ਭੂਮੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਉਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਈਸ਼ਵਰ ਨੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਪੂਰਵਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਗ ਬਣਾਇਆ।

ਗਰਜੈਮਦਮਤਕਰੀਬਦਰਾਬਗਪੰਤਿਲਸੈਜਨਦੰਤਗਟਾ॥
ਮਦ (ਸ਼ਰਾਬ) ਦੀ ਮਸਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਥੀ ਬਦਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਗਜਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੰਦ (ਇੰਜ ਲਗਦੇ ਸਨ) ਮਾਨੋ ਬਗਲਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਤਾਰਾਂ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ।
This intoxicated elephants began to trumpet like the clouds and their tusks appeared like the queues of cranes.,
ਪਹਰੈਤਨਤ੍ਰਾਨਫਿਰੈਤਹਬੀਰਲੀਏਬਰਛੀਕਰਿਬਿਜੁਛਟਾ॥
ਉਥੇ ਕਵਚ-ਧਾਰੀ ਸੂਰਵੀਰ ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਬਰਛੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਇਆਂ (ਇੰਜ) ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਬਿਜਲੀ ਦੀ ਲਿਸ਼ਕ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇ।
Wearing their armour and holding daggers in their hands, the warriors seemed like luster of lightning.,
ਦਲਦੈਤਨਕੋਅਰਿਦੇਵਨਪੈਉਮਡਿਓਮਾਨੋਘੋਰਘਮੰਡਘਟਾ॥੬੨॥
ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਉਤੇ (ਇੰਜ) ਉਮਡ ਪਿਆ ਮਾਨੋ ਘੋਰ ਕਾਲੀ ਘਟਾ (ਛਾ ਗਈ) ਹੋਵੇ ॥੬੨॥
The forces of the demons were gushing out on the inimical gods like the dark colours.62.,

All the demons gathered together and prepared for the war.,
ਅਮਰਪੁਰੀਮਹਿਜਾਇਕੈਘੇਰਿਲੀਓਸੁਰਰਾਜ॥੬੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਅਮਰਪੁਰੀ (ਇੰਦਰਪੁਰੀ) ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ ॥੬੩॥
They went to the city of goods and besieged Indra, the king of gods.63.,

ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਚਲ ਪਈ।
Opening all the gates and portals of the citadel, the army of Indra, the enemy of demons marched outside.,
ਰਨਮੈਤਬਆਨਿਇਕਤ੍ਰਭਏਲਖਿਸਤ੍ਰੁਕੀਪਤ੍ਰਿਜਿਉਸੈਨਹਲੀ॥
ਤਦ (ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ) ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ। (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਇਆਂ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ (ਦੈਂਤਾਂ) ਦੀ ਸੈਨਾ (ਪਿੱਪਲ ਦੇ) ਪੱਤਰ ਵਾਂਗ ਡੁਲਾਇਮਾਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
All of them assembled in the battlefield and the army of the enemy, seeing the army of Indra, trembled like a leaf.,
ਦ੍ਰੁਮਦੀਰਘਜਿਉਗਜਬਾਜਹਲੇਰਥਪਾਇਕਜਿਉਫਲਫੂਲਕਲੀ॥
ਹਾਥੀ ਵਡਿਆਂ ਦਰਖਤਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ, ਘੋੜੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ, ਰਥ ਫੁਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਦਲ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਕਲੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਿਲਣ ਲਗ ਗਏ।
The elephants and horses tall trees and the warriors on foot and on chariots move like fruit, flowers and buds.,
ਦਲਸੁੰਭਕੋਮੇਘਬਿਡਾਰਨਕੋਨਿਕਸਿਉਮਘਵਾਮਾਨੋਪਉਨਬਲੀ॥੬੪॥
(ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਸੁੰਭ ਦੇ ਸੈਨਾ ਰੂਪੀ ਬਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਖਿੰਡਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੰਦਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹਵਾ ਚਲੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੬੪॥
In order to destroy the clouds-like forces of Sumbh, Indra came forward like mighty wind-god.64.,
ਇਹਕੋਪਪੁਰੰਦਰਦੇਵਚੜੇਉਤਜੁਧਕੋਸੁੰਭਚੜੇਰਨਮੈ॥
ਇਧਰੋਂ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਧਰੋਂ ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ ਸੁੰਭ ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜੰਮਿਆ।
Indra came forward in great rage from this side and from the other side Sumbh marched for war.,
ਕਰਬਾਨਕਮਾਨਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਗਦਾਪਹਿਰੇਤਨਤ੍ਰਾਨਤਬੈਤਨਮੈ॥
ਉਦੋਂ (ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਹੱਥ ਵਿਚ ਤੀਰ-ਕਮਾਨ, ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ, ਗਦਾ (ਫੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ) ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਉਤੇ ਕਵਚ ('ਤਨ-ਤ੍ਰਾਨ') ਧਾਰਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ।
There are bows, arrows, swords, maces etc., in the hands of the warriors and they are wearing armour on their bodies.,
ਤਬਮਾਰਮਚੀਦੁਹੂੰਓਰਨਤੇਨਰਹਿਓਭ੍ਰਮਸੂਰਨਕੇਮਨਮੈ॥
ਤਦ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਪਾਸਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਾਰੋ ਮਾਰ ਮੱਚ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਭਰਮ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ।
Undoubtedly horrible playing began from both sides.,
ਬਹੁਜੰਬੁਕਗ੍ਰਿਝਚਲੈਸੁਨਿਕੈਅਤਿਮੋਦਬਢਿਓਸਿਵਕੇਗਨਮੈ॥੬੫॥
(ਯੁੱਧ ਛਿੜਨ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਗਿਦੜ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਰਝਾਂ (ਮਾਸ ਭੱਛਣ ਲਈ) ਤੁਰ ਪਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵ-ਗਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਦੌੜ ਗਈ ॥੬੫॥

ਰਾਜਪੁਰੰਦਰਕੋਪਕੀਓਇਤਿਜੁਧਕੋਦੈਤਜੁਰੇਉਤਕੈਸੇ॥
ਇਧਰੋਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਧਰੋਂ ਯੁੱਧ ਲਈ ਦੈਂਤ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜੁੜੇ?
On this side, Indra is getting very furious and on the other side, all the army of the demons hath assembled.,
ਸਿਆਮਘਟਾਘੁਮਰੀਘਨਘੋਰਕੈਘੇਰਿਲੀਓਹਰਿਕੋਰਵਿਤੈਸੇ॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਘਨਘੋਰ ਕਾਲੀਆਂ ਘਟਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਘੁਮੇਰੀ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਰੂਪੀ ਸੂਰਜ (ਦੇ ਰਥ) ਨੂੰ ਘੇਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ।
The army of demons appears like the sun-chariot of the Lord encircled by the dark thundering clouds.,
ਸਕ੍ਰਕਮਾਨਕੇਬਾਨਲਗੇਸਰਫੋਕਲਸੈਅਰਿਕੇਉਰਿਐਸੇ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ਦੇ ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਤੀਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਗੜੇ (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ) ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਛਾਤੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਜ ਚਮਕ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ
The sharp edges of the arrows shot from the bow of Indra, poiercing the hearts of the enemies glisten.,
ਮਾਨੋਪਹਾਰਕਰਾਰਮੈਚੋਂਚਪਸਾਰਿਰਹੇਸਿਸੁਸਾਰਕਜੈਸੇ॥੬੬॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਪਹਾੜ ਦੀ ਦਰਾੜ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਮੈਨਾ (ਸਾਰਕ) ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਚੁੰਜਾਂ ਪਸਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੬੬॥
Like the beaks of the young once of strokes spread in the caves of the mountains.66.,
ਬਾਨਲਗੇਲਖਸੁੰਭਦਈਤਧਸੇਰਨਲੈਕਰਵਾਰਨਕੋ॥
ਸੁੰਭ ਨੂੰ ਤੀਰ ਲਗੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਖਿਚ ਕੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਸ ਗਏ।
Seeing the king Sumbh pierced by the arrows, the demons-forces jumped into the battlefield, drawing out their swords.,
ਰੰਗਭੂਮਿਮੈਸਤ੍ਰੁਗਿਰਾਇਦਏਬਹੁਸ੍ਰਉਨਬਹਿਓਅਸੁਰਾਨਕੋ॥
ਰਣ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਗਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੂਨ ਵਗਿਆ।
They slayed many enemies in the field and in this way good deal of the blood of the gods flowed.,
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇਗਨਜੰਬੁਕਗ੍ਰਿਝਪਿਸਾਚਸੁਯੌਰਨਭਾਂਤਿਪੁਕਾਰਨਕੋ॥
ਯੁੱਧ-ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਗਣ, ਗਿਦੜ, ਗਿਰਝਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਿਸਾਚ ਸ਼ੋਰ ਪਾਣ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ
Various types of ganas, jackals, vultures, ghosts etc., appearing in the battlefield, produced various sounds in such a way,
ਸੁਮਨੋਭਟਸਾਰਸੁਤੀਤਟਿਨਾਤਹੈਪੂਰਬਪਾਪਉਤਾਰਨਕੋ॥੬੭॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਸੂਰਮੇ (ਪਿਛਲਿਆਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ) ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਰਸਵਤੀ (ਨਦੀ) ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਉਤੇ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਣ ॥੬੭॥
