ਕਉਡਾਪੈਸਾਰੁਪਈਆਸੁਨਈਆਕੋਬਨਜਕਰੈਰਤਨਪਾਰਖੁਹੋਇਜਉਹਰੀਕਹਾਵਈ।
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਉਡਾਂ; ਪੈਸਿਆਂ; ਰੁਪਯਾਂ ਤਥਾ ਮੋਹਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ; ਰਤਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਰਖੂ ਪਰਖਈਆ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਜੌਹਰੀ ਕਹੌਣ ਲਗ ਪਿਆ।
Just as one starts dealing in shells in the beginning, then in money, gold coins and then becomes evaluator of diamonds and precious stones. He is then called a jeweller.
ਜਉਹਰੀਕਹਾਇਪੁਨਕਉਡਾਕੋਬਨਜੁਕਰੈਪੰਚਪਰਵਾਨਮੈਪਤਸਿਟਾਘਟਾਵਈ।
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਜਉਹਰੀ ਅਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਮੁੜ ਕਉਡੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਵਣਜ ਕਰੇਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਣ ਪਏ ਮੰਨਿਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਮੰਨਿਆਂ ਪੈਂਚਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਸ਼ਟਾ ਪਤ ਆਬਰੋ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
But after becoming famous as a jeweller, one starts dealing in shells, he loses his respect among the elite people.
ਆਨਦੇਵਸੇਵਗੁਰਦੇਵਕੋਸੇਵਕਹੁਇਲੋਕਪਰਲੋਕਬਿਖੈਊਚਪਦੁਪਾਵਈ।
ਜੇਕਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਵਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇਵ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਦ ਤਾਂ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਖੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਮਰਾਤਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਯਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
Similarly, if a follower of some god comes into the service of True Guru, he acquires high status in this and the world beyond.
ਛਾਡਿਗੁਰਦੇਵਸੇਵਆਨਦੇਵਸੇਵਕਹੁਇਨਿਹਫਲਜਨਮੁਕਪੂਤਹੁਇਹਸਾਵਈ।੪੭੯।
ਪਰ ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਨੂੰ ਤ੍ਯਾਗ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਨ ਦੇਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਜਾ ਬਣੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਤੇ ਕਪੁੱਤ ਬਣਿਆ ਅਪਣੀ ਹਾਸੀ ਕਰਾਵੇਗਾ ਹਾਸੋ ਹੀਣੀ ਕਰਾਵੇਗਾ ॥੪੭੯॥
But if someone leaves the service of the True Guru, and becomes a follower of some other god, then he wastes away his human life and he is laughed at by others being known as a bad son. (479)
