ਜੁਧਨਿਸੁੰਭਭਇਆਨਰਚਿਓਅਸਆਗੇਨਦਾਨਵਕਾਹੂਕਰਿਓਹੈ॥
(ਸੁੰਭ ਅਤੇ) ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਯੁੱਧ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।
Nisumbh then waged such a terrible war, as none of the demons had waged earlier.,
ਲੋਥਨਊਪਰਿਲੋਥਪਰੀਤਹਗੀਧਸ੍ਰਿੰਗਾਲਨਿਮਾਸੁਚਰਿਓਹੈ॥
ਲੋਥਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਲੋਥਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਥੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ) ਮਾਸ ਗਿਰਝਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਦੜ ਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
The corpses are amassed on corpses and their flesh is being eaten by jackals and vultures.,
ਗੂਦਬਹੈਸਿਰਕੇਸਨਤੇਸਿਤਪੁੰਜਪ੍ਰਵਾਹਧਰਾਨਿਪਰਿਓਹੈ॥
(ਕਈਆਂ ਦੇ) ਸਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਫ਼ੈਦ ਮਿਝ ਵਗ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਪੈ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ,
The white current of fat coming out of the heads is falling on the ground in this way,
ਮਾਨਹੁਜਟਾਧਰਕੀਜਟਤੇਜਨੁਰੋਸਕੈਗੰਗਕੋਨੀਰਢਰਿਓਹੈ॥੬੮॥
ਮਾਨੋ ਸ਼ਿਵ ('ਜਟਾਧਰ') ਦੀਆਂ ਜਟਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੰਗਾ-ਜਲ ਡਿਗ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੬੮॥
As if the current of Ganga hath gushed out of he hair of Shiva.68.,
ਬਾਰਸਿਵਾਰਭਏਤਿਹਠਉਰਸੁਫੇਨਜਿਉਛਤ੍ਰਫਿਰੇਤਰਤਾ॥
ਉਸ ਥਾਂ (ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਲ) ਕਾਈ ('ਸਿਵਾਰ') ਵਾਂਗ ਅਤੇ (ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੇ) ਛਤ੍ਰ ਝਗ ਵਾਂਗ ਤਰਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਸਨ।
The hair of the heads are floating on water like scum and the canopies of the kings like froth.,
ਕਰਅੰਗੁਲਕਾਸਫਰੀਤਲਫੈਭੁਜਕਾਟਿਭੁਜੰਗਕਰੇਕਰਤਾ॥
ਹੱਥਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਂਗਲਾਂ ਮੱਛੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਤੜਪਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਟੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਬਾਂਹਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਰਤਾ ਨੇ ਸੱਪਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
The gingers of hands are writhing like fish and the chopped arms seem like serpents.,
ਹਯਨਕ੍ਰਧੁਜਾਦ੍ਰੁਮਸ੍ਰਉਣਤਨੀਰਮੈਚਕ੍ਰਜਿਉਚਕ੍ਰਫਿਰੈਗਰਤਾ॥
(ਉਸ) ਲਹੂ ਦੀ ਨਦੀ ਵਿਚ (ਮਰੇ ਹੋਏ) ਘੋੜੇ ਮਗਰ ਮੱਛਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ, ਝੰਡੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਛਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ, (ਰਥ ਦੇ ਪਹੀਇਆਂ ਦੇ) ਚੱਕਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਘੁੰਮਰ-ਘੇਰ ਹਨ।
Within the blood of the horses, chariots and wheels of chariots are rotating as in whirlpools of water.,
ਤਬਸੁੰਭਨਿਸੁੰਭਦੁਹੂੰਮਿਲਿਦਾਨਵਮਾਰਕਰੀਰਨਮੈਸਰਤਾ॥੬੯॥
ਤਦ ਸੁੰਭ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਇਤਨੀ ਘੋਰ ਮਾਰ ਮਚਾਈ ਮਾਨੋ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ (ਖੂਨ ਦੀ) ਨਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ ॥੬੯॥
Sumbh and Nisumbh waged such a furious war together which hath caused the flow of the stream of blood in the field.69.,

(ਉਸ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿਚ) ਦੇਵਤੇ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਦੈਂਤ ਜਿਤ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦਾ) ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਮਾਨ ਹਥਿਆ ਲਿਆ।
The gods were defeated and the demons were victorious who captured all the paraphernalia.,
ਦੀਨੋਇੰਦ੍ਰਭਜਾਇਕੈਮਹਾਪ੍ਰਬਲਦਲਸਾਜਿ॥੭੦॥
(ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੇ) ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਦਲ ਸਾਜ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੭੦॥
With the help of very powerful army, they caused the flight of Indra.70.,

ਛੀਨਭੰਡਾਰਲਇਓਹੈਕੁਬੇਰਤੇਸੇਸਹੂੰਤੇਮਨਿਮਾਲਛੁਡਾਈ॥
(ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੇ) ਕੁਬੇਰ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਲੁਟ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੇਸ਼-ਨਾਗ ਤੋਂ ਮਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਖੋਹ ਲਈ।
The demons seized away the wealth from Kuber and the necklace of jewels from Sheshanaga.,
ਜੀਤਲੁਕੇਸਦਿਨੇਸਨਿਸੇਸਗਨੇਸਜਲੇਸਦੀਓਹੈਭਜਾਈ॥
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ('ਲੁਕੇਸ') ਸੂਰਜ, ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ ('ਨਿਸੇਸ') ਗਣੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਵਰੁਣ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਤ ਕੇ ਭਜਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
They conquered Brahma, Sun, Moon, Ganesh, Varuna etc., and caused them to run away.,
ਲੋਕਕੀਏਤਿਨਤੀਨਹੁਆਪਨੇਦੈਤਪਠੇਤਹਦੈਠਕੁਰਾਈ॥
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ) ਤਿੰਨੋਂ ਲੋਕ (ਜਿਤ ਕੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਵਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ (ਉਥੇ) ਹਕੂਮਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਦੈਂਤ-ਸਰਦਾਰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
They established their own kingdom after conquering all the three worlds.,
ਜਾਇਬਸੇਸੁਰਧਾਮਤੇਊਤਿਨਸੁੰਭਨਿਸੁੰਭਕੀਫੇਰੀਦੁਹਾਈ॥੭੧॥
ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਠਿਕਾਣਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਵਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁੰਭ ਨਿਸੁੰਭ ਦੀ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਫਿਰਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ॥੭੧॥
All the demons went to abide in the cities of gods and proclamations were made in the names of Sumbh and Nisumbh.71.,

ਖੇਤਜੀਤਦੈਤਨਲੀਓਗਏਦੇਵਤੇਭਾਜ॥
ਦੈਂਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਯੁੱਧ-ਭੂਮੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਈ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਜ ਗਏ।
The demos conquered the war the gods ran away.,
ਇਹੈਬਿਚਾਰਿਓਮਨਬਿਖੈਲੇਹੁਸਿਵਾਤੇਰਾਜ॥੭੨॥
(ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਚੰਡੀ ('ਸਿਵਾ') ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ) ਰਾਜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਏ ॥੭੨॥
The gods then ruminated in their mind that Shiva be propitiated for re-establishment of their rule.72.,

ਦੇਵਸੁਰੇਸਦਿਨੇਸਨਿਸੇਸਮਹੇਸਪੁਰੀਮਹਿਜਾਇਬਸੇਹੈ॥
ਇੰਦਰ ('ਸੁਰੇਸ') ਸੂਰਜ, ਚੰਦ੍ਰਮਾ, ਆਦਿ (ਸਾਰੇ) ਦੇਵਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਵਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਵਸੇ ਹਨ।
Indra, the king of gods, sun and moon all went to abide in the city of Shiva.,
ਭੇਸਬੁਰੇਤਹਾਜਾਇਦੁਰੇਸਿਰਕੇਸਜੁਰੇਰਨਤੇਜੁਤ੍ਰਸੇਹੈ॥
ਯੁੱਧ ਦੇ ਡਰੋਂ (ਦੇਵਤੇ) ਬੁਰੇ ਹਾਲ ਉਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਲੁਕੇ (ਦੁਰੇ) ਹਨ ਅਤੇ (ਨ ਵਾਹਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ) ਵਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ।
They were in bad shape and because of the fear of war, the hair on their heads became of the fear of war, the hair on their heads became matted and enlarged.,
ਹਾਲਬਿਹਾਲਮਹਾਬਿਕਰਾਲਸੰਭਾਲਨਹੀਜਨੁਕਾਲਗ੍ਰਸੇਹੈ॥
ਹਾਲੋਂ ਬਿਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੁਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, (ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਦੀ) ਸੁਧ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ। (ਇੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਮਾਨੋ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ।

ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ (ਰਖਿਆ ਲਈ) ਪੁਕਾਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪੀੜਤ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿਚ (ਕੈਲਾਸ਼ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੀਆਂ) ਕੰਦਰਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ॥੭੩॥
They seemed to be repeatedly calling for help and in great suffering lay concealed in caves.73.,
