ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਛਿੱਟ ਪੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਗਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਜੇ ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਘਿਉ ਨਾਲ ਥਿੰਧਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਗਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਲੋਹਾ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਲੋਹਾ ਗੰਗਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਡੋਬਣਹਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਮਕਾਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਅਜ਼ਦਹਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਡੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਉਹੋ ਜਮਕਾਲ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੫੬੧॥
Similarly death-like snake is swallowing everyone. But once consecration from the Guru in the form of Naam is obtained, then the angel of death becomes slave of the slaves. (561)
