ਸਾਰੇ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੇ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਕਾਲ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਚ ਗਏ ਹਾਂ।
When the king reached the abode of gods, all the warriors became pleased and said, “We are all saved from the mouth of Kal (death),”
ਸਸਿਭਾਨੁਧਨਾਧਿਪਰੁਦ੍ਰਬਿਰੰਚਸਬੈਹਰਿਤੀਰਗਏਜਬਹੀ॥
ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ, ਸੂਰਜ, ਕੁਬੇਰ, ਰੁਦ੍ਰ, ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਆਦਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੋਲ ਗਏ,
ਹਰਖੇਬਰਖੇਨਭਤੇਸੁਰਫੂਲਸੁਜੀਤਕੀਬੰਬਬਜੀਤਬਹੀ॥੧੭੧੭॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਤ ਦੇ ਨਗਾਰੇ ਵਜਣ ਲਗੇ ॥੧੭੧੭॥
When Chandra, Surya, Kuber, Rudra, Brahma etc. reached the abode of the Lord, the gods showered flowers from the sky and blew the horn of victory.1717.

ਤਉਹੀਲਉਕੋਪਕੀਓਮੁਸਲੀਅਰਿਬੀਰਤਬੈਸੰਗਤੀਰਪ੍ਰਹਾਰੇ॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਗਾ।
Till that time, in great fury, Balram discharged his arrows and killed many enemies
ਐਚਿਲੀਏਇਕਬਾਰਹੀਬੈਰਨਪ੍ਰਾਨਬਿਨਾਕਰਿਭੂਪਰਡਾਰੇ॥
ਇਕੋ ਵਾਰ ਹੀ (ਤੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਨ ਤੇ) ਖਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਣਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੀਣਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Pulling his bow he made many enemies lifeless and threw them on the ground
ਏਕਬਲੀਗਹਿਹਾਥਨਸੋਛਿਤਪੈਕਰਿਕੋਪਫਿਰਾਇਪਛਾਰੇ॥
ਕਈ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਪਕੜ ਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਘੁੰਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਪਛਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
He caught some of the mighty ones with his hands and knocked them down on the earth
ਜੀਵਤਜੋਊਬਚੇਬਲਤੇਰਨਤ੍ਯਾਗਸੋਊਨ੍ਰਿਪਤੀਰਸਿਧਾਰੇ॥੧੭੧੮॥
ਜੋ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਬਚੇ, ਉਹ ਯੁੱਧ-ਖੇਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਰਾਜੇ (ਜਰਾਸੰਧ) ਕੋਲ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ॥੧੭੧੮॥
Those who survived from amongst them with their strength, they abandoned the war-arena and came before Jarasandh.1718.

ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿਪੈਜਾਇਪੁਕਾਰੇ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਜਰਾਸੰਧ ਪਾਸ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ
ਖੜਗਸਿੰਘਰਨਭੀਤਰਮਾਰੇ॥
ਕਿ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
Coming before Jarasandh, they said, “Kharag Singh has been killed in the war"
ਇਉਸੁਨਿਕੈਤਿਨਕੇਮੁਖਬੈਨਾ॥
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ
ਰਿਸਿਕੇਸੰਗਅਰੁਨਭਏਨੈਨਾ॥੧੭੧੯॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਦੀਆਂ) ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਲ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ ॥੧੭੧੯॥
Listening to their talk, his eyes became red with ire.1719.
ਅਪੁਨੇਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਸਬੈਬੁਲਾਏ॥
(ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਏ
ਤਿਨਪ੍ਰਤਿਭੂਪਤਿਬਚਨਸੁਨਾਏ॥
ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ (ਇਹ) ਬਚਨ ਸੁਣਾਏ।
He called all his ministers and said,
ਖੜਗਸਿੰਘਜੂਝੇਰਨਮਾਹੀ॥
ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਉਰਸੁਭਟਕੋਤਿਹਸਮਨਾਹੀ॥੧੭੨੦॥
ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ॥੧੭੨੦॥
“Kharag Singh has been killed in the battlefield and there is no other warrior like him.1720.
ਖੜਗਸਿੰਘਸੋਸੂਰੋਨਾਹੀ॥
ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਜਿਹਾ (ਕੋਈ) ਸੂਰਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ
ਤਿਹਸਮਜਾਇਲਰੈਰਨਮਾਹੀ॥
ਜੋ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਵਾਂਗ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ।
“There is no other warrior like Kharag Singh, who can fight like him
ਅਬਤੁਮਕਹੋਕਉਨਬਿਧਿਕੀਜੈ॥
ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦਸੋ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਜੁਗਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ?
ਕਉਨਸੁਭਟਕੋਆਇਸਦੀਜੈ॥੧੭੨੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਯੋਧੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇਈਏ ॥੧੭੨੧॥
Now you may tell me what should be done, and who should now be ordered to go?”1721.
ਜਰਾਸੰਧਿਨ੍ਰਿਪਸੋਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਬਾਚ॥
ਜਰਾਸੰਧ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਮੰਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ:

ਤਬਬੋਲਿਓਮੰਤ੍ਰੀਸੁਮਤਿਜਰਾਸੰਧਿਕੇਤੀਰ॥
ਤਦ 'ਸੁਮਤਿ' ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਰਾਸੰਧ ਕੋਲ ਬੋਲਣ ਲਗਿਆ,
Now the minister, Sumati by name, spoke to the king Jarasandh,
ਸਾਝਪਰੀਹੈਅਬਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿਕਉਨਲਰੈਰਨਿਬੀਰ॥੧੭੨੨॥
ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਸੰਝ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਵਕਤ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਯੁੱਧਵੀਰ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰੇਗਾ ॥੧੭੨੨॥
“Now it is evening, who will fight at this time?”1722.
ਉਤਰਾਜਾਚੁਪਹੋਇਰਹਿਓਮੰਤ੍ਰਿਕਹੀਜਬਗਾਥ॥
ਉਧਰ ਜਦੋ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ (ਇਹ) ਗੱਲ ਕਹੀ (ਤਾਂ) ਰਾਜਾ ਚੁਪ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ।
ਇਤਮੁਸਲੀਧਰਤਹਗਯੋਜਹਾਹੁਤੇਬ੍ਰਿਜਨਾਥ॥੧੭੨੩॥
ਇਧਰ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਉਥੇ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ (ਬੈਠੇ) ਸਨ ॥੧੭੨੩॥
On that side, listening to the minister, the king sat down silently and on this side Balram reached there where Krishna was sitting.1723.
ਮੁਸਲੀਬਾਚਕਾਨ੍ਰਹਸੋ॥
ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ:

ਹੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ! ਇਹ ਕਿਸ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੀ।
ਐਸੋਅਪੁਨੀਬੈਸਮੈਨਹਿਦੇਖਿਓਬਲਧਾਮ॥੧੭੨੪॥
ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਯੂ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੰਜ (ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ) ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ॥੧੭੨੪॥
“O the ocean of mercy! who was this king Kharag Singh? I have not seen till now such a powerful hero.1724.

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਪਾਓ
ਮੇਰੇਮਨਕੋਭਰਮੁਬਿਨਾਸੋ॥
ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਦਾ ਭਰਮ ਨਿਵਾਰਣ ਕਰੋ।
“Therefore telling me his episode, remove the illusion of my mind
ਐਸੀਬਿਧਿਸੋਬਲਿਜਬਕਹਿਓ॥
ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਲਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ
ਸੁਨਿਸ੍ਰੀਕ੍ਰਿਸਨਿਮੋਨਹ੍ਵੈਰਹਿਓ॥੧੭੨੫॥
(ਤਾਂ) ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਚੁਪ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ॥੧੭੨੫॥
” When Balram said this, Krishna listening to him, remained silent.1725.

ਫਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣ ਲਗੇ,
ਸੁਨਿਬਲਿਯਾਕੀਗਾਥਜਨਮਕਥਾਭੂਪਤਿਕਹੋ॥੧੭੨੬॥
ਹੇ ਬਲਰਾਮ! ਇਸ ਦੀ ਗਾਥਾ ਸੁਣੋ; (ਮੈਂ) ਰਾਜਾ (ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ) ਦੀ ਜਨਮ-ਕਥਾ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥੧੭੨੬॥
Then Krishna gracefully said to his brother, “O Balram! now I relate the story of the birth of the king, listen to it,1726

ਆਦਿਬਰਨਬਿਧਿਪੰਚਲੈਧਰਿਓਖੜਗਸਿੰਘਨਾਮ॥੧੭੨੭॥
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਅੱਖਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਦਾ) ਨਾਂ 'ਖੜਗ ਸਿੰਘ' ਰਖਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੧੭੨੭॥
“Kartikeya (the six-faced), Rama, Ganesh, Shringi and Ghanshyam taking the first letters of these names, he was named Kharag Singh.1727.
ਖੜਗਰਮਯਤਨਗਰਮਿਤਾਸਿੰਘਨਾਦਘਮਸਾਨ॥
ਖੜਗ (ਤਲਵਾਰ) 'ਰਮਯਤਨ' (ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ) 'ਗਰਮਿਤਾ' (ਗਰਿਮਾ ਸਿੱਧੀ) 'ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਦ' (ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੀ ਗਰਜ) ਅਤੇ 'ਘਮਸਾਨ' (ਘੋਰ ਯੁੱਧ)
ਪੰਚਬਰਨਕੋਗੁਨਲੀਓਇਹਭੂਪਤਿਬਲਵਾਨ॥੧੭੨੮॥
-ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਂ ਅੱਖਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਲਵਾਨ (ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ) ॥੧੭੨੮॥

ਖੜਗ (ਤਲਵਾਰ) ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ (ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕਾਰਤਿਕੇ) ਨੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ (ਉਸ ਨੇ) ਅਤਿ ਜਿਤ (ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ)।
