗਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕਟ ਕੇ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
He caused the bow of Arjuna to fall down and also the mace of Bhima
ਭੂਪਤਿਕੀਕਰਵਾਰਕਟੀਕਹੂੰਜਾਇਪਰੀਕਛੁਜਾਨਿਨਜਾਈ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਦੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਕਟੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦਾ ਕਿਥੇ (ਟੁਟ ਕੇ) ਜਾ ਪਈ ਹੈ।
The sword of the king itself was cut and it could not be known where it fell
ਭ੍ਰਾਤਦੋਊਅਰੁਸੈਨਘਨੀਅਤਿਰੋਸਭਰੀਨ੍ਰਿਪਊਪਰਧਾਈ॥
ਰਾਜੇ ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਰ ਦੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਭਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਈ ਹੈ।
ਭੂਪਤਿਬਾਨਹਨੈਤਿਹਕਉਤਨਫੋਰਿਦਈਉਹਓਰਿਦਿਖਾਈ॥੧੬੧੫॥
ਰਾਜਾ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਰੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੀਰ ਕੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਦਿਖਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੬੧੫॥
The innumerable of Arjuna and Bhima fell upon the king, who with his loud sounding discharge of arrows, pierced the bodies of all of them.1615.

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਤੁਰਤ ਹੀ (ਇਕ) ਅਛੋਹਣੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ
ਪੁਨਿਰਿਸਿਸਿਉਧਾਵਤਭਯੋਅਪੁਨੇਸਸਤ੍ਰਸੰਭਾਰਿ॥੧੬੧੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕੇ (ਰਣ-ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ) ਧਸ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੧੬॥
The king immediately killed one large division of military unit and then in his fury, holding his weapons, he fell upon the enemy.1616.

ਏਕਚਟਾਕਚਪੇਟਹਨੈਇਕਲੈਕਰਮੈਕਰਵਾਰਸੰਘਾਰੈ॥
ਇਕਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਪੇੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਟਾਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
He killed some warriors with other weapons and some, taking his sword in his hand
ਏਕਨਕੇਉਰਫਾਰਿਕਟਾਰਨਕੇਸਨਤੇਗਹਿਏਕਪਛਾਰੈ॥
ਇਕਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਟਾਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੀਨੇ ਚੀਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਪਛਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
He tore asunder the hearts of some with his sword and knocked down many catching them from their hair
ਏਕਚਲਾਇਦਏਦਸਹੂੰਦਿਸਏਕਡਰੇਮਰਗੇਬਿਨੁਮਾਰੈ॥
ਇਕਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਾਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਲ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਡਰ ਕੇ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਾਰਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਮਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
He threw and scattered some in all the ten directions and some died merely with fear
ਪੈਦਲੁਕੋਦਲੁਮਾਰਦਯੋਦੁਹਹਾਥਨਹਾਥੀਨਦਾਤਉਖਾਰੈ॥੧੬੧੭॥
ਪੈਦਲ ਦਲ ਮਾਰ ਸੁਟੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੰਦ ਉਖਾੜ ਸੁਟੇ ਹਨ ॥੧੬੧੭॥
He killed the gatherings of soldiers on feet and with both hands he uprooted the tusks of the elephants.1617.
ਪਾਰਥਆਨਿਕਮਾਨਗਹੀਤਿਹਭੂਪਤਿਕੋਇਕਬਾਨਲਗਾਯੋ॥
ਅਰਜਨ ਨੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਪਕੜ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਬਾਣ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਲਾਗਤਹੀਅਵਸਾਨਗੁਮਾਨਗਯੋਖੜਗੇਸਮਹਾਦੁਖੁਪਾਯੋ॥
(ਬਾਣ ਦੇ) ਲਗਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਹੋਸ਼-ਹਵਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਮਾਨ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
Holding his bow, Arjuna discharged one arrow to the king, whose blow destroyed the pride of the king and he suffered extreme anguish

(ਅਰਜਨ ਦੀ) ਬਹਾਦਰੀ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ
ਧੰਨਪਿਤਾਧੰਨਵੇਜਨਨੀਜੁਧਨੰਜੈਨਾਮਜਿਨੋਸੁਤਜਾਯੋ॥੧੬੧੮॥
ਕਿ ਧੰਨ ਉਹ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧੰਨ ਉਹ ਮਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਰਜਨ ('ਧਨੰਜੈ') ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੬੧੮॥
