ਮਨੁਤੇਤਨੁਤੇਜੁਚਲਿਓਜਗਮਾਤਕੋਦਾਮਨਿਜਾਨਚਲੇਘਨਮੈ॥੪੮॥
(ਉਸ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਕਵੀ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਪਮਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਕਿ ਦੇਵੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਾ ਤਨ ਮਨ (ਦੀ ਗਤਿ) ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਚਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਇੰਜ ਸਮਝੋ ਕਿ ਕਾਲੇ ਬਦਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਚਲਦੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪੮॥
That the body of the mother of the world moved swifter than her mind, she appeared as lightning moving in the clouds.48.,
ਫੂਟਗਈਧੁਜਨੀਸਗਰੀਅਸਿਚੰਡਪ੍ਰਚੰਡਜਬੈਕਰਿਲੀਨੋ॥
ਜਦੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ (ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਖੇਰੂੰ ਖੇਰੂੰ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
When the goddess held her sword in her hand, all the army of the demons cracked.,
ਦੈਤਮਰੈਨਹਿਬੇਖਕਰੈਬਹੁਤਉਬਰਬੰਡਮਹਾਬਲਕੀਨੋ॥
ਦੈਂਤ (ਅਸਲੋਂ) ਮਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ (ਸਗੋਂ) ਬਹੁਤ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ (ਯੁੱਧ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੁਚਿਤ ਸਨ) ਤਦੋਂ ਬਲਵਾਨ (ਚੰਡੀ) ਨੇ ਅਤਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਜੋਇਆ
The demons were also very powerful, they did not die and instead were fighting in transformed forms.,
ਚਕ੍ਰਚਲਾਇਦਇਓਕਰਿਤੇਸਿਰਸਤ੍ਰਕੋਮਾਰਜੁਦਾਕਰਦੀਨੋ॥
ਅਤੇ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹੱਥ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਕਰ ਚਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ (ਧੜ ਤੋਂ) ਵਖਰਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Chandi segregated the heads of the enemies by throwing her disc with her hands.,
ਸ੍ਰਉਨਤਧਾਰਚਲੀਨਭਕੋਜਨੁਸੂਰਕੋਰਾਮਜਲਾਜਲਦੀਨੋ॥੪੯॥
(ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਲਹੂ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਲ (ਇਉਂ) ਚਲੀ ਮਾਨੋ ਪਰਸ਼ੁਰਾਮ ਨੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਨੂੰ ਜਲਾਂਜਲੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੪੯॥
Consequently the current of bloods flowed as if Rama was offering water to the sun.49.,
ਸਬਸੂਰਸੰਘਾਰਦਏਤਿਹਖੇਤਿਮਹਾਬਰਬੰਡਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮਕੈ॥
ਮਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ (ਚੰਡੀ) ਨੇ ਪਰਾਕ੍ਰਮ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
When that mighty goddess killed all the chivalrous demons with her power,
ਤਹਸ੍ਰਉਨਤਸਿੰਧੁਭਇਓਧਰਨੀਪਰਿਪੁੰਜਗਿਰੇਅਸਿਕੈਧਮਕੈ॥
ਉਥੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਲਹੂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਧਮਕ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ (ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ) ਸਮੂਹ ਡਿਗ ਪਏ।
Then so much mass of blood fell on the earth that it became a sea of blood.,
ਜਗਮਾਤਪ੍ਰਤਾਪਹਨੇਸੁਰਤਾਪਸੁਦਾਨਵਸੈਨਗਈਜਮਕੈ॥
ਜਗਤ ਮਾਤਾ (ਚੰਡੀ) ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਕਟ (ਤਾਪ) ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਜਮ-ਲੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ।
The mother of the world, with her power, removed the suffering of gods and the demons went to the abode of Yama.,
ਬਹੁਰੋਅਰਿਸਿੰਧੁਰਕੇਦਲਪੈਠਕੈਦਾਮਿਨਿਜਿਉਦੁਰਗਾਦਮਕੈ॥੫੦॥
ਫਿਰ ਦੁਰਗਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਰੂਪੀ ਬਦਲ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਜਲੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਦਮਕਣ ਲਗੀ ॥੫੦॥
Then the goddess Durga glistened like lightning amongst the army of elephants.50.,

When Mahishasura, the king of all deemons, was killed,
ਤਬਕਾਇਰਭਾਜੇਸਬੈਛਾਡਿਓਸਕਲਸਮਾਜ॥੫੧॥
ਤਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਇਰ (ਦੈਂਤ) ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਛਡ ਛਡਾ ਕੇ ਭਜ ਗਏ ॥੫੧॥
Then all the cawards ran away leaving behind all paraphernalia.51.,

ਦੁਪਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਵਾਂਗ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਮੰਨੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਹਾਬਲੀ ਦੈਂਤ (ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ) ਨੂੰ ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਤ (ਕਾਰਜ) ਲਈ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Supremely heroic goddess, with the magnificence of the sun at noon, killed the demon-king for the well-being of gods.,
ਅਉਰਦਲੁਭਾਜਿਓਜੈਸੇਪਉਨਹੂੰਤੇਭਾਜੇਮੇਘਇੰਦ੍ਰਦੀਨੋਰਾਜਬਲੁਆਪਨੋਸੋਧਾਰਿਕੈ॥
ਹੋਰ (ਬਾਕੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਦੈਂਤ) ਸੈਨਾ (ਇੰਜ) ਭਜ ਗਈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਵਨ ਨਾਲ ਬਦਲ ਭਜ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਖਿੰਡ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ) ਅਤੇ (ਦੇਵੀ ਨੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
The remaining demon-army ran helter-skelter in such a way, as the cloud speed away before the wind, the goddess with her prowess bestowed the kingdom on Indra.,
ਦੇਸਦੇਸਕੇਨਰੇਸਡਾਰੈਹੈਸੁਰੇਸਪਾਇਕੀਨੋਅਭਖੇਕਸੁਰਮੰਡਲਬਿਚਾਰਿਕੈ॥
ਦੇਸ਼-ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਲਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜ-ਤਿਲਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
She caused sovereigns of many countries to bow in obeisance to Indra and his coronation ceremony was thoughtfully performed by the assembly of gods.,
ਈਹਾਭਈਗੁਪਤਿਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਜਾਇਤਹਾਭਈਜਹਾਬੈਠੇਹਰਿਹਰਿਅੰਬਰਿਕੋਡਾਰਿਕੈ॥੫੨॥
ਇਥੋਂ (ਦੇਵੀ) ਗੁਪਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਈ ਜਿਥੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਦੀ ਖਲ੍ਹ (ਹਰਿ-ਅੰਬਰ) ਨੂੰ ਵਿਛਾ ਕੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੀ ॥੫੨॥
In this way, the goddess disappeared from here and manifested herself there, where the god Shiva was seated on the lion-skin.52.,
ਇਤਿਸ੍ਰੀਮਾਰਕੰਡੇਪੁਰਾਨੇਸ੍ਰੀਚੰਡੀਚਰਿਤ੍ਰਉਕਤਿਬਿਲਾਸਮਹਖਾਸੁਰਬਧਹਿਨਾਮਦੁਤੀਆਧਿਆਇਸਮਾਪਤਮਸਤੁਸੁਭਮਸਤੁ॥੨॥
ਇਥੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਦੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਉਕਤਿ ਬਿਲਾਸ (ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ) ਦੇ 'ਮਹਿਖਾਸੁਰ ਵਧ' ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਅਧਿਆਇ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਪਤੀ ਸਭ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਦਾਨਵਮਾਰਿਅਭੇਖਕਰਿਕੀਨੇਸੰਤਨਕਾਜ॥੫੩॥
(ਚੰਡੀ ਨੇ) ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਬੇਹਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ (ਦੀ ਰਖਿਆ ਦਾ) ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ ॥੫੩॥
She killed the demons and destroyed them for the well-being of the saints.53.,

ਯਾਤੇਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਭਏਹੈਮਹਾਮੁਨਦੇਵਨਕੇਤਪਮੈਸੁਖਪਾਵੈ॥
(ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ) ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਮੁਨੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਤੇਜ-ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ ਹਨ।
The great sages became pleased and received comfort in meditating on the gods.,
ਜਗ੍ਯਕਰੈਇਕਬੇਦਰਰੈਭਵਤਾਪਹਰੈਮਿਲਿਧਿਆਨਹਿਲਾਵੈ॥
(ਕਈ) ਯੱਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕਈ ਵੇਦ ਪਾਠ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਕਈ) ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਹਰਿ ਵਿਚ) ਧਿਆਨ ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
The sacrifices are being performed, the Vedas are being recited and for the removal of suffering, contemplation is being done together.,
ਝਾਲਰਤਾਲਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗਉਪੰਗਰਬਾਬਲੀਏਸੁਰਸਾਜਮਿਲਾਵੈ॥
(ਦੇਵਤੇ) ਘੰਟੇ, ਛੈਣੇ, ਮ੍ਰਿਦੰਗ, ਉਪੰਗ (ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਾਜਾ) ਰਬਾਬ ਆਦਿ ਜਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇਕ-ਸੁਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
The tunes of various musical instruments like cymbals big and small, trumpet, kettledrum and Rabab are being made harmonies.,
ਕਿੰਨਰਗੰਧ੍ਰਬਗਾਨਕਰੈਗਨਿਜਛਅਪਛਰਨਿਰਤਦਿਖਾਵੈ॥੫੪॥
(ਕਿਤੇ) ਕਿੰਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਕਿਤੇ) ਯਕਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਅਪੱਛਰਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਚ ਕਰਕੇ ਵਿਖਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੫੪॥
Somewhere the Kinnars and Gandharvas are singing and somewhere the Ganas, Yakshas and Apsaras are dancing.54.,
ਸੰਖਨਕੀਧੁਨਘੰਟਨਿਕੀਕਰਿਫੂਲਨਕੀਬਰਖਾਬਰਖਾਵੈ॥
ਸੰਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੁੰਜਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਖਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
With the sound of conches and gongs, they are causing the rain of flowers.,
ਆਰਤੀਕੋਟਿਕਰੈਸੁਰਸੁੰਦਰਿਪੇਖਪੁਰੰਦਰਕੇਬਲਿਜਾਵੈ॥
(ਕਿਤਨੇ ਹੀ) ਸੁੰਦਰ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਆਰਤੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Millions of gods fully decorated, are performing aarti (circumambulation) and seeing Indra, they show intense devotion.,
ਦਾਨਤਦਛਨਦੈਕੈਪ੍ਰਦਛਨਭਾਲਮੈਕੁੰਕਮਅਛਤਲਾਵੈ॥
(ਉਦੋਂ) ਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਦੱਛਣਾ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਖਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਕੇਸਰ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਵਲਾਂ (ਦਾ ਤਿਲਕ) ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
Giving gifts and performing circumambulation around Indra, they are applying the frontal –mark of saffron and rice on their foreheads.,
ਹੋਤਕੁਲਾਹਲਦੇਵਪੁਰੀਮਿਲਦੇਵਨਕੇਕੁਲਿਮੰਗਲਗਾਵੈ॥੫੫॥
(ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਧੁੰਮ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਲਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੰਗਲਮਈ ਗੀਤ ਗਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥੫੫॥
In all the city of gods, there is much excitement and the families of gods are singing songs of feliciations.55.,

ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੰਡੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਵੱਧ ਗਿਆ
In this way, through the Glory of Chandi, the splendour of gods increased.,
ਤੀਨਲੋਕਜੈਜੈਕਰੈਰਰੈਨਾਮੁਸਤਿਜਾਪ॥੫੬॥
ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨੇ ਲੋਕ ਦੇਵੀ ਦੀ ਜੈ-ਜੈ-ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ('ਮਾਰਕੰਡੇਯ ਪੁਰਾਣ' ਦੀ) ਸੱਤਸਈ (ਵਿਚਲੇ) ਨਾਂਵਾਂ (ਦੇ ਸਤੋਤ੍ਰ ਦਾ) ਜਾਪ ਕਰਨ ਲਗੇ ॥੫੬॥
All the there worlds are rejoicing and the sound of the recitation of True Name is being heard.56.,
ਇਸੀਭਾਂਤਿਸੋਦੇਵਤਨਰਾਜਕੀਯੋਸੁਖਮਾਨਿ॥
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣਿਆ।
The gods ruled comfortably like this.,
ਬਹੁਰਸੁੰਭਨੈਸੁੰਭਦੁਇਦੈਤਬਡੇਬਲਿਵਾਨ॥੫੭॥
ਫਿਰ ਸੁੰਭ-ਨਿਸੁੰਭ (ਨਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ) ਦੋ ਵਡੇ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਦੈਂਤ (ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਗਏ) ॥੫੭॥
But after some time, two mighty demons named Sumbh and Nisumbh appeared.57.,
ਇੰਦ੍ਰਲੋਕਕੇਰਾਜਹਿਤਚੜਿਧਾਏਨ੍ਰਿਪਸੁੰਭ॥
ਇੰਦਰ-ਲੋਕ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਸੁੰਭ-
For conquering the kingdom of Indra, the king Sumbh came forward,
ਸੈਨਾਚਤੁਰੰਗਨਿਰਚੀਪਾਇਕਰਥਹੈਕੁੰਭ॥੫੮॥
ਪੈਦਲ, ਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਥੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਚਤੁਰੰਗਣੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਸਜਾ ਕੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਆਇਆ ॥੫੮॥
With his four types of army containing soldiers on foot, in chariots and on elephants.58.,
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ॥
ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ:

ਬਾਜਤਡੰਕਪੁਰੀਧੁਨਕਾਨਿਸੁਸੰਕਿਪੁਰੰਦਰਮੂੰਦਤਪਉਰੈ॥
(ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦੇ) ਡੰਕੇ ਦੇ ਵਜਣ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਜਦ ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੰਕਾਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ (ਇੰਦਰਪੁਰੀ) ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਲਏ।
Hearing the sound of the war-trumpets and getting dubious in mind, Indra the portals of his citadel.,
ਸੂਰਮੈਨਾਹਿਰਹੀਦੁਤਿਦੇਖਿਕੇਜੁਧਕੋਦੈਤਭਏਇਕਠਉਰੈ॥
